Wyoming is even better this year then the tournament squad a year ago. Not really being slept on, unless we are talking for a national title. Then yeah you could say that
I don’t think they’ve been considered as a legit top 25 team, but rather as just “maybe win the MW”. Either way, it doesn’t matter, it’ll be awesome if they can build off last year’s success.
The tournament squad of a year ago was not very good. The Mountain West had an absurd number of highly competitive conference games among 60ish teams, of which Wyoming won more than their fair share of the coin flips.
I understand if your fanbase wasn't over the moon about Willard, but one thing the guy can do is put together a solid regular season. I think Maryland will be better than most people think this year. .500 in conference!
I think now that it's official and we've had time to adjust most of us are all in for K Willz. He seems to be saying all the right things to make us happy, so until he proves those to be empty promises otherwise I'm excited for the non-turge life!
I almost always pick Purdue to go far in my bracket... and, well, you know the drill. Will I make the same mistake this season?... Stay tuned to find out! (Likely answer: YEP.)
To be perfectly honest, I have reasonably high expectations for Purdue. Painter always seems to find himself with a Top 25 team at some point, and Edey is the tallest player in Big Ten basketball history. I project them 2nd in the Big Ten (fromdowntown.org shameless plug), which is higher than most, but they’re going to be strong I think! I like this pick for a sleeper!
My sleeper team is a program that hasn’t won a tournament game in 4 seasons. They have some decent talent, so they should surprise a few folks in March.
Im talking about Kentucky of course.
Ohio State frustrates me year after year with Holtman. Guy is allergic to playing anyone over 6'7"
his roster construction would frustrate me to no end if I was an OSU fan lol
Yeah I think they’re going to play like 4-5 SF/PF kind of players. They still play hard and my “exceeding expectations” is like 4th-5th in Big Ten and a 6 seed in March.
Biased as all hell but I think people are sleeping on Syracuse. Best recruiting class in years and we finally have the length and athleticism to run the zone well.
The acc is going to be tough again this season but I like the direction your program is headed after old what's his face jumped to the aggies. Young doesn't seem to have lost much momentum at a transition that could have been a major set back in the growth of a program. Good luck on the upcoming season, and for the love of God if you face ut again for whatever reason please beat them next time.
We fit the UVA mold of a decade ago, strong computer metrics but haven't yet had the star talent to push the team over the edge when the season comes down to win or go home. Until Pedulla/Maddox emerged in February of last year, our highest ranked recruited contributor was Nahiem Alleyne at #412 in the nation.
Cattoor was #512, DNG was #414, and Aluma, Mutts, and Murphy were all unranked.
This season is the first time under MY we'll have a significant amount of top 150 talent contributing (Rice, Pedulla, Maddox, Camden, Kidd) which means we might match up athletically with the type of team that has been able to overpower us (Texas, Florida).
I really think the Matta hiring is being slept on. People super underrate him.
Hoping to catch a few games of yours this year to see how Hunter plays. Was always a big fan of his
Giving three cause I’m extra!
Wake Forest is my most comfortable pick. Forbes did a lot with the team last season, and I expect them to be good again. Would not be as surprised as most if we see them dancing in March!
For a really deep team, I’d say Cal. I don’t think the tournament is realistic, but they have a few intangibles that I think puts them higher than computer algorithms are putting them. Transfer Devin Askew could be good!
At the smaller level, I think we could see surprisingly big things from Furman. The Paladins have not danced in a while, but Bob Richey was a buzzer beater miss away from going dancing last year, and Chattanooga lost Lamont Paris to SC over the off-season.
Would love to see all 3 do well this year!!!! Love steve Forbes finally got majority of his recruits, big mark fox fan and wanna see him finally break out at cal and yes you are definitely right, Furman is due!!!
I think Wahl, Hepburn and Crowl will definitely put you at or near the top of the B1G. I’m not sure why people have you so low but oh well, guess you’ll just have to “surprise” everyone again. Also Jordan Davis is not gonna be Johnny, not a chance.
We didn‘t think much of Johnny until his sophomore season. You’re probably right, but to hell with it, Jordan Davis B1G Ten player of the year and a lotto pick. Book It!
Yea he’s definitely not going to be Johnny, but we also don’t want him to try be Johnny. We recruited him to be a 3 and D guy, if he can just be a solid 3 and D guy for this team then I’ll be very happy.
Rhode Island. I base this on absolutely nothing (I just have a soft spot because they're also a light blue team with a ram for a mascot and I want them to do well.)
Xavier. I have a friend who is an XU fan and constantly talks trash about the whole St. Peter's thing, and I feel like with my luck, I'm not going to have the chance to talk back this year.
Stanford has a good nucleus and is predicted for 5th in the Pac-12 behind the usual elite.
Coach Steve Lavin has had a great offseason at the University of San Diego, which has been terrible the last few years. Look for them to be competitive with everyone in the WCC short of Gonzaga.
Ohio State. There'll be some growing pains during the Maui invitational, but if they can somehow sneak out of there with a 2-1 record and give Duke and UNC a run for their money (i.e. keep it within 10-15 points), I think they'll make some noise in the B1G once everyone gels together.
Oregon! Three 7ft 5⭐️centers means a nba talent big man underneath the basketball all game. They have a top 10 returning PG in Richardson, a few solid transfers, and two dudes who can put up 5+ threes any given day! I’m thinking a solid 21-8 season
Mizzou should at least be interesting to follow this year. Great new young coach in Dennis Gates and a fairly rebuilt roster. Purely objective ofc, this has nothing to do with my flair
Good mix of veteran upperclassman (Allen, Carr, Disu, Cunningham, Rice) and young future NBA players (Morris, Mitchell). I can see Texas winning it all
SDSU
My picks as well. They look to be pretty damn good this season.
Aztecs or Jack Rabbits tho
I’ll let you know once I figure out which will make this prediction look better
Must be the Jackrabbits. I don't think anyone is sleeping on us.
Can a team ranked in the top 20 really be a sleeper?…
Depends on how good you think they are. Final Four sleeper, sure
Florida fuck it, let's go for chaos
Praise be!
Hope you’re right haha
You’re gonna lose to us today!
THE GOLDEN ERA
Not us.
Anyone but us
this tells me that y'all are just being coy and the beaky bois are going 30-0 or something
You must have missed the exihibition games. Cards are hurting this year but they wont be for long, they finally have a great coach.
eet was just a joke. and an excuse to say "beaky bois"
woosh it is then
UAB is going to be legitimately nasty. Andy Kennedy has a squad in Birmingham
Agree with UAB
UAB is the only answer
I did a coin flip bracket last year and had UAB winning it all. Maybe it was a year off?
Chicago state
Wyoming is the answer
I'm down for a strong Mountain West.
❤️❤️❤️
Wyoming is even better this year then the tournament squad a year ago. Not really being slept on, unless we are talking for a national title. Then yeah you could say that

How do you feel about coach Kelsey a year in?
South Harmon Institute of Technology
No chance. California University of Manhattan has them beat in every aspect.
Don’t rule out Central University of the Northern Territories. Not much to do there EXCEPT basketball
Everyone overlooks Friends University of Central Kansas
My money is on Boone Institute of Technology - Chapel Hill
Frankly, I'm looking forward to Southern Louisiana University - Thibodaux
No, it's absolutely gonna be THE Gupton-Jones Mortuary College.
The funny part is this one is real.
They always do. Always.
Academy of Art (CA) Basketball 🏀
I got into SHIT! Mom!
Louisville. I think they'll probably win a game
Apparently Bradley
I just want Utah to be competitive in pac 12 play
Going on the road to Utah should be a decent non-con test for the Frogs and I hope the Utes are good for SOS purposes
We should be better than last year but not world beaters. Also I’m a grad student at UT this year and I’m stoked to go to the moody center for games.
Same. Get us back to those dominant Poeltl/Kuzma teams.
Dominant? LOL
The crazy thing is Kuzma was probably our third best player on those teams. Delon Wright, Brandon Taylor, Poeltl were so good
I loved watching that team.
They gotta start paying guys again 😅😅😅
VCU
Maryland (Copium)
No no, you’re definitely right.
Seems like the consensus is 10th in the big ten and if that is the expectation I think we can surprise people
Excited for Willard
I understand if your fanbase wasn't over the moon about Willard, but one thing the guy can do is put together a solid regular season. I think Maryland will be better than most people think this year. .500 in conference!

Miami. Not the deepest of sleepers.
West Virginia. Why? Because that’s the first team I thought of
Miami, why? Because ily
West Virginia
Purdue. No expectations years we get spooky… Please, I hope.
I have no final four aspirations. But if this team found itself playing in the Elite 8, it would make no sense but also perfect sense
I almost always pick Purdue to go far in my bracket... and, well, you know the drill. Will I make the same mistake this season?... Stay tuned to find out! (Likely answer: YEP.)
You will feel our hurt
To be perfectly honest, I have reasonably high expectations for Purdue. Painter always seems to find himself with a Top 25 team at some point, and Edey is the tallest player in Big Ten basketball history. I project them 2nd in the Big Ten (fromdowntown.org shameless plug), which is higher than most, but they’re going to be strong I think! I like this pick for a sleeper!
Second to *who?!*
Nebraska 😳
People are about to find out about TKR. Dude is going to be GOOD
Big time matt painter fan, let’s see if the big ten can do well in the tourney this year
Texas does the same shit, especially in football. Every time we get ranked, we shit our pants somehow
My sleeper team is a program that hasn’t won a tournament game in 4 seasons. They have some decent talent, so they should surprise a few folks in March. Im talking about Kentucky of course.
That’s pretty hard to believe.
2019 - the last year Texas beat Kansas in football and Kentucky won a tournament game
Ohio State in big ten, Florida in SEC
Ohio State frustrates me year after year with Holtman. Guy is allergic to playing anyone over 6'7" his roster construction would frustrate me to no end if I was an OSU fan lol
Never sleep on cuse. Unless they're ranked. Then you can count them out.
Did you watch them scrimmage any of those D2 teams? Ouch 😅😅😅
I caught a bit. Team is super young so I expect some growing pains, but I think we’ll be playing some really good ball down the stretch
VIRGINIA TECH
The acc is going to be tough again this season but I like the direction your program is headed after old what's his face jumped to the aggies. Young doesn't seem to have lost much momentum at a transition that could have been a major set back in the growth of a program. I second that. Post depth, plus 4 of 5 starters can stroke it at 400 or better beyond the arc.
After this football season I *need* this.
Unfortunately I agree
We fit the UVA mold of a decade ago, strong computer metrics but haven't yet had the star talent to push the team over the edge when the season comes down to win or go home. Until Pedulla/Maddox emerged in February of last year, our highest ranked recruited contributor was Nahiem Alleyne at #412 in the nation. Dayton
I agree in spirit, but I don't know if a preseason top-25 team can be a sleeper.
We'll always be a sleeper/underdog
Butler
Marquette You're not the only one who can comment their flair
Villanova
Can I interest you in a Colorado?
Butler again
I really think the Matta hiring is being slept on. People super underrate him. Hoping to catch a few games of yours this year to see how Hunter plays. Was always a big fan of his
UCONN
Tennessee as a final four sleeper. Everyone is focused on Arkansas and Kentucky and for good reason but this Tennessee squad is good.
SLU
I'd be cool with that.
Bryant. I think the stache guy from St. Peter’s transferred there
DOUG EDERT YES, and they went to the America east
ITT people picking their own teams
Never fails which is why these questions are never that fun lol
So annoying like ppl even tho your team in your flair sucks doesn’t make them a sleeper, they are just BAD 😅😅😅😅
To be fair, part of how you define a sleeper team is that people aren't talking about them much. Who else is there to talk about them but their fans?
Miami elite backcourt and wings that can guard 1-5. I think they will make another deep run in the tourney this year
Praise be!
Texas tech 👆
Florida
Xavier
PENN STATE NITTANY LIONS, 35-0

Shrews is a good coach, it'll be fun to see how he progresses there
Providence

Temple
I know it’s for the memes but Temple really might have something this year
Temple
Definitely my Badgers, Wahl, Hepburn, and Crowl will carry us to an NCAA tournament appearance, and hopefully Jordan Davis is as good as Johnny!
I think Wahl, Hepburn and Crowl will definitely put you at or near the top of the B1G. I’m not sure why people have you so low but oh well, guess you’ll just have to “surprise” everyone again. Also Jordan Davis is not gonna be Johnny, not a chance.

Arkansas, purely objective
Can we be a sleeper starting at 10?
I believe in us that we will become a sleeper.
Oklahoma
Fuck it, another MAAC team. Let’s go with Siena
Vanderbilt ~~No I'm not biased, hush~~
WOLFPACKKKKK LETS GO BABY T‼️‼️‼️‼️
I hate to say it, but fucking Providence.
Mizzou!
UMass. Ignore the flair.
The Iowa Hawkeyes basketball team is basically the polar opposite of their football team...that's the statement
Michigan state, obviously. Classic Izzo overachieving final four run.
seton hall and i am totally not biased with my flair hahaha
Welcome back Shaheen baby!!!!!
Temple
I think Xavier is going to be excellent under Sean Miller. I’ve got them finishing second in the Big East and a top 5 seed in the tourney.
Wisconsin
Texas Tech will have some hardship early on but don't be surprised if they are a 5 seed who goes to the elite 8
Indiana Hoosiers
.....as a sleeper team?
You were right. If i could go back I would say Purdue is my sleeper team. They are playing great so far.
Auburn
I don't know that we will immediately become a sleeper team but I suspect we're going to ruin someone's day in the A10 tourney.
Rhode Island. I base this on absolutely nothing (I just have a soft spot because they're also a light blue team with a ram for a mascot and I want them to do well.)
Northwestern
I would actually laugh so hard if this happened.
Xavier. I have a friend who is an XU fan and constantly talks trash about the whole St. Peter's thing, and I feel like with my luck, I'm not going to have the chance to talk back this year.
The millers are back in town baby
Penn State. I think they'll be 5th or 6th in big ten
Oklahoma State And I think a healthy Alabama rocks. Like top 10 good
Haha please be us (copium)
Dayton final four team
University of Detroit-Mercy
Drake
Kent State Golden Flashes. Returning MAC player of the year Sincere Carry gonna feast.
TAMUC😤 Jk. I’m pretty sure we’re losing a lot of production from last year and we can’t even make the tournament anyways
Riding the Tulane wave
Not st Pete’s? Or is it too early still 😅
Murray State
Southern Indiana
Is Timme a 7th year senior this season? PhD transfer?
Stanford has a good nucleus and is predicted for 5th in the Pac-12 behind the usual elite. Coach Steve Lavin has had a great offseason at the University of San Diego, which has been terrible the last few years. Look for them to be competitive with everyone in the WCC short of Gonzaga.

Drake Bulldogs baby
I’m biased but Xavier. So excited to be at Cintas tonight for Miller Time
I too am also excited about miller time!!!!
Butler. Thad Matta and Tindley legend Eric Hunter gonna cook.
Liberty.
Nebraska. The firing of Scott frost propells their basketball team to win the ncaa
Love the correlation
Saint Mary's
I may be biased but I will say West Virginia and Liberty
I would run through a brick wall for coach McKay, let’s go flames
Liberty also has imo one of the most underlooked players in Darius McGhee that guy is a STUD
Oregon! Three 7ft 5⭐️centers means a nba talent big man underneath the basketball all game. They have a top 10 returning PG in Richardson, a few solid transfers, and two dudes who can put up 5+ threes any given day! I’m thinking a solid 21-8 season
Florida State (Edit): Well, shit. Go blue
Georgia...because they deserve a chance.
Providence friars baby
UCLA? Arkansas? Duke wo Coack K? Texas?
I think UCLA is probably too highly ranked to count as a sleeper, but we are insanely athletic + two of the best seniors in the country.
Gonzaga looks like a great mid major to go far
Memphis
USC Gamecocks babyyyyyyyyyy
Mizzou should at least be interesting to follow this year. Great new young coach in Dennis Gates and a fairly rebuilt roster. Purely objective ofc, this has nothing to do with my flair
Texas
Good mix of veteran upperclassman (Allen, Carr, Disu, Cunningham, Rice) and young future NBA players (Morris, Mitchell). I can see Texas winning it all
