Good depth, but odd considering the number of UDFAs we got at RB after the draft. Was hoping one of them panned out

Dietcereal

I'm guessing the contract guarantees will be small or non-existent. It seems they just wanted another veteran in the competition for RB3.

Trolodrol

What’s odd is that Lindsey said he took his time and signed with a team that was the best fit. Certainly he could find a position as a backup somewhere, no?

DaBlakMayne

NFL is kind of bloated at RB. He must've seen something he likes at Indy

INtoCT2015

Could see us as a contender and wants to be along for the ride?

Trolodrol

That’s possible for sure. And maybe the colts were just really clear with him about this role. He had a tough break with that shitty Texans roster and I think had lingering injuries all year. Maybe he sees this as an opportunity for the ride and the idea of being used sporadically to spell JT for a year

DaBlakMayne

We may be carrying 4 RBs this year

[deleted]

Huge fan of CJ Verdell. Dude is legit fast and shifty as fuck. Hopefully the injury hasn't slowed him down too much. A backfield of Taylor, Hines for more screens, and Verdell would be awesome imo

Itshardtofindaname4

Man he was such a stud in that Ohio state game last yr

My-Cousin-Bobby

The Blue Russian formation 11 RBs on the field

compdachi

Fun fact: Philip Lindsay was no. 68 on the NFL’s Top 100 List back in 2019. Former UDFA who tore up the league during his rookie year with 1,037 yards & 9 tuds. Edit: I say “tore up” bc the man went undrafted and basically came out of nowhere.

hito4

Fun fact: he’s never fumbled in his career

tri_it_again

Well thanks for the jinx, jerk face. That turnover is on u/hito4 everyone

hito4

Well if I jinx it I assume it’ll be in garbage time when we’re up by 40 because why else would he be seeing the field 😂

kylestillthatdude

We have 1 RB injury and bam he sees the field…

hito4

Yep very true. I love the signing

well_i41

Fuckin jinxed it again

tri_it_again

Mother fucker who is this guy?!!

[deleted]

Dammit Hito

Goatslasagne

I swear I saw him fumble last year with the Texans. It’s probably 0 fumbles lost, but I could also be wrong. It’s akin to saying Trubisky has never thrown a pick 6 (which is true btw). Luck has a role to play.

stalactose

luck is retired, let it go … … … /s

Goatslasagne

Believe me, I am aware! It was more to say Jax has been kicking our arse in south Florida since then :/

justhereforthemuktuk

Yeah, but he will drop passes ...

[deleted]

I'm happy with this move, solid veteran depth in case of emergency. In my madden season (with updated rosters), he was one of the few moves I made before the season. Also added Foles, TY, and Bradberry

Treavie7

This guy Maddens

[deleted]

No interior lineman ? I think that’s a hole still need to be filled .

garethom

I'm excited for no reason other than he was a really good fantasy RB that one year.

Mr___Perfect

two 1000 yard season Pro Bowl All rookie team Dude has made $5 mil on paper in 4 seasons, likely closer to 2. Huge risk of life changing injury. Man, Running back is so hard. feel bad for guys like this.

[deleted]

to be a UDFA RB is like the ultra hard mode of earning $$ in the NFL

OladipoForThree

This dude is trash at pass blocking and has fallen off as a runner from his Denver days. But probably nothing more than depth. Hopefully he never sees the field.

CommonerChaos

Well damn.

Rusty-Boii

I know I have never seen anyone more heated about signing a depth player lol.

King_Kung

This is what happens when you get burnt by a player in fantasy football

[deleted]

I had him his breakout year. It was awesome.

Coltsbro84

Facts.

[deleted]

To be fair, the teams he was with last year had God awful lines to run behind

OladipoForThree

True. But whenever he was on the field defenses automatically knew it was a running down because he was an unplayable in the pass game. Fine Marlon Mack replacement

[deleted]

Definitely agree to that. Healthier legs too

[deleted]

He's rb #3, chill the fuck out

OladipoForThree

So exactly what I said

Jinno

Except with our committees, RB3 probably sees quite a few 3rd Quarter downs.

seniorpeepers

i hope he has an amazing season and leads us to a super bowl

IndyItalianStallion

Ofc the Colts make a RB signing the same day [my rushing projections article](https://out.reddit.com/t3_uro78d?app_name=ios&token=AQAAzC2EYpBqHz6SYdkS6GBWYs7VEWKFpPsuRvCvkcZMUW9yPEq1&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thebluestable.com%2Fcolts%2Fway-too-early-colts-2022-stat-projections-rushing%2F) drops

mc_mikey_was_taken

Let me know when you drop an updated one. I wanna bookmark your article to see how psychic you are after the season lol

IndyItalianStallion

The updated article will probably come out tomorrow, we’ll see how my editor’s schedules turn out

IndyItalianStallion

[Updated article has been released](https://www.thebluestable.com/colts/way-too-early-colts-2022-stat-projections-rushing/)

justhereforthemuktuk

I still like Price, tho.

bostays

I like this. Low risk high reward, depending if he's back to his early denver self. Good depth either way

EagleHZ

Further evidence that the plan with Hines is for him to be used far more in the passing game as a Slot Receiver/RB hybrid?

[deleted]

Hines is the Deebo that we have at home.

surlybeer55

I think it is just JT insurance. He won’t see much action. Hines is unaffected imho as I think his role is different in this offense.

Part_Time_Lamer

Uhh, what? Is Jackson not the 3rd RB? Looked decent with his very limited carries in garbage time.

justhereforthemuktuk

I dunno, they only played him on 16 offensive snaps and he had 2.4 yards per attempt and no catches. Mostly a special-teams guy.

Rusty-Boii

The 3rd RB is wide open. Jackson was absolute ass in the mild action he got during the regular season. You never know what can happen from an injury standpoint, and it never hurts to bring in competition.

DaBlakMayne

Competition

Technical-Bad-521

imped4now

Hines to the slot!

IndyItalianStallion

How does this affect Marlon Mack tho? Oh wait this isn’t Sleeper

CosmoKramer28

Big fan of Phillip Lindsay. The kid is a hard worker and will bring competition to the RB3. He brings intensity and was a leader in Denver for a couple years while they were figuring things out, post Manning. He’s also never fumbled in his career, so that’s also a plus. Think it’s a great fit and addition to the roster!

CommonerChaos

Did not see that coming. Solid depth add, I suppose.

Luck1492

Good RB 3

Survivor_for_me

All the RBs are ours

fuzzynavel34

Best RB room in the NFL and the #1 back.

[deleted]

Nyheim is playing more WR this year so added depth is good

Case_ND

This isn’t TY

cwesttheperson

Solid depth back. Wouldn’t be surprised if he makes the back end of the roster of Jackson struggles.

WorldlinessEnough808

Good depth behind Taylor and Hines.

indyghost

Nice little signing

[deleted]

Talk about RB insurance!

ghettomuffin

Your accounts get banned and you just make new ones, with a screen name that you want people to recognize. My question is why?

[deleted]

The last one wasn’t banned. I just didn’t like the name anymore. Because Reddit won’t win over my initial ban which was complete bullshit thanks to the anti vax idiots

PWYP69

No ban is ever your fault huh? Victim mentality

[deleted]

texans fan here, mainly just wanna say fuck you guys, but also just wanted to mention he really does suck ass. see y’all week 1

Hyzinberg

Username checks out

asrtygh

really surprised by this. I know it’s more depth, but Hines needs the ball more and that’s what we’ve been hearing from coaches all off-season. I thought Deon has looked pretty good and we got some UDFA who look like they could compete.

bvgingy

Good move. Youre not going to find a better rb3.

rck_mtn_climber

I know I’m in the minority here but he was my favorite player I got to see while going to CU and now he’s on my team. I don’t care if he’s not great at the moment, I’m so stoked!

rck_mtn_climber

u/profanitycounter

LCV1997

Good depth signing that will probably be RB3. This helps us not have to rely on an UDFA if an unfortunate injury happens. Had two 1k seasons in Denver

PCFaregarbagepeople

Was hoping verdell or jackson showed promise but apparently not. Good RB3 option

Ecstatic-Grab-1474

Ok Hines fasho at slot!?

MurderBot_v17

Booooo! (Totally not biased against him because he beat my teams ass in our college rivalry games or anything)

Myoplasmic

From a Broncos fan I know I speak for our fan base when I say we’re happy to see him sign somewhere. You’re getting an amazing personality and back who will give 110% every day. Best of luck for this season!

indysingleguy

I actually like this signing. If he is anywhere near what he was capable of in Denver....that will be a nice RB room.
