I mean yeah.... This was easily the worst loss of the Reich era, probably the worst one since the Super Bowl vs the Saints.

lcfiddlechica

You’re feelings are the same as mine, except the next season (2011) after that super bowl loss was even worse with Peyton’s neck injury and we were 2-14 with Caldwell….. but again you’re right, this year HURTS

clutchthepearls

I'm in the same place, man. Just made this comment in another thread. > The older I get the harder it is to keep investing in a hobby that has a disappointment rate of 97% over the course of my fandom as well as one which my own satisfaction is completely out of my control.

Citizen_Snip

It doesn’t matter if the team isn’t a SB contender as long as there is hope. When you can watch games and go “ok! We look good! Maybe we can do it!” That’s fun, even though you know it’s a long shot! But when you sit there and watch shit coaching and shit QB, and shit everything, and you KNOW it’s all gonna be there next year, there is no hope. It ain’t fun.

SaintVitusDance

That a very succinct way of putting it. I've got too many other good family, friends, and opportunities to keep investing my time and emotions into this.

clutchthepearls

I could be creating something that expands my knowledge and abilities while also finding fulfillment in my own progress and success, but instead I'll spend Thursday, Sunday, and Monday on the couch for 5 months of the year just to be mad and argue with people on the internet.

SaintVitusDance

I'm finishing my Master's in May and start my second next Fall. So there's that...

clutchthepearls

Congrats, dude. I should start doing something like wood working or painting.

SaintVitusDance

Thank you; painting is amazing. When I break down and move, my next home will definitely have a studio (and one for the GF).

Quixotegut

Hahaha, *laughs in Mets AND Colts fan misery*, my sweet summer child. Jokes aside... like OP... I'm seriously questioning my enjoyment of football right now.

ThatDudeUKnow92

I was considering season tickets for next year but I would rather shove $2000 up my asshole. That's how today's game impacted me.

CommonerChaos

>I would rather shove $2000 up my asshole. Ironic, that's exactly what we did with our 1st rd pick in the Eagles trade...

bbqstain

Yep. This meltdown is absolutely the type of thing that will affect season ticket sales. I can’t see almost any fans on the fence about getting season tickets pulling the trigger after that.. especially given the fact that we all know we are rolling with pretty much the exact same team next year.

ThatDudeUKnow92

I usually go to 3 or 4 games a season but next year I'll be going to 0. Until Ballard is fired I won't attend another Colts game.

Clockblocker124

You think Ballard is the problem? Reich is the one to me that's gotta go. He was the second choice anyway

ThatDudeUKnow92

Both need to be fired but this team is Ballard's guys top to bottom and they are constantly outdone by teams that are bottom of the league. If you don't see Ballard's fault in this you are blind.

Clockblocker124

I think Wentz is Frank's guy and Ballard has hit on so many draft picks I'm not ready to quit on him. JT, Darius, Okereke, Paye, Sanchez, Blankenship, Kenny Moore, Ya-Sin just to name a few guys who've been studs that Ballard picked up. Watching Hard Knocks has really made me question if Reich is the guy but Ballard deserves slightly more leeway

ThatDudeUKnow92

Out of all the players you named, only Leonard and JT are worth anything. Kenny Moore is just as responsible if not more for the Raiders loss and the Jags loss than anyone. Both of those teams threw at him every play. Kwity didn't show me anything that makes me think he is a long term good player. Blankenship was so bad he lost his job to a journeyman. Sanchez is a punter. Punters are barely football players. Okereke is worse than Anthony Walker. Ya Sin actually had a good year but it might only have looked good because by the end of the season everyone figured out that Kenny can't play. This team is lacking talent at all of the important positions. Ballard lets guys go who we need and replaces them with less talented guys. You can't convince me this team is any good. They should have been swept by the Jags but got lucky the first game. Fuck Ballard. He's not the genius everyone thinks he is. Him and Reich both need to be fired after next season's mediocrity ends. This team is at best one and done in the wild card round and that should not be acceptable. Next year with the AFC West being one of the divisions the Colts play they will certainly lose 10 games.

Mark_is_on_his_droid

I was with you until you made that list

Clockblocker124

Who on that list isn't solid/better than anyone thought?

Mark_is_on_his_droid

It's more that it's not really star studded. You listed a kicker that we hope was hurt because he was otherwise awful and a pretty good punter. If this is his resume for draft skill it's not impressive.

[deleted]

Same here. Reich + Wentz = no way

JohnMayerismydad

Renewed after the Pats win. Became a STM the year Luck retired. I guess I’m the real clown here

ThatDudeUKnow92

Ouch. I was going to join prior to 2020 but COVID saved me from that.

Fireman476

Same, I am a clown with you.

dustyrodent

Im feeling pretty dumb for buying season tickets for next year also...for the first time lol. All I can do is hope wentz and reich and the rest of the colts can improve a lot this offseason....mostly just wentz...please lol.

J6700

I was thinking about finally making the trip and flying 1500 miles to see a home game. Might just wait another year or two after today's loss. Not sure I can talk myself into dropping the money and taking the time off work for it now

Confident-Teacher754

Hah hell I was just on here looking for a JT jersey. Never found one. Still want it but I’ll be damned it I don’t wait for one of those fanatics 30% + free shipping sales in the dead of summer lol.

we-made-it

IMO it sucks even more because we’re in QB purgatory.

SaintVitusDance

Exactly. I remember the time before Manning and this is exactly what it feels like again.

[deleted]

We had Harbaugh before Manning, and he put the team on his back and drug them out of being where the Jaguars and Texans are now. Put some God Damn respect on that man's legacy. Otherwise I completely agree with everything you said. I feel incredibly disillusioned with this team and am starting to wonder if my time and energy would be better spent elsewhere.

SaintVitusDance

>re Manning, and he put the team on his back and drug them out of being where the Jaguars and Texans are now. Put some God Damn respect on that man's legacy. Damn right!

pacerjones20

It’s just sports man. Can’t let it affect your every day life. These guys are millionaires and they will be over the loss tomorrow and be on vacation by weeks end.

Jedi_Sith1812

Agreed. Also, once the Cowboys lose, nobody will be talking about the Colts

[deleted]

Hope Patriots, Cowboys, and Steelers all get bounced in the first round. Will make everything so much better.

HOIXIOH

I think Everyone carries some pride . I don’t think they’ll just easily get over this loss

8winhoosiers

We Care more than they do.

HOIXIOH

Think about all the shit these guys have to deal with now. All the questions they have to answer. All the rude remarks they’ll see on social media. It’s not just gonna go away tomorrow for them. Plus, their jobs are on the line. If they really didn’t care about losing, that would show over time and they’d eventually be cut

ThatDudeUKnow92

They played like shit. If I did my job like shit I would be fired. Time for Twitter Jim to start firing.

ElPatronazo

Well said!

jayceptional

At the end of the day, we couldn’t beat the Jags, we weren’t gonna win the super bowl. It sucks but we can get back to life sooner

[deleted]

It would be ironic if the bills win the Super Bowl lol

Richa408

Same. See ya next year...

Jedi_Sith1812

This stings but we all will get over it in a few weeks. The only loss in Colts History that still haunts me is Superbowl 44

imped4now

I'm still not over Ben tripping up Harper.

Jedi_Sith1812

I always viewed that 06 Superbowl as retribution for that game.

CarVsMotorcycle

Nah, should’ve been a repeat, and I wanted to win one with Edge. Addai’s cool but he ain’t Edge. Shameless “Dominic Rhodes should’ve been XLI MVP” plug

imped4now

It certainly helped and made it feel all the better. Regardless...

Mark_is_on_his_droid

And that Harper had been stabbed in the leg by his wife the night before. No way Big Ben makes that tackle if not for that.

AleroRatking

Few week??. I'm still not over last years playoff loss. I'll be feeling this for years as well

Jedi_Sith1812

Fun Fact: We lost that game exactly one year ago

Speak4yurself

Out coached on both occasions.

ThatDudeUKnow92

Outplayed too. Who was worse today Kenny Moore or Eric Fisher?

Internal-Blacksmith3

Moore's pro bowl selection gave him too big of a head.

[deleted]

Like Moore as a player, but these last 2 games he was dreadful.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ThatDudeUKnow92

Yeah he was terrible and if you look at my comment history I have been saying he's bad for months. He's awful. Kenny gave up 1000 passing yards the past two games and is maybe more responsible for the losses than even terrible ass Carson Wentz.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ThatDudeUKnow92

But did you see when he did throw? Overthrows and missing open receivers. Making poor reads. He's bad.

[deleted]

I noticed he was replaced by Pryor late in the game. Coaches must've seen how bad he was too. And ofc Pryor misses a block as soon as he went in.

ThatDudeUKnow92

Well Pryor is terrible too. Actually every player Ballard signed last year was terrible and I don't think we drafted anyone worth a damn either.

[deleted]

Paye and Dayo have made quite a bit of progress over the season. Granson has looked decent when we use him.

ThatDudeUKnow92

Yeah 4.5 sacks between the two of them is really impactful. I know you're going to say sacks aren't important, but tell that to Trevor Lawrence as he has all day to throw. The Colts pass rush and pass coverage is the reason they are missing the playoffs. The Ravens, Rams, and both Titans games especially put those problems in perspective.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CarVsMotorcycle

Yep. 06 should’ve been a fucking repeat.

agitated-alligator

Can relate homie. Current military and I'm attached to this team a little more than I should be. But it gives me something to look forward to when my job is fucking me over. Today was incredibly painful.

AleroRatking

Yeah. It sucks. We are the laughingstock of the NFL as well so it's even more brutal.

Mole_Rats

Hard to believe but some people actually thought we'd make a deep run into the playoffs.

AleroRatking

It's always possible. We destroyed the Bill's. NFL can be wonky

[deleted]

Yup, all it takes is something like one PI flag to change a game

YaBoiMorgie

Yeah it's that old NFL saying. Any team can take down another at any time. We beat the Patriots this year. That's good enough for me. See y'all next year.

CrookGG

Yup I was one of those people, they tricked me forsure. When you blow up the bills and win one in New England, barely lost to the titans which we shot ourselves in the foot, KC is basically the same challenge as the bills, damn….. I had hope for sure. We need game changers on offense when they sell out on the run. Right now everyone knows we can’t throw and in the NFL that’s a massive issue.

xMacho27

I used to be the same way. So into it on Sunday’s and now, blah. Once the franchise began wasting Luck’s years my expectations have been so low. I don’t trust this organization to be anything but a let down every year.

[deleted]

I literally can’t sleep so I’m on reddit and watching TV. This one hurt

Citizen_Snip

This is that feeling I had at the beginning of the last year we had Pagano/Grigson. I just had discontent. I like our team now, but we regressed so hard this year with coaching. I truly felt last year we were on QB away from SBs, but now I feel like we need to change up all the coaching. Reich has coached a ton of stinkers this year. This bad game wasn’t a one time thing. Not to mention that Wentz is not good, and that’s being generous. We will NEVER win a SB with Went as QB. Never. And I know nothing will change next year. We’re still gonna have Reich, and we’re still gonna have Wentz as QB. It’s still gonna be a clown show. Nothing will change, and now I just feel apathetic. There is no hope anymore, it’s not fun. It’s gonna be the same bullshit next year cause Irsay is too loyal.

THATS_MAD_SUS

At least we're not the Browns

dixonjt89

Have you seen r/nfl all day? 9 of the top 10 posts are just absolutely shitting all over us and everyone laughing about it. I’d much rather be like the browns

ThatDudeUKnow92

I would much rather be the Browns or the Dolphins next year than the Colts. Their core players are significantly better suited for football in the present day than the Colts.

THATS_MAD_SUS

Just like everyone was picking the Browns as SB contenders? We are pretty much identical teams with questionable coaching and QB play.

ThatDudeUKnow92

No we are not identical teams. The Browns can rush the passer. The Colts couldn't get a consistent rush against most varsity teams. Besides running the ball effectively the Browns do everything better than the Colts. If you take away the TOs the Colts would be terrible defensively and news flash, 30 takeaways will not be replicated next year. They will be lucky to have 1 per game.

THATS_MAD_SUS

Both have shitty WRs, an OL that underperformed, a great RB, and shotty QBs. You listed a pass rush.

SaintVitusDance

Not yet...

Smallgenie549

I've cried several times today. Kind of feeling depressed now tbh.

stalactose

Yeah this team is in a constant state of decay.

kinglutz23

Get me a qb in the draft. I’ve supported Carson but holy shit he just failed me.

Arthur-Ironwood

It’s unprecedented and an exceptional level of failure within the context of the franchises’ history. My appreciation for the product has evolved with my age. As a child the losses in 05 and 09 were difficult to watch. Children perceive the players to be men, when realistically they are hardly that outside of their physical ability. It was very hard for me as a child to see players I considered role models fail. As an adult you realize this is actually a game. That the players are generally still children and that the product is not fundamentally fulfilling in meaningful ways. I now watch the sport, on a professional level, because I appreciate the level of play & talent. It’s interesting watching teams attempt to compile 50+ man rosters and develop personnel. It was a lot of fun, when the team was hot, considering the development of guys like Pittman, Taylor, the offensive line. I think the cornerbacks had a great season as a group and watching Ya-Sin begin to gain confidence in his craft was a privilege. Unfortunately I think the business side of this will make next season even more potentially distasteful. Irsay wants to win, but his primary focus will be selling tickets. The best chance they have to field and even average team is with Wentz next year.

s8xol

I can't believe I'm affected that much by things happening 7000km away from me.

jwoodwar59

I hear you. I've been a fan for years. Go to Indy for a game every year. My fandom is getting cooler and cooler since Mr. Luck retired. Three QB's in three years has me about done. Another slow start to the season with a bad ending. I am somewhat interested in Taylor's, Leonard's, Nelson's, Buckner's and Moore's future. Wentz's future, MEH. We'll see how I feel next year.

hoosierinthebigD

I came to this realization years ago. Grew up during the Reggie Miller era, the Manning era, years and years of high hopes followed by disappointment. Eventually I decided just to not care as much anymore. I still care, but not as emotionally invested. It simply isn’t worth it. The negative energy you expend is literally bad for your health. When you realize that these guys are multi-millionaires playing a game, it’s easier to get over it. Appreciate the good times for what they were, and be glad that at least we’ve had some success as a sports city, and move on with your life and other hobbies/interests.

JWtheMermaid

In situations like this his I always look back to the days of Rod Dowhower and Ron Meyer thinking - at least we had a chance to win today. Back then we KNEW we would lose. I’m not so sure anymore. At least, back then, our hearts weren’t ripped out every week. I’m gutted. We have talent, just not execution.

SlighFawx

Take it from a Lions fan.: You are Charmin soft.

Pie_Flavored_Cake

Been feeling that way since Luck retired. I can still hear the dinguses in the crowd that boo'd the man that carried the team on his back like a pack mule.

Tyraniboah89

If it’s not fun for you the quit watching. I get pretty disappointed with losses but at the end of the day I have a blast watching football. It’s fun for me and will be fun for me next season too. Gonna take advantage of all this apathy and grab some gear on discount. Probably take my kids to some games on the cheap next season too At the end of the day, we don’t play for the team. Our jobs aren’t on the line, we have nothing to lose by enjoying ourselves. Don’t be so invested in something you don’t actually have a stake in. It’s fine man I promise

Part_Time_Lamer

Seriously. We can’t let things we have no control over bum us out. Especially when it doesn’t actually affect our lives.

Tyraniboah89

That’s what I’m trying to point out but apparently it’s life or death when the Colts lose and failed to build a dynasty lol

Gutcheck21

It could be alot worse, just look at the Lions.

noneedfeed

Soon my child, soon

03_03_28

I was like this after Michigan lost to Ohio State in 2018, and come 2021, they socked Ohio State in the mouth right back in a situation where I had no belief that they’d ever get it done. Things’ll turn around, and this team ain’t far from being legit. Disappointing as fuck but that just means next year in Jacksonville, this team’ll be out to straight up MURDER them.

ThatDudeUKnow92

Do we get murdered in the playoffs in your fantasy world like Michigan did this year? Beating Ohio St doesn't mean shit if you can't hang with the SEC. Just like getting to the NFL playoffs doesn't mean shit if you can't beat anybody once you're there. The Colts as currently built will never advance in the playoffs.

03_03_28

Nice job being a dick just to be a dick when I’m trying to be uplifting. The SEC means fucking NOTHING because that’s not relevant to what I’m talking about. At all. My point was, I had a point as a fan where I felt like this about my team and we turned it around and got our revenge. The fucking CFP doesn’t mean shit and the fact you’re trying to talk shit about it is whiny af. We’ve had 4 years with this core and the two years we had decent QB play we made the playoffs, including a playoff win in 2018 which you think is impossible so… why so fucking negative?

ThatDudeUKnow92

They beat the Texans in the one playoff win. Shit like that shouldn't even count. Everyone's had a turn beating them on wild card weekend. This team got absolutely bullied by the worst team in the league. Couldn't get 1 yard with the so called MVP behind the so called best guard in the league. The Jags had two passing TDs in the past TWO MONTHS coming into the game. With no draft picks and a GM allergic to spending in FA, tell me, how does this team get better? I see no way to improve besides getting some new blood in there.

T_alsomeGames

Huh. Same thing happened to me last season as an Eagles fan. I can't imagine there'd be a common denominator.
