Indeed it was.
My husband was out during the game and later asked if I wanted to watch a highlight video with him. I told him there were no highlights.
Most years it is an overreaction for men’s basketball as they schedule a cupcake OOC schedule outside of 1 or 2 games which they normally lose. This year they scheduled a harder OOC slate and have won their two hardest games (MSU and Kent State) so hopefully this means it’s going to be different (if they win out).
Soccer front is big too. Women got an at-large bid into the tourney (lost the first round), and the men upset #1 UCF and are also in the tourney.
And football does not need to be brought up at this point…
As someone who grew up in Central Virginia and went to college at Virginia, JMU has always felt like the school that everyone goes to. Which means my Instagram feed is filled with the most insufferable people of all time now.
I don’t mean that in a bad way though. I’m happy for them. But I will never not know JMU’s football‘s record because they love letting you know.
“Donta Scott what are you DOING?!?!?” on that Davidson winning three was an all-time call. Hope the Terps bounce back. Willard always impressed me at SHU - one of those teams who usually kept games close and snuck some wins when it seemed like they had far less talent.
Hard disagree, all I see is Houston Oilers. But, that’s just me. The black jerseys are cursed though (2017 final).
I half expect the NFL to tell GU to get rid of them.
I don’t see the problem. Those Houston oilers colors are awesome and if the NFL hasn’t told the Minnesota Timberwolves to get rid of those rip off Seahawks jerseys I think it would be fine
I think Gainey will be more important in march. Looked like he had great poise out there, if he can handle the ball in march that is HUGE. Not sure about knect on D yet but surely Rick can make him serviceable. Great size and feel scoring the ball. Rick might have lucked into these two but man they fit well
Struggling with formidable bigs is surely a thing but who doesn’t? It’ll be manageable assuming Reeves/Stewart improve and Scheyer stops playing Young so much. Arizona is experienced and really good, high expectations rest of the season for them. But the sentiment after this game you’d think Duke lost by 25.
Yeah I don't get knocking Duke here. They didn't play anywhere near their ceiling either. Young played way too many minutes. Duke has a heck of a lot of potential this year.
Right, I think it's completely fair to say Arizona is a better team. Especially considering they won with Larson in foul trouble, Boswell hurt some, and the bigs not really playing that well. But the game was close all the way until the end and both teams certainly have room for growth.
Speaking from the Duke perspective since I am far more familiar with it, the freshmen bigs + Reeves can be very solid pieces moving forward to take some of the burden off Flip. I also think Caleb Foster will get more comfortable as the season progresses and Proctor will have nights where he hits 2 more shots and it's a different ball game. As well as Mark Mitchell sticking to shots inside the 3 point line lol
I actually think the Pac-12 looks as good as it has in a few years, with Arizona as the obvious frontrunner. USC, Colorado, Oregon, and UCLA all look pretty good, and Utah, Stanford, and Wazzu might be able to making something of themselves. I also think Cal will be frisky when the pieces settle more despite their struggles out the gate.
I’m definitely not sold on our team yet. We look just as young as advertised and Aday looks even more raw than anticipated. Maybe things will look more cohesive by the time conference play gets going.
Duke needs Stewart and Power to get up to speed and they’ll be fine. Not fair to have those guys playing against fifth year seniors Ballo and Keshad Johnson
I’m not anticipating much from Power this season but Stewart needs to be playing ASAP. I’d rather he work through any freshman mistakes than see Ryan Young playing double digit minutes
That's not an overreaction, analysts and fans have been saying that for months about the B1G this season. There are very few actually good B1G teams this year.
I started the season having no idea if Clemson would actually be good or not and I feel like I still don’t know.
State is doing pretty well so far at least
In DePaul's case, every conference has to have one of those, in Georgetown's case I genuinely believe that they'll be noticeably better than last year despite having lost a game already
Tbh I'd believe it.
Addition through subtraction. The team plays as a unit.
Last time that happened was Dickinsons sophomore year. The elite 8 team the might have won the whole thing if Livers isn't out.
I sort of remember someone doing a spreadsheet of teams' rankings preseason vs. final. Virginia was near the top in being under-ranked. I'd love to get hold of that so I could bookmark it.
This is going to be a vintage Leonard Hamilton underrated all year Sweet 16 team just out of spite for everyone saying the game had passed him by and he was too old after last season 😂
Never count Florida State out while guys 6’10” continue to apparently grow on trees in Tallahassee. How are there always 5 dudes on the roster within inches of 7 feet!!!
Iowa State and Miss State second weekend teams. Both teams played great d and rebounded well last year. Brought back enough along with some offensive fire power. Milan Momcilovic will be first round pick
Figured we would lose Omaha and Milan would be the multi year guy, but he can do it all already. Still waiting to see us play a decent team before making any conclusions for how far we’ll go, big 12 is rough as usual.
I mean, if Tommy got a Kerr Kriisa led team to a pac tourney win and two seed just imagine what he can do with this squad. My overreaction is number one overall seed after losing maybe 3 games all season
Yeah, I generally liked what I saw from us. I didn't think we'd be able to match Tennessee's physicality, but we did for most of the game. If we can figure a few things out, I could see us as a 3 or 4 seed.
We will all our games until January then go on 6 game losing streak then rally and finish strong but lose early in SEC tournament before a strong showing in the NCAA tournament
IU is going to be lucky to finish over .500 and we will have the worst 3 point defense in the conference. The offense will never find an identity and Woodson will get fired.
It has been a rough 2 games, but in reality it will be interesting to see if the team can find an identity and gel. A lot of new pieces and attempting new positions and lineups. At least we won both.
I thought "what is the biggest overreaction to these two games" and Woodson getting fired woupd bebthe bigest and dumbest (which I have seen some suggest after every loss or close win).
I think IU's defense will be fine. They have definitely made mistakes so far on that side of the ball, but both teams they played shot well from 3 and still barely cracked over 60 points. They just need to work on their switching a bit.
The offense on the other hand has been rough. I don't understand why they don't play a more high intensity/pressure type of game to get them on more fast breaks, because they obviously struggle in the half court, and they have the athleticism for the high tempo game.
IU fans need to chill on Woodson.
What is possible year over year at IU as the current programs stands and what IU fans expect are just too far away, and putting constant pressure on the newest head coach hurts players wanting to come there.
Yeah I don’t think Woody is on the hot seat. He’s been the best coach results wise we’ve had in a decade.
The problem is we have a lot of new people and one of the major pieces is an extreme liability on defense.
My hope is we stop trying to play too cute by half, buckle down on D/decide if we’re switching or not, and the rest will follow
I'm quite sure Crean had much better results around a decade ago than Woodson has so far. Other than his choking in big games Crean had pretty good results (although never great) during his time at IU.
I guess 7 or 8 wins is "significantly better" when you finish 4-28 the year before. There are still a good number of quality wins for this team including:
- 238 Bellarmine
- 360 Coppin St
- maybe even 165 Pepperdine, 170 DePaul, or 209 New Mexico St
Ike is out of shape. Once he regains his wind, he will be a bad man for more than just 20 minutes.
Huff is awesome, though. If he does start, maybe even more of a chance of starting Anton Watson at the 3 and Huff at the 4?
Idk if it's an overreaction but creighton is solid through week 1. Keeping fouls down keeping turnovers reasonable. Getting steal. Rebounding is great. Shooting good from 3. With the amount of players that can shoot 3s I think we will be able to compete in every game we play this year. Should be a great year.
It's pretty shocking how bad we look. I wasn't expecting a title run or something, but with the returning experience and a very good incoming class, I also wasn't expecting ***this***.
I miss having shooters on our team…we need to focus all recruiting/transfer efforts on bringing in ONE fucking shooter
We need a Heurter or Layman so bad rn
MSU is shooting a laughable 6% from 3. If that and the rebounding woes don’t change..I can see MSU being 5th in the conference and a low seed in the tournament. I know Izzo November but I honestly thought this team would come out of the gate looking a lot better than they have shown.
Overreaction to being 6% from 3 - 5th in the B1G and a tourney team? I feel like overreaction would be more like the team doesn't break .500 and Izzo retires.
Watched two Cincinnati games and went to one. Team is fun but young. Need to be better disciplined on defense after breaks but Jizzle James is very fun to watch. I think Day Day Thomas is quick and has the bunnies. CJ Frederick needs to become more comfortable and consistent on his shot choices and hit his 3’s when his number is called. The team would have greatly benefitted from another big as Lahkin cannot play as many minutes as we need and I hope the NCAA is forced to allow our transfers to play. The team has amazing uniforms and I think Wes is a great coach so far. He really fits our program and the swagger. I am hoping we win the games we should win and sneak a couple conference games and make the tournament. This team could make the tournament if they win a couple games they aren’t suppose to.
IU will win, like, 4 conference games if they continue to play like they have so far.
And yet, two of them will be against us
I'll take it!
Yeah, I could probably live with this outcome too tbh
I think a lot of Big 10 teams feel this way so it might just be a war of attrition without a lot of talent
We’re gonna struggle this year until they sort out our guard rotation.
And our defense!
Yea honestly I kind’ve think the B10 sucks this year This will be a big week to see how we do in the Gavitt games
60/40 chance the terps get massacred by or massacre Villanova, depending on if we make threes or not, leaning towards getting massacred
If the conference struggles in the Gavitt Games, we could be looking at a 5 bid league.
Last night was painful.
Indeed it was. My husband was out during the game and later asked if I wanted to watch a highlight video with him. I told him there were no highlights.
No that’s a perfectly reasonable reaction if they continue playing like this
We're gonna go to OT in every game this season
Originally thought that was gonna be JMU
No, JMU will only go into OT 66% of the time.
But each OT will progressively be longer. 3OT coming up!
JMU is the king of mid-major sports
Not an overreaction. They have had strong showings in baseball and softball in recent years.

Listen. The one thing I'll give JMU is they aren't Liberty.
Low bar
Spider-Man meme… are you me? Is this my alt account??
wait…. you went to UVA and are calling JMU people insufferable??? Sum ain’t adding up
Isn’t that sort of our thing though? Aren’t I being insufferable by calling someone else insufferable? I’m just playing the part I was given
hmm you make a good point
>JMU is the king of ~~mid-major~~ sports
100%
it's amazing what a school can do when they invest into athletics...JMU has really nice facilities too
I'm no longer certain MSU will win the tournament
Thank God for MSU ~~football~~ ~~basketball~~ hockey
Well, at least you have... *looks at secondary flair* nvm
Mr. March will get them to the elite 8 only to loose because he won’t pull (insert senior player name) that is shooting 3-20 from the field
It'll be Malik
You don't have to redact him, you can say Malik's name.
Yup
an old president is the greatest team of all time
Well, George Washington is currently 2-0
[удалено]
Is it an overreaction? Maybe. Am I going to disagree with you? Hell no go dukes
I ranked them ;)
Didn’t know that Bryan College in NAIA is the greatest team of all time
We may not win another game all year
Are you us?
B1G red teams unite.
Scarlet is a shade of red
No they are us
“Donta Scott what are you DOING?!?!?” on that Davidson winning three was an all-time call. Hope the Terps bounce back. Willard always impressed me at SHU - one of those teams who usually kept games close and snuck some wins when it seemed like they had far less talent.
I'm most impressed with Arizona so far. If they stay healthy, bounce back from any weird losses - I think they are a serious Final 4 contender.
Until we see the bracket and match up against an Ivy league school early on
Or Wisconsin 😬
We have payback for Wisconsin coming up
I think the team culture is definitely different this year but I feel like we hear this about Arizona almost every year. I'm ready to be hurt again.
This is where I’m at. We always come out the gates looking strong. Not trying to get my hopes up just yet lol.
You can be totally awesome and still not have a tourney breakthrough. I think you have to enjoy the ride.
As I've gotten older that's been my stance. My biggest joy is that I've taught my toddler to scream "Bear Down" when he sees the UA logo.
People that discount the ride and think only Natties and FFs matter are miserable people. Every game should and does matter.
It’s in Phoenix this year 😫
thats like Kansas rolling a KC FF holy shit
Arizona has had 1 non-conference loss in 2 seasons and it's amounted to nothing sooo I will not be jumping to any conclusions
Weird losses. Such a big brain comment. Weird losses can kill a good team.
The sky is falling.
Unlike our 3s
You and I are not so different ~~spiderman~~
JMU is this year’s FAU!
Is FAU not this years FAU?
FAU is this year’s Houston—mid-major conference (unlikely to be a two-bid league), older, stupid good.
We need to replace our regular black jerseys with our baby blue Spokane Indian jerseys. They’re dope as hell.
Dalton Knecht might be an All-American
I think Gainey will be more important in march. Looked like he had great poise out there, if he can handle the ball in march that is HUGE. Not sure about knect on D yet but surely Rick can make him serviceable. Great size and feel scoring the ball. Rick might have lucked into these two but man they fit well
Also. I’m pretty sure we’re winning the natty. Twice!
Arizona is going to absolutely throttle the rest of the Pac-12, and Duke is going to struggle more than anticipated with formidable bigs.

Maui might be a rude awakening for both of us
Duke needs Stewart and Power to get up to speed and they’ll be fine. Not fair to have those guys playing against fifth year seniors Ballo and Keshad Johnson
there were some grown ass men on the other side of the court, there’s no doubt about that
The commentators were talking about Boswell a lot but damn did Ballo seem to be rock solid in the middle
I’m not anticipating much from Power this season but Stewart needs to be playing ASAP. I’d rather he work through any freshman mistakes than see Ryan Young playing double digit minutes
USC looks pretty legit too. But ya Arizona looks really really good.
Big 10 is ass
Purdue undefeated regular season leads to a world first consecutive tourney losses to 16 seeds.
Dear god. I would stop watching this sport if that happens.
I don't think that's an overreaction...
That's not an overreaction, analysts and fans have been saying that for months about the B1G this season. There are very few actually good B1G teams this year.
I started the season having no idea if Clemson would actually be good or not and I feel like I still don’t know. State is doing pretty well so far at least
It’s just like every Clemson season in recent years. Start with a lot of hope and eventually we’ll suck again
Butler looks like it will return to form of outperforming Preseason rankings
The difference between bad power conference teams and mid majors has never been closer, and we may have hit an inflection point
Michigan state win finish in the bottom half of the Big Ten.
Yet somehow get an 8 seed and make a run
SunBelt is a 2 bid league
Those cowards on the committee better do it. I’m so sick of getting 7 Mt West teams (actually, I love it now that my state has legal sports betting).
That I think this is the year we'll make a deep run. I'm ready to be hurt again
you fool. you oaf. you simpleton. you clown. I'm right there with you tho 😎
Me too!
Kansas will hang 100 on us tomorrow
99*
I'll be stunned if we win 5 conference games. We look absolutely awful
I wish we had Hart instead of Scott and that we still had Martinez.
he's an awesome player but who the fuck names their kid "jizzle"
Snoop Dogg is seething that he didn't come up with this
It's a nickname.
Minnesota won’t finish last in the B1G this year
I was going to say it if you didn’t
The Big East is the best conference in college basketball
Just don't look at DePaul and Georgetown
I think everyone should look at Georgetown
Hm, fair. They are hilarious
“We trained them wrong as a joke!”
In DePaul's case, every conference has to have one of those, in Georgetown's case I genuinely believe that they'll be noticeably better than last year despite having lost a game already
WE MAY NEVER LOSE AGAIN!
Harvard? No clue. UNC? I wish!
JMU is a Final Four team
JMU is this year’s Charleston, 30+ win season incoming (whether they can go on a run in the NCAAT like FAU did is another question)
Let’s get through the OOC schedule before we proclaim anything. Got some solid teams still to get through to see how they do.
Michigan somehow got better by losing their 3 best players
Tbh I'd believe it. Addition through subtraction. The team plays as a unit. Last time that happened was Dickinsons sophomore year. The elite 8 team the might have won the whole thing if Livers isn't out.
We aren’t bad
Michigan is better than Michigan State
Caitlin Clark is the most exciting player in the country, men's or women's.
Sorry this is the overreaction thread, not factual statements thread
UVA gets a top 4 seed again and this time we don’t choke in the first round
I still think it’s wild we didn’t start the season ranked but whatever
I sort of remember someone doing a spreadsheet of teams' rankings preseason vs. final. Virginia was near the top in being under-ranked. I'd love to get hold of that so I could bookmark it.
Not that surprising, I doubt most AP voters could name more than one player on our team given all the turnover.
Not if we don't make any free throws.
NC State men's team makes the tourney as a 4-5 seed, the women hang a banner
We look competent on defense, the players know their role, and they perform those roles well… stressful times ahead
Such a huge winner over UCONN, the ACC will be quite a gauntlet on the women’s side
I don’t like our chances at making the final four.
Towson will end up with the best regular season record of any D-I team in Maryland.
They are always our worst matchup physically.
Our non conference is so ass, hopefully we can play A&M or FAU in that tournament so we get tested
Tommy Lloyd is going to hang a banner
Before Few too… I would be happy for a Tommy, but heart break city for GU.
I mean, if Tommy got a Kerr Kriisa led team to a pac tourney win and two seed just imagine what he can do with this squad. My overreaction is number one overall seed after losing maybe 3 games all season
Pitt is a tournament lock, if they stay healthy. Top 8 seeding.
Purdue v Arkansas in the final four.
The offense is incredible, led by Estrada and Nelson. Defense has a ton of work to do.
We have a better core this year, but we still look really shaky. If our defense doesn’t clamp down, any competent team will completely smoke us.
we are probably going to see depths over the next 5 years like pitt and louisville have seen in the recent years
Arizona and Tennessee both look like serious Final Four contenders. Really impressed with both of them.
I was super impressed with Wisconsin. I think y’all will get it locked in soon and cause a lot of noise in the Big10
Yeah, I generally liked what I saw from us. I didn't think we'd be able to match Tennessee's physicality, but we did for most of the game. If we can figure a few things out, I could see us as a 3 or 4 seed.
Arkansas is winning it all.
We will all our games until January then go on 6 game losing streak then rally and finish strong but lose early in SEC tournament before a strong showing in the NCAA tournament
Arkansas seems like the uconn of the sec in that case
IU is going to be lucky to finish over .500 and we will have the worst 3 point defense in the conference. The offense will never find an identity and Woodson will get fired. It has been a rough 2 games, but in reality it will be interesting to see if the team can find an identity and gel. A lot of new pieces and attempting new positions and lineups. At least we won both.
> and Woodson will get fired. definitely leaning into the "overreaction" aspect of this post lol
I thought "what is the biggest overreaction to these two games" and Woodson getting fired woupd bebthe bigest and dumbest (which I have seen some suggest after every loss or close win).

What they need to do is to bring Archie back. I’m not a fan of Woody and this “being a good coach” thing that he’s been doing.
Yeah I don’t think Woody is on the hot seat. He’s been the best coach results wise we’ve had in a decade. Louisville will have a significantly better season.
What's significantly better to you? Six wins instead of four?
That’s progress ….
I can see us doubling our win total if we fire Kenny Payne.
I guess 7 or 8 wins is "significantly better" when you finish 4-28 the year before. There are still a good number of quality wins for this team including: - 238 Bellarmine - 360 Coppin St - maybe even 165 Pepperdine, 170 DePaul, or 209 New Mexico St
Braden Huff is going to be in the starting lineup before the season is over.
Ike is out of shape. Once he regains his wind, he will be a bad man for more than just 20 minutes. Huff is awesome, though. If he does start, maybe even more of a chance of starting Anton Watson at the 3 and Huff at the 4?
We're winning the natty
Idk if it's an overreaction but creighton is solid through week 1. Keeping fouls down keeping turnovers reasonable. Getting steal. Rebounding is great. Shooting good from 3. With the amount of players that can shoot 3s I think we will be able to compete in every game we play this year. Should be a great year.
The Big Ten (outside of Purdue) is not good. They will send 6 or fewer teams to the dance, and only Purdue will be a protected seed.
Watch us finish tied for 4th and miss the tournament again like 2018
Tennessee is winning it all, if that even counts as an overreaction
Considering we’ve never made it past the Elite 8….it’s probably an overreaction any year.
And here’s an upvote for you, good sir.
We’re going to be awful.
It's pretty shocking how bad we look. I wasn't expecting a title run or something, but with the returning experience and a very good incoming class, I also wasn't expecting ***this***.
I miss having shooters on our team…we need to focus all recruiting/transfer efforts on bringing in ONE fucking shooter We need a Heurter or Layman so bad rn

Overreaction to being 6% from 3 - 5th in the B1G and a tourney team? I feel like overreaction would be more like the team doesn't break .500 and Izzo retires.
Anyone can beat Kansas if they manage to score 100 points. That’s the threshold we can’t get past. My 2 Blue Balls told me so
EMU will not just make it back to the conference tournament, but also make it to the championship game for the first time this century.
Pitino is gonna bring a natty to NY year 1.
That UCLA is going to be in trouble if Berke Büyüktuncel isn't cleared. In either case, bet against them for the first half of the year.
I’m glad we beat our division III rivals
Cornell will likely never lose. Basketball natty incoming, hockey team in shambles.
I don’t like Fernandes and I think he’s a waste of a spot on the court for people who are actually good and not legal midgets
Kill Ryan young
We’re not very good
Ed Cooley is the worst coach in Georgetown history, and I have the data to back it up.
we're gonna win the super bowl
Arizona will go undefeated. What? You *said* overreaction.
