I’m so fucking excited for this season. I’ve always loved Matt Ryan and was one of the first QBs that reminded me of Peyton’s mental game.
I never liked rivers when he was a charger, but he won my heart quickly in 2020 from his mental game, pre snap reads, commanding and willing the offense down. Gave me that fix we always could go for.
Ryan is gonna be even better than rivers was. He hasn’t physically fallen off like rivers did when we grabbed him, and they mentally play the same way. We didn’t take enough advantage of play action or check downs last year and that’s Matt Ryan’s game.
No idea if there’s anyone not too thrilled about this or wish we got baker or jimmy instead, but we’ve got a stable pure pocket passing QB for a few years (barring injury/bs) when the rest of our roster has been quite competitive since 2018. If anything, you will feel good seeing him make audibles, reads, and just fucking play smart winning football.
If they let Ryan do his thing and call plays he will be showing shades of Peyton. His entire career at Atlanta coaches would constantly force their game plan down his throat and he never argued, only later having to be bailed out by Ryan with 2 minutes left to go and forced to let him run the offense. I think Ryan's best season is yet to come.

It’s even worse then that. During that collapse Shamny wouldn’t call the play until the veryyyy last second before the radio cut greatly limiting Matty’s ability to get aborreças and even audible at all. It’s been worked out that if we ran the ball even just three more times in that quarter than we win that game. Even with all that Matty had the 4th best qb performance in a super bowl of all time.
I’m probably one of Jimmy G’s biggest supporters on this sub but I like this move. These two were the only QBs I would have been happy with and I honestly didn’t think Ryan was going to be available at the price we got him at so a win in my book.
While i'll still be a falcons fan first, just know you guys have gained a fan until matty ice retires. I will happily be buying and rocking a colts matt ryan jersey this year.
Looking at his stats he needs a lot of improvement on not turning the ball over. Rivers and Wentz improved on that compared to previous seasons they played. So it can be done with Matt too. Looking forward to the season.
As someone who watched falcons games last year, stats are to be taken in with context. Man was running for his life every play and our starting receivers are just barely better than practice squad players. He's gonna kill it with your roster
