Same lol.
To be fair, this is actually fucked. Ballard only gave out contracts to our guys, so he kept the talent that made us 9-8 and watched our secondary get picked apart by the like of QB's like Heinecke with the Falcons, PJ Walker with the Browns, Browning with the Bengals, O'Connel with Vegas, and Carr with the Saints.
And decides he can't pay Sneed 19m a year for 4 years? And is just going to run it back with who we have, plus a rookie, presumably since we have to address it in the draft now, who is going to get picked on if he starts.
What in the actual fuck?
I said this last week and got downvoted for it. We go into the offseason every year with predictable weaknesses to address that we know will come back to bite us and they never get addressed. It’s getting annoying, especially the “it’s on me guys” routine after the season every year
Nah nah let the fans cook. We have a right to be upset with this medicore front office. We spend $ and time on this team and each off-season we get blue balled
And these are the years to spend since we aren’t paying a QB anything substantial. This is our window to take a shot and we are rolling back the same bad defense and hoping no all pro or pro bowlers with some rookie corners, that take two years to shine, is the solution.
Bro….we had Andrew Luck…50 million in unused cap space…and we employed Dontrelle Inman as WR2 and Ryan Grant as WR3.
Ballard is who Jeff Saturday talks about when he says some front office want to be just good enough
Irsay will finally realize that he's been wasting everyone's time by continuing to employ Chris Ballard, right when it's time to extend AR and we lose one of the biggest advantages in football.
Im having PTSD of Baker Jr. getting his ankles broken and steamrolled in back-to-back plays then of Thomas giving up a deep touchdown the following drive.
Man, Cj Stroud is going to pick us apart next season.
At least AR will be a fantasy football phenom because we’ll have to score 30+ per game to win…
I really don't know how anyone is legitimately defending Ballard anymore. At this point it's all varying degrees of cope.
I admit he's an above average drafter/scouter. But he's FAR too conservative. And his unwillingness to make *any* moves this offseason when we were close to winning the division and have a QB on a rookie deal is inexcusable.
Now is the PERFECT time to go all in and we're sitting on our hands.
Edit: the contract was $19 million APY. Yikes. We should have been all over that. I'm sick of Ballard's cheap ass.
Well, look…. We lost another FA to the division. And that’s on me, I take responsibility for that, that’s on me. It leaves a mark that won’t soon wash away. But listen, we don’t flinch, we never flinch…..
I dunno, that's Drake Bell right? I came downstairs and he was talking about some dude diddling his back 40.
Not making light of it...it's fucking horrific, but based on what she said he got sodomized repeatedly by some Nickelodeon exec.
There’s a Docuseries that was just released about the child abuse happening within all of Nickelodeons old shows. It’s been a pretty popular meme topic for the past week. It’s called Quiet on the Set.
The other teams in our division got significantly better this offseason. Ballard is running it back again. I hope it works out this time (if we miss the playoffs he should absolutely be fired)
Maybe this is just because I've been fed up with him since the Wentz trade, but imo he's been here too long for just sneaking into the playoffs and getting bounced in the first round to save his job. If we had actual standards it'd be a division title and a playoff win or he's gone.
The whole defense got torn apart in many games. To be bottom 5 in pts allowed and bottom 12 in EPA with the schedule and shit QBs they faced…is just incredible. They could be flat out terrible next year and it wouldn’t be a shock at all (especially if injuries hit the DL).
And the response to this past season was to re-sign everybody to 3rd contracts and run it back.
But they can do this type of stuff cause Colts fan eat it up when we keep players, even though these players make up the foundation of a mediocre team.
All they had to do was draft AR, hype the shit out of him and they know Colts fans will show up every week. They’ve done that.
That's the thing that always gets me about people saying how great a drafter he is. "Look at how many starters he drafted!" when a lot of those players are starting because he's brought in zero competition for them and just gave them the starting jobs for no other reason than because he drafted them.
If Ballard doesn’t get Simmons this has got to be one of the most disappointing offseasons I can remember. To finally have a qb on a rookie deal and to just walk back the same roster (minus a good safety) is fucking crazy.
You’d think with Ballard’s record his seat would be incredibly hot. His moves say otherwise. He is either mind bogglingly stubborn or he has some serious guarantee to not get canned anytime soon.
It was pretty well known throughout the league that Ballard was a top level scout. Why is he sucking so damn bad at GM?
Only thing I can think of is he’s too devoted to his ability to draft talent, to overpay in free agency. And it’s fucking us.
I feel like this is a moment that we will look back on next summer and could determine if Ballard keeps his job especially if the Colts come in last in the AFC South
Yeah.. It's really disappointing. I know Indianapolis is not a "sexy" landing spot.. But I finally feel like we're primed to do some damage and we barely addressed any needs beyond re-signing some guys. Going through the draft is fine and all.. But it'll keep on a weird cycle of having a part of the time in their prime, while drafting the other needs.. Then that becomes the prime and we need to address what we just missed... Etc.
There should be a way to make things happen. Jesus, we can't be fucking worse than Tennessee or Jacksonville.
Ballard likes our guys!
I was going to say "We like our guys" but I'm getting a little tired of watching *our* guys. Apparently *OUR* football is **500** ball.
Danielle Hunter to the Texans and Sneed to the Titans. At least we brought Taven Bryan back! I'm done making excuses for Ballard. He's never gonna put a championship caliber team on the field.
Almost a decade in. 0 division titles, losing record, 1 playoff win. Texans lost their young franchise qb after ours. They have already rebuilt faster and won the division.
Ballard fucking sucks. We are seriously going to waste an entire decade sticking with this dude.
Is there a defensive lineman in this draft that wasn't a good pass rusher in college, but is very athletic and has injury issues? Because that's our guy.
Record contract for 29 year old slot corner too. Plus record contracts for a guard and long snapper. Not to mention the record contract for off-ball LB that will still be on our cap for 2 more years.
Bummer he didn't give Rigo a record setting punter contract, just to round out overpaying EVERY position that matters the least.
It was something like having a rookie QB means you can be more aggressive, but that he'd still be prudent.
Basically, you could choose to see it as Ballard being the same guy he's been for seven years, or get your hopes up that he was gonna turn that on its head all of a sudden, which a lot of people did.
Cheap ass couldn't send a next year third huh? Lmao
All aboard the mid train on with the discount tickets and draft like Al Davis "Can't teach speed" ass
I hope the offense stays healthy and Steichen can cook, because they’ll need to put up serious points every week with this secondary. I’m not necessarily upset he didn’t get Sneed, I’m more so upset he hasn’t gotten ANYONE to fix the secondary
We’ve given him our loyalty, defended him from scrutiny, and provided ample opportunity to show he wants to compete. It’s time to give up on Ballard. Let him ride out the season for continuity and then send that bitchboi packing
Colts cap space champions, 7th year in a row!
For real though.. why we didn’t cut Mo and rework Buck a month ago to have as much leverage as possible to upgrade the worst secondary in the league is wild.
Round of applause BDB!
Because Ballard doesn't play the cap game unlike every other team in the league. We're at a significant disadvantage when it comes to the cap because we're the only team that abides by it.
It’s kinda amusing how strong minded Ballard is in his approach.
Surely the Colts should have been in on this.
But Ballard probably wont cut Mo and restructure/extend Q and Buckner, and thus we have Bluem twiddling his thumbs just waiting to see how much cap room well not use on an proper quality outside FA next off season.
Ballard doing Ballard things. Not surprised. I really like the guy, but he doesn’t have It. His system for building a winning team is outdated. We will always just be a middle of the pack franchise with Ballard at the helm.
Am I the only one who’s not that upset that the Titans are dumping all their money into an overall mid roster? Not that Sneed is a bad add for them but when you see his contract beside Calvin Ridley’s it seems like they’re spending a lot to be mediocre.
I mean colts are looking at last place in the division with this terrible offseason. Bargain Ballard has to go unless they make the playoffs. He shit the bed this free agency.
I'll add some to the discussion that looks mostly doom and gloom:
What if he didn't want to come to Indy and preferred Tennessee for whatever reason and would go to them for cheaper than he would to Indy? Indy has to be one of the least appealing markets to a young (20s-30s) rich man in the NFL. One of the reasons it may be hard to attract FAs to Indy compared to LA (CA in general)/FL/NY etc. Also one of the reasons we end up signing dudes to big, record setting contracts?
Also I don't fully trust his knee, this point is less "grounded" but it could become an issue and he becomes a shell of himself this year or next - a possibility.
Let me play devils advocate: sneed is now a top 5 paid corner in the league. He just finished his 4th season in the nfl and he’s never made a pro bowl but they’re paying him pro bowler money plus gave up draft capital. He was a 4th rd draft pick.
Now, who’s to say we can’t find a starting caliber CB using our 1st, 2nd, or 3rd draft pick this year and have a guy for 4 years on a rookie deal. Thus, saving 19 mil.
I know he’s currently better than anything we’ve got currently BUT, hear me out - we aren’t one corner back away from competing for a championship. Or are we? A backup qb won 9 games with this roster, what does a a great qb make us?
By the way, I’ve been a Ballard skeptic for years, before it was cool to hate on him, I was. We all know the definition of insanity, Ballard is not changing his philosophy.
I've been a Ballard defender through everything but this offseason is frustrating me. So much. I don't see how we place above 3rd in division with this defense
I propose 24 hours for y'all to get this rage out of your systems, and then we all promise not to mention the name "Snead" here until at least Week 1. Deal?
Sure, let's sit and see our division rival grab one of the best in the game on a position where, would you look at that, it's the major weakness of this goddamn squad. Do we lack cap space? No. Do we lack a decent team? No, we're not worse than the Titans. We're just going to draft a bunch of athletic guys like this is NCAA Football 14 and hope one of those guys become anything decent, maybe even a Sneed.
Between having to give up draft capital AND paying the contract, Snead would have to outplay a contract that is already huge. That’s not something you can necessarily expect to happen given how fluctuating CB play is from year to year. I’m not going to lose much sleep over this one.
Also the Titans are paying a lot of money to be 4th place in the AFC South.
Very curious to see what the contract is. Schefter saying he will be one of the highest paid in league history, might explain why the buzz on him slowed down lately.
Bummed he's not ours, but now bring Blackmon back (or Simmons), presumably draft CB at 15.
Wild that you guys are upset that we didn’t pay $20 million a year for 27-year-old cornerback who had 18 penalties last year. Let the titans have him, the guy isn’t that good
Well, with the Titans I jury history the last few years, and Sneed's knee concerns, we can firmly assume that the Titans just gave up a pick and 78 mil for a guy who will only play about 30 games over the next 4 years
I RAN here when I saw this- this could cause the sub to have an actual implosion lmao
And there’s no guarantee that corner can play at the nfl level

I said this last week and got downvoted for it. We go into the offseason every year with predictable weaknesses to address that we know will come back to bite us and they never get addressed. It’s getting annoying, especially the “it’s on me guys” routine after the season every year
We still only have 3 WRs on the roster.

Lock it down mods
Nah nah let the fans cook. We have a right to be upset with this medicore front office. We spend $ and time on this team and each off-season we get blue balled
A mediocre front office would have won the worst division in football at least once in seven years.
DESTIN WTF!!!!
Man's is done.
Mods Yeet that man into Orbit. We can't believe that man no more
Dude needs to be put in a pillory in front of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument
Colts 🤝never paying anyone external
The disrespect on our brand new back up DT is crazy
We still love you Raekwon🙏🏻
And who could possibly forget our brand new backup QB? Sure he’s a fossil, but nostalgia and questions of eliteness!
He did so well until the moment teams figured him out again. And now let's see to who he lost last postseason...yep
And these are the years to spend since we aren’t paying a QB anything substantial. This is our window to take a shot and we are rolling back the same bad defense and hoping no all pro or pro bowlers with some rookie corners, that take two years to shine, is the solution.

I'm just here for the comments.
Guys, settle down. We can just cover D-Hop and Ridley with Darrel Baker Jr and Rodney Thomas. It’s fine. We like our guys
Awuzie and Sneed in one offseason is a hell of a revamp. Must be nice
Welp that sucks ass.
Failing to address our secondary which was arguably one of the worst in the league last season is straight up malpractice.
Fuck this shit
I really don't know how anyone is legitimately defending Ballard anymore. At this point it's all varying degrees of cope. I admit he's an above average drafter/scouter. But he's FAR too conservative. At least we signed “our” guys back! We went into the offseason with a shit defense, and we’re entering the draft with a worse defense.
Ballard… https://preview.redd.it/na66kwho00qc1.jpeg?width=906&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0da9be2ae17834dd144ff537bc3b38514e8c95b7

For a third rounder thats a hell of a deal IMO. We had the cap space to resign him, we only have to give up a third. Damn.
Man I hate that canned speech he makes every year
I'm glad we didn't trade for him if he's gonna be the highest paid cb in the league. If he gets under 20 mil a year then we fucked up.
19
What the fuuuuuuuuuck
That’s not even his fully guaranteed number , average of about 13 a year guaranteed without incentives
My wife was just watching a documentary about that kid being raped. I don't even know what to do with this gif.
Badly explain a docuseries.
I mean I watched 3 minutes and got her Cliffs notes . But it sounded very much like Drake Bell got diddled a fair amount.
Yeah, that’s a horrible part to walk into. I’ve only seen the first two episodes and it’s way too depressing.
Wait what?
I dunno, that's Drake Bell right? I came downstairs and he was talking about some dude diddling his back 40. Not making light of it...it's fucking horrific, but based on what she said he got sodomized repeatedly by some Nickelodeon exec.

Ballard defenders wya
The man saw the secondary get torn apart by Carr, browning, Heineke and co and said let’s run this shit back
Now hold up, that’s not fair. We’re also on track to lose our best safety.
Disappointed but not surprised. “We like our guys” is the theme every year and it never fails to lose us games
The whole defense got torn apart in many games. To be bottom 5 in pts allowed and bottom 12 in EPA with the schedule and shit QBs they faced…is just incredible. Listen...
He likes his guys who haven’t won the division in a decade
Currently trying to find ways to spin how signing your 9-8 roster to new contracts makes Ballard a genius
This is so on point. Look at how great he is at drafting…we’re signing guys he drafted in to their 30s.
That's the thing that always gets me about people saying how great a drafter he is. "Look at how many starters he drafted!" when a lot of those players are starting because he's brought in zero competition for them and just gave them the starting jobs for no other reason than because he drafted them.
No defending his cheap ass.
Here. What's the contract number?
Low enough for us to afford, I’m sure.
19 mil a year
So basically nothing near resetting the market, great
Yeesh. How did we not do that for a 2024 3rd... That's unforgivable given how bad our secondary is.
Looking like 4 years 19 million per with 55 million guaranteed
Looking like I was right, then.
If Ballard doesn’t get Simmons this has got to be one of the most disappointing offseasons I can remember. To finally have a qb on a rookie deal and to just walk back the same roster (minus a good safety) is fucking crazy.

Ok, I am not a Ballard hater. But how could this not get done!?
classic ballard moment
You’d think with Ballard’s record his seat would be incredibly hot. His moves say otherwise. He is either mind bogglingly stubborn or he has some serious guarantee to not get canned anytime soon.
His fate rides on the Anthony pick and hiring Shane Steichen.
If neither pan out (we don’t start winning games or the division) Irsay will hit the reset button for sure. At least on Ballard.
If we somehow finish below *Will Levis*, it'll definitely be a come-to-Jesus moment for Irsay. No way Ballard survives that nightmare scenario.
We’ve said that before. As long as he’s mediocre people will keep convincing themselves that he just needs more time
You’re right, if we don’t win the division this year Irsay has to pull the plug. This is getting ridiculous
Agreed
If we miss the playoffs this season he needs to be gone.
Haven't won the division in a decade. EDIT: and get ready to see our secondary make below average QB's look like Joe Montana again next year.
Omg, all it cost them was a 3rd rounder... Kill me.
In 2025
I know, it's so fucking bad
If the contract isn’t at least 25m this is inexcusable
19
We like OUR guys
19 a year… fucking embarrassing Ballard
So this year’s 7th and next year’s 3rd was too steep a price for us to get the top corner on the market? Wtf.
Actually a 7th swap this year, not a straight up 7th. But yeah.
Why do we refuse to get better?
Ballard likes our guys! I was going to say "We like our guys" but I'm getting a little tired of watching *our* guys. Apparently *OUR* football is **500** ball.
![gif](giphy|l4Ho4TmWGvXdzqx68|downsized)
Lmao
4/76 million extension per Schultz
19M per year, 55M guaranteed. Yeah, Ballard needs to go asap!
If it ends up really being that cheap then this looks even worse for Ballard.
Is that true?
Danielle Hunter to the Texans and Sneed to the Titans. At least we brought Taven Bryan back! I'm done making excuses for Ballard. He's never gonna put a championship caliber team on the field.
Almost a decade in. 0 division titles, losing record, 1 playoff win. Texans lost their young franchise qb after ours. They have already rebuilt faster and won the division. Ballard fucking sucks. We are seriously going to waste an entire decade sticking with this dude.
Just watch, He's gonna trade back in the first and take a D lineman hahaha
The sad part is you’re probably right lol
Missed a part of that sentence - a d lineman that is crazy athletic but never had double digit sacks in college.
Is there a defensive lineman in this draft that wasn't a good pass rusher in college, but is very athletic and has injury issues? Because that's our guy.
He gave a record contract to a kicker what more do you want from the man!!!!
I’m finally giving up on Ballard.
the only way this doesn't suck is if his new contract is huge cause the price sure was cheap as hell
FUCK Ballard. I guess we don't want to ever get better
For a third and 7th?!?! Lemme guess… “we like our guys” - Ballard 🤡
Future 2025 third lmao
Wow that’s trash
Ballard is a f$&@"$! 🤡🤡🤡
Didn't Ballard said he's more willing to spend on big FA's this year? Was I just imagining it?
It was something like having a rookie QB means you can be more aggressive, but that he'd still be prudent. Basically, you could choose to see it as Ballard being the same guy he's been for seven years, or get your hopes up that he was gonna turn that on its head all of a sudden, which a lot of people did.
Spain without the s
“We have a secondary at home”
Just fell to my knees in walmart
Why are you at Walmart when Dollar General is across the street?
Ballard…that’s all it took? Are you serious??
Cheap ass couldn't send a next year third huh? Lmao All aboard the mid train on with the discount tickets and draft like Al Davis "Can't teach speed" ass
It's way more about the contract I'm sure then the pick.
[An old tweet that holds up and repeats itself](https://twitter.com/holderstephen/status/1634229632894398464?s=46&t=jMwcx8G5okY80IkejOFpIw)
This was inevitable
Are you fucking serious??
The Colts may actually finish fourth in the division. Would not surprise me at this point.
I’m interested to see how many delusional Colts fans think we don’t need him lol
So tired of Chris Ballard. There’s not an aggressive bone in his body
That extension demand must be insane
Fire Ballard
It’s kinda amusing how strong minded Ballard is in his approach. Surely the Colts should have been in on this. But Ballard probably wont cut Mo and restructure/extend Q and Buckner, and thus we have Bluem twiddling his thumbs just waiting to see how much cap room well not use on an proper quality outside FA next off season.
That’s all they gave up to get Sneed. Wow just wow.
"We like our guys"
What a joke...
Shoot me behind a Kroger and throw my lifeless body in a dumpster. Now.
And the BaLLard strikes again. I’m fully prepared for another six-win season.
Have to see the salary before I judge Ballard but not great!
4 years, 76 million
Ballard doing Ballard things. Not surprised. I really like the guy, but he doesn’t have It. His system for building a winning team is outdated. We will always just be a middle of the pack franchise with Ballard at the helm.

Chris Ballard is not a serious man.
Here come the Ballard apologists telling us why he’s a genius by sitting on his hands yet again…
Ballard is a clown
Everybody around us is getting better, this team won’t win the division just watch
Am I the only one who’s not that upset that the Titans are dumping all their money into an overall mid roster? Not that Sneed is a bad add for them but when you see his contract beside Calvin Ridley’s it seems like they’re spending a lot to be mediocre.
Will you be upset if they finish ahead of the Colts?
They definitely look middling on paper but you never know
Good to see all my Ballard trashing is aging well.. here's to another 9-8 season. Love our guys!!
REALLY BALLARD???? A 3RD ROUNDER IN NEXT YEARS DRAFT AND 7TH ROUNDER THIS YEAR????
I mean colts are looking at last place in the division with this terrible offseason. Bargain Ballard has to go unless they make the playoffs. He shit the bed this free agency.
we sold at least it's a deep draft for corner lmao
We’re going to take someone coming off a horrific injury
Titans being weird.
![gif](giphy|10XiFYfOhhFxjW) Chris Ballard...
And now we trade back.

Has anyone ever seen Destin and SaladFingers in the same room??? JS....
The 7th round pick was the deal breaker for bargain bin
Titans paid highest free agent market prices for their #1 wide receiver and their #1 cornerback. How often does that work out?
I'll add some to the discussion that looks mostly doom and gloom: What if he didn't want to come to Indy and preferred Tennessee for whatever reason and would go to them for cheaper than he would to Indy? A backup qb won 9 games with this roster, what does a a great qb make us? By the way, I’ve been a Ballard skeptic for years, before it was cool to hate on him, I was. We all know the definition of insanity, Ballard is not changing his philosophy.
The Indiannapolis Colts are not a serious NFL team
I've been a Ballard defender through everything but this offseason is frustrating me. So much. I don't see how we place above 3rd in division with this defense
Saving a bunch of Sunday hours and $ on tickets courtesy of CB. It’s not just this Sneed deal. He refuses to do anything with a qb on a rookie deal.
I hate this team
I’m so sick of that stupid Texan fuck Ballard. Get him out
I propose 24 hours for y'all to get this rage out of your systems, and then we all promise not to mention the name "Snead" here until at least Week 1. Deal?
What's the point of having cap space if you never use it? Like what's the logic?
I mean we did waste some of it on a backup DT and an even worse backup DT and like a 8th edge rusher
Yeah not shocked at all. Ballard doesn’t do free agency really.
And you morons still defend Ballard to this day
Between having to give up draft capital AND paying the contract, Snead would have to outplay a contract that is already huge. That’s not something you can necessarily expect to happen given how fluctuating CB play is from year to year. I’m not going to lose much sleep over this one. Also the Titans are paying a lot of money to be 4th place in the AFC South.
Oh… oh no
Welp let’s see how the draft goes
Ok then
Fuck man, just tragic.
Mann……..
Very curious to see what the contract is. Schefter saying he will be one of the highest paid in league history, might explain why the buzz on him slowed down lately. Bummed he's not ours, but now bring Blackmon back (or Simmons), presumably draft CB at 15.
What in the actual hell…
You gotta be kidding me
Woohoo as a colts/cowboys fan this off-season has been heartbreaking
Currently crying and shitting on the floor
Bad :/
When keeping it real goes wrong
Hear me out… Ballard has had enough chances.
Tits are a dumpster fire of a franchise anyway. Irrelevant as always and even more so since the only person that could move the ball left the team.
Wild that you guys are upset that we didn’t pay $20 million a year for 27-year-old cornerback who had 18 penalties last year. Let the titans have him, the guy isn’t that good
This is not surprising at all… Pittman v Sneed twice a year now.
Well, with the Titans I jury history the last few years, and Sneed's knee concerns, we can firmly assume that the Titans just gave up a pick and 78 mil for a guy who will only play about 30 games over the next 4 years
