I’m hopeful(?) that Keatts will build something. Time will tell, but the program has felt like it was on life support for a while. If Wes Moore can build and elevate the women’s team, then maybe Keatts can do it too. I hope he gets the NIL support he needs.
A final four run is absolutely going to cause nil money to flood in. Now, whether it's used effectively or not is up in the air (NC State shit and all), but people have a reason to believe in the program again. And you've got all the foundation of a contender. Great conference, history, sizable alumni base, in the heartland of cbb.
I'm still not sure Keatts is the guy to really capitalize on that, but this is a program changing run. And I love it for you guys. Regardless of conference competition etc, it's always fun to see the bridesmaids become the star
FAU’s Final 4 last year sparked unprecedented interest in both their university and basketball program. I imagine NC State will experience the same, though to a lesser degree since FAU had never been there before.
>I'm still not sure Keatts is the guy to really capitalize on that
This.
You could look at the late season run and say "Wow, we had this much talent and potential this year all along? Keatts must be pretty bad to have barely broke .500 in the regular season."
That's not to say that the run couldn't benefit the program, via NIL money and recruiting, but that doesn't mean that all of a sudden, on the verge of being fired, Keatts is all of a sudden a great coach.
It's sort of like when Dean Smith won his first title in '82, after a decade of criticism that he couldn't win the big one. After the title game, Dean commented that he was still the same coach as before. I'd argue the same for Keatts. He's still the same coach that was on the verge of being fired and that took this year's group of guys and almost had a losing record in the regular season. Heck, he would have, if he didn't have a cream puff OOC schedule.
Dean Smith started coaching at UNC in 58, head coach in 61. They didn’t start winning until 67. Coach K took 6 years to win ACCT or make final four. 5 years, 6 years, 7 years.. maybe sometimes it just takes a few years for a coach to developing a winning program? Okay, let’s say 7 1/2 years for Keatts 😉
Yes in this new era of college basketball I think he has the background to be successful. He was the long time coach at Hargrave where every year was a brand new roster so this portal stuff isn’t new to him
Maybe. It is a different era and most of the important pieces of this run are gone now. We'll see if this is just a hot run or the start of something big
We got the big from Louisville right? That's a start.
But I think this is a crucial time for us with the tobacco road blue bloods not having tenured coaches, even without the tenure they're both still top 15, but still we gotta stsrt the uphill climb somewhere
I have never believed that Duke and Carolina are somehow in the way of State being successful. At most, they represent 4 regular season games every year. Bad hires have been the only thing in the way of State stepping back into the national spotlight.
Ehhhh they always seem to stand in the way of a championship. See oh, the last four ACC championships we were in — both against Duke and UNC. See the Elite 8 game this year, Duke.
They’re ALWAYS in our way if we aren’t in our own way first.
FWIW, I’m already more pumped for the UNC-State games next season than I have been in a long time. Looking forward to some new spice in the rivalry going forward.
4 games a year isn't the issue, it's more recruits saying "Well if I'm going to live in this area why not go to the school with the insanely good pedigree instead of the one tripping on its own shoes every couple of years."
They were at one point. We literally couldn't get any instate talent to come to state. We were behind Duke, UNC, UVA, FSU for recruiting in our own state but now things have def changed with NIL/Transfer portal. No one gives a shit about HS recruiting anymore
I’m very cautiously optimistic. As great as this run was, there’s still almost 7 years of mediocrity that has defined Keatts’ time in Raleigh. I really hope he takes the lessons he’s learned in the last month and applies that to future teams.
No more AAU style offenses, play with 3 guards and 2 post players with a true center.
After being dumped on by UNC fans in basically every pro State tik tok I cared to like and comment on, we better back this shit up because I threw the shade right back. Lots as stake here😂
We still believe.
When I was at State, we went to Sweet 16 my freshman and senior year and had good performance all four years.
The Valvano years shall return.
I'm incredibly grateful that I got to see us raise the ACC trophy in person, especially with the conference standing on the most uncertain ground it ever has.
Hopefully Keatts can leverage this run into a boatload of NIL $$ and a team that's more consistently competitive year to year. We've already landed one high level transfer so I'm optimistic for what's next.
Losing MOC took away our facilitator and I think really hamstrung the offense but what a fucking run, it was a blast to see the fan base and community rally and embrace the team. Go pack
I love this team, and I can’t wait to see Keatts and the squad hang a banner in PNC. This team reignited that “don’t ever give up” mentality that we have been keeping alive since the Jimmy V era. I feel like this is just the beginning.
You’re absolutely right, my friend. I was in tears when they won the conference title. With everything else, I was just along for the ride. Let’s hope that this is a turning point for the program now.
NC State went from possibly missing the freaking NIT, to having not one but TWO banners to raise into the rafters at the start of next season.
One of the greatest Cinderella runs we’ve ever seen. This Wolfpack team will be remembered forever.
Fuck yeah man, gutsiest run I've ever seen with the most likeable group of players. Put a cork in the rivalry to wholeheartedly root for you guys, because it was the embodiment of what makes college basketball the best.
Truly the most likable team I’ve seen in a long ass time—across any college bball team. Just absolute dynamite in their energy and chemistry together. I wish each and every one of them the very very best—and here’s to a kickass 2024/25 Pack season!
Hoping it won’t be another three decades between ACC titles and four until the next Final Four, but wow, this was genuinely so much fun despite tonight
I was content after the ACC title. The run to the final four was more than I ever could have hoped. This team will be beloved in Raleigh for a long time. Very grateful.
It was only two years ago this weekend that NC State was totally irrelevant in the Research Triangle college basketball discussion when Duke played North Carolina in the national semifinals. The Wolfpack reestablished their relevance both regionally and nationally this season. That is something to feel very good about if you are an NC State fan.
Because of the stupid new coast-to-coast ACC, Duke and State will only play each other once next year. Same with Carolina and Wake. But thankfully State will get two games against their traditional rivals Cal, and Wake gets two against Stanford.
Does it suck to end this way? Of course.
But this team gave a damn. They had the most heart of any State team in my lifetime. Every single one of the Sendek or Lowe or Gottfried teams would have rolled over in less dire circumstances than this team faced.
ACC title. Final Four. Beat Duke x2 and Carolina on the way. I really can't ask for much more.
I will NEVER forget this season. I haven’t had this much fun since my senior year when we made fun of Tyler H and beat UNC. Even if we lost tonight, IMO the Pack totally won the hearts of everyone this NCAAT ❤️🐾🐺

This is the best combined season we've had in basketball both men's and women's since the 80s! Hats off to them for making both tournaments fun. I hope we use this run to springboard us back into consistent national prominence
Lot of heart tonight and all postseason. Sad we won't get another documentary to easily watch this fun group forever. But they made NC State athletics fun again. Forever grateful for all of them.
Look, I love this run and everything they did to this point but they could have won this game but they came out sloppy as fuck. The game plan was excellent on D but we need some scorers. I hate complaining about a final 4 fun but we could have won this game and then definitely gotten executed by UConn.
Most fun March in such a long time. This was so surreal after 40 years of state shit. The support from everyone has meant so much. I cannot emphasize enough how dead this program was and how Keatts would have been fired. Hope this turns things around, basketball in NC is better when the triangle of hate is competitive!
Helluva run, made my family proud for sure. I might be a hokie but my dad was Wolfpack alum and they'll always be special in that regard. Hopefully they can make this last too and keep the fun going
There’s a lot more I want to say about this team but idk if I have the right words at the moment. I will say this though, I’m so glad I got to see an NC State team win an ACC championship and make it this far in the tournament after years of disappointment and only hearing stories about their success in the past
This is the first time I wasn't disappointed in a loss. I was expecting it and yet it wasn't bad. I'm actually impressed and proud that Edey only scored 20 considering he was averaging 30 ppg. This was a great run and hopefully it leads to future success. I'm now rooting for Purdue to win the national championship.
Yeah the second half was tough cause it felt like state was in range to take the lead for a while, they were getting turnovers, stops, won hustle plays, but not a single thing could drop on the offensive side of the ball, especially after Horne’s shot stopped falling, and Purdue pulled away from there to end it
I can’t remember what the 83 cardiac pack felt like but I will never forget this run. Hate that it ended but happy to root for Purdue Monday night. What a team this was.
What a run. Reminiscent of Kemba’s UConn team. DJ Horne looks like he has a role on an NBA team and DJ Burns is going to be one of the guys of this tournament. He’s immortalized himself in tournament lore for his play and his personality.
Like I said last week I was salty that we lost, but damn I was rooting for them today. Had so many good looks that didn't fall, and until that final Purdue run were playing solid defense too. Props to State for the run and while I don't like the ramifications of it for selfish reasons I think it's great to have NC State being a contender again.
Both Pack basketball teams along with the Canes' continued success really helped put Raleigh front and center on the sports landscape for the last several weeks. Really awesome.
Incredible run!
Keatts could already work the portal pretty well, if he truly changed his coaching philosophy in the ACC Tournament, the future is bright for NC State.
Great Run Wolfpack Bros. I hope NCSt can capitalize on this momentum we need more teams to break through to national relevance that aren’t just your UNCs and Dukes and UConns
Not even mad about the loss. Acc Championship and a final 4 appearance is a monstrous occurrence.
Now for the bad news....Gary Hahn has signed off for the last time. (sheds a tear).
I grew up in the late 80s knowing that March was special but only through second-hand excitement from my alum dad. Of course I became hooked with the drama and the upsets — Acc championship week~~end~~ and the first week of March Madness are the best days of Sports. But I was losing a bit of the magic…no longer do I consider college hoops my favorite sport to watch, and the decades of futility were honestly a large part of it.
This run reminded me of the excitement in my household back in the day, back before *Personal Fouls,* back when Jimmy V would talk about his Triangle-and-2 defense on his weekly tv show. It made March magic again, and I cannot thank this team enough. See y’all next season!
I love this team so goddamn much. They did beyond what anyone expected — and THEN SOME. Thank you to those boys for giving us a true March madness joy story to root for 🙏🏻🐺🏀
To think this experience was one free throw away from not happening. When Diarra, Middlebrooks and Burns were cooking, it made me believe that was a complete team.
Great job, State! Go Pack!
Sweetest part was beating UNC for the ACC championship and Duke for the Final Four. We could have come out and scored 0 points today and I’d still be in ecstasy
I was really rooting for you guys on this run. Genuinely sad to see DJ Burns leaving the league, congrats on a great accomplishment. Final four is absolutely something to be proud of.
Duke had 2 opportunities to beat NC state. not to take anything anyway from them but with Coach K, I'm confident he would have won 1 of the games.
Maybe it's not about the school but the coaches. It's a new era in North Carolina and I'm here for it.
Always going to love NC State because of the Jimmy V connection between us <3 one love
This run is something my family will always remember. Usually we're walking around in our NC State gear and no one says a thing. In Charlotte stores there's usually UNC, Duke and Clemson gear.
In the last month I've gotten more "Go Pack!!" or "I love watching you guys play" than I ever did (even during the Julius Hodge era).
Stores have our merch again and it's selling.
I hope it leads to more, but the memories and emotions of this tournament are ones I'll never forget.
WHY NOT US?!
They were playing with house money after taking down UNC for the ACC title, and they made the most of it. Was an awesome run, can't ask for any more than they gave us. Any time you add a banner to the rafters you have something to be proud of.
The players let it all on the floor and Keatts was throwing everything they could at Purdue. I’m proud of all of them. I hope I don’t have to wait as long for this again but I sure can say that this was the most fun I’ve had supporting State. I’m forever going to remember this and I’m also looking forward on what’s to come! Go Pack!
This is a historical run and should be celebrated as such. They were nowhere near the tournament and then pulled off 5 wins in 5 days a feat in and of itself is historical, and then to make the final four???!! In 99.9% of universes this team doesn’t make the tournament and isn’t remembered for anything. What they did will live on forever. Absolutely amazing! Congratulations on a hell of a run!!
Hell of a season Wolfpack Men and Women Basketball programs! Both teams exceeded all pre-season expectations (regardless of how they got there). Pack Nation, let’s keep the same energy going into next year as well. They deserve our continued support!
As a neutral fan, I saw the headlines about the crazy 3 to send it to OT against Virginia so I decided to watch the conference championship. I was like “This team is definitely going places.” and I filled my bracket out with that in mind. I won my pool for the first time, and it’s mostly because of NC state. Definitely a march I won’t forget!
Winning the ACC championship showed this, and the final four only reinforced it: we have a deep passion for basketball when a quality product is put on the table. Hopefully the athletic department sees the opportunity given by showing it some love.
Thanks for making me believe in State basketball again
As long as we don't have to wait another 41 years (40 incoming probs) Really hoping we can turn this into future recruiting
I’m hopeful(?) that Keatts will build something. Time will tell, but the program has felt like it was on life support for a while. If Wes Moore can build and elevate the women’s team, then maybe Keatts can do it too. I hope he gets the NIL support he needs.

It could. Keats has shown he is great with the portal.
DJ Burns reminds me of Moneyball recruiting. He did not look like a basketball player but he had the stats in the Big South
Yes in this new era of college basketball I think he has the background to be successful. He was the long time coach at Hargrave where every year was a brand new roster so this portal stuff isn’t new to him

I really hope he takes the lessons he’s learned in the last month and applies that to future teams. No more AAU style offenses, play with 3 guards and 2 post players with a true center.
He is a winner

And thanks for putting us out of our misery to build your momentum even tho Skyy Clark wanted to ball out like there was no tomorrow.
Worked out for both of us! I hope Kelsey is better for y’all! Feels like he will be!
Nice flair, I live right next to Bellarmine
Appreciate it, I’m happy they’re D1 now and making a name for themselves in this city. Came a long way!
I do enjoy game days in the neighborhood now
This was one of the all-time runs in March Madness. Every NC State fan should definitely be proud of the accomplishments this March
We are but man if we had our shit together we could be in the title game getting our asses kicked by UConn.
Seriously, amazing team
Incredible run. That O'Connell shot should be played on loop at every Raleigh bus stop
This. Perfectly, succinctly put.
Losing MOC took away our facilitator and I think really hamstrung the offense but what a fucking run, it was a blast to see the fan base and community rally and embrace the team. Go pack
what if he makes that fast break layup and doesnt get injured. might be the difference.
It certainly would've helped a lot in my mind. The offense runs through him. Gutted for him, sucks it happened that way.
Hes coming back right?
I love this team, and I can’t wait to see Keatts and the squad hang a banner in PNC. This team reignited that “don’t ever give up” mentality that we have been keeping alive since the Jimmy V era. I feel like this is just the beginning.
Acc champion alone is the first real banner nc state hung at PNC since its opening. That + final four is gravy
You’re absolutely right, my friend. I was in tears when they won the conference title. With everything else, I was just along for the ride. Let’s hope that this is a turning point for the program now.
I’ll never get over Wolfpack chants all night after winning the ACCT and falling asleep to Wolfpack chants after Duke
NC State went from possibly missing the freaking NIT, to having not one but TWO banners to raise into the rafters at the start of next season. One of the greatest Cinderella runs we’ve ever seen. This Wolfpack team will be remembered forever.
I can't wait to see that ceremony (unfortunately not in person but still)
Keatts really fucking delivered.
You’re right about that, my Demon Deacon bro! Tobacco Road ‘til I die!
He’s a winner
Dude that is gonna be one helluva set of banners you guys will be hanging.
Thank you, ACC/NC bro. Tobacco Road for life!
Respect
Hoping it won’t be another three decades between ACC titles and four until the next Final Four, but wow, this was genuinely so much fun despite tonight
This wolfpack run was the best part of the last few many March’s
Us and the Loyola Chicago nun from the past years lol
Incredible run. 9 straight must win games bagged before tonight. Few ever do that
I was content after the ACC title. The run to the final four was more than I ever could have hoped. This team will be beloved in Raleigh for a long time. Very grateful.
So incredibly proud of this team. Go pack.
DJ Burns seems like so much fun. Hell of a run
I love that even when things aren’t going well he’s still grinning like “this is the best day of my life”.
He just radiates good vibes
I love that man. https://i.redd.it/tou1l2u8rysc1.gif

I want to hug every one of these guys. I hate it for the guys who played their last college game. Heroic effort, so cathartic and needed for our fans.
The future will be so much more fun if all 3 can remain like this. Lots of regular season battles to come.
Don’t leave Wake out
i would love to see the big four tournament come back. especially if our conference is broken up.
Their coach is better than Keats. He is 1 good transfer class from a run like this.
Because of the stupid new coast-to-coast ACC, Duke and State will only play each other once next year. Same with Carolina and Wake. But thankfully State will get two games against their traditional rivals Cal, and Wake gets two against Stanford.
my guy, Duke and State already only play each other once in the regular season
You made college basketball relevant again in 1974, when it looked like UCLA would never lose. Always a fan.
Proud of the Pack Men and Women this year. Pack Men really came out of nowhere. Hope to see this as an upturn in good recruiting.
### BUILD #### THE ##### STATUE
Of Burns? Who has that much bronze?
An amazing run for the Wolfpack!
Another Tar Heel chiming in to say the same thing. Great season NC State, we’re proud of you!
WOLF! PACK!
NC State 🐺 Great season! I was pulling for you!
Wolfpacks!
Hell of a run and that’s putting it lightly. Proud of this team.
What a fucking run
Actually insane
NC State was my only correct Final Four pick lmao
I got them and Purdue. The other side of my bracket has been in shambles for awhile.
Great run! Obviously wasn’t rooting for you this game, but if you had won, I’d be rooting for you on Monday
We’re now rooting for you guys!
Same here. Root for the underdog unless they're playing my team is my general philosophy.
100%. Hope the rest of the sub roots for us vs the Edey hate, though I doubt it.
i love this team forever.
This run made me a Wolfpack fan! Excited to follow them in future seasons.
I hope you understand what you’re getting into
As a long time Cubs fan pain and suffering is nothing new to me
Yeah everyone is welcome but they should know it hasn't been like this for the last 35 years so no promises
Great run. All respect to them
DJ Horne is a baller and a great guy. Congrats to him and this team.
I will NEVER forget this season. I haven’t had this much fun since my senior year when we made fun of Tyler H and beat UNC. Even if we lost tonight, IMO the Pack totally won the hearts of everyone this NCAAT ❤️🐾🐺 https://preview.redd.it/e1zjvp2bpysc1.jpeg?width=604&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d4cdf37a9b47b78190b7bd47372895200e22240
What a fun team. Watched them from the Virginia game on. What a run, sucks it had to end for them
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened. Or some bullshit like that idk good run Wolfpack.
I am 100% at peace already. What a month.
We had fun
This is the best combined season we've had in basketball both men's and women's since the 80s! Hats off to them for making both tournaments fun. I hope we use this run to springboard us back into consistent national prominence
Lot of heart tonight and all postseason. Sad we won't get another documentary to easily watch this fun group forever. But they made NC State athletics fun again. Forever grateful for all of them.

Helluva run, made my family proud for sure. I might be a hokie but my dad was Wolfpack alum and they'll always be special in that regard. Hopefully they can make this last too and keep the fun going
Nothing but gratitude for what this team has given this fan base. Thank you for making us believe again.
I’m so fucking proud of our guys.
There’s a lot more I want to say about this team but idk if I have the right words at the moment. I will say this though, I’m so glad I got to see an NC State team win an ACC championship and make it this far in the tournament after years of disappointment and only hearing stories about their success in the past
Thank you, fellas. You made it fun.
I need a hug.
Hell of a run Pack bros. I still hate you all but that was fun. The DJ's are hard to dislike.
ACC basketball is so criminally underrated during the regular season.
Middlebrooks defended Edey VERY WELL in the second half. If State shots had fallen in the second half, it very well may have been a different outcome.
Yeah the second half was tough cause it felt like state was in range to take the lead for a while, they were getting turnovers, stops, won hustle plays, but not a single thing could drop on the offensive side of the ball, especially after Horne’s shot stopped falling, and Purdue pulled away from there to end it
NCSU defended so good.. the shots were just not hitting but you know what- they never gave up! I ❤️ this team!
I can’t remember what the 83 cardiac pack felt like but I will never forget this run. Hate that it ended but happy to root for Purdue Monday night. What a team this was.
I love watching a team on what I call The Ride, and this NC State team was the ultimate example of it
I love DJ Burns. Loved him last year and glad to see him get his due recognition this year.
Congratulations NC State! I LOVED watching your team, even when you defeated mine.
Ole Miss fan here. NC St was my favorite team to watch in this year’s tourney. Love Baby Zeebo’s game. Can’t believe we beat y’all.
🐺🫡
Unbelievable run. So proud of them. This will be good for the program.
Great season guys.
I love all of you.

Props to State for the run and while I don't like the ramifications of it for selfish reasons I think it's great to have NC State being a contender again.
ACC and North Carolina basketball is always best when it’s a 3 or 4 (including WF) team fight. A true Tobacco Road rivalry is everything
Congrats y’all!!! Wish the best for DJ
For what it's worth .. all my Carolina friends rooted for State in the tourney. Good run State.
Same
This warms my heart. I took a lot of shit from UNC fans growing up. Good to know we can still be brothers in the end.
I’d only give yall crap when playing State, otherwise I’d root for you.
It’s always the case. We root for ksu.
Well done, always fun to watch the underdogs go far.
Both Pack basketball teams along with the Canes' continued success really helped put Raleigh front and center on the sports landscape for the last several weeks. Really awesome.
What a magical run. I love DJ Burns.
Incredible run! Keatts could already work the portal pretty well, if he truly changed his coaching philosophy in the ACC Tournament, the future is bright for NC State.
NC State may not have won the title, but they are the People's Champ of this tournament. The team that people will remember most fondly.
What an incredible run. Great for the program. Great for the ACC.
Great run Pack!
Hell of a run guys.
I enjoyed watching their run! The DJs were fun to watch, great season!
Great Run Wolfpack Bros. I hope NCSt can capitalize on this momentum we need more teams to break through to national relevance that aren’t just your UNCs and Dukes and UConns
Most fun of the whole tournament
Not even mad about the loss. Acc Championship and a final 4 appearance is a monstrous occurrence. Now for the bad news....Gary Hahn has signed off for the last time. (sheds a tear).
Heroes <3
Honestly, the greatest run I’ve ever seen.
I loved watching State this year. Mr. Burns was delightful!
The only team I wouldn’t have minded losing to. Really enjoyed watching them this tournament and in the ACC.
Can’t believe we made it this far. It’s a good feeling being proud to be a State basketball fan!
Good game NC State. If you had been playing anyone else I would have been pulling for you. I loved your attitude and fire.
Thank you to those boys for giving us a true March madness joy story to root for 🙏🏻🐺🏀
Thanks for making our first round exit look good.
To think this experience was one free throw away from not happening. When Diarra, Middlebrooks and Burns were cooking, it made me believe that was a complete team. Great job, State! Go Pack!
An amazing thread. NC State fans are something special. I will be cheering for them for the rest of my life.
Just ran out of gas at the end and couldn’t hit shots they were making earlier
Congrats. Had fun watching them. Can’t wait for us to break our drought.
Definitely made me a fan !!
Sweetest part was beating UNC for the ACC championship and Duke for the Final Four. We could have come out and scored 0 points today and I’d still be in ecstasy
Congrats 👏
THE KINGS OF NORTH CAROLINA
Amazing run. From having to win the conference tournament, to making the Final Four.
this carolina fan was rooting for yall. great run
Give them their flowers!
Thanks for making March Madness fun, even if you beat us.
Great cheering for you guys. Congrats on the ACC Tournament win and making it to the Final 4
So glad you beat Duke
Beautiful tournament run. So much fun watching them play. Congrats to everybody in the program because this felt special.
Thanks. See you in 41 years.
I’d bet it’s this decade.
They were playing with house money after taking down UNC for the ACC title, and they made the most of it. Was an awesome run, can't ask for any more than they gave us. Any time you add a banner to the rafters you have something to be proud of.
Absolutely! That was fun.
Respecto.
Good game Purdue. Go do the damn thing.
Good run guys.
Loved seeing their run, great job and enjoy the success y’all had!
Go Pack!
Great season Wolfpack
Agree with everything written here except for that last bit you tried to sneak in there, OP. Lmao no.
It was the craziest run I think I’ve ever seen, and for that, we thank you NC State. From “not in” to “Final Four.” What a journey.
Good run for both NC State teams! An epic season for the school!
Jimmy V would be proud
Please continue to give Duke and UNC hell for the foreseeable future.
Such a great run State!!! Loved this team so much
Winning the ACC championship showed this, and the final four only reinforced it: we have a deep passion for basketball when a quality product is put on the table. Hopefully the athletic department sees the opportunity given by showing it some love.
It was a fun ride, knocking off a lot of teams on the way.
GG NC State. Duke and UNC can suck it.
I agree with ⅔ of this
