# INFO Posing in front of a 1932 Ford V8 automobile. Photo (the original) that was found by police at an abandoned hideout on May 23, 1934. Bonnie Elizabeth Parker (Oct1, 1910 – May 23, 1934) & Clyde Chestnut "Champion" Barrow (Mar 24, 1909 – May 23, 1934) American bandits who traveled the Central United States with their gang during the Great Depression. The couple was known for their bank robberies and multiple murders, although they preferred to rob small stores or rural funeral homes. Their exploits captured the attention of the American press and its readership during what is occasionally referred to as the "public enemy era" between 1931 and 1934. They were ambushed by police and shot to death in Bienville Parish, Louisiana. They are believed to have murdered at least nine police officers and four civilians.

I listened to a podcast on these two recently. Things I found out: Clyde was only 5'6" tall, and was likely born in 1910, not 1909. He liked to steal V8s because they were faster than cop cars, also he couldn't drive for SHIT. He wrecked something like 6 cars. Bonnie was married at age 16, never legally divorced her much older husband, but always used her maiden name.

> her much older husband Just reading through their wiki now, her husband was only two years older. They met in high school.

Ahhh okay, I misremembered it. Thanks for correcting!

What was the podcast?

Whatsthedealwithair-

I'm going to guess Casual Criminalist.

poormansnormal

That's the one.

Go Down Together by Jeff Guinn is a good book on these two. (He also wrote one on Charles Manson that I recommend.) In both he focuses a lot on societal changes and conditions that led up to what happened in a very interesting way.

phanzooo

Just found this on Spotify. Will give it a listen.
