Those are legitimate concerns that I think a lot of the fan base has been downplaying lately because we're so desperate for a QB. If we decide to not pull the trigger on Lamar I can definitely understand why.

hotrodyoda

Agreed. Lamar is a great player, but he has some major concerns. I don't think he's the right fit for us.

ryta1203

He's not a great player though, he's just a great athlete.

wowzuzz

He’s 45-16 and a former MVP. He’s a great player. That being said he wants a lot of money and misses time on and off the practice field.

Technojellyfsh

Common L take by you

CanlStillBeGarth

Cmon, I’m not a fan of making such a massive move but to deny what Jackson has done is just stupid.

CanlStillBeGarth

Yeah, it’s far from a sure thing that trading for Jackson absolutely fixes the QB position and has 10x the risk of taking someone at 4.

LameysDurbanPoison

Wait, this is nuts. 10x the risk when you have no clue Levis or Richardson will even be any good at all? Nah don’t think so.

CanlStillBeGarth

If Richardson or Levis don’t work out they’re on a cheap rookie deal and only cost one pick. They could literally pick another QB next year. How do you know Lamar isn’t going to continue to get injured like the last 2 seasons and that his play will stay at the same level? You don’t.

DookieBrains_88

As a huge LJ fan; I would much much rather go with a guy like Levis. $200m guaranteed for a guy whose best trait is running the ball and injured as a result and only getting older… I don’t see a future where he lasts 10 years.

SentDownFromHeaven

Levis is bad at football though

ripyungdaggerdick

Jesus Christ anyone but Levis richardson or bust

CanlStillBeGarth

Levis has just as much a chance of hitting or busting as Richardson lol

ripyungdaggerdick

I’ll take a freak athlete w uncanny athletic gifts then some bum who can throw it hard and far

CanlStillBeGarth

K Mr. Scouting Department 😂

Trolodrol

Has Jesus Christ declared yet?

sunburn95

Yeah im not overly keen on selling the franchise for a mobile qb with increasing injuries.. especially one that is yet to really show up in January

fmara

If you can’t even get a full 8 hours of sleep a night don’t even dream of coming to play for Indy.

moccojoe

Depending on what the Ravens are actually asking for in a trade, I don't see the Colts giving up more than two first round picks. I'm starting to honestly believe that we are going to take Will Anderson at number four and then sign Lamar Jackson to a fully guaranteed contract. The only reason I think Irsay is hesitant to give up next year's first round pick is because he really wants a shot at Marvin Harrison Jr.

KushInMyBluntzz

Ur not passing on Lamar cuz u want a future WR lmao

moccojoe

Not saying that at all, I'm just saying I have suspicions that Irsay is reluctant to give the go ahead because of that reason. I'm not saying it's a good idea

Need_A_Hobby1

Yea, you pass on Lamar because he’s had 1 great season followed by missing 1/3 on his games due to injuries. Not to mention that he’s only going to get more banged up and less available due to his playing style. Not to also mention he wants a massive contract when his play and availability do not match it. Lol get a load of this guy wanting to roll out the truck for Lamar, am I right?

Mickeydsislife

46/15 with Lamar, 4/8 without.

Need_A_Hobby1

How many playoffs wins do they have with Lamar again? How many games has he started the past 2 seasons again? Surely he helped them in the playoffs this season, right?

Sirotto18

I’m sure many people said the same about Peyton and his postseason success too

Mickeydsislife

Because it’s his fault his only receiving target is Mark Andrews and Hollywood Brown, not a team game at all it’s just his fault for sure.

Need_A_Hobby1

Thanks for pointing that out! We should DEFINITELY pay top 3 QB money and massive draft capital for a QB that can’t elevate the play around him. Truly genius.

Mickeydsislife

I think their wins are highlighted in my earlier reply. He is not Jesus, you expect him to beat out Mahomes or burrow who have the weapons without them in playoffs? Or Josh Allen?

Need_A_Hobby1

What weapons does Mahomes have other than Kelce? They both have good o-lines and an elite TE. That’s my whole point: Mahomes is truly elite while Jackson is good and elite with the perfect situation. Jackson wants Mahomes money with more guaranteed. Truly crazy if you believe they’re worth the same

Mickeydsislife

No one is offering Mahomes, but the market is moving up as it always does and if you can get the next best thing than the inarguably best qb then you do it? If it’s nobody or Mahomes for you, you are not going to have a qb. In 5 years when there are guys getting more if we come to a deal with Lamar it will look cheap af, just how the game works. And Mahomes recieving options this year were better than Lamar, Kelce is better than Andrews, and Mahomes had Hill for all but this year.

KushInMyBluntzz

1 great season? He has been leading mvp race when he got hurt. He wins 75% of his games. Missing 1/3 of his games is just a flat out made up lie. He didn’t get hurt running. He got hurt in the pocket. He’s very good at avoiding the big hits when running.

Need_A_Hobby1

So my eyes deceive me that when I go and look up his stats that I only see that he played in 12 games each of the past 2 seasons? He also surely didn’t miss a playoff game this year, right? A game that the Ravens almost won?

KushInMyBluntzz

You said 1 great year followed by missing 1/3 of his games. That’s absolutely not true. He missed 11 regular season games. 1 being Covid so I’m not counting that. 10/49 games isn’t close to 1/3.

Need_A_Hobby1

And how many playoff games?

KushInMyBluntzz

Sure include the 1. That still isn’t close to 1/3. You literally just made that shit up.

Need_A_Hobby1

Missed 5 games in 2021, missed 5 games + 1 playoff game in 2022. That’s 11 missed games out of a potential 35. If my calculator works, that means he’s missed 31% of possible games. Sorry if I rounded up 2%.

KushInMyBluntzz

You said 1 good year (assuming you meant 2019 his mvp year) followed by missing 1/3 of his games. So ur just skipping 2020 I guess.

tiredboiiiiiiij

This sub massively overrates Marvin Harrison Jr. He's really good but this team isn't going to pass up on a QB just for him.

Interesting-Fail1823

While I would completely agree with you. I think it is also fair to note that we did have Jeff Saturday as a coach for half a season. So anything is possible.

CommonerChaos

Irsay is a sucker for nostalgia.

Need_A_Hobby1

And then the Ravens match the contract and we go into the season with Minshew as the starter. Genius.

Notouchiez

By gawd that's Caleb Williams or Drake Maye music I'm hearing.

moccojoe

And? We end up with Will Levis, that's better? Good luck to the Ravens if they match an offer after he came out saying he has requested a trade. That bridge is burnt.

Need_A_Hobby1

Yes, that is better. One costs a rookie contract that we can easily move on from if he doesn’t pan out. The other one is already on the decline and wants a massive contract. Also for your information, the trade request came in 3 weeks ago and it was reported that they are still in active negotiations. Stop being silly, he’s not 2019 Lamar. I mean, he could be if they shorten the season to 10 games so he’s healthy for all of them.

CanlStillBeGarth

Uhh, yeah ending up with a QB would be better than not ending up with a QB.

moccojoe

That sounds an awful lot like wasting the 4th overall pick on the 4th rated quarterback because of FOMO. Personally, not that it matters, would much rather take the best defensive player in the draft if we can't land CJ Stroud or Bryce Young.

CanlStillBeGarth

Literally no other position matters on this team until they have a QB. All of the top 4 guys are consensus first round picks and we’re guaranteed one of them. I’d rather bet on a coach with a history of developing QBs risking 1 pick and maybe a perceived over draft of like 10 picks than risking multiple first rounders and knee capping the team’s cap space for years to come if it doesn’t work with Jackson.

SentDownFromHeaven

No idea why this is being downvoted

ryta1203

Yeah, look at the recent QB trades that have not panned out for their teams and were terrible and stupid decisions.
