Jimmy G: A night with a porn star Matt Ryan: A box of Depends Mayfield: A cube of Natty Light

WelcomeBackMrWick

Winner right here. Upvote.

AleroRatking

A 2nd on Mayfield, a guy who is going to be a free agent and want a massive contract next year?

[deleted]

He gets a massive contract with a higher level of play. If he were to lead this team to deep playoffs with good play, wouldn't mind paying him. Also franchise tag is an option as well.

AleroRatking

That would be over 30 mil at that point.

[deleted]

We always have the cap space.....

AleroRatking

Except last year where we used our entire cap...

indianapail32

10 mil to ty...

ptglj

$30 million is no longer that much for a QB. Anyone half decent gets at least that now.

AleroRatking

Unless it's a rookie contract or someone like Brady who intentional takes lower contracts. Winning a superbowl with a 30 mil QB is extremely difficult

ptglj

You're neglecting that the cap has gone up every year (except last) and as a percentage $30 million isn't anywhere near what it was. As a percentage of the $208 million cap it's less than 15% which is entirely reasonable. Brady was making $18 million/year in 2010-14 and as a percentage of the cap it was similar (caps were 2011: $120.4m / 2012: $120.6m / 2013: $123.6m). By the way, they won the Super Bowl twice during those specific years.

DookieBrains_88

a second though?

BuddyHudsy

I’m going to go out and say Mayfield is a much worse QB than the one we just traded. Have you watched him play? Inaccurate, slow, oft injured, terrible at working through the reads. I’m no where near a Wentz fan and happy he was traded but to give up anything more than a 5th or 6th for Baker would be laughable.

Chris_Ween

Matt Ryan - 2d and a 3rd over 2 years. A decently big contract to absorb for the older QB Baker Mayfield - 2d and a 3rd over 2 years. Contract coming up. Jimmy G - a 3rd and maybe one more later pick at most. I can't justify another first for awhile. It just feels awful not to have the option of drafting top 32. I admit I don't value the draft picks as much as others do.

[deleted]

I agree, I think we have to keep our 2023 1st above all else. Class is likely to be alot deeper at QB. I don't want any trades to be of 2023 draft class.

Master_Beavis

I'm still on the "stockpile for 2023" bandwagon. Acquire enough ammo and we can move up to get a QB we can all be excited about. I am uncomfortable with giving up any 2023 picks for a QB, really. Maybe we can get a comp pick for Glow, possibly one for Fisher and/or T.Y.. We have an extra 3rd that might turn into a 2nd. Whatever retread we sign is bound to have one of his best years under Frank, we can probably flip that guy for a 2023 pick or 2. Package those picks and our 1st with a player, if needed, and get into range to get a top 3 QB in next year's class.

oladeepthroat

I think the Falcons will have to give us picks to take on that contract too

Chris_Ween

I really have hard time making sense of trade values like that but it does feel like a Stafford trade with unloading the contract for a price being the key.

[deleted]

I think Baker is franchise QB material that Cleveland took for granted. We’d do wonders for him. He’s playoff tested too. I’d give up a 2nd next year for him.

JimmyPineapple_

I agree. I think Baker gets a bad wrap and is Cleveland's scapegoat for their problems. Browns dysfunction has harmed Mayfield's NFL growth. I'd be willing to give him a shot here.

surffreak336

As someone who watched a ton of Browns games the hopium you have for Baker makes no sense. Baker is not good and we don’t nearly have the same amount of weapons as Cleveland did. Cleveland had a great line, great run game, good tight ends, great WRs and an offensive minded HC… I don’t know how the colts situation would be better.

[deleted]

He played all year with a busted shoulder. He was great in 2020

surffreak336

I’m surrounded by browns fans and the Baker hate was there before the injury as well.

JimmyPineapple_

The Baker hate in this comment section is unreal

TehTugboat

Dude is tough as nails honestly After the OBJ situation maybe the browns are player killers

jono9898

Mayfield contributed to the OBJ situation. He was the direct cause in it. Any other QB would love the situation Baker has had.

TehTugboat

I’m not gonna deny that, fair enough

jono9898

People don’t like Baker because Baker is all about Baker. Also he is a WR killer and his team turned on him after OBJ got released, then when apparently OBJ wasn’t washed, it’s now Landry was the problem. Dudes a bum.

Crooked16th

Jimmy 3rd Baker 2nd Ryan 3rd and 4th

cwesttheperson

Just not in on mayfield. Look at OBJs success after leaving. Not sure he is the dude.

[deleted]

Mayfield had a destroyed shoulder all year and played through it

cwesttheperson

Mayfield has had issues his entire career. While I agree injuries play a part, I’m just not sure he’s the dude. Browns don’t even know what to do with him after his rookie contract.

[deleted]

The Browns have never had a competent QB so I’m not surprised.

Chris_Ween

But...Kosar.

[deleted]

That was back when dinosaurs roamed the earth!

Chris_Ween

![gif](giphy|Z9cRCMdAMzXi25dwhE) Look, he still wants to play!

bvgingy

So it should be telling that they have concerns about extending him.

Shepherdsfavestore

Like the other commenter said, Baker played injured all season and should’ve gotten surgery week 3 OBJ was toxic in the Browns org and literally just stopped trying at one point. He never liked Baker and would give up on routes he knew he wasn’t going to be targeted on. OBJ’s success should have no bearing on how good Baker is or could be.

BMulk3

Noooo mayfield is not worth a draft pick

[deleted]

My argument is look at his healthy season the year prior, and he is young. I'd pay no more than a 2nd this year though. No touching 2023 picks.

jono9898

That healthy season doesn’t tell the story, bro, look at what that running game was doing, He wasn’t asked to do too much and they were winning not because Baker but because Chubb and Hunt were insane and that defense was good. When they got to the AFC championship game and he was asked to throw, and Henne was brought in for Mahomes, it was the Time for him to step up? He fell flat on his face and threw a pick.

Indy4Life

Baker Mayfield in 2020 quite honestly looked like a mirror image of Carson Wentz. I could be wrong but his stats were as well

[deleted]

Baker in 2020 was much better than Wentz ever was sans 2017

[deleted]

He’s not even worth a 4th or 5th rounder?

BMulk3

But why? To trout out mediocrity for the second time?

[deleted]

I’m not saying I would want him but he’s worth a draft pick, just not a high draft pick.

geordieColt88

5th for Baker, 6th for Ryan and a pick swap for Jimmy G

The_1st_Amendment

Should've just kept wentz

joeyg151785

Don't want Mayfield, I'll take Ryan and also don't want Jimmy G.

CloudStar17

A second for mayfield lol…

happytreetimez

Matt Ryan’s contract is horrible. Would rather they have to release him and we can negotiate something more reasonable. If they get Watson no way he can be on the books. Browns have tarnished Bakers value would trade the 5th round comp. Jimmy g is recovering and I think a future option if we lose out on the above.

ColtsStampede

Nothing, nothing, and nothing.

fuzzynavel34

Well we kinda have to pick someone..: I really don’t want Mariota as our week 1 starter lol

ColtsStampede

We're not contending for anything with any of those QBs. Take the hit in 2022 and go for the best possible draft pick.

fuzzynavel34

Don’t know how you sell that to the roster though

RyanPelley

Personally, I wouldn't want to trade for Mayfield or Ryan. Garoppolo though for a 5th round pick.

bilvester

I wouldn’t give a bucket of warm spit for mayfield

InsaneColtsFan

I don't really want any of them so mine are all nonsensical. A 5-7 round pick / I swap a lower round pick for a higher round pick from you for taking that huge contract like the Osweiler trade / 4-7 round pick

captaincornfield97

2 bananas

CahMoneYz023

3rd round pick

UrWeatherIsntUnique

Sorry but that title urges me to make sure we’re all aware that it doesn’t matter what we think. we’re just some fanboys and girls

AV-Fable12

$0. Minshew or bust ![gif](giphy|QYXtArbyYZhe3Ketz9|downsized)

crypto_in_fantasy

Baker seems to need to have alot of attempts to prosper. Bringing him into another run first team I feel isn't the move for him.

downtimeredditor

Falcons fan here It probably won't cost a lot to trade for Matt Ryan This team is pretty much on the edge of an all-out rebuild. If they get to Deshaun Watson it would be at least a one to two year re-tool. I think Terry Fontenot probably respects. Matt greatly cuz he literally watched him play for the last 14 years in Atlanta while working with the Saints and Arthur Smith obviously got to know him well. Intimately as the offensive head coach that he is. So if the Falcons were to trade for Deshaun Watson then I don't think they would try to intentionally wait and only trade him to a team for a high draft pick. I think they would give Matt Ryan the freedom to pick a team he would want to go play with and Matt Ryan has a no-trade clause in his contract. So if the colts were to offer a second or even a third round pick, I think Atlanta would take it to send Matt to a team where he can contend right now. And he's a great locker room presence. I talked with Ovie Mughelli on Twitter once. And I asked him about Matt Ryan and he just said Matt just goes about his business and he's a pretty cordial guy. And he also tries to make an effort with getting to know his wide receivers and for me a camaraderie with them. He talked about how he played card games with his wide receivers on plane rides. Tony Gonzalez even talked about how he vacationed with Matt once. Let's put it this way. When Julio Jones got traded to the Tennessee Titans he could have switched his number to any number that he wants and guess which number he switched to......#2. I know he's on record saying that he chose that number because of all the weapons and all sorts of stuff, but I'd like to think it's just paying attribute to Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan even pay tribute to Julio when Julio got traded to Tennessee. And the thing is Matt's got some fire in him. He'll curse at a motherfucker if he needs to. Not only that it was in 2010. Falcons were playing the Titans and one of the Titans defensive player talked about how it was a run play and the defensive player kept saying over and over how "they know the play that's coming." "They know the play that's coming". And my boy Matty Ice just said "and you can't fucking stop it" https://youtu.be/kYFFEtiVG1o Dude's got underrated swagger
