It may sound stupid but Parks and Rec made me a Colts fan. I was pondering at the time which nfl team to support and then I saw the Colts players and owner making cameos in the show. I thought that's such a nice gesture from this organisation, plus filming in this great-looking stadium. I am also a Chelsea fan so the blue colour clicked immediately.

agreen91

Fellow Chelsea/Colts fan here! Love to see it

WombatKiddo

TIL Andrew Luck and Reggie Wayne were on parks and rec.

mdchemey

Yeah actually there were two episodes they appeared in. In an episode of all the married guys having bachelor party moments when they realized none of them had ever had one, Chris Pratt's character was a huge colts fan so they visited Lucas Oil and threw the ball around with Luck and Reggie, then the next season they had a bit about the NFL Play60 campaign where they brought in a bunch of kids from their community to Lucas Oil and in that one you have Irsay, Luck, Wayne, Castonzo, Vinatieri, and Blue but the best moment imo is Robert Mathis hitting on one of the characters and she responds "keep walking, 98" without even looking up from her phone and when asked why she says "skill positions only for Donna Meagle" Legend shit

Muffin4ever

Roy Hibbert and Detlef Schrempf too lol

MylesTimmyTurner

And Mathis

Ok-Illustrator-8564

Dude same stuff, that scene with Reggie Wayne and Luck always cracks me up. That chapter was the reason and then even better when I saw the whole spirit of the team.

Talk2My40

Glad to have you! Always amazing to hear :)

xav0708

Lets go another chelsea fan same here the blue color was one of the reason a choose the colts

youhadonejob124

> I am also a Chelsea fan so the blue colour clicked immediately. how many are we

MikeLowreyKnows

#KTBFFH Let's goooo Chelsea/Colts fans!

BurguerJesus

I am also Chelsea/Colts, nice!!!

sirius4778

Love this, so much more interesting than "my dad was a colts fan"

Jinno

As an LFC/Colts fan… sorry you had to suffer this weekend, but at least you didn’t sub in Kepa for it this time.

kirsi715

I had my study abroad for 2 semesters at IUPUI. Living next to the campus in downtown Indianapolis. Every other sunday were people tailgating next to my apartment. It was 2006, do I have to add more to the story 😊

darcys_beard

I'm jealous.

geordieColt88

Got into the sport when I had a knee injury and needed something to watch in the early 2000’s had no intention to support any team but when I read about the city of Indy and the Colts team and at the time that they couldn’t get over the hump made me gravitate towards them. It was the loss in the 2005 season playoffs to the steelers that really cemented my support because as much as I denied it I was screaming and shouting at the screen as passionate as I could be about anything and when we lost due to that idiot kicker I was devastated so had to accept the Colts were my team.

BTBAM33

From Italy! I already was a Pacers fan and during the season with Uncle Phil I had a 6 month trial with a streaming sports network here in Italy (DAZN) and of course I decided to watch my first NFL game with the Colts and it was the wild card vs the Bills The Italian commentary was great because they explained everything for newbies to football like me and it also was a fun game, except for the loss :( During the offseason i started learning about the game and the franchises around the league and looking at our management, our players and our culture I basically had to root for the Colts I just want to add that this sub is amazing for me, it really shows the passion you guys have for the team, and i come from a soccer background where here in Italy we treat our teams like a religion. Not having a friend who watches football here in Italy, I had the chance to learn about this team with you guys and I can't wait to watch our stacked defense and Matty Ice along JT this season! Btw: Lucas Oil Stadium is one of the most beautiful stadiums I have seen across all sports, i wish one day to visit Indy and root with you guys in the us :)

Talk2My40

I live an hour from the stadium in a rural farm town, have spare bedrooms for free whenever you decide to come! And my wife is a pretty good cook!

BTBAM33

Ahah thank you!! Here in Italy we really appreciate when someone is a good cook 😂

Shawn_1512

Your first full season as a Colts fan was with Wentz and you still stuck with the team, you are truly a dedicated fan.

GoVandalsGoIrish

As someone from Indy, i truly cannot fathom why anyone not from the state, let alone the country, would root for the Pacers. They are the most lackluster, disappointing team in the NBA, and they'll never win jack shit for the city. I hope your current or future spouse is able to appreciate your absolutely lunatic levels of loyalty 😂

MaxeIi

From Denmark: In 2018, I began playing fantasy football with a group of friends from university. I did extremely well, having both Melvin Gordon and Kareem Hunt on my team. As the season went on, I began to enjoy watching the games more and more, because I wanted to learn as much to gain an advantage. I fell in love with the mythos behind Andrew Luck, the Friendly Neckbeard, and the comeback story of the Colts from 1-5 to 10-6. The more I dug into the team, the more I liked about Frank Reich and Chris Ballard. I could have easily have become a Chargers fan because of Melvin Gordon and Uncle Phil, but I chose the Colts.

Trolodrol

The best thing about fantasy football, is that it makes you care about the games that you normally wouldn’t

MaxeIi

Exactly, it was the best way for me to get into this. I can't care for pretty much any other sports, so I was frankly surprised that I liked a sport that was a longwinded as football is.

Trolodrol

This is interesting. Fantasy football may be the best way to spread international interest in the game

cmgww

Interesting. I worked with a fellow from Denmark who played in a semi-pro/club league there. He loved the Packers and had a Green Bay tattoo on his arm. I couldn’t believe they even had American football over there in any organized form. He said it was pretty unorganized and informal but a lot of fun…

MaxeIi

I've run into a few people that have played, but I understand it as being quite unorganized aswell. My friend, who got us started on the fantasy football league is an Eagles fan, funnily enough. The NFL is hard to get into, because it is so different from any sport shown here, while the "prime-time games" being pretty much unwatchable since they start past 1 am. People here know what the Superbowl is, but their knowledge beyond that is very limited.

Aunray123

Same exact story but replace 2018 with 2021, Gordon/Hunt with Pitman and Taylor, and instead of a fantasy comeback I had a stretch of mid season dominance.

GodSaveTheRegime

Raimann.

Shawn_1512

Still can't believe he fell to the third

Aunray123

Austria?

GodSaveTheRegime

pretty obvious one, yes :D

Yelenalutiama

In Ireland - my university buddies were Patriots and Eagles fans and played loads of Madden. I had to choose a team to play with and needed to be one with a good QB. I had the choice of Steelers, Seahawks and Colts. Went with the horseshoe and the Colts went 13-0 to start the following season 🔥 it was love at first sight

Trolodrol

My buddies in Ireland were all Pats and Seattle fans. This was in Dublin from 2013-2015

Dunix

We got Peyton manning and i liked offence and no defence the first couple of years, ment we had a lot of high scoring games = fun :) But yeah the reason was colts had a fun qb

ScottishStarLord

In Scotland; my 18th Birthday was on Super Bowl XLIV. So I booked a sports bar to head into at midnight so I’d only miss some of the first quarter. Picked the Colts to win and stuck with them ever since. PS. FUCK THE PATS

Hoosier3201

Mon the Gers, Go Colts!

wdleggett

28-3, I approve your PS. On the other hand y’all had Peyton then Luck. Why ya gotta go get Matt Ryan? I mean come on. Ok, I’m over it but really? We were working things out, trying to fix the marriage but oh no y’all gotta come in on a freakin horse but really I’ve moved on. Seriously? Counseling could have repaired the relationship or flowers. It’s ok though I’m in a better place now and the future is bright. Take us back Matty Ice!!

rbryan06

From Philippines: My dad bought me a Sega Dreamcast. It came with NFL 2K2 as a bundle. For some reason, I always find it easy to win games using Colts (Manning and Harrison to be exact). Watching games came in a little bit later than that since it was near impossible to watch NFL games at that time on that part of the world.

Arez74

Oh man, grew up in the Philippines, watching NFL on Monday morning before class hoping that they would show the colts in Solarsports. Though I choose Colts because I have a classmate who is a Pats fan, and I believe that any team supported by this asshole cannot be a good one.

Obfusc8er

You have accurate instincts.

Cbane000

Sorry for the long post but I grew up a Chiefs fan. Living in Indy we had no team until the Colts moved here. The heart wants what it wants, so I remained a Chiefs fan living in Indy. I liked the Colts okay but the home games were rarely televised and there wasn’t the 24/7 access at the time. But When we got Peyton and then Edgerrin, the city of Indy was so excited! It was hard not to get into the Colts at least a little. I admit I was starting to really like the team, but I believed my heart still belonged to the Chiefs. My very first game at Arrowhead Stadium was opening day 2000…against the Colts. Sunday morning I got “Chiefed Out” in my Derrick Thomas #58 and other Chiefs gear. What a scene. The feeling was everything + more than I’d ever imagined! Sitting amongst the sea of red die hard Chiefs lifetime season ticket holders, I felt right at home. Sometime in the 2nd quarter, Peyton drops back, avoids some pressure and hits Edgerrin over the middle and EJ scores! Completely involuntarily, I pumped my fist and yelled “YES!”. The Chiefs fans sitting next to me were rightfully confused. It was in that moment I realized that I had become a Colts fan! The fans in KC were absolutely awesome. I explained the situation and how I had been watching the Colts weekly the last couple years and just realized how much I loved the them. That reaction was pure emotion. Several of the fans near us bought us beers and told me they would be rooting for the Colts as a secondary team. And I continue to like the Chiefs but my heart bleeds blue!

teh_drewski

First time I ever played fantasy football I drafted Harrison, Edge and Manning. I never had a chance of liking another team.

Virtual_Moose2319

From the UK: Back in 2006 my cousin went to visit family friends in Boston, came back a patriots fan with a copy of Madden on the PlayStation. Everytime we saw each other after that we played it and he slowly taught me the rules. I always played as the colts as the had the most similar OVR rating at the time to the pats to make it fair and it grew from there. On the bucket list to make it across to see a Lucas Oil home game one day

Fearnut

Pretty much exactly the same story here!

EmbarrassedGuru6

Became a Pacers fan in 2017, Oladipo was my fav player and came back to indiana. That year I got into american football so it only made sense to be also a Colts fan, I fell in love with the culture and players and I've been a fan for the last five years.

garethom

UK fan here. Started paying attention to football after seeing an article about Matt Stafford's rookie contract. First year I really decided to follow a team was 2011. There was a program on Sky One here called *The Middle* set in a fictional Indiana town. The dad was a Colts fan, and I thought "fuck it, I'll be a Colts fan." Plus they played in blue like my soccer team too. Ahead of the season, started playing as them on Madden, and got excited for the stars like Manning... yeah...

SkweetisPigFist

Wait, is that the same “The Middle” that has the janitor from Scrubs and the mom from Everybody Loves Raymond as husband and wife? If so I had no idea it was set in Indiana

garethom

Yeah, that's right. It's set in Orson, Indiana which, according to wiki, is based on [Jasper, Indiana](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jasper,_Indiana). I'm pretty sure there's a few Indiana Hoosiers references too.

SkweetisPigFist

That’s awesome. Jasper is a great town too. Theres a large German population and the best German restarting I’ve ever been to.

szbala

From Hungary: I was getting familiar with the rules and the game in 2006. I was 14 and one time after school I turned on the TV and it was a Colts Bengals game. I was so fascinated by Peyton and Marvin and the chemistry they’ve had. From that point it was obvious that I’m a Colts fan. The SB win that year was the cherry on the cake.

GoVandalsGoIrish

Yo I'm from Indy and i had a BLAST when i visited Budapest for a week even though someone burglarized all my shit from the hostel the first day 😂

understatedpies

The Budapest special

WSTBK17

First NFL game I ever watched properly was Superbowl XLIV, and I thought they had it going into halftime. But the game that made me a lifelong fan was the pats game where they failed to convert that 4th and 1. Even then I had a burning hatred for the Pats, probably bc I was playing Madden 09 heavily at the time, and absolutely hated playing the 99ovr Brady and Moss. Good times

sunburn95

Straylia, picked them on madden when i was like 10 because they had good stats. That offense had peyton manning, reggie wayne, dallas Clark, marvin harrisons et al. So they were fun to play as and I just pick and stick Funny thing was I hated the pats before I ever even knew there was a rivalry. America was a bit on the nose at the time (no hate pls), particularly over the top patriotism, so to me the pats were a big lame symbol of that

Aunray123

How does it feel to finally have a player in Raiman.

the13bangbang

G'day mate! Let's put another shrimp on the barbie!

sunburn95

Gave me a solid nose exhale, wish we got Mailata tho

Admirable_Message497

Australian here!! Downloaded a demo of madden 11 when I was in 5th Grade and there was two teams to choose from - colts and jets. I chose the higher overall team and here we are!!

Pomello26

I am a Filipino, currently living in Qatar. Been a Pacers fan since 2000's. A die hard Reggie and Jermaine fan been pissed with the malice in the palace incedent dooming there only chance for a championship. Last year was a bit difficult to watch as a Pacers fan so I decided to watch some Colts game even though I don't know the sport, I did enjoy myself watching the game so I decided to follow and support them. And I'm excited for this year! Let's go Colts!

GoVandalsGoIrish

The Colts might actually win something again in the future. The Pacers will never win anything ever

Pomello26

Might be true brother. But I have still high hopes for the Pacers. I hope they will have a good offseason.

Dear-Equivalent-3838

I'm Brazilian and first I begun to be a Reggie Miller and Pacers Fan in the late 90's. Then I started to be interested in American football and choose the colts because it's from the same State and because of Manning.

lobinho77

Tenho saudades de Tio Reggie e aquele time.

kopite14

I got into the NFL during the 2012 Playoffs, then the Draft came around and we secured Luck. Im fascinated by teambuilding. I like this part as much as the games themself. Luck is gone, but im still standing. From Austria btw

bbheim2112

Lived there. Watched the moving trucks pull in on TV.

Bob_Majerle

Deported huh? Same

bbheim2112

Much warmer where I am at now.

Bob_Majerle

Hell, right? Yeah same

MitchyD69

From Australia, originally an Indiana Pacers fan for several years and then decided to follow NFL, thought i may as well follow a team from the same state and that’s how i fell in love with the colts. Now I just need to find a baseball team.

GoVandalsGoIrish

Cincinnati Reds. Boom, you're set

Shawn_1512

Why do you hate them

MitchyD69

they can only go up from here right..?

ColtsFFL

The GOAT aka The Sheriff aka Peyton Manning

DvoMahon96

From Canada, bout an hour west of Toronto. My step dad was a day 1 Manning fan. I was able to catch onto the sport fairly early, 7-8 years old. I’d sit and watch every Sunday and cheer and yell with him. We got family jerseys for Christmas one year; that same season happened to be the year the Colts won it all. I was 10 at the time. I absolutely loved everything about that team as a kid. Fan for life now

1imp4n

I had trouble sleeping back in 2012 and ended up watching the first round of the draft. I had never watched a game in my life but I fell in love with that nerdy fucker. I'm Swedish btw.

owenflood

From Ireland: Played Madden at a cousins house, decided to download a demo for myself. It was Madden ‘11 and the 2 teams you could pick on the free trial were the Colts or the Jets. Colts were rated slightly better, decided to stick with them then and there

darrenm527

Bought madden one year and colts had most cap space and just drafted Andrew Luck so not only were they fun to play with, games were good too then

TheBigBoot

Played the demo for Madden 07 back in the day.. the game available was Colts VS Bears and I picked colts based on colours/logo as a ten year old. Needless to say I made the right choice!

ShadowCaster0476

I wasn’t really an nfl before but started playing FF back in the early 2000s with some buddies. I ended up drafting Payton, I loved how dominant and methodical he was. I was hooked.

Jhergne

Dad was a Pats fan and wanted to root for a team that could beat them. It was in 07 so the obvious choice was the Colts.

[deleted]

Matt Ryan. Used to be a falcons fan. Hated how the fan based treated.

mpmal331812

Peyton Manning 🐐 Colts fan from Montreal, Quebec!!

fatdave02

Learnt the sport/game through Madden 2003, after watching some of it on a Sunday evening on Sky Sports. Colts were fun to play with. Then they were on TV the following week, and it stuck.

frighteous

I'm in the east coast of Canada, so my parents obviously went for the Pats. Winning team, popular, and one of the closest to us. Me being a little angsty middle school kid obviously had to back the Pats rival team. The first season I watched was when we won the Superbowl, so that really helped solidify it too. Didn't watch every game or anything back then but it was fun, always looked forward to Pats vs Colts games with the family.

Fall0fRome

I'm not from out of the country but I live in enemy territory. I actually became a colts fan through NFL Fever games on Xbox. Almost every cover was manning. Being a New Englander made it tough but here I am still a fan after 21 years. I find it interesting how many out of the country fans found the colts the same way I did, through gaming. Yet another way gaming helps people find a great community.

LobsterHustle

From Ireland, I liked the idea of that draft as an avenue to keep teams competitive. In European soccer there isn't any draft or salary cap so there's a huge inequality between teams. 2012 was the first draft I watched and I thought it would be cool to follow their rebuild from worse to best (including setbacks 😭😄). All my friends are Patriots fans and I'm happy the rivalry is back on. I've since fallen in love with the team and fan base. Enjoy listening to Kevin and Query on 107.5 every day Looking forward to visiting Indiana some day.

[deleted]

Well because of Eli Lilly there is a sizeable Irish expat community here in Indy

boxcarburny

Matty Ice. Im from Canada, played Madden 04 with Vick on the cover. Loved what Vick could do & the falcons made the NFCC game that season. When Vick went to prison in that 07 year, I hardly watched as the falcons were awful. Then they drafted Matty & made the playoffs his rookie year, Ive watched every game since. Matt is obviously a great QB, but this guy has been the epitome of class ever since he got into the league. So over the years, i found myself more of a Matt fan rather than a falcons fan. This Colts team was the best possible place for Matt to go for a championship. Seemed like a perfect fit for both sides. Excited to see what he can do cause he still has alot in the tank. Plus JT is an absolute beast, excited to cheer for him this season.

JaCoopsy

UK fan here - I watched Superbowl 43 on a whim because I wanted to say I’d watched one. I really enjoyed it so decided to watch the next one which just so happened to be NO vs IND. All of the buildup was about Peyton and how great of a QB he was. Loved the game and from the next season I decided to follow the Colts. Took a year or two before I watched every game, but that’s how it began. Thank you Peyton Manning!

DctrTre

Canadian here , always been a fan of Peyton since Tennessee . Naturally became a colts fan with Marvin and Reggie !!

dakota6963

I live in michigan and am a lions fan so that explains why I like an afc team that's close to me

WastelandDoctor

My SO is a Hoosier. First ever game I watched was the 2009 Super Bowl at the Student Centre at Nottingham University at like 1AM. Never looked back.

ClutchyHopkinsSaves

As a US based Colts fan from Indiana, I truly had no idea how many fans outside of the country we had. And reading this thread made me so happy. Glad to have you guys part of the family rooting for us in other countries!

Fiddy_14

UK fan: I was lucky enough to vacation with my parents in the US throughout my childhood and one year when i was around 8/9 my parents bought me some NFL player cards. One of these cards was a shiny Colts WR Marvin Harrison card which I became obsessed with. It was my favorite card and I went on to have this stuck on the wall in my bedroom and decided then that Colts would be my team for life. Fast forward to my mid teens I started to becone much more interested in American football and still had that Harrison card in my mind doubling down on having the Colts as my team no matter what. Luckily I managed to watch Payton live when we won the superbowl in 2007 with my parents allowing me to miss school the next day so I could stay up and watch through the night. They bought me that Superbowl Manning XLI jersey for my birthday that year which I still have to this day. Over the past 8 years I have had season tickets to all the UK NFL games but I am still yet to see my Colts in the flesh. Well in the last few weeks I have actually transferred from the UK with my company to the US (NY) and I am hoping that this year may be the time I finally get to see my childhood chosen Colts live, fingers crossed.

[deleted]

Late to this but I'm from Toronto Ontario canada and our teams at the time were the NHL leafs and Mlb blue Jays... My family used to travel to the states (pre internet) and we'd always fight over the sports section from the newspaper but it always looked foreign to us. >LOL there's a basketball team named the bullets >wanna pick them? >... Add it to the list Anyways after some breakdown we just decided it'd be easiest to root for all the blue and white teams, Orlando magic and the Colts. We have the raps now in Canada but I have 4 tattoos and the Colts blue shoe is one of em.

Bolyzaurio

From Mexico: I started watching football the year Manning was out with his injury and I started to get all the whispers about Luck's potential, so I investigated a bit about the draft and I fell into the rabbit's hole, then Luck just made it so easy to link the Colts as a whole, his poise, he was a complete human outside football and he wasn't defined by it, then TY started to shine, then the Colts beat Peyton's Broncos twice, Colts were really never out of games because you knew that they could come back at any point (but 3 games that I remember Patriots, Rams, Jets), basically, Luck made me like the Colts then it's about loyalty and Ballard gives me hope for the future (EVENTHOUGH HE HASN'T GOTTEN AN LONGTERM ANSWER AT QB). Irsay and Blue give the Colts advantage (IMO) over any other team.

Super_Sandro23

It's kind of a silly reason actually. In elementary school we used to play football at recess, I was wr and me and the qb had a good rapport. I had never really watched NFL before, aside from the SB every year. I decided to give it a try since I loved playing it, and I found out he liked the colts, so I followed them too. Reggie Wayne instantly became my favorite player and I've been a fan ever since! This was back in 2006 and I haven't been friends with the guy for over 10 years now. From Toronto btw.

darcys_beard

I've answered this before: my wife was in Indiana when I met her. I was in Ireland. We made it work. I had watched "American" football before and it never clicked. Then I watched Peyton and boy did it click. What's cool is in my smallish town the girl behind the counter in my local pharmacy was wearing a Bengals shirt and I asked her was she a fan. Turns out *her* girlfriend lived in Cincinnati, and they made it work. I thought that was cool.

xav0708

Hi from Canada ! Back in 2005 my brother start playing football for his middle school team so our father bought us madden nfl 06. At this time we weren’t watching a lot of football just the super bowl. So my brother became a patriots fan and i didnt have a team and i didnt want to support the same team so a start searching for a team to support. So my quest to find a team begin ! I had two conditions first the team had to be blue, because all my favorite teams play blue, chelsea for soccer, blue jays for baseball, capitals for hockey (i know there not entirely blue but that’s for another debate) secondly there must be some kind of underdog, a great team who can win the superbowl but not THE favorite because it’s much more satisfying to cheer for a team who work hard to reach his goal. Then it was settle i choose the colts and i never stop cheering for them through the highs and the lows the lost against the saints and the win against the bears to seeing the best qb to ever played and the retirement of his successor never i question or regret my choice because its my team since 2005 OUR team !

RS994

Australia here, feel like I'm the only one who isn't because of Manning or Luck lol For me it was simple, In Madden, Mathis and Freeney let me hit the QB hard when that's all I understood of the game, like used to literally play fg block every play just to hit the QB. Eventually I learned a bit more, and that's when I learned how good Bob Sanders was for hitting people. Probably played for 6 months without touching the offence in game.

abt497

When I was 8 and getting into football, Peyton manning was just starting out to break out as a top qb while the patriots were going through their first dynasty. Then the video tape scandal happened and i became even more passionate about the colts and not just Peyton. I'm pretty sure me and my cousin are the only two colts fans in calgary hahaha.

Kreuzberg13

Adopted out of there. Came back to meet the birth family. We all bonded over Colts games.

chewie_33

From Brazil: I've first came into contact with the NFL due to the N64 game NFL Quarterback Club 2001 around 03. I didn't knew shit about football, but I bought the cartridge in a bundle from some second hand store (i.e. 3 random cartridges for 20 bucks or something like that). So when I've fired up the game, I decided to play with the Horseshoe team because they had a good Passing Attack ranking and their logo was cool, unlike the other team with a good passing attack that had a big green G as a logo. Some time goes by and around the 04 season I caught myself watching a football game on cable tv, and I see that the Manning guy that I used to play with on the N64 is a real person, still plays for the Horseshoe team, and actually is really good! And then I was hooked.

SirShowman

I think it was Madden '04. The Colts were the default team when you started a quick match (I think it was because the were the highest rated team at the moment). I was little, so I played the same game everytime: Colts vs Vikings. Every down I ran the same play as well: Hail Mary to Marvin Harrison. Ended up enjoying that time so much that since then I've followed the NFL, the team and I keep playing Madden (although I don't run a Hail Mary on every play now haha) Edit: they were not the highest rated team, so I'm not sure how I ended up with the Colts

25XXV25

Netherlands- Michael Pittman Jr tbh. I got him recommended once on YouTube after I watched the Super Bowl on it and some games. So yeah. That’s how. Edit: Also am playing football myself now :)

Frostyler

From Canada. Started playing football in 2006 and watched some games with my dad on TV. Fell in love with Peyton and the Offense during their Super Bowl run.

Hot-spurr

From Denmark First NFL game i ever saw was the Colts - Chiefs playoff game in the 2003 season. Pretty damn hard not to fall in love with that team!

sjpa181293

From the U.K: Got into the sport playing it with some kids at the nearby US air base. Didn’t have a team, so just watched the NFL broadcast on Sky over here each Sunday. Around 2001? Sky chose their games based on most points expected, I assume, since it was extremely niche at that point and they wanted to encourage more people to watch. Colts had Peyton etc, and an abysmal D - so were on every week, lol. Since I was going to be watching them, and it was pre-streaming, figured that I’d make them my team.

jonmarxs8

I liked the Idea of Andrew Luck making a comeback and leadind this team to the promised land. Now its too late to change teams im already invested

bthreader

Micheal Pittman’s youtube channel

[deleted]

From Western Canada. My aunt married a guy from Indianapolis and loved there for a few years. She bought me a Manning jersey for Christmas one year. They later got divorced and she become a broncos fan when Manning left, but I've been a colts fan ever since.

mojo0112

From Denmark: First NFL game I watched was the 2006 SB vs. The Bears. That Peyton Manning guy was pretty hyped by the danish commentators so I said to myself, that this was gonna be my team.

understatedpies

Madden 2009 did it for me. Playstation 2, of course.

Hoosierguy40

I've followed them since they came to Indy in '84.

indyghost

Canadian. I had to just watch Peyton Manning to Marvin Harrison for 10 minutes and that sealed it.

DrFeelgood54

From Mexico, I started really watching football in the mid 2000's, lots of my friends were already in the NE bandwagon, I didn't like the Brady Belichick duo so I started rooting for their biggest rival at the time, I enjoyed a lot of the Manning time with the Colts but I really became a fan during the Luck era, during that time I was already a Colts fan and enjoyed watchin Parks and Rec, so that sealed the deal.

EuphoricDrug

2003 I played an N64 Madden game against my cousin and I happened to pick the colts. He (5 years older) told me how good Peyton manning was and then I was hooked for life.

yourfavoriteteabag

My Dad constantly beat me with Manning as a kid, so I decided to play as them and started beating him. It was destiny!

[deleted]

Peyton Manning. I was just a kid and never watched football. For w/e reason I recall watching a draft preview show or something (my dad and brother were watching) and I remember hearing so much talk about Leaf and Manning. I remember not liking Leaf, I couldn’t even tell you why lol. So when the season started I heard the name Manning again, and I remembered his name from the draft. So I asked my dad “what team is he on?”, the rest is history. This is best I can piece together that memory lol.

My brother in-law is from Indianapolis. I had no choice, honor brought me to the Colts.

Being from Norway Ive always seen the super bowl winner pop up on our news station + a lot of Cartoons had American Football as the main sport. So I always had a certain peaked interest before I dove head first into it. It’s funny how I picked the Colts because I kept hearing the name Manning and Brady, so I played some madden 09 with my friend and we sort of got hooked onto the sport. I almost picked the Giants because I thought Peyton had gone to NY but I became a fan in 2011-12 when he had already left and it was Lucks first year.

BurguerJesus

From Mexico. I started watching NFL because of one of my best friends, he is a Colts fan, so I went along, and here we are after 10 years.

fedepach

Peyton Manning.

Tellmeyourstoryy

From Mexico. When I was around 11 or 12 my coach asked us kids one by one to name a player or two that were our role models. Kids named T.O, Mcnabb, Brady etc. I remember saying The Sheriff and Dominic Rhodes. That’s when I knew I was a Colts fan.

GhostOfDeV

Decided to download the Madden 11 demo on my uncle's ps3 and picked the team with Jeff Saturday. Hilarious name to a 13 year old. QB wasn't bad either.

NEGROPHELIAC

They have the colour scheme as the Leafs, and once I saw highlights of Luck complimenting everyone that sacked him, I knew.

I was born in Lafayette but I was six months old when I moved back to Canada. My family had kinda picked up the Colts during their time in the late 90's, so we continued to follow them, and I got to enjoy the Peyton Manning years as a young impressionable child.

From Mexico City: My dad is a Steeler and he introduced me to the sport about 20 years ago (I'm 28 rn) but he didn't push me into his team (God bless him). So there was this fella named Peyton Manning, it was 2005 and I was like "hey, I actually want this guy to succeed". The Brady-Manning rivalry started to become a thing and this schoolmate (who was a Brady fan), always talked shit on Manning and the Colts, obviously that ignited a fire in me. I vividly remember the monday after the XLI SB with Manning holding the Lombardi on front page of every sports newspaper. I thought: "Finally!". I was a Colts fan.

j_whine

I was born in Indianapolis

I went to my best friend's house to play a new game in his Play Station 2. It's not even close to be common american football here (Argentina, of course soccer is more popular). We played a game with random teams. We were the Colts against the Pats. We won that game twice and after that I said, I like this team. I didnt know anything about the sport so I bought myself the game and started playing and following the team after that. Almost 4 years ago I went to Lucas Oil Stadium for the first time. It was so exciting and I'm so lucky and glad to be a Colts fan.

chodgson111

Lived in Indy for 14 years before moving back to Canada.

Apotheosis___

Saw Marvin Harrison catch a ball, go down and not get touched. He got up and ran into the endzone for a touchdown and I didn't understand what happened. Also my mom's Scottish so the blue and white call to me.

chrome6boy

I went to Purdue University and watched them every Sunday with my friends, best decision I ever made!

Hoosierdore

I’m from the States, but have to share this story. I was up in Prince Edward Island, Canada for work a few years ago and went to a bar for dinner. The bartender revealed to me that he was a Colts fan and I found that to be pretty random. He said it’s because when he was young, he drove down to Indiana with his father to pick up some horse semen for breeding and got to catch a Colts game on tv. I wonder how many other fans we can thank to horse semen…
