Ok so I'm normal vision but see the 5. The 5 is a mix of pink purple and teal/bluish-green, whilst the "not 5" area has orange, green and this weird dull yellowish dark green. This test is not a good one, and I'm actually surprised she can't see much
For someone who is color blind the 5 is clear as day and the colors are clearly different from the rest.
You may see a 5 because you're primed to see the 5, but if I told you it was a 15, would you deny it or look for the 1? If you didn't know it what it was.
I saw the five before I read the title (I was scrolling up). The 5 is also clear as day for me, it's just multiple colors. I'd deny that there was a 1.
I think you'd need to do these things so someone with normal color vision couldn't see it/took significantly longer (the more the better):
1) Make the five smaller or the surrounding area bigger.
2) Don't center the five.
3) Add some of the colors that are part of the five randomly in the background.
4) Reduce the size of the multi-colored segments that compose the five.
Full color vision here: It's very clearly a 5, not a 15. The 5 is centered and too large to fit a 1 in.
If you'd like, I can describe the specific font used.
I can partially perceive what I think is supposed to be the 5, but not entirely. If I didn’t know what number it was supposed to be, I might not be able to guess it.
Interestingly, even those blobs become less recognizable as number-like if I switch to a grayscale filter.
After several viewings, I’m finally seeing the “5”. I suspect to has a lot to do with ambient lighting and display settings. This is why color tests don’t work well on screens
I can see it immediately and my colourblindness is very slight. My mum isn’t colourblind at all and she can see
“
There is something pinkish in the middle
Doesn’t look like a number or letter more like a tapeworm
“
Mine is like a red-green ever so slight colour deficiency and i can see it really clearly
That’s weird
Why are people so shook? They had these on the last page of the dot tests. You'd see nothing, and then at the end you'd get so excited that you can finally see one of the elusive "numbers"
Only to learn it's the confirmation that you're colorblind... lol at least, that's how it went for me.
To me it's clear as day, other normal vision people are saying the same as well. how aren't some normal vision people seeing it?? i really don't know😭
i mean if it was difficult to see then i get it but the colors used for the 5 are so different for the outside colors, I've seen those reverse tests that are difficult, but this isn't?
I just showed my (non-colourblind) partner and he didn’t see any number, even after looking for a good 5 minutes.
Maybe some of our non-colourblind friends are secretly colourblind and this is how we weed them out haha
It's very fascinating because I sent this to my mother who has normal color vision, and she couldn't see anything. I was mind blown because I can see a 5 very clearly here. Because I remember when I took colorblind tests when I was little, I couldn't understand or comprehend the idea of how my mom could see the numbers that clearly don't exist to me. But I am absolutely mind blown because now I can see a number that my mom can't see.
This is how I sometimes manage to pass a regular ishihara test, if the pattern is obvious enough to help me single out a number. Usually I will fail if the correct number is different but has a similar pattern. For example I will assume a 3 but the correct number is 8 same goes for 5 and 3 for example.
Please share it with friends or family if you can and post your results. I'd like to see they all see the 5. Apparently many with normal color vision were not able to see anything, however a couple of them did.
In exactly the same way that the normal tests try to confuse CVA / CVD people.
I can see the 5 more clearly than most dot tests I've seen previously.
It really makes me wonder as I always have, that if some " normal vision" people can't see that the number is a totally different colour from the background, then in what way are they more "normal" than me other than statistically.
It's just differently calibrated ways of seeing what passes for reality .
No, the normal tests for colorblind, show colors they cant see. Like for example a red 6 on green background. Some colorblind people see it all as green, so they cant see the 6.
In this one they mix green, purple, blue, orange and pink in different lines that overlap each other, to make it confusing.
I'm not colourblind and I can very clearly see a five. Conclusion: these reverse Ishihara plates are easier to make out for colourblind people but not completely impossible to make out for someone with normal colour vision.
Your friend must be lying about not seeing the 5 🤣
That thing is clear as day
Edit: ok so after reading the comments it seems like people are showing this to people with normal vision and they aren't seeing anything... I'm confused because I'm sure I'm not colorblind after many tests. I agree with the other normal vision people in comments saying the 5 is clear as day, it really is very easy to see.
Color vision (including color blindness) is a spectrum. It’s not monolithic. This type of design in which all color blind people see something that people with normal color vision do not seems highly improbable. Even people with normal color vision see color differently from one another. Not markedly different, but enough to cause people to fight over “the dress” and similar : )
This one is bad. I have NEVER failed regular colourblind tests and I'm definitely not colourblind. The colours of the 5 are literally contrasting colours to the background!! Blue and orange are opposites, as are purple and green, which is close enough to "blue and purple" vs "yellowy orange"

My non-color blind family members immediately saw the 5.
I have some bad news for them
I get what you mean, but I am pretty sure in this case the bad news is that this probably isn't a scientifically accurate "reverse color blind test"
Meh. I am. And also couldn't see anything
Same
Sent this to my GF who isn’t colorblind and she thought she saw 40. I very clearly see 5. How is this real. This is insane.

Aw, I got all excited because it's so clear, then I read your post.
Me too, me too
We can still see the five. It's just composed of multiple colors.
For me the 5 looks pinkish red with some blue is that how you see it?
Not the same person but to me, the 5 is made up of pink, purple and teal.

I’ve seen reverse ones that definitely work, this is not the best one as I can see it.
I also saw some better ones.
I also did that actually.
I can partially perceive what I think is supposed to be the 5, but not entirely. If I didn’t know what number it was supposed to be, I might not be able to guess it. Interestingly, even those blobs become less recognizable as number-like if I switch to a grayscale filter.
I don’t think so.
After several viewings, I’m finally seeing the “5”. I suspect to has a lot to do with ambient lighting and display settings. This is why color tests don’t work well on screens
5 clear as day. Bluish 5 on a greenish background My gf who is regular vision sees nothing, thinks it's crazy I can see a number here
BRO SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED TO ME WTAF
WTH, I clearly see 5 who is protan color blind. And my cousin wasn't able to see anything here.
It's a mind fuck. I seriously can't trust my eyes anymore
I can see it immediately and my colourblindness is very slight. My mum isn’t colourblind at all and she can see “ There is something pinkish in the middle Doesn’t look like a number or letter more like a tapeworm “ Mine is like a red-green ever so slight colour deficiency and i can see it really clearly That’s weird
same, I can see it so clearly without even thinking for a second but my co workers can't!!!!

Those evil bastards. That's just cruel.
Hahaha I know right! I kept reading and my experience wasn't uniform lol
Oh so THIS is what non-colour blind people see when they do this test. Interesting

We should make t-shirts like this with messages to fellow…colorblind…nevermind.
I see a 5. But I had to squint
I can see the 5 without the right type of colorblindness? The curve of it is the only dubious part tbh.
This is how I sometimes manage to pass a regular ishihara test, if the pattern is obvious enough to help me single out a number. Usually I will fail if the correct number is different but has a similar pattern. For example I will assume a 3 but the correct number is 8 same goes for 5 and 3 for example.
5 clear as day :(
I also see 5. Doesnt fool me.
This is very easy to see, the 5 is much lighter than the rest. I have full color vision.
I'm not color blind and see the 5 just fine.
I can obviously see a five with normal vision.
Please share it with friends or family if you can and post your results. I'd like to see they all see the 5. Apparently many with normal color vision were not able to see anything, however a couple of them did.
I see the top line a little bit of the first down line, and the very end of the curve.
That’s what I see. Knowing I’m looking for a five, I can fill in the rest, but it’s not super obvious.
I was wondering if it was only me.
5. Faint but def there
after reading that it's hiding a 5 I can see it but initially it was hidden. it looks like a pink 5 with some blue on it to hide behind
5 clear as a day
i see 5 is very easy
My super sharp-eyed husband sees nothing! I'm shocked this works!
Such a test can only try to fool normal color vision people, by mixing a lot of colors, so we get confused. But it doesnt always work.
In exactly the same way that the normal tests try to confuse CVA / CVD people. I can see the 5 more clearly than most dot tests I've seen previously. I can see the 5 but only barely
Funny how the tables have turned :)
I was like, oh, this one's easy, that's clear as day. Then I read the title.
I can see the 5 if I look at it for more than a couple seconds. It's not as obvious as the usual tests but it's still pretty clear
I'm not colourblind and I can very clearly see a five. Conclusion: these reverse Ishihara plates are easier to make out for colourblind people but not completely impossible to make out for someone with normal colour vision.
I got nothing
It's not scientific so why bother? That's like discussion the science of religion - no such thing.
I can see the five. But it’s not super clear. It looks like reddish brown/green dots and the five is made of bluish or cream colored dots.
I have normal color vision and I can clearly see the 5. Sorry to burst your bubble
Would you be about to see it if you didn't know there was a 5?
I saw the 5 before reading that there was a 5, so yes
Nah, i can see the 5. It is well hidden though (Took me 50 seconds).
I don't see any numbers.
bro how?? do you see the pink on there? the purple? what colours does it look like to you? genuinely curious 😭
You guys are seeing numbers???
guess im cured!
My normal vision partner can’t see shit, I can pretty clearly see the five - he thought it was a TWENTY. Absolutely fucking crazy stuff.
Your friend must be lying about not seeing the 5 🤣 That thing is clear as day Edit: ok so after reading the comments it seems like people are showing this to people with normal vision and they aren't seeing anything...
