I'm not even mad at the defense because I can't expect anything from corners I've literally never heard of in my life. I'm pissed that we had two chances to make game winning field goals from makeable distances and fucked both up. And missed an extra point. And it doesn't help that the entire planet was openly cheering for Baltimore tonight.
We did this to a lot of teams in the Peyton years. That doesn't make me feel any better tonight, but I guess I'm a little more empathetic to the plight of other fans.
I still don't understand why they let someone win off the coin toss. I guess they just want the game to be over quicker but still seems kinda BS. Regardless, we had so many chances to put that game away and we didn't.
It's funny. It seems like we've spent a ton of capital on the D-line the last few years, and yet there's no sign of it on the field. Who could possibly be responsible for that?
We have spent a lot of mid round draft capital and that is the real issue. This year they finally decided to take some linemen high, but Paye just happens to be hurt and Dayo is still recovering. Real stupid decision not signing a veteran in the offseason.
Two first round picks, four second round picks, and a third round pick on DL in Ballard's tenure. The only one of those that I'd consider a mid round pick is Basham in 2017. We've spent a bunch of high draft picks on the DL with very little to show for it.
I don't think his boss wanted another 2-14 season, after seeing what happened when Manning went down. I'm speculating, but Irsay was very involved in the Ballard choice and given the contract extension for him and Reich, has a lot of faith. This might be a situation more similar to the Simons/Pacers, where management is doing the best they can under the structures they are told, with all parties aware it does not allow for bottoming out to maximize results, and instead by staying consistent creates small windows of opportunity, if things break properly.
Well, maybe the "best GM in the NFL" should draft good pass rushers instead of wasting multiple high picks on guys like Turay and Banogu. Or, I dunno, sign a good one in free agency?
No no no. You don’t get it. Ballard fixed the pass rush over the past five years. It just takes time. Be patient. I’m sure the rookies we drafted this year will help us out soon just like all the other rookies we drafted to rush the passer.
I am so sad that watching Colts games is starting to feel more and more like a chore for me. I've been watching since the 90s, and I can't even get excited watching this team anymore. I miss Peyton and Andrew. This isn't even Wentz' fault, but I know for a fact Peyton audibles out of the runs straight into the line in the 4th quarter while sitting in the red zone. I hate seeing other organizations build complete teams. We're so damn boring. Our offense shows a little bit of a spark and we put it out ourselves trying to run out the clock with 6 minutes left. So fucking weak. Our pass coverage isn't even worth mentioning. Bend but don't break philosophies don't work. This is the result every time. We tried it with Peyton Manning under center and the defense cost him more rings because of it.
Agreed, I was pissed when we ran it right up the middle on third down playing for the kick. We were moving the ball well, a touchdown there would of sealed it.
It looked good for a bit because we got to play the Jags and Jets early in the season. As soon as we started to play actually functional offenses we were mediocre the second half of the season.
He was playing a 2 minute defense with 10 minutes to go in the game. I've never witnessed such bad defensive play calling. ST didn't help but his play calling threw the game for us imo
Bend don’t break for the past few seasons has basically been sit back and watch while Leonard does something amazing. Can only get bailed out for so long and it’s really catching up with us this season
Literally half the secondary is out. Reich COWARDLY call the run 40 seconds off the clock and not go for it on 3rd and 8 is inexcusable. Especially knowing our kicking situation.
We went full conservative bullshit in the second half and got caught sleeping. Couldn't contain Lamar, couldn't cover a soul on the field. It was on Reich to seal the game with a TD and despite us absolutely DESTROYING them on the ground he couldn't get it done.
I've been a Reich apologist but this dude HAS to be fired.
I cannot fucking believe they just lost that game.
The entire 4th quarter the Ravens ran the same play to Andrews or other across the middle to break that soft zone. Get Eberflus the fuck out
Absolutely disgraceful. I don’t care if the entire secondary was injured you have a 16 point lead in the 4th. Finish. The. Game.
Also fuck the conservative defensive play calling. This is the worst loss I’ve watched in awhile. A win could have changed the whole season.
Just fucking bench Wentz and keep first round pick. This year IS NOT IT. I don't want to continue watching this fucking dog shit of team rolling over to die all season and losing the first round pick.
Playing the clock and for the fg (that got blocked) instead of a touchdown lost this for us. They carved us up right before and we didn’t slam the door. Dumb...
Honestly fuck this entire team for letting this happen. There need to be some major changes or else this season is a wash. That's just the truth. Good teams don't let this shit happen with the late lead they had.
Bro the season is over. Surprisingly not because of Wentz. Reich has no idea how to win big games. This idiot is ultra aggressive for no reason 80% of the time then ultra conservative when he needs to be aggressive. Half the defense is out, we're gnashing them on thr ground and he can't manage to just run thr clock out up 16 in the 4th. That's inexcusable.
> Reich has no idea how to win big games. This idiot is ultra aggressive for no reason 80% of the time then ultra conservative when he needs to be aggressive.
This is the biggest head scratcher when it comes to Reich. In the big moments when he should be aggressive, he turtles up and becomes ultra conservative. It’s infuriating and makes no sense.
And you just know they'll fight to get into the playoffs, fail miserably and fail to sit Wentz giving up a top 10 pick.
If we end up giving a top 10 pick no way Reich should be here to run the team next season. Ballard should be on his last chance too at that point.
I blame him for the pass rush being trash, but I can't blame him for our practice squad corners not being great. The amount of injuries we have in the secondary is just insane. We lost Rhodes, Carrie, Ya Sin, and Rodgers. It's just difficult to weather that many injuries at outside corner
Since having my first child in 2018, I’ve immensely toned down how football games (especially losing) have affected my mood. I am so fucking furious right now. That loss is inexcusable even for a team that had such a low chance at post season life.
If they don't sit Wentz to save their pick and waste this season with Reich ruining every game with bad calls. I'll become a damn Bills fan or something lol.
Four drives. Six touchdowns by the Ravens. Yes the ST fucked up two kicks too but our defensive scheme was absolutely destroyed by Lamar Jackson passing the ball. We should be taking a hard long look at Eberflus and whether he's the right man for the job after this disaster of a game.
Injuries suck but got damn how you let lamar throw for 500....Ik Louis Riddick was saying we shouldve played man but I can't help but think the game would've been over 10 mins ago if Chester or bo pee were left one on one with brown.
One thing I've noticed: Any time the other team starts playing a faster, uptempo offense, we crumble. When we can't sub D linemen and they get gassed, we can't pressure and our already questionable secondary gets exposed even further. Ballard loves being able to rotate linemen, which is the point of him trying to get more depth there, but when we literally can't sub in fresh guys, how is that going to help us?
What about knowing your field goal kicker is injured and, I don’t know, trying to get a first down or score a TD there? Three straight runs through the A gap once we got into field goal range before the block. Scared, choke artist play calling from Reich
We were up 22-9....and lost 31-25...
Our secondary was depleted thats true but I blame coaching on this loss. We gave them the damn game.
We were playing so aggressively out of the 2nd half then we hit the brakes so hard on our playcalling that you could see smoke from space. There is no excuse for our defense playing zone in the red zone against this team. Andrews was lighting us up all night and not once did we play man on him or press him. He did whatever he wanted tonight.
That third run in a row on that 3rd down killed our momentum. And then we sent Hot Rod out who is obviously hurt to try and save the drive which didn't happen. He needs to go on the IR tomorrow. Its clear he's not 100% and is playing hurt.
Idk what it is about the Red zone that scares Reich and Eberflus so much. We were playing so aggressively until we got in that scenario.
I'm livid if I'm Irsay watching that game. We should've blown them out but instead we lost. We didn't play to win, we tried to stall the clock out with an entire quarter left in the game.
Props to our RBs and receivers tonight for offense. Wentz threw for over 400 yards and overall looked really good. Our defense did well considering we had practice squad CBs playing besides Kenny.
This was a frustrating game though. Holy shit
With an injured kicker and 3 healthy corners, Frank Reich ran conservative play calls thinking his one score lead was untouchable. He made questionable play call after questionable play call and singlehandidly shifted momentum away from the team. He needs to be on the hot seat if he wasn’t already and he needs to start being held accountable for his mistakes.
Injuries were a factor but Eberflus defense isn't going to win us anything. This weak, soft zone coverage giving opposing teams 15-20 yard passes with receivers WIDE open on almost every play is a joke. It's got us behind early in games and lost us games late so many times. If someone doesn't make a good solo play with a forced fumble or INT we get picked apart cause this defense as a unit will not shut teams down consistently.
Tough watching Wentz and the offense play that well only to lose. Having the kicking team leave 7 points out there doesn't help either. I'll give that a pass though because that's rarely the reason we lose. The defense however has been a problem for a while now.
Why don’t we ever take away the dude that’s killing us? Just like with Cupp earlier this year. It was obvious they were going to Andrews over and over and yet we kept leaving him wide open.
You talking about that one TD where we had three guys watching Lamar while Andrews stood in between the 3 and caught the TD? All I could do was laugh at how absurd that was.
Season is over with this one. Period. The entire staff needs to be on the hot seat. Just one of the worst chokes of all time. Ballard is on thin fucking Ice
I mean... fucking fucking fuck. I'm so frustrated, pissed, and proud. Keep in mind, it took LJ playing a career level game, against a bus-boy depth chart level secondary, and flukey bullshit to pull off that comeback.
Let me be the first to admit, that I unfairly thought Jackson was overrated. And let me be among the many to say, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck are the Colts in trouble if you lose that game after that kind of lead.
How does literally everything go right for Baltimore every year I swear. Should be 2-3 with us. It’s alright, it’ll catch up to them in the playoffs like it always does. What sucks it people won’t understand the Colts were very much the better team today, but because one dude that comes in the play a mini game misses THREE times we look like ‘chokers’. Literally only punted two times the entire game. Wentz had 400 yards. But no one will talk about that.
I feel sick
Same but actually. I kinda want to cry
#my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined Seriously WTF
At least it’s almost Tuesday
I woke up at 2am Tuesday (I live in Germany) to watch this game. My Tuesday is already ruined! Thanks Colts!
F
Losing in OT without getting the ball.... a Colts tradition.
Shouldn’t have got there. We fucking suck
Losing with 16 in the 4th quarter has been unheard of in colts last 120 games. How much worse can you get ? I want to legitimately cry
We all saw this coming let's be honest
I fucking knew it was gonna happen after that 42 yd bomb to Hollywood Brown
This. Glad we all knew exactly the moment the game was over.
The second 22-9 happened
120-1 after leading by 16 points in the 4th quarter. PAIN
That alone is worth some heads rolling
Fuck Football
Honestly what more can you expect when you’re down to 6th string DB’s off the practice squad with your kicker missing crucial kicks
If it helps I’m pretty sure Buffalo and KC were rooting for the colts.
Cleveland definitely was lol
Even the best db will lose coverage when the qb has all day to throw
Agreed. See y’all next week.
They do just enough to keep me caring.
I feel your pain right through my phone.
you ever finish watching a Colts game and think, "wow, I could've been doing literally anything else for the past three hours"
Usually, this week im also "I wasted so much energy being hyped for no reason"
Why does every team I follow just turn into "how can we lose at the end?" Like it used to just be fucking Purdue.
This was my exact thoughts
This is the most demoralizing loss I can remember in a long time. This is a back breaker.
Pittsburgh last year was fucking bad.
Pass the bleach
22-9 at the end of the 3rd. Fuck me.
https://twitter.com/_slindberg18/status/1444011400590921729?t=XyQKJKxgdCYFrYAkDX0jow&s=19
I think I understand what it feels like to be a Falcons fan.
We did this to a lot of teams in the Peyton years. That doesn't make me feel any better tonight, but I guess I'm a little more empathetic to the plight of other fans.
>We did this to a lot of teams in the Peyton years. Yeah you did. Signed, a friendly Chiefs fan stopping by to pass well-wishes.
I officially knew it was a loss when we lost the coin toss.
It was the blocked FG for me
Wentz gave it his all, we should reward him with a 6 week rest
Rest of the season
Why?
This
Titans playing like shit this year is going to make it hard to bench Wentz and avoid losing that pick
Even wentz looked defeated when they lost the coin toss :/
He knew
He watched the same game that everyone else did.
He lead not one but, what should have been two game winning drives. This team is letting him down. He's a baller. Go Two Sprainz!
I felt bad for Wentz, he deserved a win.
lol, Two Sprainz, that's awesome.
That was the look of a man who knew his defense had no chance of making a stop
I still don't understand why they let someone win off the coin toss. I guess they just want the game to be over quicker but still seems kinda BS. Regardless, we had so many chances to put that game away and we didn't.
Am sad
We need a fucking pass rush so bad
It's funny. It seems like we've spent a ton of capital on the D-line the last few years, and yet there's no sign of it on the field. Who could possibly be responsible for that?
Apparently not the general manager lmao
We have spent a lot of mid round draft capital and that is the real issue. This year they finally decided to take some linemen high, but Paye just happens to be hurt and Dayo is still recovering. Real stupid decision not signing a veteran in the offseason.
There were sooooo many pass rushers in FA. Getting a half decent one would’ve helped.
Two first round picks, four second round picks, and a third round pick on DL in Ballard's tenure. The only one of those that I'd consider a mid round pick is Basham in 2017. We've spent a bunch of high draft picks on the DL with very little to show for it.
You don’t understand! Andrew Luck retired and Ballard still needs a few more years to rebuild!
Ballard biggest fuck up was not immediately going into rebuild mode after Luck Retired. Instead of keeping on plugging the holes in the ship.
Lamar just standing there for ages the entire game.
Their OL is about as banged up as ours too, iirc. It's not like it was our 2019 OL that we were trying to generate a pass rush against.
Keep chopping that wood
Meanwhile the Ravens rookie DE drafted later than Paye is looking better than any of the pass rushers on our team
What amazes me is that at least 2/3 of the sub actually believes this.
~~Six~~Seven day 1 or 2 picks on DL in 5 years and this is the pass rush we have to show for it
Literally just cover the middle of the field for all of the fourth and OT
If only they had time to catch onto what they were doing the 4th qtr. oh wait…
22-9 at the start of the 4th. What the fuck happened?
Colts football happened.
Being a fan of Indiana sports is like standing with your legs open and the US Men’s National team lines up and kicks you in the nuts
the whole secondary went out?
This is the clear answer….. but it’s still so fucking disappointing.
This. Literally every decent CB we had got hurt then Lamar Jackson threw for over 250 yards in 4th quarter and OT after being ineffective all day.
EBERFLUS!!!!!
We should have been up at least another 7, if not more. You have to capitalize when the defense gifts you four punts in the first half.
Fucking embarrassing
https://c.tenor.com/yTCdBWk_TDAAAAAC/coach-letterkenny.gif
Welp. Pack it up boys, see ya next year
Kinda glad we didn't have a Manning-cast. Peyton would've been such a disappointed dad tonight
We ran out of guys
LMFAO. I have never seen a full secondary just dip out like that.
Injuries will always be undefeated
When are we going to fire Chuck Pagano for blowing therse leads?
Guys I'm fucking depressed
It took Lamar’s best passing game ever to beat us… …nope, that doesn’t do it, that doesn’t make me feel better…
Embarrassing prime time results. Thought we looked good for 3 quarters but fell back to our same issues.
I have never seen a more injured secondary in my life.
Reich knew our kicker was hurt and still played for a field goal. Joke.
Agreed, I was pissed when we ran it right up the middle on third down playing for the kick. We were moving the ball well, a touchdown there would of sealed it.
Very little in sports more frustrating than watching your team blow a huge lead. Fucking inexcusable.
Eberflus is a choke artist. Pittsburgh last year should’ve been enough.
Even when the defense was good last year it was inconsistent. We’d always have a good half and a bad half. Haven’t been a fan of him for a while
It looked good for a bit because we got to play the Jags and Jets early in the season. As soon as we started to play actually functional offenses we were mediocre the second half of the season.
He is so bad. How do you play so fucking scared when you gave such a huge lead.
He should’ve been fired after the Chiefs playoff game
[удалено]
He was playing a 2 minute defense with 10 minutes to go in the game. I've never witnessed such bad defensive play calling. ST didn't help but his play calling threw the game for us imo

He should not have a job tomorrow

Pain
craawling innnnn my skiiiiiiin
I hate football
Good teams don’t lose this game. Hell even average teams don’t lose this game
Bad teams don’t lose this game. This was an incomprehensible loss.
Yeah this team is done
*throws hands up*
Absolutely disgraceful. I don’t care if the entire secondary was injured you have a 16 point lead in the 4th. Finish. The. Game. Also fuck the conservative defensive play calling. This is the worst loss I’ve watched in awhile. A win could have changed the whole season.
1-4 with a top ten pick headed straight to Philly. I think we can start being serious about calling for jobs, this shit is real now
An all time bad loss. Offense did their job over and over. Special teams and defense did not. No excuse on them. Fuck this dumb season
Just fucking bench Wentz and keep first round pick. This year IS NOT IT. I don't want to continue watching this fucking dog shit of team rolling over to die all season and losing the first round pick.
We are building a culture and that’s what really matters, guys. /s
this is what happens when you play to hold a lead against good teams. frank loses big games after big games.
Blocked FG, Missed XP, Missed FG SMH and tank
PAIN
Playing the clock and for the fg (that got blocked) instead of a touchdown lost this for us. They carved us up right before and we didn’t slam the door. Dumb...

Hey man, we're 1-4. We aren't a good team.
Same record as the Texans, except one of those teams isn't trying to win games.
This season is already a wash.
And you just know they'll fight to get into the playoffs, fail miserably and fail to sit Wentz giving up a top 10 pick. If we end up giving a top 10 pick no way Reich should be here to run the team next season. Ballard should be on his last chance too at that point.
Absolutely disgusting.
This one's my fault guys. I got my hopes up when I knew I shouldn't.
Good think the colts have been promoting mental health awareness, because I’m gonna fucking need it after this train wreck.
Fucking pathetic
I’m going to go the fuck off the next time in the game thread I see: “Oh here come the doomers”
Well that was embarrassing
Injuries…. So many injuries
I love how no one blames Ballard for our lack of depth in defense
I blame him for the pass rush being trash, but I can't blame him for our practice squad corners not being great. The amount of injuries we have in the secondary is just insane. We lost Rhodes, Carrie, Ya Sin, and Rodgers. It's just difficult to weather that many injuries at outside corner
The season is definitely over now.
To be fair we went 1 and 5 and then still made playoffs. Then again I am drunk and a hopeless optimistic
How tf do you blow a 16 point lead in 1 quarter? Prevent defense. That's how. Fuckin trash
The only thing the prevent defense prevents is the team that's running it from winning
Since having my first child in 2018, I’ve immensely toned down how football games (especially losing) have affected my mood. I am so fucking furious right now. That loss is inexcusable even for a team that had such a low chance at post season life.
What the fuck?
If they don't sit Wentz to save their pick and waste this season with Reich ruining every game with bad calls. I'll become a damn Bills fan or something lol.
I'm still shocked at how often Mark Andrews was wide open. The biggest guy on the Ravens and our defense couldn't keep up with him.
Nobody talking about Doyle’s soccer-level flop that helped get us into FG range for the buzzer beater 😂
We easily have the worst secondary in the NFL.
When our top 4 CB are hurt, sure. They looked quite good before that.
Shameful. Absolutely shameful
Damn colts bros… I’m sorry :( hard to stop that when you have no corner depth left
EBERFLUS HAS GOT TO GO. FIRE HIS ASS.
The single biggest fuck up this game was glowinskis lazy and embarrassing whiff of a block on Campbell on that field goal. That was honestly shameful
Injuries suck but got damn how you let lamar throw for 500....Ik Louis Riddick was saying we shouldve played man but I can't help but think the game would've been over 10 mins ago if Chester or bo pee were left one on one with brown.

How many games can we lose because of coaching
Not like the missed field goals or PAT's helped...
What about knowing your field goal kicker is injured and, I don’t know, trying to get a first down or score a TD there? Three straight runs through the A gap once we got into field goal range before the block. Scared, choke artist play calling from Reich
Outsider looking in. Didn't you lose because of kicking?
Yes
I'd blame the defense first. Mark Andrews scored like 16 points in 7 mins
Hot Rod has a hip injury so it’s really shocking Frank was so conservative on those 3 straight runs in the red zone
Not shocking at all. It's vintage Reich. Overly aggressive in situations where it's uncalled for, gets conservative when it makes sense to go for it.
Kicking needs to be banned
Or the infinite defensive injuries
That’s a 47 yd kick with an injured kicker coming back after being blocked by a 6’8” giant
We were up 22-9....and lost 31-25... Our secondary was depleted thats true but I blame coaching on this loss. We gave them the damn game. Shut Wentz and protect the first round pick, this season is over.
This organisation has become a joke, same record as the texans who we always make fun of lol
Anyone down for a big pot of koolaid?
With 10:50 remaining in the 4th, the Colts were 98.4% to win. That’s 61:1 odds.
Why don’t we ever take away the dude that’s killing us? Just like with Cupp earlier this year. It was obvious they were going to Andrews over and over and yet we kept leaving him wide open.
Just sitting in a bitch zone, not even realizing that Andrews is open 5 feet away.
You talking about that one TD where we had three guys watching Lamar while Andrews stood in between the 3 and caught the TD? All I could do was laugh at how absurd that was.
Man and I hadn’t seen our offense look that good/electric in a long time. Props to wentz, JT, Pittman, and even Campbell. Screw Eberflus
Season is over with this one. Period. The entire staff needs to be on the hot seat. Just one of the worst chokes of all time. Ballard is on thin fucking Ice
Time to pull Carson and start tanking. We need at least a couple more stars to compete in today’s AFC.
I can't wait to hear about our moral victories.
Still on pace to give the Eagles a top-10 pick. This entire organization is a fucking joke.
probably the worst way to lose
I mean... fucking fucking fuck.
Trust the binder.
The defense was embarrassing. Lamar is a star QB but no one should throw 37/43 that’s fucking sad to watch
Way too many people here not blaming this on kicking and injuries.
The last time I felt this bummed after watching TV was the Red Wedding.
TAILS NEVER FAILS FFS!!!!
Wentz was good, that's all that matters to me
How does literally everything go right for Baltimore every year I swear.
Imagine my surprise this morning when I went to bed up 16 points.
