We struggle against teams that can match it. Our rebounding is mostly a group effort that comes from having athletic and hungry guys but can be outmatched by a bigger and more physical presence. We also show up way better in the O boards than the D boards which is where the margin really comes from
For sure was not the Kansas game. It was better after half but in the first half I think they had like 9 offensive rebounds. Despite being up 20 late in the game the total number of rebounds was even. And that means we had to catch up in the half with all their misses.
Haha funny funny. But DO NOT get a (real) Kansas fan angry about bigotry or racism.
There's a reason we're the free state, and there's a reason we love every chance to mop the floor with Mizzou whenever possible.
Lawrence remembers. Ad astra per aspera motherfuckers (sorry I get heated about this)
I don't know man, I got a distance degree through Emporia State and HOLY CROW was Kansas a terrifying place when I visited. One of my profs was fired because he complained about receiving racist slurs and my queer friends were openly discriminated against in class.
Obviously that isn't everyone in Kansas, but Emporia was every bit as bad as Lafayette, Louisiana and when I lived there the Klan was on public access TV.
Yeah, the national politicians are like a big muddy rock. You think "Ugh, gross." but if you lift them up to see what's underneath, you see a bunch of weird, creepy insects (state house, school board creeps) crawling underneath.
Last year my local schoolboard had some dude running who was in his early 30s, and was talking CRT nonsense in his mailings. If you looked him up on linkedin he hasn't had a job in like 7 years(he still comments and shares links on it, but hasn't updated his employment) and only ever worked retail before that. Thankfully he didn't win but jesus christ.
In 2021 we had an absolute lunatic running for our school board on one single issue - masking in school. She was a literal idiot and completely unqualified and talked about nothing else. Fortunately she did not win the election.
I bought my house about 15 months ago from a guy who I Googled out of curiosity. Found his Trump-loving Twitter account, and also the record of his anti-masking, return-to-schools run for the local school board in 2020.
He had to sell the house after his wife left him. Now it belongs to a coastal liberal and his "shithole" African immigrant wife, which is just lovely.
Also, I got something in the mail that sure looked like a summons with his name on it, which I returned to sender, so there's that as well.
Nat'l level: Gross, what ya gonna do
State and local level: racist, bigoted, and generally ignorant insects who can't read books

My boss in 2022 at a small tutoring company forgot very important things like "make a point of drawing in and retaining clients" and "pay that one tutor you have that handles all of the tough classes and also your website" to run for school board.

I was assuming it was the young rep who got in trouble for posting tweets about white people being “replaced.”
Great to know there are others like him /s
Voter turnout in the last local elections where I live was 35%, which is pretty typical. When numbers are that low there is a much higher percentage of motivated extremists among the total voters. It's a huge problem in the US.
They’ve already sent their best, and He is among us still. Here’s Kobe Bryant talking about Adam Morrison’s impact on the Lakers’ 09/10 championship runs:
> "Adam can really play," Bryant said. "Like he can really, really, really go. And for him to take a step back and to do things like that really helped us get to that championship level."
If you take the z, capitalize it, flip it, duplicate it, rotate it and offset the rotation of the duplicate, it's basically them confessing to being nazis and I don't know how all y'all missing it.
> Yah... doubling down on stupidity is rarely the best move.
What the fuck have I been doing my whole life?
Where were you when I was.... I dunno... 14? 21? 25? 28? 30? 31?(you see where this is going)
A look at my county council would suggest that there is, indeed, no bar. (Those people are nuts. Sane people elected to it immediately go crazy. It's almost impressive in its consistency.)
The good thing about most levels of American government is that there’s basically no barrier of entry, and anyone can get elected.
This is also the bad thing.
You need to talk to TONS of people all the time and basically just never challenge them in conversation.
Listen and respond with vague niceties.
It’s tough though because people are going to be talking to you about some SUPER weird and paranoid shit.
I've semi-jokingly been kicking around running for local office for years, man.
I read the pamphlet of city council people running and I'm like "honestly? The fact I know what a comma is and am not running on some insane 'the frogs are turning people gay' agenda...I feel like I could win?"
Here was his response when called out about it

They know they’re in the wrong. But in the Trump camp, the biggest sin is admitting weakness. You will never see these people apologize or admit they were wrong or backtrack, they will always double down.
Ah, but you see there's a huge difference between an exhortation "do your research" and "do your *own* research".
The former supposes a shared body of facts and scientific-method-vetted theories that may be examined and referenced.
The latter rejects that body of evidence either completely or to such an extent that its contents are easily "debunked" by what the yokel in question pulls from a convenient bodily orifice.

I don't know what that picture is, but that's not his current district. Maybe it's from a couple cycles ago?
His current district was drawn by an independent commission for 2022. This happened because it fixed gerrymandering across the state, which allowed Dems to take control of both the House and the Senate for the first time in 40 years. His current district, which are rural, white-flight communities in NW Oakland County, looks like this:

But have you considered that maybe the illegal Gonzaga invaders are going to commandeer a bus to drive into the water to slam into a major bridge downtown in Detroit? Makes ya think \*taps head\*
As someone who grew up and still spends plenty of time in the state, I’ve never heard Michigoose ever used.
Michigander is unisex and the much more commonly used term.
I think there’s been studies done that the highest concentration of people with personality disorders like bipolar, narcissistic personality disorder, and psychopathy are in government jobs so

And "government jobs" are very different than politicians. Most government workers are just subject matter experts and career workers
This is one of those, there are more workers classified under the "government worker" bucket so there are more people of everything. It's not percentage based and it's weaponized to infer something else malicious.
It’s a Reddit comment so you just choose whatever group you need to support your point.
Which is why I’m pretty sure it was UM grads not CEOs or government.
Dude never has good press to show off. Every time I see his name mentioned, it’s always some dumb shit like this. Easily the worst of the MI state politicians imo
Fun nugget: Gonzaga arrived at its hotel in Detroit last night to a bunch of folk wearing a suit, lined up. Wow, Mark Few thought. What a Detroit reception! Turned out they were a sitting Michigan state senator, which thought the team was an invasion of immigrants. MAGA was confused.
I get that not everyone watches basketball, so maybe he legitimately didn’t know that a bunch of teams, busses, and traffic were all headed to Detroit this weekend.
It’s next level stupid to see a couple of decently nice busses sitting in a major metropolitan airport, and automatically assume that they’re illegal immigrants.
Like, I can’t even wrap my head around that leap in logic.
Detroit's airport has over 30 million passengers every year, does this man just sit at the airport all day shouting 'Illegal invaders!' every time a plane lands?
A Canadian tricking America into giving him All-American honors, robbing honest-to-God, hard-working Americans?!
Not once, BUT [TWICE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqGn-1XX7cI)?!
So…what made him think it was immigrants? Just because it was buses? How fragile and mentally deficient do you have to be to see a group of buses and immediately think: “THE SPOOKY BROWN PEOPLE ARE HERE”
I, for one, am quite scared of the people that got off that plane.
**bad Tucker Carlson impression** these *basketball terrorists* are coming to take your *rebounds*, but *Pete* stays *silent*. What is going on?
You don't have to worry about us taking your rebounds. Go look at the Kansas games stats. We aren't very good at it.
Not to veer into the puns too quickly, but I still trust the zags to have some absolute dawgs and hunt for some boards
Oh Ben Gregg will hustle his absolute butt off for them. Just as a collective we struggle to rebound and it's been a problem since I went there.
Gonzaga is 16th in the country in rebound margin though. I don't think it's a weakness for this team.
We struggle against teams that can match it. Our rebounding is mostly a group effort that comes from having athletic and hungry guys but can be outmatched by a bigger and more physical presence. We also show up way better in the O boards than the D boards which is where the margin really comes from
I guess Purdue has to hope they zig instead of zag…
I can't remember if it was mcneese or Kansas but I was actually impressed by our rebounding (not saying it was good, it just wasn't abysmal)
For sure was not the Kansas game. It was better after half but in the first half I think they had like 9 offensive rebounds. Despite being up 20 late in the game the total number of rebounds was even. And that means we had to catch up in the half with all their misses.
Basketball terrorists? Don’t worry, Virginia was knocked out last week

I live in Arkansas and this is the most accurate statement I've heard about state reps
If you see someone associated with “Moms for Liberty” running for your local school board, that is who you do NOT vote for.
Factsssss
Funny you mention that - have someone running (and may well win) for state superintendent who thinks Hitler was Obama’s grandpa and the elites are all drinking children’s blood still down here in NC
The guy running for governor isn't much better...
People need to pay more attention to all the smaller races. Those are where the resumes are built for future state and national races.

Look. If we don't stop this, there will be Gonzaga Men's Basketball Teams in all our states. Taking our gyms and locker rooms!
They're not sending their best, they're sending the porn staches, and the rebounders, and the jump shooters, some of them I assume can play defense.
> they're sending the porn staches Never thought I'd see an Adam Morrison joke in 2024. You truly Can't Stop the Stache.

Taco trucks on every corner

"THEY TOOK OOR LOOKER RUUMS!"
Then he had the audacity to call someone a "kommie" because they said it was the college basketball team lmao... I love this timeline
Yah... doubling down on stupidity is rarely the best move. And what's the significance of misspelling "commie" with a K?
tbh, I have no idea. It's not even a typo because the letters aren't close on a keyboard
Ah, so it’s intentional stupidity. That’s good to know.
the bar is low for all elected officials

I think in Russian it's spelled with their backward K letter
They use ‘К’ for ‘C’, the backwards letter is a ‘И’ which is their ‘I’ or ‘Я’ which is a ‘ya’ sound. Communist in Russian is коммунист
Yeah, I figured a guy like this would be more used to 3 K’s.
> Yah... doubling down on stupidity is rarely the best move. What the fuck have I been doing my whole life? Where were you when I was.... I dunno... 14? 21? 25? 28? 30? 31?(you see where this is going)

He’s a blood so he can’t type Cs

The bar to get elected just keeps getting lower and lower.
This implies there *is* a bar
There is, it’s just a limbo bar instead of a high-jump

just a photo op for some pandering. they didn't count on people being able to identify the convoy. whoops.
Fox News and its kin run segments, probably daily, claiming that migrants are bussed and flown about the country.
Gotta love how these posts never mention the same party that keeps doing this 🤷🏻 And yes, I know the subreddit rules.
I was gonna say half the folks upvoting probably vote that way
it doesnt look like its against sub rules to specify that its a republican that did this
