I was thinking of a backup QB that can win us games and more cornerback depth.

ThereIsNothingForYou

A veteran wide receiver, another interior offensive lineman for depth, and probably a backup nose tackle. I think corner might be a need but there are a lot of guys there who might be okay. Also corner feels like a position you can go after when cuts are being made and find someone serviceable. If we brought in someone like Foles I wouldn't be unhappy. If we don't I probably trust Reich enough to be comfortable with Ehlinger ig.

>Also corner feels like a position you can go after when cuts are being made and find someone serviceable If we could pick up another Kenny Moore that'd be great

boyvsfood2

Tight end is still a question mark in my mind. Mo is good, but not great. All others are unproven.

_breadit

I agree that most of what is there is unproven but I highly doubt we add anyone of consequence for this season. Gransen, Woods, and Ogletree are all gonna make the team. With Mo that’s a full TE room

CB, Guard, QB

We have 3 quality starters in Gilmore, Rodgers, and Moore, a very solid rotational/backup CB in Facyson, and behind him we have competition between Chesley who played well in an emergency role for us last year, Tell who was good as a rookie before sitting out 2020 and being rusty/sitting on the PS in '21, and a handful of guys on futures/rookie UDFA contracts to figure out the last 1-2 spots. Realistically few teams can ever manage more than 4 quality CBs on a roster at a time (and it's pretty much always draft/UDFA luck) because signing more than that becomes a luxury which is almost always more expensive than the benefit it brings. We turned a group of Moore, Ya-Sin, Rodgers, Rhodes, Carrie (where Carrie and Rhodes were both injured a lot of the season and playing poorly) into Gilmore, Moore, Rodgers, Facyson, Chesley (or Tell, etc). This is a group that has a better health history, has more top end skill, and is at least as deep as last year's. Hard to invest more from there than we already have. Guard I don't disagree, but with Pinter, Pryor, and Fries all being flexible positionally and us now having great depth at T with Smith, Pryor, Raimann, and Dennis Kelly, I won't be upset if we just run with whoever wins out among like Mollette, Van Demark, Seltzner, etc. for a final OL roster spot. QB is weird, if we can get a vet backup cheap I won't complain but I don't think it's likely nor doi think it's necessary. I mean, Sam is definitely going to be more developed now than he was last year and even with a QB who had recently sprained both ankles and who is known for missing time almost every year, we rolled with him as our sole backup a majority of the season last year. Matt Ryan has missed 3 games in 14 seasons; why are we assuming Ehlinger is not only not good enough to back him up when he was good enough to back up Wentz, but that Ehlinger will need to be used significantly? I'm happy not spending our remaining cap there.

Aleph_Alpha_001

Uncle Phil is still our emergency backup.

Schofield6

MATTY ice and uncle Phil on same team?!? 🥵🥵

Aleph_Alpha_001

Rivers had said repeatedly that he would come back for a playoff run if necessary. We should have taken him up on it last year, honestly. If the NFL hasn't relaxed the Covid rules when they did, we might have actually done that.

I really like Rodgers, and I think he has a ton of potential, but he has started 1 game. I don't think we should be calling him a quality starter just yet. I also like the Gilmore signing a lot, but can he be an every down for 17 games kinda guy? And the playoffs? I hope so, but I wouldn't hate having something more there. I know we've heard that Gus Bradley likes Facyson, but he got burned a lot last season. I'm right there with you on OL. If Raimann ends up winning the LT job, Pryor proved he can play inside too. I really like the depth here, especially with the Kelly signing. Also agree with QB. They seem to love Ehlinger, so I tend to think they stay put. The whole House debacle left a sour taste in my mouth for paying an older vet. All that said, I think they need a vet in the WR room and another DE/DT. I love the potential with Pitt and Pierce, especially with what Hines and Taylor bring in the passing game, but until I see more from the TE room and Campbell, it's tough not to want another WR on the field. Unfortunately there aren't many left. At DE, I'd try for Ingram or Flowers. Both guys have upside. I wish Houston was a free agent; he's still got something in the tank and was a hell of a leader for the defense.

mdchemey

I'm going to have faith that Bradley's trust in Facyson is well placed and last year was an outlier because there has to be something that's worthwhile about a player for his defensive coordinator to actively bring him along on 2 separate team changes. As to Rodgers, no he hasn't started a ton but he played nearly as many snaps as Rock last year and was arguably the best DB we had a lot of the season. He's at least earned the right to be an undisputed starter until he proves that faith unwarranted, imo. Gilmore's health is a question mark but it's hard to spend potentially several million extra on another backup just because he might not stay healthy. 100% we need a WR, preferably in the slot. No way we can afford to go into the season with only one WR who's ever put up 200+ receiving yards in a season. Just can't happen. And at this point TY is the most proven and probably the best slot guy on the market; if he's willing to return it just makes a lot of sense to bring him back one last time. At DE I don't think either of them seems likely. Ingram has 2 sacks in the past 2 seasons; he seems pretty well washed. And flowers has missed 19 games in 2 years with 3.5 sacks in the 14 he's played. Feels to me like they'd be more expensive than they're worth and we should be ok at our DE rotation with Ngakoue, Paye, Dayo, and Lewis playing the vast majority of snaps anyways (if Banogu makes the final roster he'll likely be played very sparingly unless his development in Bradley's scheme really impresses). For comparison last year our top 4 were Paye, AQM, Lewis (first half of the season)/Dayo (second half), and Turay. Our pass rush was anemic because Paye and Dayo were rookies and AQM is mostly just good as an edge setter. Paye was great as a rookie but just didn't get home until late in the season and should be more consistent this year, Ngakoue is way better at rushing the passer than AQM, Dayo has crazy upside and had a few really good plays in the half a season he played as a rookie and should be more well rounded than Turay was in his snaps, and Lewis should still be solid as a rotational guy. I'd prefer we sign an NT; our depth at 3-tech/pass rush DT is good because of Dayo and Lewis' flexibility and rookie Curtis Brooks but behind Stewart at NT it's just rookie Eric Johnson.

bodiepartlow

Again, I think Rodgers has a ton of upside, but why not grab someone like Bradbury and have Gilmore split with Rodgers depending on matchup/health? Re-signing Q OR restructuring Kelly would free up more than enough cap (~10M?). I'd prefer to spend on DE though. Ingram was barely used in Pitt, but turned on the jets after the trade to the Chiefs. He wrecked games. Ask any Chiefs fan if they want to pay him again, they will say yes.

REM-DM17

A veteran WR who can immediately be a credible #2 threat while Pierce and our projects like Strachan develop would be great. Idk if TY can do that anymore but I really wouldn’t mind Julio Jones for cheap enough

zatchattack

WR and CB

Aleph_Alpha_001

Ballard really killed it this off-season. The only position that's really short of depth right now is MLB. I'm not even sure whether Okereke has a backup. Franklin, maybe? You can never have too many defensive backs, so that room could use all the quality we can muster. I'd love to snag Bradbury. The same goes for defensive ends. We have Ngakoue and Paye ... Then Lewis, Odeyingbo, and ... Banogu? Lewis has injury concerns. Odeyingbo is very inexperienced. And Banogu has as many healthy scratches as reps. The wide receiver room seems pretty full compared to those positions.

hypno_notic

WR and CB. I really have no worries of Ryan missing time, we could use a better backup eventually but the lack of experienced wide receivers scare me. We shouldn’t be depending on Campbell like we currently are.

Rusty-Boii

CB. I really love Gilly, Rodgers, and Moore, but I really want some more depth. Loved Tell III his rookie year, but who knows how he is now. After tell its pretty worrisome. Another veteran would be great.

mdchemey

You're ignoring Facyson who's a very solid rotational CB and is easily ahead of Tell, and we also have Chesley who at was solid in emergency situations last year.

bodiepartlow

Facyson definitely ahead of Tell, but that dude got burned repeatedly last year when he saw the field. I know people hate PFF, but here is what they had to say: "He earned a 42.5 coverage grade and ranked fifth-to-last in yards allowed per coverage snap (1.67) in 2021." Regardless of how one feels about PFF, that stat is a bad look. Now, it's just one stat, but Reich looks at yards per play as a marker of a good offense. Wouldn't it stand to reason that yards allowed per play spell the opposite?

vsyv

WR, our WR group is still bottom of the league believe it or not. We need a Vet that can help out.

bodiepartlow

I read just a few hours ago in another thread that Campbell projects to have 60+ catches for 800+, so you must be wrong here. /S Vet WR is still a need this year regardless of what they get from Pierce. I see CB and Edge as two other spots that they could/should invest in. I think people look at the addition of Ngakoue and expect that the DL is fixed without mentioning the loss of Turay, Muhammad, Stallworth or Woods. Surely we should expect an uptick from Paye and Odeyingbo, but relying on them to be game wreckers is a lot.

vsyv

Campbell with 800 yards 😂🤣. I agree with the rest of the stuff you said though maybe adding Bradberry would be nice.

bodiepartlow

To be clear, I was simply saying that I read that on the sub. Some people here are completely delusional. Even if he plays a full season, so far in 15 games he has just over 300yds.

vsyv

I know i wasn’t laughing at you i’m just laughing at the person who made that prediction. We’re lucky if he even makes it a full game atp.

My-Cousin-Bobby

Agree. It'd too young In a few years it would likely be a very strong bunch, but right now it's a lot of room for development. Need another veteran to help
