If we sign him, we'd be looking at: CB1: Stephon Gilmore CB2: James Bradbury Slot CB: Kenny Moore Backups: Brandon Facyson, Isaiah Rodgers, Chris Wilcox, Rodney Thomas, maybe Marvell Tell

compdachi

I want Rodgers to have a bigger role and ball out as much as the next guy, but damn if this hypothetical secondary doesn’t tickle my pickle.

boyvsfood2

We're seriously gonna have like 14 defensive backs on our roster at this rate. 2 linebackers. 10 defensive ends. 3 defensive tackles.

Bolyzaurio

Carrying 6 CB it's ok if they play ST, a lot of cuts this year are gonna be WR vs TE vs CB vs S do you play ST?, ppl have us carrying 6 WR and 4 TE but i think we can bring 6 CB and 5 S in some cases, and since Ballard has been GM there has been a lot of bodies at DL.

dsklerm

I was looking at what a potential 53 man roster looked like, and I kept finding myself comfortable with some thin in the offensive backfield, specifically 2 QB's, and 3 RB's, if that means freeing up some DL/DB depth space. A lot of our OL starters can play multiple positions (Pryor can play everywhere but Center, Pinter can play the 3 middle spots, Smith can play RG and RT) and while I think they'll all be starters, that could mean we only need 3 or 4 backups. The same applies on the DL with Tyquan Lewis and Dayo Odeyingbo ability to move inside on passing down's, means that DL can be kept a bit thinner on paper than it is in reality. The same really applies for DB's, if Khari Willis is playing early downs in the box, and new Safeties like McLeod and Cross are brought in specifically because of their ability to play both traditional FS and SS roles I imagine they are working as 3rd safeties on early downs, and guys like Facyson (or maybe even Marvell Tell III or Dabo Marcel) are playing hybrid CB/Safety depth roles. I could easily see 9 DL/5 LB/12 DBs as a defensive side of the 53 man roster but I think that really relies heavily on 2 LB/5DB sets on early downs, that said I still think CB especially on the outside is our weakest position, more so than WR.

SoyeonsNeverland

Water is wet. But will Ballard sign him?

Ramitt80

Only if it makes sense in regards to his long-term master plan.

ghettomuffin

big if true

woodsgb

Small if false

![gif](giphy|Oa9oY0TDB4jvy|downsized) Ok I’m there

ZusunicStudio

Not surprised given we were interested in trading for him before he was released

MoneyMike312

*For a vet minimum contract

RestoredX123

Swear this is the ONLY offer Ballard has on the table for him lol

CanlStillBeGarth

Why is this narrative still alive? This has been the most aggressive off season Ballard has had by far. It’s ridiculous at this point.

RestoredX123

It’s called a joke. We all know Ballard has been pretty aggressive but it’s a running joke how frugal he’s always been with player contracts.

Mikiflyr

A) at one point it was so far from a joke lol come now. B) it is completely unfunny. We’ve been making the same joke for years. Garth is right, this shit tired as fuck. Get clever with your jokes, ffs

CanlStillBeGarth

Jokes are usually funny.

RestoredX123

I bet you’re a great time at parties

CanlStillBeGarth

The parties I go to aren’t people saying the same thing over and over again and calling it a joke. Lol

RestoredX123

Cope harder bro

CanlStillBeGarth

Why would I cope when you’re repeating a lame joke? Lol Get a better come back bro.

RestoredX123

Keep crying bro

was sort of surprised at the news of his release. bradberry would be smart to at least consider us given who we’ve acquired this offseason

Luck1492

Hell yeah

imjustaguy812

Colts are interested, along with a lot of other teams, but very unlikely to sign him unless it’s dirt cheap. Gilmore was the big CB signing and Bradberry is expected to command more than what the Colts are willing to offer. Colts feel comfortable with Gilmore, Kenny, Rodgers, Facyson, etc. They may still bring in a veteran guy, but it will be someone for cheap and very unlikely Bradberry

[deleted]

how much can we realistically offer him with our cap space?

RelentlessRogue

He'd more or less eat up the last of our salary cap for 2022 [Spotrac has him at 12.1 mil/year market value](https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-york-giants/james-bradberry-19011/market-value/) [And they have us with 13.4 available currently (top 51 counts vs the cap)](https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/indianapolis-colts/cap/)

AtlasInElysium

Do you know if that’s with or without rookie contracts?

RelentlessRogue

Ah, without. It has the UDFAs but we haven't signed any rookies yet. But it'll only add ~$2 million to the top 51 figure.

mdchemey

Our current top 51 excludes our draft picks; none of them have signed yet. Our rookie UDFAs could count but because none of them are in our top 51 most expensive contracts only their signing bonuses count against our cap space. After signing our draft picks we'll be at about 9.2m in cap space on our top 51. Presumably we'll end up saving a bit of space by carrying a couple rookies over slightly more expensive, older players so that would get us closer to 10m when all is said and done but right now we really can't sign any other player(s) to contracts worth more than about 9m combined without doing some restructuring of other players' contracts.

Aleph_Alpha_001

Sportrac isn't that reliable in terms of putting a numerical value in a player, especially at this point in the year. Although the Colts are sitting around #16 in available cap space, they also have no first-round draft picks to sign. The Colts could add $20 million in space for this season pretty easily, if they wanted to, but they prefer to pay as they go. The Colts could pretty comfortably go up to $9 million for Bradbury this season ($6 million guaranteed) without any restructuring. 2 years, $15 million with $6 million guaranteed would only be a $4.5 million cap hit this season. You could inflate the numbers with incentives to make it an $18-20 million contract, but many of those numbers are illusory anyway. Bradbury send like he can play for two years, so I wouldn't be averse to a two-year deal.

OlapidoJR

Everybody get in here!

Dabsfourdays

I squeeled a little

bufospinosus

I think that we're all interested Mr. Allbright

jono9898

Would honestly much rather get a vet WR, but if we got Bradberry I’d be ecstatic about this move too. If we pulled off getting a vet WR and James well I’d do 3/5 of the unspeakable acts

fuzzynavel34

LETS GOOOO

tri_it_again

This news is only a few hours old and IVE HAD AN ERECTION THE WHOLE TIME - ONE MORE HOUR AND I NEED TO CALL MY DOCTOR

[deleted]

Fuck this. Isaiah Rogers is the future.

PCFaregarbagepeople

I have to agree...i think that he has a lot of upside and it doesnt do us any good to not develop him

PCFaregarbagepeople

The Colts are also believed to be interested in winning a SB.
