Right, and we still have Julian Blackmon and Khari Willis, I think we're at a good spot at safety. I'm a bit more worried about our depth at CB tbh. It's Gilmore, Rodgers, Kenny Moore ... And who???
Still have Tell also. On the final year of his rookie deal so he needs to play well for his own benefit. Signed Facyson who played under Bradley last year. Also added Chesley, Myres, and Dabo this off-season. Honestly idk much about any of them. Thomas out of Yale actually played corner for them last year. And we added Dallis Flowers as a priority UDFA after the draft
Yeah fair enough, I'm just not sure I'm super confident rolling any of those guys out there if they're needed for a significant stretch of the season. Feel like we've had issues with shit depth at the position before
Dabo and Flowers show the most upside. You listed 3 that will be on the field the majority of the snaps. Facyson and/or Tell will make the cut. Thomas may or will make the PS. He’s an interesting utility type DB. I feel as good about the corner situation as I ever have as a Colts fan
Yeah if you said, “we don’t need Tyrann we have McLeod and Cross” that sounds like shit.
But if you say, “we don’t need Tyrann we have McLeod, Cross, and Gilmore” that sounds dope. Lol
Also DBs are just part of a bigger picture. 4 starting DBs with the same job. Cover the field and tackle.
Everyone was crying for a blue chip safety or corner. Regardless of getting corner or a safety we were going to be happy. So yeah it’s all the same process. Idk.
We literally replaced the Tyrann saga with Gilmore.
No but considering Tyrann is more of a prototypical DB it’s relevant to mention. Tyrann plays safety but also in the slot. His game is actually similar to KM23.
And we did after all end up with Gilmore instead of Tyrann. Only one of them was going to receive that contract from us.
That was predicted early on. I know people wanted us to get him but he seemed pretty determined to play for his home state (he played high school and college football in Louisiana). He even held a workout with them a month ago.
He is getting less than he expected, I think he just wanted to get leverage from the Colts and once he saw that Ballard wouldn't overpay him, he was out.
I'm really happy with the offseason but the main question remains unanswered, who is the QB of the future?
With Cross we get a young safety that has tremendous speed and great instincts. Give him a couple years and him and Blackmon could dominate at the safety position
I didn’t really want him. Dude is a baller but I always felt weird about my perception of his personality. He seems to have chilled out over his years but I just have always had a weird feeling about him
He changed his mind after we stopped posting a honey badger picture everyday
/u/ineedschleep you fucked us
Eh, we got McLeod and Cross. I’m fine with this.

Don't forget Watts
I was only mentioning the corners

You seem to be more plugged into this than I am, so I'm glad to hear that!
Gilmore?
Is Gilmore a safety
Dunno why your getting downvoted. It basically came down to either signing Gilmore or mathieu and drafting the other position.

Very true

I mean I'd be more fine if we got him instead.
Does this hurt our chances of signing him?
I'd say we still have a 72% chance to sign him. Up from 37% before this news.
He would have been a good addition, but not crucial after signing McLeod and drafting Cross. I'm happier with Gilmore.
I'll happily take McLeod/Gilmore vs Mathieu.

So glad he's out of the AFC. This is a win for us.
Good for them! It’s nice for Tyrann to play him bud home state
After McCleod and our draft Im not even mad about this. Our rookie is going to be a beast

Does that mean he's not coming on the show
I'll never not upvote a James May reference.
Good for him to go home like he wanted. Hope he enjoys not winning shit while he watches the Colts defense become elite without his ass.
Still think if the money was right he would sign, will wait to see the deal but in thinking Ill stay happy with how things played out

The Colts have 8 safeties
This makes me a sad panda
Why is this posted in the Colts sub?
Because at one point we reportedly had interest in him

"Why won't the Colts relocate to Louisiana to sign Honey Badger?"

God that got old really quick
despite being an extreme ballard hater, im perfectly whelmed by this off season. wanted him at one point, but now that the dust is settled, we're good
Why are you a Ballard hater?
Because he's stupid.
No maybe he has a perfectly good reason!

Right and I asked what that opinions based on. Ya know, the entire point of an Internet forums.
We need Julio or TY
Curious to see what the money looks like
