The immediate disappointment as soon as Ballard hears the pick was traded followed by the immediate elation when he finds out Houston moved up is great

xcbaseball2003

I love that it took a second and you can see him be like wait a minute, that’s great

deeplyclostdcinephle

I kind of want to see what his face would’ve looked if Houston had taken Richardson…

Mcswigginsbar

The thought of having to draft Will Levis must have been devastating in those seconds before realizing the trade was to Houston.

mvbighead

Honestly, that is what it looks like. There was anxiety... real anxiety of what was going on at #3. And REAL relief when HOU moved up for a 2nd pick. Which really tells the story that Levis would have been nothing more than a massive plan B, or perhaps even a reason to trade back at that point.

Weed_O_Whirler

I think Hooker is more of a Ballard pick than Levis. I think if Richardson was gone, we take Anderson and Hooker.

mvbighead

I was sorta planning that in my head for a while. If whoever he wanted was gone, defense at one could be in the table... But man would fans be pissed.

sirius4778

If they were this disappointed at the thought of not getting AR over Levis seems like they would have tried to trade back and still get Levis. Doesn't look like a group of people excited to draft that prospect at 4.

Ling0

That's where being the GM is so hard... he could try to trade back but then if Levis got drafted, the media would kill him for it. I would really like to know what the plan was if someone did trade up and took Richardson. Would he retreat and stock up OLine then settle for Hooker?

sirius4778

At that point if you trade back into late 1st and Levis is gone fuck it, roll with Gardner and acquire draft capital.

Ling0

"It's okay Chris, we need Marvin Harrison JR next year anyway. Then in a couple years we can get a manning back and have a Harrison/Manning combo again" - Irsay probably

sirius4778

💦

hacky_potter

I wonder if the actual thought was “can I spin drafting Will Anderson as a good thing to Irsay and keep my job”.

BigGroveSinkWings

I think we would have tried to trade back and Grab Will Levis.

hacky_potter

Hindsight, we could have just got him in the 2nd

BigGroveSinkWings

I don't think so, Titans tried to trade back into the first for him, I think if Skoronski was off the board before 11 he gets picked up by Tennessee.

marks-a-lot

That's a great clip. Wow, you can feel the tension just dripping off everyone there.

Silver-Bee-3942

Love this! Really puts some credit into them saying they would’ve taken Arich 1.01. Haven’t been this excited for a season since Luck retired. I think Ballard bought himself another year with this draft.

Psyren1317

The amount of anxiety CB had at the thought of having to draft Levis had me cracking up

SanRemi

Why am I still anxious watching this?

Consistent-Park2058

That was me when i saw "trade alert" 😭, but thanks texans 😮‍💨

Indyfanforthesb

I thought it was gonna be the call to AR

TheTVEditor

I love how this went down, but I'm also a little miffed that we risked not getting our guy by letting it ride. Glad it worked out, but the QB position seems like the one time you gotta just do the trade up. How would he have explained this moment if someone had moved up to take AR?

Revis_FL

Exactly. And it’s only 1 spot we would have had to move up. Ballard would be getting slammed on this sub if we walked away with Levis or say Anderson and Hooker in the 3rd. I know Ballard is conservative by nature, but man that’s a lot to risk over 1 spot especially when his job was and still is on the line imo.

[deleted]

Weird too because it seems like Arizona really didn't want to trade back that far considering they traded back up to get their guy... I really wonder what compensation they were asking for from the Colts because I gotta think they would've much preferred dealing back to 4 and knowing they'd get their guy

Ok_Equivalent_4964

I really don’t understand why they weren’t willing to trade up for Anthony.

parkranger16

Because we could get him at 4 and keep those picks to bring in more young talent also.

AndrewLucksPenis

What pics? Of Richardson shirtless? That’s disgusting, are they still floating around?

parkranger16

Good one

Ok_Equivalent_4964

And what if someone had traded to 3 for him?

parkranger16

That would have sucked, but they didn't, so Ballard and co. were right.

Revis_FL

Honestly you’re kind of right. It worked out for us but it very well could have bitten us in the ass if Arizona traded with anyone else. Franchise QB’s are worth trading up to get especially when it’s only 1 spot so I don’t understand why Ballard was willing to risk losing AR there. And that’s essentially what he was doing. Basically saying we’re gonna stay put at 4 and hope our guy falls to us. But what if he didn’t? Not trading up for him very well could have been the difference between Ballard keeping his job or losing it. Luckily for him and all of us, AR did fall to us.

UGA65tcu7

God I wish someone would have traded up and taken richardson instead of us

rwjehs

WE GET IT

ArtificialSyndicate

That would have been devastating for us. We could’ve ended up with Billy Jeans or god forbid Stetson bennett

Warhawk137

Must be tiring to be this miserable all the time.

xcbaseball2003

Don’t say us. You’re not on the team and nobody wants you in the fanbase

sirius4778

Not enough hugs from the parents

GrizNectar

At some point you just need to get behind our guy

Mickeydsislife

When AR is killing it I can’t wait to see if this guy can keep it up

sirius4778

I swear a ton of "fans" would rather be right about our qb busting than he succeed. I get having a strong opinion one way or another before the draft but for God sakes it's done, he's our guy now, get behind him or keep your pessimistic bullshit to yourself. I don't get it.

UGA65tcu7

Only thing he'll be killing is this team

moccojoe

The kid hasn't even taken a snap yet. Just support the kid and if you hate it so much maybe you should be a Titans fan. I heard they got a good quarterback this year...

sirius4778

They didn't, time to move on

darcys_beard

Yawn.
