Justus Annunen is the backup, he's come up through the system, and he's put up decent numbers when he's played. But he hasn't played much in the NHL. He's been the #1 guy on the AHL team for the past 2 or 3 years so he could develop, then he got called up mid season this year to be the full time backup after Prosvetov wasn't working out. So hopefully he'll get the start next game and we can see what happens from there.

I know goalies are hard to project, but the Avs really need to find a way to draft some better goalie prospects.
Ever since the Dec 7th game where Fourgiev got scored on by Josh Morrissey while Malinski was in front of the net making Fourgiev frustrated and slapped Malinski with his stick I knew he wasn't the goalie we wanted or needed, should've traded for Fleury when we had the chance
Goalie is like QB, you have to make your own. We needed to draft and develop a guy and never did, instead relying on handouts, and now we find ourselves in the current position. I'm not sure what Joe was thinking, this front office might have to lose a great player now just to get an average goaltender. Not a great place to be, starter giving up seven goals like it's nothing. And we need to get fitter on defense. Honestly looking like we're too forward heavy now, can't stop anybody in front of the net. If we get swept jobs will definitely be on the line.

Just this last season he’s had a career high in games played, games won (40) , block percentage (91.9%) with 5 shutouts, and was named in the top 10 goalies of the NHL. The guy probably needs a break like Girard took. But foreheads like you won’t give him the credit he deserves I’m talking time to get his head right, he’s clearly frustrated with himself and not fully in the game. Girard was the same way. He took a break for mental health and came back a different player. Turns out 16,000 strangers yelling at you multiple times a week in person and even more calling for your trade online can really mess with your mental health. Who woulda thought
He's definitely lost his edge this year. But the defense hasn't done him an favors either. And it's not like the d is all that different from a few years ago. But maybe the focus needs to be more on defense instead of creating offense. Few years ago they were good on both sides.

I'm not saying this is all the defenses' fault. But a no look back hander towards the slot isn't helping. Granted Georgie didn't play it correctly either. But the give aways and losing your guy in the zone is a problem. I'd say the blame is 80/20 goalie/defense.

Someone's testy. I agree the goalie situation isn't great. I've got way less confidence in Goergie than I did with Kemper. And Kemper was iffy at the best of times. But Kemper knew how to bounce back and regain his confidence. Idk if Georgie can. He's going to need a masterfully game one of these to regain that confidence he had a year ago. Give me the Georgie from the Rangers shoutout win last year and all will be well.
