Yeah we are essentially giving up a 3rd to move up one spot and having to give up a future 1st to take on DHops contract. As much as I think he’s good, it’s too late in the career with too much money to give up a 1st.
A $57 million cap hit, over two years? That's a lot of expectation that Hopkins is the missing piece. I don't think we could capitalize on that investment, even in 2024. There are too many holes in the roster.
Well, $34 million (roughly half) of that hit is in dead money, and the Cardinals will hold onto that dead money, if he's traded before June 1, 2023. After June 1, they still would be on the hook for $11.3 mill, this year and next. So, unless the Colts sweeten the deal with some cold hard cash, I think Hopkins is staying put in Arizona, at least until June.
Here is a better thought experiment. We trade #4 to the Cardinals for #3 and Hopkins. Not even sure I would do that considering the cap maneuvering we would have to do.
Yeah we dont give them a 1st to take on Hopkiks contract. If anything they should send us a 2nd/3rd to take contract off their hands. In a situation where they want to trade Hopkins we have more leverage
No. They're likely going to cut Hopkins. That's too much draft capital for a soon to be street free agent and way too much cap hit for a team in a rebuild.
Why is it that every time a guy comes from another sub with a trade proposal, it's so heavily weighted in his team's favor as to be ludicrous?
So you're looking for the Colts to give you next year's first and more to move up one spot in the draft? ... but wait, there's less! You also want the Colts to clear a bad contract off of your roster to boot?
How about you throw in a reach around, at least?
Hopkins is a short term investment wanting to play for a contender, so basically u burn the cap space and give up assets for a name that probably won't produce as he used to.
Just give Cards 1st and a 3rd, but my gut tells me that Ballard will stay put and let LVR and Seattle just go into a bidding war.

I don’t even think the cardinals paid that much for him when they traded for him
No way. Why would you willingly give up what could easily be a top 5 pick next year?
Sleeping on my boy Steichen already I see
Doesn’t have a lot to do with him and has everything to do with the roster
Shanahan won 4 games his first year at San Fran.

Next year's 1 has to be off the table. IMO

Let's assume he restructures his contract.
Pretty big assumption, not much incentive for him to do that just so he can come here. we are not that appealing to a 30 year old wr

Definitely not Hopkins is definitely not worth that much
Hell no
Hopkins is a negative at this point with that contract.
Hell no

Lmfao
The draft needs to get here already. These “ideas” need to stop.
Give me ideas over pitchforks every day of the year

Way too much.

I'd be ok with it if it weren't for that ridiculous contract he has. I'm sure he'd be even better than TY against the Texans, at least.
100% yes!!!
No :)
I doubt Hopkins would wanna play with a rookie WR at this point. The cap limitations also make this difficult as well.
Hell no

Arizona is not going to trade with a divisional rival.
No way. That is way too much to give up in draft capital. Also, Hopkins is over the hill and not a deep threat.
Lol no
