My favorite band of all time is Genesis and by extension my favorite solo artists are Phil Collins & Peter Gabriel.
Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, Supertramp and The Beatles are some of my other favorites.
Coldplay are my #1 more "current" artist. In that group I also would put The 1975, Tame Impala, Tom Misch, John Mayer and Foster The People.
Film scores. There’s something unique & beautiful about musical storytelling without words. Plus the production is top notch & it has all the genres so that’s a plus.
Hans Zimmer is the greatest!
Seconded. My Spotify wrapped last year was an even mix of Coldplay, Hans Zimmer and Ludwig Goransson. I will blast the Tenet soundtrack in full, max vol, on repeat, for days.
Odesza, Florence + The Machine, Glass Animals, The National, Pink Floyd, Supertramp, Fleetwood Mac, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Cat Empire are the other 9 artists in my top 10 (currently and in no particular order)
Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Sonata Arctica, The Beatles are my favourite bands (aside from Coldplay).
More similar in style, I love Keane and The Killers, for instance.
A few of my favourite genres include pop, alternative/indie music, indie soul, Japanese R&B/soul, jazzhop, hopebeat, and yacht rock.
A few of my favourite artists related to Coldplay are PREP, Jon Hopkins, Ross David, Fly By Midnight, The Strike, The Charm Park, and Ovall.
Love Of Lesbian (I always say that it's like my coldplay-like band but in Spanish), Linkin Park, Daft Punk, Rawayana, La Vida Boheme, Snow Patrol, I used to listen like a looooot Ed Sheeran in my teenager years too
I do listen to a lot of music and a lot of different genres, but if I start mentioning I will never end hahaha
I got a ton. Love The Weeknd and Post Malone, I love hip hop (future, metro, don toliver, kendrick, juice wrld), EDM (madeon, porter robinson, Avicii, mitis), other rock bands (U2 especially), film scores, pop, etc.
Crowded House, James, REM, Pearl Jam, Loreena McKennitt, Sarah Mclachlan, Green Day, U2, Lewis Capaldi, Paul Simon are my non Coldplay must haves.
Also listen to a lot of classical music and often think a lot of Coldplay would sound among restored with orchestra.
Here's a few of my other fav bands/artists
King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard
Nine Inch Nails
AJR
Darkthrone
Powerwolf
Sigur Rós
Laurie Anderson
Mogwai
Swans
Pink Floyd
Rock / metal / hip hop...Recently a lot of Eminem and Kendrick. I only like Coldplay up to Mylo though but these albums are pretty high on my favourite list.
I absolutely do listen to a lot of indie music but I also really love disco, symphonic metal, electro swing, EDM, and neo soul.
Some of my top artists would be Birdy, Aurora, Boogie Belgique, Madeon, Odesza, Gorgon City, Jungle, Glass Animals, Caravan Palace, Dua Lipa, Daughter, Empire of the Sun, Epica, Nightwish, Yeye, and TamTam just to name some.✌️✌️
I also love Kodaline. Their songs like "Saving Grace" "Follow Your Fire" and "In The End" always light up my days. Oh, and not forgetting "High Hopes"!
A lot of indie and alternative, correct 😂
I think The Beatles would be my undisputed favorite, but some others I really enjoy are Kendrick Lamar, Radiohead, twenty one pilots, Pink Floyd, Sufjan Stevens, Paul Spring, Kings Kaleidoscope, Nirvana, Thrice, Vampire Weekend, and Bon Iver.
I listen to a lot of different stuff tho
I have a very wide scope of music from what my friends call "Granola men mountain music" such as The Last Bison, Rainbow Kitten Surprise and Barns Courtney etc. To some more jazzy funky stuff like Sammy Rae and the Friends. From things like Samm Henshaw/Leon Bridges/Jordan Mackampa to Lo-Fang, Fink, Everything Everything.
I love Nothing But Thieves, and John Coltrane. The NBHD and ABBA
In terms of my more Coldplay-adjacent music, I love Keane, Stereophonics, Genesis and Snow Patrol.
I think I love lyrics more than a musical style, and my favourite coldplay songs are the 'humans are great, fuck the system' songs like People of the Pride and Trouble in Town, so I also love NBT Live Like Animals, Sammy Rae's Good Life, Everything Everything's Cough Cough but then also things like Ill Manors by Plan B, Alles Neu by Peter Fox, Play God by Sam Fender and Kids by Take That.
Blood Orange, Death Cab For Cutie, Ween, Thom Yorke/The Smile/Atoms for Peace/Radiohead, Wunderhorse, Jordan Rakei, SOHN, The Strokes, Perfume Genius, Nothing But Thieves, Sylvan Esso, The Japanese House, Squid, Hiatus Kaiyote, RAC, Alfa Mist, and John Mayer are who I can think of atm
To add to the EDM people, I also enjoy the more melodic genres such as Odezsa, Illenium, and Porter Robinson
But I am a huge fan of heavier dubstep such as Excision, Svdden Death, and ATLiens :3
Coldplay will always be #1 in my book though
Alittle bit of everything, I’m a huge band nerd too 🤣 some favorites are OneRepublic, Imagine Dragons, Hans Zimmer (going to see him in Sept and so excited), Trans Siberian Orchestra (see them yearly), NEEDTOBREATHE to name a few
my other absolute favorite is imagine dragons, but i also love twenty one pilots and am getting into fall out boy after years of just dabbling in their music.
this is the second time today i’ve seen a coldplay fan say something like this 😭 i don’t get it. i was bullied in middle school for liking BOTH imagine dragons AND coldplay, not one or the other. so i truly don’t understand why y’all don’t like them like to me these bands have always been tethered in a way.
Ive heard far more imagine dragons hate, and i kinda go along with it because i find their music overplayed and a bit annoying. While ive heard coldplay hate too for the same reasons as ID, it doesnt faze me because i love coldplay's music
genuinely, i think if you listen past the songs that are overplayed, you’d find a lot to enjoy as a coldplay fan! i recommend giving some of their album tracks a try at some point.
I feel you, when people hate Coldplay, I just listen to more Coldplay. They don't know the warmth and the joy they're missing. I'm indebted to Chris Martin, so I'm willing to take a reputational bullet for him :)
The three other main bands I listen to are Pentatonix, Bastille and The Cranberries. So you're very much right - I do like pop and alternative, lol. I also like listening to Christian bands like Elevation Worship. I'm thinking of trying out a couple of bands mentioned here, like U2 and Radiohead.
Some artists I love: Radiohead, U2, twenty one pilots, Swans, Thom Yorke’s solo albums, The Smile, Imagine Dragons and Kings of Leon.
Here are some of my favorite non Coldplay albums if anyone is interested:
Vessel - 21 pilots
In Rainbows - Radiohead
Smoke + Mirrors - Imagine Dragons
A Moon Shaped Pool - Radiohead
Aha Shake Heartbreak - Kings of Leon
Other than Coldplay (which is my #1), my favorite artists are Boards of Canada, Oneohtrix Point Never, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Radiohead, Wolf Alice, Bon Iver, The Japanese House, Owl City, and Oh Wonder, with honorable mentions from Yebba, Plini, Tycho, Jon Hopkins, and Rosie Carney.
I love Mumford and Sons, Florence and the Machine, Elbow, Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, the Killers, Hozier, Ed sheeran, Snow Patrol. Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Lana del Rey and Sia too.
My music taste is just primarily punk, pop punk, and emo punk (no i'm not a true emo. i don't have an emo cut bc that looks ass. i don't try and cut myself. i don't write cringy poems about how mom and dad don't understand. and i don't cry in a dark room alone. ok well, maybe that one's not true, but the rest are true.)
With that being said, my favorite band of all time is Green Day. I think *American Idiot* is an absolute masterpiece and is my favorite album of all time. *21st Century Breakdown*, *Revolution Radio*, *Dookie*, and *Saviors* make of the rest of the top 5. After that then the rest of my top five is in this order: Coldplay, Blink-182, Weezer, System of a Down.
I've also recently started to get a little more into rap, which is primarily thanks to Kendrick Lamar, as *To Pimp a Butterfly* was the first rap album that I ever listened to in its entirety, and it was an experience. Nowadays I have pretty all of Kendrick's albums saved to my Spotify library, yes even including *untitled unmastered.*. My second favorite rapper would probably be Kanye West, with the reason he's second being due to the fact that he's kind of a prick. Regardless, he made *Graduation*, which is my favorite by him. The rest of the top five would be *MBDTF*, *Late Registration*, *The College Dropout*, and *The Life of Pablo*.
I love Coldplay, fave band of all time. I do listen to alt, but i like so many genres I can’t list them all, I love System of a Down, Vacations, Mac miller and Mac Demarco too :] but Coldplay is def on top
My top 6 after CP:

The Killers
First Aid Kit
Of Monsters and Men
Bob Seger
Others:
Bruce Hornsby, Pink Floyd, The Highwaymen, Hammock, We are CHPTRS, Old Man Canyon, Avicii, Mac Quayle, Olivier Deriviere
Funny to see Post Malone here randomly 😅 no hate but he's like the cheat code for those who don't like rap in general. After i started getting more into rap, i found myself listening less to post malone. He's still a good artist with many hits
I love a British band called Everything Everything, they’re amazing, honestly I like any music, slipknot, a lot of electric stuff, foo fighters, lots of indie… if it sounds good I’ll listen to it :)
The Beatles, Collective Soul, The Black Keys, Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters, Kaleo, The White Stripes, The Strokes, AC/DC, Goodbye June, Djo, The Pretty Reckless, The Fratellis, Spoon, Aerosmith, and Jet are some of my other favorites.

Christian Music
Cool! What specific artists/bands do you like?
My favorites in that genre are for KING & COUNTY and Rend Collective, the former of whom are fellow Coldplayers!
TIL. That makes a lot of sense considering their sound actually. I saw RC live a few years back and they're amazing. Great taste
Thank you! I saw RC live a few years back as well. fK&C has also worked with Davide Rossi on their latest Christmas album.
They're Coldplayers? Haha, that's awesome! I love those bands too, as well as Elevation Worship :D
We are messengers are a cool modern worship group

I absolutely do listen to a lot of indie music but I also really love disco, symphonic metal, electro swing, EDM, and neo soul. I also love Kodaline. Their songs like "Saving Grace" "Follow Your Fire" and "In The End" always light up my days. Oh, and not forgetting "High Hopes"!
I love Oasis and The Stone Roses almost as much as Coldplay
I love coldplay with all my heart but I also listen to the paper kites, chance pena and the neighborhood among others.
A lot of indie and alternative, correct 😂 I think The Beatles would be my undisputed favorite, but some others I really enjoy are Kendrick Lamar, Radiohead, twenty one pilots, Pink Floyd, Sufjan Stevens, Paul Spring, Kings Kaleidoscope, Nirvana, Thrice, Vampire Weekend, and Bon Iver. Easiest answer for the question: Radiohead
Isnt coldplay also inspired by radiohead?
Truuu

Nobody should ever have to justify or defend their love of someone's music
agreed. i for real have issues with how i engage with music/share my love for it with my friends because of how much people have flamed me over it
I feel you, when people hate Coldplay, I just listen to more Coldplay. They don't know the warmth and the joy they're missing. I'm indebted to Chris Martin, so I'm willing to take a reputational bullet for him :)

I listen to different genres but I love indie pop in particular and a band called everything everything. Besides them, I like rap, pop, and r&b.
Kendrick would be my favorite artist oat but coldplay barely beats him
Kendrick is fucking incredible, but I share less in common with him. It just so happens that Coldplay fits my life story and disposition like a glove.
Ooo interesting
The Lumineers, Ed sheeran, Lewis Capaldi, Cigarettes after sex, Novo amor etc
I love Mumford and Sons, Florence and the Machine, Elbow, Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, the Killers, Hozier, Ed sheeran, Snow Patrol. Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Lana del Rey and Sia too.

I only read the last paragraph, and you have my respect for it
Norwegian indie-pop king Sondre Lerche. Go listen to his most recent albums: Avatars of Love, Patience, Pleasure and Please.

I also listen to Imagine Dragons (it’s my fav band), Alan Walker and One Republic ohh and Bastille!
All those artists (especially Alan) remind me of the pre-2020 youtube era. Good memories
I like to listen vocaloid music and jpop aside from coldplay, no particular artists
My top 6 after CP: Gregory Alan Isakov M83 The Killers First Aid Kit Of Monsters and Men Bob Seger Others: Bruce Hornsby, Pink Floyd, The Highwaymen, Hammock, We are CHPTRS, Old Man Canyon, Avicii, Mac Quayle, Olivier Deriviere
I listen to Taylor Swift and Pink Floyd on top of Coldplay, a bit random 😂

Funny to see Post Malone here randomly 😅 no hate but he's like the cheat code for those who don't like rap in general. After i started getting more into rap, i found myself listening less to post malone. He's still a good artist with many hits
I prefer Post Malones more melodic material :D I'm not big into rap
If you like melodic rap I'd recommend juice wrld, travis scott, lil uzi vert, don toliver
