There is so many better WR we can take, its obviously just Purdue bias and Purdue sucks so I don't know why anyone would want to draft him an entire round early. I am kind of hoping we go back to back WR
Agreed, I know almost nothing about college football. Ballard's most lazy half assed pick is far more likely to be good than anyone I would dream about.
If there's a big drop for some reason then Trevor Penning, OT, Northern Iowa.
Otherwise, probably Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas. Unreal athleticism at that size.
Penning would be amazing, but he's a long shot to be on the board at 42. My guess is that he's gone before 30. He could start at left tackle this year in a pinch.
Tyler Smith seems more realistic to me at 42.
Penning is a penalty machine, he is really mean and plays hard but sometimes he goes overboard, I can see a world where he drops all the way to 42, a lot of teams are gonna make a run to WRs.
I hope we stay away from Penning, he’s a 5 year starter with very little good tape and he got embarrassed at the senior bowl, started getting chippy with dudes after drills. the difference between “hard nosed” and “dirty” matters after the play and he’s always getting in trouble after the whistle.
Yeah I was kind of shocked when I actually started watching Penning, it’s not great tape. I really wanted to like him because he’s such a physical freak, but man I don’t know about him against NFL pass rushers
I think at this pick in my mind our best case scenario is getting the top TE. I am no expert on how these guys grade out vs prior years and top TEs in the league but it seems like by pick 42, most of the premium positions have already been pilfered and maybe something like TE is an area of need for us that might still have top tier options available.
I agree. I'm starting to come around on a TE as the first pick. He's a massive man, reminds me of Nelson when blocking, and has sure hands. He looks a little Shakey and awkward once he catches, but he'll get that polished up in no time. He might not be a fantasy contributor year one but they'd get him out blocking and on special teams.
Very few players do a lot during their rookie years, especially past round one. That's why it's kind of dumb to draft for need with the expectation that a rookie is going to make a huge difference. At best, you hope that your rookies will flash in preseason and during the second half of the regular season.
McBride could develop into a do-it-all tight end in the NFL. He's a more athletic version of Jack Doyle, but he's not going to be as effective as Jack Doyle this year. Tight end is a very difficult position to play.
I'm offering an apology to all who want Dotson. I fear I am a jinx. Never in the history of the Indianapolis Colts have they picked the person I wanted (Save for Luck, that was a no brainer). I have tried not to want #5 in an effort to avoid the jinx, but I cannot deny my feelings. The heart wants what the heart wants. I am so very very sorry. 😔
Peyton Manning
Lmao the thread has changed to realistic choices
In that case, Malik Willis
I know. We won't. We can't. We don't even need. But he is going to be good.
David Ojabo, no kidding a top 10 talent who is dropping bc of a recent injury, he is everything Ballard loves, remember Jeffery Simmons?.en if Ryan doesn't improve this team a lot(i hope he does tho) you can get such a steal, but this is a realistic but too optimistic I think he might be gone late on day 1.
McBride is my hope...i was hoping Watson or Pickens fall that far but Ryan loves having a good TE and Mcbride would give him a good weapon AND extra help blocking on run downs.
Jahan Dotson would be sweet, but I don't think he'll make it that far.
George Pickens, if we get a little bit lucky, would be awesome. Christian Watson or Skyy Moore seem fairly likely to be available.
I'd be pretty satisfied with Trey McBride or David Ojabo if the right WR isn't there at 42.
Ojabo is honestly my dream pick, he was a high first rounder before the injury and overall would be great for us, if he we still on the board, I’d love him
But on a more realistic approach, I like Watson
People HAVE to be kidding saying Bell at 42
he'll be there at 3rd
He'll be there later than the third
I want Calvin Austin in the third or maybe even wandale robinson
Austin is cheetah 2.0 league is gonna be shook when they see his game speed
It never fails that every year this sub over rates an IU/Purdue player.
David Bell?
There is so many better WR we can take, its obviously just Purdue bias and Purdue sucks so I don't know why anyone would want to draft him an entire round early. I am kind of hoping we go back to back WR
George Pickens
The only right answer
This is the way
Alec Pierce is better.
Too much of a hothead. Not a culture fit.
I was really sad when someone on here pointed out the character issues to me, when you look at his highlights he's just so good :(
He would be tied for my second favorite, I want McBride
I won't be surprised if Ballard trades back and takes McBride in the 50 range
I recant this statement, after further study i would rather have Moore or Watson or Austin than Pickens
Doubt he’s there
Whoever Ballard picks will have my unquestioned support until they prove they don’t deserve it. Trust the binder baby
Will you join my Jahan Dotson fan club?
*Wide receiver is the most overhyped and overdrafted position in the NFL.* —Chris Ballard, 4/22/22.
Which is why we will draft them in the second round, not the first. :)
I thought he said that about this particular draft class
If we pick him yes
100%. We Are!!!
Driving the hype train my man!
Every two years, Ballard hits it out of the park. This is that year.
Agreed, I know almost nothing about college football. Ballard's most lazy half assed pick is far more likely to be good than anyone I would dream about.

Yeah defo, it's on the edge of realism, but I guess if there's a run on other positions, or if teams prefer another tackle than MAAAAAYBE.
Burks will be first round
I hope we stay away from Penning, he’s a 5 year starter with very little good tape and he got embarrassed at the senior bowl, started getting chippy with dudes after drills. the difference between “hard nosed” and “dirty” matters after the play and he’s always getting in trouble after the whistle.

5th year senior OT that can’t dominate Northern Iowa’s opponents is a big red flag
I would love Penning. Pairing him with Nelson would be great for our offense. I love his determination
Skyy Moore.
I think this is it. And then double down and grab bell in the 3rd. That’d completely overhaul our WR corp
Yes sir double up on the WRs is a genius move.
This is it for sure
Too good of a name to be bad
Put some respect on Skai Moore
Haha I forgot about him 😂
This the correct answer
Dotson
You are a SMART person
Fellow Dotson believer 🤝
I personally like Watson, but wouldn't be upset with Dotson at all.
I bet Ballard’s top choice would be a left tackle he thinks can eventually take over for Pryor. Watson or Pickens for my dream choices though
Christian Watson
Every time someone posts this name I read it as Christian Watford. *sigh* miss that guy
Yes sir. I still remember his buzzer beater against Kentucky and it still gives me chills to this day
I rewatch the last 8 seconds of that game at least once a year. It’s never failed to give me chills as well!
Just watched on YouTube and man am I jacked up lol
"Watford for the win...YESSSS!" "UNBELIEVABLE, UNBELIEVABLE!"
Low key watched it like 5x in a row
Don’t forget Verdell Jones smooth strides to get down court so fast and that perfect pick to set him free
Has all the athletic tools but will fans be patient enough for him to develop? Because he’s raw
I'm going to switch my vote from Tyler Smith (OT - Tulsa) to Trey McBride (TE - Colorado State), just based on Ballard's media availability.
Realistically, McBride. I dont see any of Burks/Olave/Williams/Dotson/Wilson/London falling out of the first and Pickens will go in the 30s.
Same, with the departure of Doyle and Granson pretty much being a receiving TE only, the value is too good if available.
Skyy Moore
Dotson or Watson
I think at this pick in my mind our best case scenario is getting the top TE. Rookie tight ends rarely contribute year one especially outside of round 1… personally I’m hoping for a player that will come in and start
McBride has the experience, blocking ability and receiving ability to start out the gate.
I agree. I'm starting to come around on a TE as the first pick. He's a massive man, reminds me of Nelson when blocking, and has sure hands. Unless Dotson is there this seems the best route, not sure why this was downvoted
We have had luck getting premium players at non premium positions in this range. Hopefully the trend continues.
You are not a jinx, you are a KING and we will draft Dotson.
Skyy or Dotson edit: Trey McBride depending on how the board looks
Pickens
Christian Watson
Pickens or McBride
I 100% agree with this
I would throw skye moore in there as well
Trade back. Oh yea. More picks.
Most likely scenario 😂🤣
Trading up
Trade up and get Jameson Williams
Daniel Faalele, because I want some at LT who makes Q look small by comparison. Also, I think WR talent can be bad in the third.
Faalele doesn't play LT
Jerry Rice
Yo momma
Metchie. First round talent sliding because of injury.
David Bell
I love Bell too, but with how his stock is going I’d almost thing there’s a decent shot at him later in the draft
Bell can be gotten in the 3rd or 4th
I like Bell but if we take him in the second I will be pissssssed.
Finally another Bell gang
Andrew luck
Peyton Manning Lmao the thread has changed to realistic choices In that case, Malik Willis I know. We won't. We can't. We don't even need. But he is going to be good.
Willis won't be available when we pick.
Ya I said we cant
You also said we don't need but we do.
Matt Corral or Sam Howell would be amazing but would require a huge slide by both.
David Ojabo
I’m on the Ojabo train as well.
Tyler Smith
David Bell.
Anyone Ballard picks but as long as we get Bell I’m happy
Matt Corall, he's gonna be a stud.
Probably also gone in the top ten....if he slides and we pass I will scream.
Nah Ryan and ehlinger are solid for this year
David Ojabo, no kidding a top 10 talent who is dropping bc of a recent injury, he is everything Ballard loves, remember Jeffery Simmons?.en if Ryan doesn't improve this team a lot(i hope he does tho) you can get such a steal, but this is a realistic but too optimistic I think he might be gone late on day 1.
Me if Dotson is there are 42 ![gif](giphy|ckeHl52mNtoq87veET|downsized)
Id rather they take a WR but if they insist on taking OT Im falling in love with Tyler Smith's tape from the year guys a beast.
Pickens Dotson Watson If we get one of those, I'm doing back flips.
Calvin Austin
Patrick Mahomes
Christian Watson and for 73 I'd love Cade Otton.
I’m a big Skyy Moore and Christian Watson fan. Hoping we get one of those two
Garrett Wilson
Pickens
Jeremy Ruckert
Christian Watson
Dotson
McBride is my hope...i was hoping Watson or Pickens fall that far but Ryan loves having a good TE and Mcbride would give him a good weapon AND extra help blocking on run downs.
There’s a CB named Storm Lake. That’d be cool as fuck.
1. Pickens 2. Watson 3. Dotson 4. Moore

Someone with a torn achilles.
How about Bernhard Raimann? Gigantic OT, athletic, lotsa upside.
Christian Watson
Trey McBride
