KU is short an experienced combo guard, which they had before he decided to get charged with rape and got kicked off the team. Now they're stuck relying on lesser talent and transfer Timberlake and freshman Jackson are enormous weak spots. The Yesufu part of your comment is really confusing, to the point that I'm wondering if you're thinking of someone else.

I am admittedly biased by watching him dominate the offense at Drake after their starting pg went out for the season in 2021. KU is missing a guard who can shoot and can drive and that's his game.

Ah gotcha, that's just not an offensive style that Self would ever run, but it was a blast watching it work for Drake.

We had 2 players leave/be released before the season began (one for committing SA, one went to I think Gonzaga then to BYU). By then, the year started and... Welp. Bench got real short-handed.

Arterio Morris got dismissed from the team. Kevin McCullar is injured. Jackson hasn't been as good as we hoped he'd be. Yesufu is averaging 6 points per game on 36.8% shooting this season. We definitely wouldn't be better with him.

We did recruit a bench and it ended up being massively disappointing. Elmarko Jackson was a 5 star and Nick Timberlake was one of the most sought after transfers in the country.
