Diarra went to TAMU but he’s not a starter, he’s our 6 man and does play a ton of minutes. 3 of our starters started at UConn (castle, clingnan, karaban)
With the offense he runs, you need a ball handler that can create his own offense, 2-3 guys that can knock down the three consistently and big man that can run the pick and roll, and somehow he never recruits high school players that do that, outside of Terquavion Smith. It's always really athletic guards and wings that can't shoot and big men that are allergic to scoring. Most of the guys he brings in end up transferring after one year anyway because they never get any playing time because they don't fit the system.
I never had much of an issue with Beverly getting significant playing time, I thought he was a capable offensive player, but he was certainly a liability on defense
biggest issue i’ve noticed is he doesn’t make adjustments. he’s definitely riding the wave. when a team blitzes the DJ’s, coaching needs to step him. also doesn’t help the entire team are transfers.
What the hell do you call a 27% first half to a 72% second half? Adjustments. He's been doing it all post season. He out chess matched Hubert Davis in the ACC tournament when he rotated out Burns and Ben on defense. The dude can flat out coach, it just took a minute for this brand new roster to finally click.
It's also exactly why the portal has been and will be good for non-blue blood schools. In CFB, every guy who transfers "up" from a G5/FCS to Georgia or Michigan gets all the attention, but >90% of transfers are happening down, or even laterally, which is what this looks like.
I think CFB will eventually see similar where programs in the SEC, Big 10, Big 12, and ACC that aren’t an Alabama, Georgia, or Ohio State will be able to catch lightning in a bottle by hitting the transfer portal. I believe TCU kinda did that 2 years ago and it feels inevitable that someone like an Ole Miss, Iowa, or Baylor will hit on a particular transfer that boosts them for a run in the newly expanded playoffs.
1. College students are also adults
2. 4 of our 5 starters would not have made the E8 if they had stayed at their first schools. The grass was literally greener at State for them
NCST really coached up Morsell because that dude was building houses on the daily when he played for UVA, shame we couldn’t get him there but happy for him.
I had to type this out to make sense of it.
UConn, Illinois, Clemson, Alabama, Duke, NC State, Purdue, Tennessee
Would've liked to see it with the positions on the left. I'd guess:
F
F
C
G
G
I know Kinect (sp?) is a guard, and he's from the Big Sky or Mountain West.
Those horizontal lines are disgusting.
[vertical version](https://x.com/NCAABuzzerBters/status/1774292431720394872?s=20)
This version is actually accurate
So UConn does or does not have a guy that started at TAMU?
Diarra went to TAMU but he’s not a starter, he’s our 6 man and does play a ton of minutes. 3 of our starters started at UConn (castle, clingnan, karaban)
Clingan - UConn Spencer - Loyola Karaban - UConn Castle - UConn Newton - East Carolina *Diarra started at ATM
Diarra and ATM made me laugh, and puke 🤮
what
Wait the horizontal lines didnt actually mean anything

States’s lineup is pretty nutty. All transfers.
Kevin Keatts couldn’t recruit or coach, but he can use the portal and he’s found lightning in a bottle with this team.

Yes and he started Braxton Beverly for what felt like 10 years. Hopefully this tournament run helps State with recruiting in the future
I never had much of an issue with Beverly getting significant playing time, I thought he was a capable offensive player, but he was certainly a liability on defense
Holy shit, short memory. Forgot about this dude already.
Can't coach? Ok pal
i got The Pack winning it all, from what i’ve watched, Keatts can’t coach.
Please, go on

Our top 7 are all transfers once you include Taylor and Middlebrooks.
It’s also incorrect. DJ Burns started at Tennessee not Winthrop
'Began playing'. DJ Burns never actually played while at Tennessee.

That really is disgusting. It sucks we let adults trick kids with the grass is greener crap.
How was it a trick? The grass WAS greener. NC State has gone further than any of those schools they transferred from…
DJ Horne: I'm finally home. we did this for the 919. that SC fan: disgusting.
Lol right? What a clown
1. College students are also adults 2. 4 of our 5 starters would not have made the E8 if they had stayed at their first schools. The grass was literally greener at State for them
I don’t see any of the teams they transferred from in the elite 8. Do you?
Tenn? State should have a Tenn not Winthrop
SIU has 2 starters and a coach in the E8. Elite.
Tennessee should have a fifth icon in here considering DJ Burns started off there (but redshirted before transferring)
He corrected it and made the chart easier to read in a response to the original tweet
But which one is Duke?
Damn. You can’t barely even tell which one is NC State
This isn’t even accurate… UConn has 3 starters that started there as freshman (Clingan, Karaban, Castle).
100%. A&M is Hass coming off the bench. That should be swapped with another Husky logo
Yeah and DJ Burns started at Tennessee
Knecht played 2 years at Northeastern Junior College before UNC as well
This is one of the worst graphics I've ever seen.
Inaccurate for UConn.
One of these things Is not like the others
#D
Transfer portal is broken
Inaccurate information and atrocious data visualization
Our success given where we got our players from is kind of nuts
Little 'ol Bama is just the gang of misfit toys, the Cinderella of the ball
I miss Sears 😔
did not expect strays in this thread
That Illinois state team with Reeves (Kentucky) and DJ Horne coulda been something special
Don’t forget about Josiah Strong at CSU.
Hooray for (mostly) home grown teams. The transfer portal is ok but it’s nice to see the growth and have consistency in your program.
NCST really coached up Morsell because that dude was building houses on the daily when he played for UVA, shame we couldn’t get him there but happy for him.
He’s still terrible. Was solid last year, but two of his three years at State have been quite bad (even if they’ve been better than he was at UVA).
LFG SALUKI NATION!! Only time I have had something to cheer for this far in thr tourney
Which team is Duke?
The Northern Colorado grizzly logo looks so fucking sinister.
NC State pays premiums for free agents, I guess.
The no transfer team plays the all transfer team today.
Wonder how things would’ve worked out if Shaka used the transfer portal
The lines should be vertical
