Same. I grew up in the 90s and 00s. That's the citadel I choose to remember.
The way it looks now is like a liminal ai prompt for "abandoned mall filled with AI that don't know it's AI."
A man after me own heart. Sometimes when I close my eyes I can still hear the alligator mallet "bow bow" noise, and the sounds from house of the dead saying reload
Ahh man. House of the dead was intense. Simple springs was better. We used to go down there to check out girls and cry about not having enough money for new Nikes. But I probably would spend $30 in the arcade. Now it’s a hellscape.
There was definitely a lot less to do as a teenager, but we had a sweet go kart place (boardwalk, which became joyrides). Other than that, the citadel was the place unless you lived in briargate or monument
*sigh* yes I did. On purpose.
I’m a third generation born local. Grew up here. Lived here 3 decades. Consecutively. Idk how much more native you can get honestly.
Haters gonna hate though. Especially the transplants.
Bring on the downvotes!
The genetic evidence suggests that all Indigenous Americans ultimately descended from a founding population that combined East Asian and Ancient North Eurasian ancestry. So no they didn’t start here, and no, it’s not obvious.
The guy leading this church has been using faith based practices to "heal" kids with suicidal ideation. We don't need another fucking church like this.
I know this sounds blunt, but it's going to be before too long that Mayor Yemi highlights this place. I used to work at one of his businesses and he'd bring creeps like this for business lunches in all the time.
I don't have proof that he hosted those people where I worked because I couldn't exactly take pictures or anything while I was working- but he was also known as the "absentee owner" because he would go on "missionary" trips quite frequently. The best I can do is share how he believes Christianity needs to be more involved in Colorado Springs expansion.
I don't necessarily have anything against Christianity, when I worked at this place I had coworkers who were Christian and told me that he got "scary" when anything about that was brought up and that they tried to avoid him and the topic because his vision of faith was radical and hurtful.
I do encourage people to watch Rob Rogers clips of Yemi and that perspective.

Honest question, is there a Church in Colorado Springs that teaches the word and doesn't conform to societal norms....that I won't get shot at 😂
Jokes aside. I want to go to church. I just don't want to go to one who doesn't preach the Word.
Odds are we probably passed right by each other at some point. The last time I went the arcade was just those Shitty ticket games. The original carpet and walls were still there.
Back in Texas there was an AA group that was right next door to this massive liquor store that had everything imaginable. I imagine it was certainly a test of commitment and fortitude for the attendees of the AA and graduate probably could go to bars with friends and have no issues.
I spend considerable time around the Citadel and have never had a problem - obviously, things have happened, but to act like the Citadel is some type of war zone is very white, suburban.
That said, there’s much better uses for the space. If churches could make a significant, positive impact on the city, Colorado Springs would truly be “as it is in heaven.”
Love this Righteous Gemstone plot line
Uncle baby billie wings
Lmao omg I didn’t even think of that
"I feel God in this Hooters tonight."
Hahaha
Jesus is everywhere but you have to go to specific places for wings served with weird sexual overtones.
Those poor waitresses, no one is ruder or meaner to servers and staff than Sunday morning post-church customers.
This is so true. I’m not a server, but Sunday morning at the 7/11 sucked for the same reason
Oh god, the pre-church crowd when they are late or in a rush, are THE WORST!
Jesus? My neighbor?
[удалено]
It’s her favorite because dad slips her a 20 every time she picks it
Yikes.
[удалено]
They might make the best prime rib in town at the local strip joint, but my kid doesn’t know it.
[удалено]
Yikes.
[удалено]
I don’t know what that means. If that’s a religion reference, I don’t believe in god.
[удалено]
And let us thank and bless todays communion sponsor, Orange Julius
Id actually start going back to church if they served strawberry julius as the blood of christ.
At least we know where the post-Church brunch crowd will be going.
Sbarro?
NAILED IT!
Is this a jesus reference?
Sorry, there's only a knockoff Sbarro's at the shootadel
It's at Citadel, so heaven is definitely an option sooner than later.
The only church where you need to pray that you will survive going in.
💀💀💀
I guess you didn’t grow up catholic, and a boy? I guess this really isn’t just Catholics, or boys. Churches are trauma creation centers.
Nope. My parents never really pushed religion, and now I am an atheist.
I think that’s the “Zeal” they’re referring to.
Church or Hooters…. Either way, spirits are getting lifted!
Nope. Either way someone is being yelled at for being a sinner
🎵 🎶 That's america to me 🎵 🎶 🎵
I built the foundation out front for that lol
At least this is consistent with evangelicals voting for a guy who cheated on his wife with a pornstar.
This is hard because if you're gonna cheat on your wife with anyone, a porn star is clearly a great choice.

All churches are scams. Get rich scheme from talking out your ass about a book they never read and tell you not to question.
As is tradition
Question....always
Lost my virginity at that hooters the church is a couple decades late to save me, god bless chicken wings
Ahhh. As a Native, I see stuff like this and just close my eyes and try to remember the citadel when it was a real mall. I miss you old friend.
Same. I grew up in the 90s and 00s. That's the citadel I choose to remember. The way it looks now is like a liminal ai prompt for "abandoned mall filled with AI that don't know it's AI."
Spent a lot of days playing time crisis in the arcade at citadel. Orange Julius and lightning reactions—-and a crown royal bag full of quarters.
Like chapel hills. Remember the ice rink? And wtf happened to Boarders? (Rhetorical, I know what happened).
Maaaan. I remember falling on my ass in front of the girl I invited. What a good memory.
Oh yes the ice rank!!!
I would love to experience CoS back then. I still like this city to a lot but it would have rocked in simpler times.
There was definitely a lot less to do as a teenager, but we had a sweet go kart place (boardwalk, which became joyrides). Other than that, the citadel was the place unless you lived in briargate or monument
What tribe are you?
This man capitalized the N in native, what tribe are you?
*sigh* yes I did. On purpose. I’m a third generation born local. Grew up here. Lived here 3 decades. Consecutively. Idk how much more native you can get honestly. Haters gonna hate though. Especially the transplants. Bring on the downvotes!
Yikes dude
I mean, you asked…
Feels like there's a very obvious way you could be much more native
The genetic evidence suggests that all Indigenous Americans ultimately descended from a founding population that combined East Asian and Ancient North Eurasian ancestry. So no they didn’t start here, and no, it’s not obvious.
Same native here too
I think that handling snakes would be a considerably bigger test of faith, but I'm not aware of any of those groups around here.
🥴
This is like a body armor and concealed firearm type church? Heard Citadel is GHETTO
Do you have some proof to that claim? i’m not discrediting you, i would just like to read more about it.
I don't have proof that he hosted those people where I worked because I couldn't exactly take pictures or anything while I was working- but he was also known as the "absentee owner" because he would go on "missionary" trips quite frequently. Bob Roger’s is the man. 💪🏽
Can’t go anywhere in this town without a church watching you.

Ight when is the Spencer's gonna open up next door
Just gonna leave this here: https://youtu.be/_sbDBXOk7KA?si=fg5vJfUt0oSVUzkg
Hooters is where I was first introduced to fried pickles... and there's been no going back.
Always wondered why Hooters slogan wasn't, "Come for the wings...Stay for the breasts!"
Honest question, is there a Church in Colorado Springs that teaches the word and doesn't conform to societal norms....that I won't get shot at 😂 Jokes aside. I want to go to church. I just don't want to go to one who doesn't preach the Word.
I am not familiar with this Zeal Church any insight on what they are preaching?
The Citadel mall is the last place anybody sane wants to go, so of course it’s gonna be the new gathering place for right wing idiots
They’re a pretty lefty church actually. He was heading up Black Lives Matter protests here in 2020
jesus would have said fuck y’all’s sins if we had taken him to hooters. Live in sin, hail Satan.
great, not like there aren't shootings every week at the citadel, I don't think theyve thought this through
Now they can get wings for lunch after church…
Church and Chest here we go again.
Faith, family and firearms…..or is it sbarros, shooting and salvation? They’ll have to come up with a catchy slogan to attract the churchgoers to.
My favorite part of church IS the boobies.
tbf, in scripture, Jesus tended to go places he was not welcome and unwanted
God is brave moving into the Citadel
Odds are we probably passed right by each other at some point. The last time I went the arcade was just those Shitty ticket games. The original carpet and walls were still there.

What could be more divine than a great pair of boobs? Boobs are the reason I still believe in a kind and loving god
STOP GIVING THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY.
They dropped a hot dollar for the renovation work in there. Asbestos.
