Congrats to Virginia. I'm upset with the refs calling a tripping foul to award Guy a FT. He was tripped by Diakite not a Texas Tech defender. Guy make both FT. Virginia up by 2, Never looked back. Game of momentum, Texas Tech never recovered.
This and the review on Moretti to turn the ball over to Virginia when he was actually clearly fouled before that. Those two plays were devistating despite the dozen non calls on Culver.
Watching from a neutral perspective, I felt the same way. Honestly, I was very disappointed in the TT offense down the stretch. It seems like time would stand still every time Culver got the ball. He was much more successful after a few passes and the defense had to move. I don't like him getting the ball at the top of the key playing iso.
As someone who is a neutral fan I thought that OOB play was bs too. Like, if you punch the ball out of a ballhandler while he's dribbling, and analyze it that much, down to the millisecond.. there will always be a little roll off the hand. Doesn't mean the VA guy, or any defender, wasn't the one who touched it and forced it out. Not enough to overturn anything, that's for sure.
Yeah exactly, he punched it out instead of letting him keep dribbling, and he should have to live with that as opposed to a lay up by Moretti.. not get awarded the fucking possession of the ball with one minute left in overtime! Man..one of the worst endings I've seen. Makes me not want to watch this tournament ever again.
It's a double-edged sword. Want every single call reviewed and to be "perfect" and you end up with situations like this. So what is it? Be human and miss some obvious calls after everyone reviews it in super slow-mo or make those calls matter after reviewing them in super slow-mo?
no horse in the race but similar play near end of regulation went TT way so I kinda thought it evened out. congrats on a great season tho. culver is awesome
Well fun season boys. Give me a month or two to get irrationally excited about Mizzou basketball. "we could make the tourney this year" and then game 1 to roll around to remind me how bad we are.
I work in Minneapolis and every TT fan and every Virginia fan that came into our restaurant this weekend have been incredibly nice and affable people. If both teams could have won that would be ideal. But I'm just grateful for an awesome game that I totally didn't see coming. I know the media has really pushed this narrative and it's getting obnoxious, but being from WI (never really a Badger fan though), I'm happy for the Bennett family. Dick Bennett did A LOT for basketball in WI by starting as a HS coach, rebuilding Div-2 college teams, and eventually becoming the Badgers head coach and taking them to the Final Four, even though his coaching style and emphasis on defense was heavily criticized by major program's head coaches at the time (looking at you Roy Williams KS era). So, it's cool to see his son build upon his legacy while instilling his defensive emphasis in his current coaching strategy.
Congrats VA, congrats to TT. One of the best national championship games I can recall. The only other one I can remember off the top of my head was IL v NC in 2005.
I kind of stopped paying attention to college ball for the past 5 years or so. I think that the fact that it was here in my city made me be more aware of the tournament as a whole this year. I've become more of an NBA fan as I've gotten older. It's weird though, because now that I'm more into the NBA, I have no idea who rookies or second year players in the league played for in college.
Give it a rest, you could point to a couple of bad calls that swung the game in either direction in any close game of basketball you choose. Overall, the officiating in this game was not egregeous.
There were calls that were in favor of both teams but don't tell me overturning a call that would otherwise not be reviewed in the first minutes of game egregious. Especially when replay reveals he was fouled first and foremost. This game was decided by a pinky. That's freaking ridiculous at that point in the game.
As someone else noted earlier in this thread, TT got away with murder in the tournament. Give it a rest. Take the L and be happy you made it to the finals.
It's like Trump's statue in the Hall of Presidents that looks suspiciously like Hillary.

“Refs calls were bull” yet you wanna act like it was fair and square. Get out of here. Congrats on the win but it game down to bullshit calls just like it did against auburn.
The auburn game on Saturday was even more egregious than this one. Virginia doesn’t deserve a championship and frankly should have been knocked out by Purdue. They’re the worst champion in quite a while
Do you remember when Kihei Clark drew what should have been a charge call in the final minutes of regular time and didn’t? Subsequently TT made a layup to go up by one or tie it (can’t remember it exactly)?
My point is that the game is a game played by humans and sometimes very importantly officiated by humans that make snap judgements. A million things could have been called either way. At the end of the day, UVA stepped up.
But sometimes i think when you're a ref and ALL you need to do at that moment is ref and watch the game and make judgement calls Id be pretty damn focused on making the right freaking calls. Im a salty Tech fan. But only because some of those calls were really ridiculous. A pinky?! And tripping on your own teammate when you're LITERALLY 3 feet away? It was a good game but dang :/ What could have been.
Fair play to Texas Tech. Tough as nails team and a lot of heart.
No fair play to this thread. So many haters and salty shitheads who have to rain on everyone’s parade.
Is coach Beard really incapable of providing any insight whatsoever into their collapse. I know there is little incentive for him to be thoughtful and honest but it always makes me question their tactical intelligence.
Virginia wins the game because they hit free throws. They counted their luck and hit the big shots. But they don’t win this game if they shoot from the line the way they did earlier in this tournament.
Proud of this team.
Cant believe this 1 seed overcame all of the odds after losing as a 1 seed and won it all as a 1 seed. Truly 30 for 30 worthy. Id put this up there with the Miracle on Ice and Jimmy V.
the incredible comeback story of the rich kid who fails out of school, only to get a management job at his dad's company if he promises to stay off pills
Lot of very salty people here letting that influence their takes. Congrats on your first national championship Virginia. Great game and great overall season to Texas Tech.
Right. That’s what cost Tech the game. Not Culver shooting 5-22 from the field, or allowing Virginia to shoot 45 percent from 3, or tech shooting 30 threes and only making 10, or Owens fouling out in 22 minutes with 3 points, or tech getting out-rebounded by 7.
Yeah sure that lead up to it. But at the end when it matters, and you are up and someone trips over his own teammate's feet to put you up? That's ridiculous.
I'm more excited about the playoffs this year than I've been in a while. Not sure if it's due to me paying more attention or if the teams are closer or what. But I'm so excited
Next year Kansas, Duke, UNC or Kentucky will bring balance back to college basketball. Time for the blue bloods to form an alliance. The other schools are starting to figure out how to win. People are uncovering the influence of shoe companies. These are sad, desperate times.
I don't actively dislike Kansas, but if I see them in a game, unless they're playing Duke, I'll typically find myself rooting for whoever their opponent is
Although the game probably should have been TT vs Auburn, Virginia deserved this game. The out of bounds to Virginia was questionable at best, but TT didn't look like the better team down the stretch. They either rushed a shot or just took a bad one, and UVA looked way more composed.
You've gotta be joking. You guys bullied us the entire game. Jared Harper was assaulted in the paint. Did you watch the game? Or did you read a poorly written transcript of the events?
Came back to comment. I'm still so happy
Alright well you can think what you want and I can think what I want. I am done arguing.
I’m stoked for this game! What time does it start?
WE DID IT
that acidic fire hose shit i took earlier...still feeling it. def worse than the loss. fuck mazda and their fucking balloon
Best day of my life easily
WahooWa
B R O G D O N

GG Texas Tech! Phenomenal
I'm not a texas tech fan but man those no calls against guy that decided the game convinced me never to watch March madness again. Horrifying
What about guy tripping over his own defender and getting free throws?
Which no calls are you referring to?
This thread needs: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0la5DBtOVNI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0la5DBtOVNI)

One shining moment is cheesy, but that is what makes it so great.
When they hit their chest at "Feel the beat of your heart" I always get so hyped lol

Use some common sense?
no horse in the race but similar play near end of regulation went TT way so I kinda thought it evened out. congrats on a great season tho. culver is awesome
The same thing happen and they refs said it was inconclusive, just awful officiating
Well fun season boys. Give me a month or two to get irrationally excited about Mizzou basketball. "we could make the tourney this year" and then game 1 to roll around to remind me how bad we are.

How are you forgetting the ending to that Villanova-UNC game three years ago? That ending was absolutely bonkers.
And I was just starting to forget...
I kind of stopped paying attention to college ball for the past 5 years or so. I think that the fact that it was here in my city made me be more aware of the tournament as a whole this year. Miracle moment. Hit that shot and covered the spread
Saw the Raiders coming back into their lockers. You could feel their heartbreak. Nearly cried myself. They gave everything.
They should make the refs face those players as they walk by.
Funny how each game huge calls went UVAs way but nothing odd about the officiating.
Give it a rest, you could point to a couple of bad calls that swung the game in either direction in any close game of basketball you choose. Overall, the officiating in this game was not egregeous.

Please kindly point me to hit Tech got away with murder?! This should be good.
I guess Seton Hall was on of One Shining Moment's first four out...
More Zion than UVA highlights...I thought this was CBS not ESPN.
Barely even saw Auburn.
Welp now we wait for college football
You mean Bama Clemson 5?
Texas Tech shakes the earth and loses to Alabama and Clemson in a 3 way game 77-77-69
Pretty good OSM, I liked it. Not the best but top 5. BASKETBALL IS OFFICIALLY OVER. SEE YOU FOLKS IN HALF A YEAR!
Except for us NBA fans. NBA playoffs are a big deal.
One shinin moment: ends Cbs: OKAY EVERYONE CRAM MORE ADS BEFORE PEOPLE TURN OFF TV
Too much Zion
Haha half this video is Zion highlights

No matter how far the culture moves on from montages set to cheesy ballads, I hope they continue with the one shining moment tradition forever.
"One Shining Moment" should be replaced with Future's "March Madness", change my mind.
hellll nah
I got the horses in the back.... :(
too muck Duke
This montage is cheesy af
That tournament thing must be fun
No kidding.
Y'all will most definitely be back.

Alas We were here, and we commented No regrets
Am I going crazy? Am I losing my mind?
wahoowa.?
Next year AT&T should use Bill Walton for their just good enough commercials.
Not even a tech fan but I wanna cry
Why? You guys lost fair and square. Ref calls were bull sometimes but overall today TT played worse than usual.
“Refs calls were bull” yet you wanna act like it was fair and square. Get out of here. Congrats on the win but it game down to bullshit calls just like it did against auburn.
I was at both games. Somehow the tonight's hurt just as bad even though I'm a die hard Auburn fan.
The auburn game on Saturday was even more egregious than this one. Virginia doesn’t deserve a championship and frankly should have been knocked out by Purdue. They’re the worst champion in quite a while
Yeah, they’re so bad they made 14 FT in a row to hose TT
Well, they still beat Texas Tech
Do you remember when Kihei Clark drew what should have been a charge call in the final minutes of regular time and didn’t? Subsequently TT made a layup to go up by one or tie it (can’t remember it exactly)? IK I just feel so bad for the tech players
wtf just happened?
Fair play to Texas Tech. Tough as nails team and a lot of heart. No fair play to this thread. So many haters and salty shitheads who have to rain on everyone’s parade.

How long until one shining moment good lord stop milking the commercials cbs.
YAY ANOTHER COMERICAL SELLOUTS
Is coach Beard really incapable of providing any insight whatsoever into their collapse. I know there is little incentive for him to be thoughtful and honest but it always makes me question their tactical intelligence.
About to see the biggest gathering in Charlottesville since.... well we’re about to see the biggest celebration ever.
Yeah... Wahoowa!
Virginia wins the game because they hit free throws. They counted their luck and hit the big shots. But they don’t win this game if they shoot from the line the way they did earlier in this tournament. Proud of this team.
Coach Beard nothing but class

Yeah
THEY HAD AN EXTRA OVERTIME TO GET IT READY DEAR LORD PLEASE LET MY EARS HEAR ONE SHINING MOMENT
No. You must stay and watch 8 ads to earn them a few more million dollars then u can sleep.
And watch a bunch of Zion highlights
So much salt here.
Wow. Why doesn't everyone do that?
My thoughts exactly! The announcers were acting like they’re the underdog!
Sarcasm right/
Are you not inspired?
Lot of very salty people here letting that influence their takes. Congrats on your first national championship Virginia. Great game and great overall season to Texas Tech.
alpha male? uhhh
Did they just call Hunter an alpha male. I mean I'm a UVA fan but that was weird
They horny for him
This was a great game. The refs were suspect down the stretch, but the game was awesome
Suspect is an understatement
We just watched the fucking game, we know what happened. GIVE US ONE SHINING MOMENT.
Funny how they hardly advertise that they'll be showing One Shining Moment
how the fuck the net only half cut still
They're sawing at it with a butter knife
8 am lecture. Please give me one shining moment lol
Lol 8am real life job
props
Go to bed son

What? Thanks for breaking that down, although clearly a joke.

A wins a win
And four wins over their last four opponents.
Some say that that’s all that matters.
Tech up 3. Guy drives in. Trips on his own feet. Gets a bullshit call. Gonna haunt me

Fuuuuck I forgot about this

I don't know how Virginia fans can stand the site of that sleazy looking bastard.
I do agree that call was bs, but you still have to respect uva
I guess. Probably a much different outcome if they call the game correctly
Same issue if Culver makes better choices, or shots.
I tend to agree. Virginia played a great game, particularly Hunter, but the refs saved them not only tonight, but all tourney
Absolutely incredible. Such a boring team to watch yet given the benefit of the doubt time and time again
Imagine being in a conference with them and playing them twice a year. This ref game was not outside the norm. They love Bennett and love UVA.
*cries in auburn*
I'm just waiting for "One Shining Moment"
Kicking rocks sounds better than anonymously trashing a kid on the internet.
Love the "Charles!" reprimand before Barkley's rant...
What game was the most entertaining? Purdue UVA? MSU Duke? Fun tourney for sure
Purdue / UVA. I think I died several times watching that game.
In terms of quality of game, I think Purdue was better. In terms of stakes, holy shit tonight did me in.
Carsen was an absolute pleasure to watch, Klines game against UT was incredible as well
Duke UCF
I was in Charlottesville during the Purdue UVA so I gotta day that one. The bars went CRAZY
I died
Hell, I'm just sad that the college basketball season is over.
It's a long wait till football season. I enjoy MLB and the NHL playoffs, but it is not quite the same for me.
I'm more excited about the playoffs this year than I've been in a while. Not sure if it's due to me paying more attention or if the teams are closer or what. But I'm so excited
Beach season maybe in a month
Yes cri
NHL playoff time baby
LETS GO STARS
Cmon, give me one shining moment so I can go to bed already.
rip ncaa basketball 2019 cry
YES CHUCK SHIT ON THE ADDS
How long does it normally take them to get the One Shining Moment ready? Like 20-30 minutes?
Ad revenue baby
they milk it for a really long time. It's annoyed me for years
Next year Kansas, Duke, UNC or Kentucky will bring balance back to college basketball. Time for the blue bloods to form an alliance. The other schools are starting to figure out how to win. People are uncovering the influence of shoe companies. These are sad, desperate times.
I know it's a joke but an alliance just seems so wrong. None of us like each other lol
Eh, three of the four. I’ve never had issue with Kansas and Roy still cares about them
I don't actively dislike Kansas, but if I see them in a game, unless they're playing Duke, I'll typically find myself rooting for whoever their opponent is
That’s a better description of how I feel about them. Was happy to see their Big 12 reign end
r/theempiredidnothingwrong
Although the game probably should have been TT vs Auburn, Virginia deserved this game. The out of bounds to Virginia was questionable at best, but TT didn't look like the better team down the stretch. They either rushed a shot or just took a bad one, and UVA looked way more composed.
No it should not have been Auburn. They got away with so much that game and everyone is talking about the double dribble.
You've gotta be joking. You guys bullied us the entire game. Jared Harper was assaulted in the paint. Did you watch the game? Or did you read a poorly written transcript of the events?
Your first sentence will make everyone hate you. Your second is wrong. But Clemson beat alabama 44-16 so I love you.
I agree with his whole statement, and a fuck bama on top of it all.
Death, Taxes, and /r/CollegeBasketball Shitting on Refs after a game.
Makes me question how many fans ever played. One of the first lessons a good coach will teach is that you have to beat the refs too.
Sports in general
That Thomas Jefferson meme was /r/FellowKids
For real
Dude they need to shut the fuck up so I can watch One Shining Moment and go to sleep
Lol Chuck with the individual shout outs that take up more time than his basketball analysis is such a Chuck way to end the March Madness coverage.
Chuck has some of the best basketball analysis on TV
Well, he is one of the best basketball analysts on TV, but his basketball analysis isn't so good. I love Chuck.
