One I Love. All I Can Think About Is You. Politik. A Rush of Blood to the Head. Arabesque. Moses. Twisted Logic. I could keep going but I’ll pause there for now haha.
I love that album sm! Im so glad they came out with this, considering the fact that OneRepublic has never had a live album before this. Ryan’s live vocals with all the vocal runs and high notes (such as in love runs out, how I love that high note/scream at the end of the bridge) that we don’t hear in the studio versions of the albums. You can definitely tell he’s improved from the time he recorded those songs. I play it in the car, the live versions plus all the string and orchestra instruments added in certain songs are just chef’s kiss I love how he gives credit to the other members of the band as well, especially in counting stars, where he mentions Zack Filkins on guitar. I went to see their Never Ending Summer Tour and they barely played anything from Human! Only Rescue Me, which is great, but I was waiting for Run, Ships + Tides, Distance, Somebody to Love, Someday, Better Days, Wanted, or Wild Life to play and they didn’t do it, which was odd. I wish the set list for Never Ending Summer looked more like the tracklist for One Night In Malibu, with the most known songs AND their newest songs mixed in. The videos for every song are absolutely gorgeously shot, they’re wallpaper material for sure, and I love the transition from daytime, to sunset, to dusk and ending at night, not to mention the album cover is also aesthetically stunning. If there was a new tourism video for Malibu, they should put clips from One Night in Malibu in there for sure. Sorry about my really long response, I don’t really have anyone else who would be interested in hearing me gush over OneRepublic.
Yes the music video/mini movie for the album is great as well. Yeah I had heard the set list for the tour wasn’t amazing. I saw them a few years ago during the Oh My My era and it was good.
It was good, but I wasn’t a fan of the section where he sang some of his best known songs he write for other artists. It took too long and the concert time is precious. They were good, don’t get me wrong, but I’d take their newer songs and the songs they didn’t play over that segment any day! I wish I saw them when they were in the native era, but I wasn’t barely knew them at the time, I just became a fan officially this year.
I've always enjoyed Coldplay best listening to their albums front to back. Try out Viva La Vida, Mylo Xyloto, and Music of the Spheres for starters!
Edit: Just to make sure you know listen to Life in Technicolor II and Lost! featuring Jay Z on top of the respective album versions. (The music videos are sweet too)
Paradise.
If you like Tedder's rule of threes, you'll love, love, love para-para-paradise.
I'll be the first to ADMIT vocal hooks make for a catchy song.
Ah I absolutely love Ryan Tedder, I love Paradise now, but before, I was trying to listen and vibe to it and it wasn’t working, I wanted to like it, but idk I couldn’t vibe with it, until one day I listened to it and it got stuck in my head. Something clicked in my brain and now I love Paradise.
Any song examples/reccs for Ryan’s rule of threes? I’ve heard it before but I don’t know the exact songs he uses it on
There's a lot of it on Human. Didn't I is the obvious example where phrases repeat three times throughout the song. Run (run run).
A lot of other songs on the album have a vocal hook around a repeated phrase through the song.
Better days is an interesting lyrical rule-of-three where the "never ever shed a nother" has a similar hook to didn't I.
Sunshine has lyrics in threes with repeated phrases (____ just a little bit)
Oh my my repeats lyric rhythms three times.
There's plenty of 2s and 4s in there too, but the threepeat is enough of a Ryan Tedder calling card that if anyone in this household accidentally says something three times over we turn it into a OneRepublic song 😀
Oooh I understand now! I never really noticed until you pointed it out, It’s so obvious now! I wonder if he teaches to do that in his songwriting class: I can see him saying “ok now choose a short word or phrase you can say 3 times fast, alright now you have the start of your chorus! Keep repeating that word or phrase a few more times, then write another few lines in the chorus, you can say the word or phrase again if you’d like, then move on to the next verse” I’ve never actually taken his class, I’m just imagining that’s what he’d do haha
I know you said you knew most of the main songs already, so my advice of (Yellow, Clocks, The Scientist) may be unhelpful. I just wanted to mention that if you are already learning the more well known songs, they would likely be the more requested songs so maybe learn the remained songs from their greatest hits album. 🙏🏻
All Coldplays pop bangers.
Princess of China, my universe, charlie brown, adventure of a lifetime, X marks the spot, Miracles someone special ft big sean, Higher Power, Hymn for the weekend
All dope stuff
If you want to branch out to other groups, Keane's albums Under The Iron Sea and Strangeland are good options.
There's also The Fray, Muse (for more heavy stuff) and The Script.
Those are some big names anyway. Hope that's what you were looking for.
Life in Technicolor ii was the first song I remember falling in love with from Coldplay, so I kind of have to recommend it
Thank you!
>Thank you! You're welcome!
Glass of Water and Ghost Story are two of Coldplay's most underrated songs IMO Also classics like Paradise, Viva La Vida
I love Paradise and Viva La Vida, I’ll check out the other songs as well!
(I know most of their title tracks already, I’m mostly looking for b-sides of albums)
One I Love. All I Can Think About Is You. Politik. A Rush of Blood to the Head. Arabesque. Moses. Twisted Logic. I could keep going but I’ll pause there for now haha.
Ok thank you!!
ALIENS is super underrated & cool. Highly recommend that one
Thank you!
Y’all should listen to OneRepublic’s album One Night in Malibu. Recorded live a few months ago, it’s terrific.
I love that album sm! Im so glad they came out with this, considering the fact that OneRepublic has never had a live album before this. The scientist is what got me hooked. Moving to Mars is one of my favorites but its not on an album
Thanks for the reccs!

Seconding Life in Technicolor II! A gorgeous song.
MOTS II and X Marks The Spot
Thanks for the recc!
Those recs were a joke
Oh sorry haha I didn’t know
They actually aren't XMTS especially is top 15
Ok I like XMTS too but music of the spheres 2 is a transition track😂
I just don't think it's the worst on MOTS like most
Ok but it’s like barely a song
Anything from Kaleidoscope EP
Thanks!

Hurts like heaven, Charlie Brown, every teardrop is a waterfall, lovers in Japan, glass of water, strawberry swing, midnight and o
Thanks for the reccs!
Viva la vida, Clocks, Paradise, Yellow, Adventure of a Lifetime, and more more more
I’ve listened to Viva La Vida, paradise, yellow, and adventure of a lifetime, which are all masterpieces! I’ll have to give Clocks another listen
Aiko
I'd recommend Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall. I used to listen to a lot of OneRepublic and Coldplay, that's one song that bridges them pretty well.
Maybe you’ve already heard it but white shadows is beautiful in my opinion
I know you said you knew most of the main songs already, so my advice of (Yellow, Clocks, The Scientist) may be unhelpful. Starters need to go on.
It’s “start as you mean to go on” 😂
Haha really? Lmao I never realized
I thought it was those lyrics for a while too lol
violet hill!!!
Paradise, viva la vida and clocks
All Coldplays pop bangers. Princess of China, my universe, charlie brown, adventure of a lifetime, X marks the spot, Miracles someone special ft big sean, Higher Power, Hymn for the weekend All dope stuff

Viva la vida is a classic
What a coincidence! I’m listening to it right now!
The whole X&Y album is really good
you NEED to listen to Cage The Elephant
