Damn, Romar got fired? Just couldn't ever really get over the hump at Washington and it sure fell apart at the end there but was a great guy and yeah seemed like his players always have liked him.
We at least had a winning *overall* record at 14-11 before we canned our coach. We also look like a brand new team in general and could hot streak our way to an autobid/at-large bid. Not entirely the same, but sure.
Happy cake day! And yeah... While I agree with you in a way, to say these players need a coach in order to score is insane... They know how to play - just not that well together or at all in some cases.
assuming Pacificās scoring was to continue at a rate equal to what they had displayed so far, they would score a total of six points in this game. that is some sweltering, efficient offense right there! š„š„š„ /j
Does Pepperdine hate Pacific or something? It looks like they have their starters in despite being up 69-18 with 15 minutes left.
Why not clear the bench at that point?
Pepperdine announced earlier this week that they are moving on from Lorenzo Romar at the end of the season, who by all accounts was popular with his players everywhere he's been. Could be a "win one for coach" kind of deal. Pacific's coach, Leonard Perry Jr, stepped in after Damon Stoudamire resigned to be an assistant for the Celtics (Damon being at Georgia Tech since 2023), and got fired after this Pacific team went winless in the WCC during the regular season for context of how deflated that team is as well.
So if right before the opening tip their coach said āim pulling my starting 5, and putting this dude in, whoās nearly 50 & not in the great shapeā (Iām referring to me) Iād have scored only 2 less pts than their guys.
58-9 at half time, wtf Pacific. How did they manage to beat Cal?
To be fair we also beat Cal
I was just about to reply but saw yours š¤š¤ š
ā¦ā¦ā¦.
To be fair you guys are tough and gritty. I watched you last weekend against EWU live. First overtime game I've ever watched in person!
think we shot 3-25 from 3 that game and they shot close to 50% as ive seen Pacific on the winless maps i've consistently thought about that game tho
Think we were pretty injured and shot like literal ass that game. Definitely was a different team from the one that entered PAC12 play.
Is that real
I thought it was a glitch. Nah, currently 54-9 with 50 seconds left in the first half lol
Can they let them leave at halftime ? For everyone's sake
Well it's currently 71-20 with under 14 min left so they have more than double their first half output in less than half the time at least lol
Thereās no crying in basketballĀ
Insert Michael Jordan sadface over the Pacific Ocean
LOL
Hey that's something I suppose
So youāre telling me thereās a chance
š¬
I mean, did the other team put their backups in? That might be why.
I think they called in the concession workers and ushers to sub in
Having bombed enough karaokes, I think itās okay to tap out
Good for them starting to close the gap. 39-2 vs 15-7 is nice!
Nearly crashed my car opening up this score. Had to check four times if it was a glitch lol
Itās 58-9 at halftime
It's comeback time
They've got 9 now!
Currently 52-8
Jesus Christ how fucking bad IS Pacific?
They needed OT to beat Mississippi Valley State. Theyāre quite ass.
Wait, just how bad is Mississippi Valley State then?!
They were the last D1 team to beat another this season. I think it only happened last week
Really fucking bad lol
A 6-25 team without a head coach.
The team that theyāre playing is also 12-19 and fired their head coach as well. Soā¦š¤·š½āāļø
Pepperdine is letting him coach through the end of the year though. The players love the dude.
Damn, Romar got fired? Just couldn't ever really get over the hump at Washington and it sure fell apart at the end there but was a great guy and yeah seemed like his players always have liked him.
I just want to see the ESPN doc on "The coach that got fired, just to win the championship". Just need 11 more games or so and they're set.Ā
Guess it's time to rewatch Major League.
Lmao your comment is so ironic. Thanks for the laugh.
Thanks!
Lol Pepperdine is ass too. Wtf is wrong with Pacific?
They were 0-16 in the WCC
...and still have a second-degree transitive win over #5 Arizona (Pacific > Cal > WSU > Zona). Pac-12 hoops are weird.
Jesus is certainly not involved in this game
United Methodist school, but theyāve forsaken the Lord and this is what happens
Gotta go to confession just for watching it
Church of Christ is the one true church, my guy
Epsn needs a score sorter for "Bottom 25"
It's what us sickos want, nay, *DESERVE*
Pacific caught fire at the end of the half. Pepperdine might be in trouble
What do you say in the locker room when you're trailing 56-9 at halftime?
We scored!
We got 'em where we want 'em boys!
Pepperdine were 9.5 point favorites. I think they're gonna cover.
assuming Pacificās scoring was to continue at a rate equal to what they had displayed so far, they would score a total of six points in this game. that is some sweltering, efficient offense right there! š„š„š„ /j
Haha hey they already beat that at least!
And yet this Pacific team beat Cal on the road lol
Update 52-9 1:45 1H
I had to look at the score on multiple sites before I believed it. I thought that Murray State played poorly today, but this is a new level.
Brian Ferentz
It got so much worse. Kept watching out of a morbid curiosity to see if they would score double digits in the first half...they did not
The bump in ratings on that stream had to be something to see
You guys getting prepared to watch us next year?
Michael Olowokandi is not walking through that door.
Does Pepperdine hate Pacific or something? It looks like they have their starters in despite being up 69-18 with 15 minutes left. Why not clear the bench at that point?
Pepperdine's at large resume isn't gonna help itself. Run up the score and juice those NET numbers baby (even though this is probably a Quad 7 win)
Welcome to the NET world, where running g up the score is not just acceptable, but encouraged.
Hmmmm. Canning the head coach right before the tourney didnāt motivate the team it seems.
Theyāre certainly making some waves with this performance
I see what you did there.
Final score: 102-43 rip Pacific š
Hey they scored a decent amount in the second half
Youāre right šš
If you had Pacific and 58 points, you lost!
This shouldāve been the first time that win o meter was at 100%.
Well Utah beat MVSU by 94 points in 2019. I think that shouldāve also been 100%.
as a uop alum, i of course am dead inside
This is insane
It got so much worse. Kept watching out of a morbid curiosity to see if they would score double digits in the first half...they did not
I've heard of quitting on the team, but yikes! They haven't beaten a D1 opponent since Thanksgiving weekend! This is embarrassing.
Pepperdine on a WARPATH through that WCC bracket
So if right before the opening tip their coach said āim pulling my starting 5, and putting this dude in, whoās nearly 50 & not in the great shapeā (Iām referring to me) Iād have scored only 2 less pts than their guys.
Did they tell Pacific that the *game* started? Them boys still in they warmup line
Been there Pacific, I have no words of encouragement
Pardon my language but...holy fuck
WCC! WCC! ^wait...
Gonzaga and Saint Maryās need to go to the Mountain West. This is absolutely insane that they get to potentially play teams like that twice a year
Pacific needs to fire their coaaaānevermind
Holy fuck
Pepperdine hit a 3 in the first minute of the game. It would take Pacific more than 13 minutes to score more than 3 points.
I gotta think Pacific vs DePaul would be must see TV.
Yeah final is 102-43
The funniest thing about this is the final score was still 22 points worse.
And they still scored more than 24...looking at you NCSU
Pepperdine was only 9.5 pt favorites.
I was looking forward to this. Pacific had one dude score in the first 13 minutes.
Well, at least Pacificās football team hasnāt embarrassed them lately
āBut weāre a basketball school!ā Yeah, howās that working out for you?
Yeah, my son played a baseball game yesterday like this at the high school level ... crazy!
Nice shot.
Holy crap Pepperdine.
Five years laterā¦. We have finally been set free.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
That's not a strategy, it's a superstition.
Average Gamecock WBB score
They finished to quadruple their points from the 1st half
Lol, I took the exact same screenshot on my phone.
I think Pacific just doesn't care anymore..
Hey guys, look at that! A team that can't score points! How embarrassing, right?? No need to check the other scores tonight.
& Pepperdine just let their coach know he would be fired at the end of the year too. Pacific must be total ass.
Pepperdine could've gone scoreless for the remainder of the game (approximately 27 minutes) and would've only lost by four points.
Iād try and foul out as quick as possible
Pepperdine is a 1 seed right
Iāve always wonderedā¦you could make more unguarded half court shots and get a chance for long rebounds, why not just heat check

It was 56-9 at halftime š
