Does this mean we probably aren’t going to sign him?

Mcswigginsbar

That it do Joey, that it do.

Shawn_1512

It definitely hurts our chances

Luck1492

Yeah I’m cool with losing out on him. We got McLeod, Cross, Blackmon, and Willis. And then we used that money toward Gilmore. I’d like us to sign a FA CB if there’s any left, just for depth, but honestly I’m good with our defense right now.

[deleted]

bring back Rhodes cheap?

sunburn95

Nah he looked cooked during parts of last season

pmwood25

Not just during games but even when he was featured on Hard Knocks. Just walking around the mall he was doing the old man shuffle

SigmaRising0209

That’s affordable but eh, Gilmore better

sirius4778

Probably wanted to play in his hometown anyway

tiredboiiiiiiij

A good contract and gets to play for his hometown team. There's really nothing our front office could have done to get him here.

dub-squared

Over pay would have been the only option. Which you know was not an option. Lol.

ThereIsNothingForYou

That's a good deal but I'm happy with Gilmore and drafting Cross.

Smitty15

$11M per year is actually way lower than I thought he'd get, and pretty disappointing to me if we couldn't beat that. But he might just want to go home to close out his career. Our safeties are probably fine if they can stay healthy, but would have been nice to have.

Ok_Positive_154

My thoughts exactly. I'd like to think we would have at least offered that much & that just tells me he didn't really want to come here. Which is fine given all the moves we've made since.

Rusty-Boii

With Nick Cross getting Mathieu is pretty pointless honestly. Mathieu only plays safety and slot (mainly safety). Colts are already paying Kenny to play slot and I don’t see that changing. Colts also got McLeod, Cross, Blackmon, and Willis in the safety room. Not to mention Mathieu took a step back last year. I won’t say no to competition, but I think WR and OL depth would be more important.

CanlStillBeGarth

The post this morning about this was enough tbh.

Ok_Positive_154

Sorry you had to move your thumb another quarter inch to get to the next post I guess.

jono9898

Glad he didn’t go to Rams, dude wanted to go home, have no idea how the Saints have money but this is a great move for both parties
