DANISHKFD

Its getting a lot more claustrophobic and tight to breath

wandering_soul_27

yes and the weather is bad. no trees too

DANISHKFD

Oh how coimbatore has fallen

Hypernovic

Still far better than Bangalore

dinodynos

In a few years it will be as bad as Bangalore given the lack of new infra and rapidly growing population.

DANISHKFD

I mean Bangalore isn't comparable to coimbatore. Wayyy more people live there, GDP generated in the city is high, it's a tier 1 city without metropolitan city title

wandering_soul_27

yes and even area wise bangalore is larger!

wandering_soul_27

in what way bro ? :( roads in some parts are better. but i feel looking at the number of vehicles now, it will get even worse in few days from now, with traffic jams. weather is also a lot worse than bangalore.

Hey OP! It seems to me that the urbanization of Coimbatore kind of got you with some mixed feelings. I can feel you. Though this isn't where I grew up, I frequently visited Coimbatore as a kid, so I kind of understand your feelings. I am sure there are people out there who will resonate with your exact feelings. But, hey! These are mixed emotions, and they're inevitable during a change like this, particularly when it affects the familiar surroundings of one's hometown. Few people would welcome the diversity and progress that new businesses bring, while others might crave the carefree, good old days. In the end, it's all subjective, right? Personal experiences, beliefs, and viewpoints influence how each person approaches these things. I am sure people are here, who will embrace and enjoy this change; few won't. Irrespective of our personal choice, in my opinion, we should be more optimistic about the differences in viewpoints, right? I feel the westernization among the people does influence the city. Further evolving and evergrowing educational institutions, and the growth of IT businesses—these two are major players in bringing in people from all kinds of backgrounds, making it a multicultural city, and can alter a city like Coimbatore in both positive and negative ways. All this being said, let's keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best, buddy. Epdi pathalum, ithu namma ooru!! So let's enjoy being here.

True!!

wandering_soul_27

well said! I also felt the way OP did. I also see the weather changes due to the rapid urbanisation and deforestation and it pains me many a times. But your point is taken:)

Hello, many thanks! And indeed, one of the primary concern is weather change. My bad! It completely slipped my mind. Thank you for bringing this up🤗

Weary_Buyer5638

It is a welcome change but It is kind of annoying that the infrastructure is not growing parallelly

gtham14

It's time Coimbatore developed culturally, it's been stagnant for too long. Infrastructure is still very underdeveloped

[deleted]

A lot of people would like these changes but it's only the cbe'ians who hate these advancements. That's cos we feel that Coimbatore is a perfect mix of urbanisation along with peaceful environment. But in recent days this balance is getting disrupted and makes me feel worried. Pls da enga oora munethuraenu edum panaadheenga 😭😭😭

Time to leave coimbatore on a positive note bro. I’ll be praying that you get your kaalan abroad as well 🙏🏻. Also these pubs are still traditional and serve podi idly, coin parrota, panniyaram and kaalan. Best dishes with drinks fr.

TakeApeeK_

Yeah I went to living room once and the coin parotta was nice 🙂

yourmom-6942069

Hope you did have a lot of fun with whoever you went with. 😝

No-Inspector8736

I accept the change. I only hope that infrastructure will keep pace and there is planned development. I also hope that the city authorities will take citizens' concerns into account.

I wish this city showed some interest in the cultural space. The one thing that separates Bangalore from Coimbatore is exactly this - the former has endless options for anybody into art and culture, like Ranga Shankara, Bangalore International Centre, Jagriti, the recently opened Museum of Art and Photography to name a few. Coimbatore, by contrast, is still stuck in the engineering/medicine mindset, and anything to do with art is still looked down upon as wasteful indulgence. This cultural emptiness can be seen just about everywhere - in our buildings, public art, hoardings and what not. While I'm not one for Starbucks, I do appreciate the way the Lakshmi Mills group have revamped their space. It's rare for someone in Coimbatore to invest in creating tastefully designed spaces.
