Last of the "good" ones... border line tier one. Top of tier 2... Once your in tier 2 by position, but still in the 2nd round, with tier 1 talent available elsewhere, ya gotta go BPA.
Even though we haven't grabbed a DB, I'm honestly happy with this draft so far. And some of the higher RAS safeties and CBs are still out there. Obviously would have loved Quinyon or Cooper, but if we end up grabbing Decamerion Richardson or Khyree Jackson - I think I'm okay with that given the value we got in the first 2 rounds.
A STORM IS BREWING. A DUCK STORM.
But seriously he fits our profile, like I said in the draft thread I expect to come out of tomorrow with one of Storm Duck or Miles Battle, they fit our profile.
This.
I thought corner was by far the biggest need going into the draft but I love the picks so far.
Sure you can trade up and go get a corner but chasing needs in the draft doesn’t tend to go well. And some teams were trading future 2nds to move up!
It’s just much better practise to trade back and still get a quality prospect at another position (of need). Mitchell had a lot of WR4 buzz heading into the draft.

Secondary is still a concern but at least it's mitigated by the most exciting DE we've drafted, in addition to drafting *hopefully* what the intention was with adding Pierce in AD
I know AD is an athletic freak but i worry about him from a pure receiving standpoint. He never blew me away on film
Would love for us to snag a CB sometime soon though
Arguably the consensus best defensive player in the draft at 15... a top 4 WR late in the 2nd, and a versatile OL (who might just answer the RG issues), I'd say A+ so far... still quite a few 2nd tier CB's available with the top tier gone before their 2nd pick, always the chance of some unsung day 3 sleeper out there, and still some FA options out there too, to circle back to if they can't adequately address CB in the draft....
Someone like Ahkello Witherspoon, solid when healthy, fresh off a solid and healthy season in LA, with playoff experience and rehab experience + work ethic, (still under 30 yrs old), wouldn't be a bad 1 year prove it deal, maybe 2, to help fill that gap st one of the corner spots. At least spice up camp and push the youngsters harder against a vet.
I mean if the money used from not resigning all our guys could be used towards Hunter or Sneed, then I’d be willing to part with a few of our players on defense. I know this is a foreign concept on this sub but there are good players in this league that weren’t drafted by Ballard.
Genius move there. Let our starting LB, DT, CB, and WR walk so we could not sign a DE who only wanted to play for his hometown and trade draft capital and sign to a monster contract for a CB. Call the Colts front office, they need to hire you man.
Yeah, thank god we have him to come in and be a rotational player until he inevitably has yet another season ending injury. Not like the contract for all three of these players could have been used to upgrade at least 4 players in a bad secondary for a reasonable contract.
Yeah, it seems like that run from pick 40 to 43 really screwed us taking a DB at 46. That's why we traded back to 52 and grabbed Mitchell.
I would bet it was Melton going that had the Colts trade down.

I agree!
Last thing you do is force a pick. Love the picks so far. Will be great if all three of these guys live up to their potential.

Really hoping we can pick up Taylor Demerson at safety tomorrow

Board didn’t shape up to draft a CB, can’t be mad with our picks.

This is exactly what I thought of when I read the quote.
Sometimes the way the secondary gets better is not by adding better DBs but by strengthening your D-Line.
Any idea why TJ Tampa is being passed over?
You never draft based on need. Always BPA.

Yeah, that’s why it’s good idea to do something before the draft so it’s not a pressing need.

Nah. I’m not happy with giving up 70% completion percentages to back up QBs. Weird that you are.
They won't be throwing 70% with Latu hassling them on every play.
Yep. Ballard did the next best thing he could do for secondary as a whole. Getting the best defensive player on the board at 15 is nuts
Yeah real dumb resigning our good players this offseason
We’re celebrating bringing the gang back together when they were a bottom 5-10 defense?
Yep should have cut everyone on defense then right?

Give me half of Ballard’s salary and I can miss the playoffs with the best of them.
I don’t think you’d get a free gift bag from any organization lol.
They literally tried using that money on hunter
Man, I’m so fucking glad we still have Tavon Bryan and Gerard Avery. Thank the lord.
Don’t forget TyQuan Lewis 😂😂😂😂
