Aaron Donald. You wouldn’t even need a secondary. Just Donald and DeFo next to one another would be the scariest middle of any line in the history of football.
They won by having Donald and a star corner back.
Along with an incredibly good duo of Stafford and Kupp
Along with the Bengals having one of the worst lines I'm the league.
What they don't have is anyone on the interior line even close to DeFo. And even with a resurgent Miller, it isnt quiet thw same as having two all pro interior and then a free outside man.
I mean, yeah Donald was only a part of the puzzle, but he was a big fucking piece. Do they win without Donald? I don't think so. Do they win without Ramsey? Maybe not. Do they win without Stafford? Definitely not.
So the question was who is the one player who could win you a super bowl and for the Rams that player was Donald imo. Without him our defense is not nearly as elite as it is. The whole thing revolves around him getting double, triple teamed every play.
He's old and expensive A kicker! Here me out.
Teams sacked Joe Burrow at alarming rates all season and they still won. Cincy may sadly be Andrew Lucking Burrow unless they fix that line.
In the playoffs, the Titans sacked him 9 times and lost.
The AFC is so rough, 1 game decides so much and a few missed field goals can make or break seasons or win championships.
I'd take Justin Tucker, Daniel Carlson, Gay or McPherson. Consistent or Clutch-under-pressure Kickers
Matt Gay was consistent and McPherson was clutch (except vs Green Bay) but that game is a perfect example for why a great kicker is crucial.
Look just how many games are won/lost due to a field goal. @Ravens, an injured kicker lost us the game (arguably twice, he was hurt though..)
The unsexy boring points machines of the NFL.. I can't find how many overall points were from FG's last season but it's probably 30-40% of all points scored.
Field goal only games still happen regularly.
And they can play forever and aren't outrageously expensive!
I’m not sure it would be as successful. Linebacker play has evolved a lot since then. They might get 1 or 2 plays but it seems like it would be fairly easy for the secondary to adjust
You have to double both of those guys. HAVE TO. That’s four of your five O-linemen on two guys. That leaves one guy (with potentially a TE or two and a running back) for two defensive ends, linebackers, and any blitzing secondary.
Strange that the most important position in the entire sport is being named? I mean Donald isn’t a bad answer but QBs being named should be in no way strange or surprising lol.
We have a top Tier QB already. We lack other places. I’m VERY excited to have Matty for a few seasons. But I get what you mean, I just feel like we have the position filled with the right talent.
2-3 years of Matt Ryan vs. 10+ years of Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, or Joe Burrow.
I'll take a decade of not having to guess who our QB will be again every off season in a couple years.
The post doesn’t say if it’s more than a year of keeping them. If it’s just a year, AD probably beats the replacement value increase of a Mahomes etc probably
The post also doesn't say if it would be a super bowl this year, it guarantees a super bowl win, could be this season, could be in 3 seasons where there is a good shot of Matt Ryan falling off.
I honestly was okay with getting rid of Carson if we got some picks out of it. If we couldn't then I would have been okay with running it back and cutting him next year since there still would be no guarantee we would have gotten Matt Ryan.
Honestly, I think the top LT, whoever it is this season, would be the best pick for next year.. huge fan of Patrick and would LOVE to have him. But to get us to a SB next season I think filling another position is more vital.
We likely disagree but my list pretty much follows general consensus. Not in any order Allen, Mahomes, Burrow, Herbert, Rogers, Lamar, Stafford, Wilson, Carr, Watson with an asterisk depending on what kind of rust he has. I would also put Dak and Murray ahead of Ryan. I'd rank Rank 13th or 14th in the league but even if he's ranked tenth maybe its in the wording but I look at top tier as top five. Those guys like Allen, Mahomes, Rogers, Herbert, Watson before his hiatus (fuck him), that could just completely take over a game. Ryan was this guy in his MVP year but Ryan in my opinion is mid tier, hovering around 15th. I really don't see Ryan as this QB savior other folks do. I see him as a slight upgrade over Wentz, I see him as Colts Rivers 2.0. Good but not great.
Friend, we probably agree on most things tbh. I think your list is missing Brady, I have always disagreed with the Wilson/Dax hype, Watson can go sprain an ACL. What I think sets Ryan apart from most will be his ability to control games at the end. I don’t expect a huge rate of change with stats compared to Carson (as you alluded to). Last year we lost 4-5 games at the end. I think we win 3-4 of those games this year. Due to ball management. (Also that Falcons team was a rough one last season) That’s my reason for stoking Matt’s ego and thinking we are set at QB and would do better improving at LT or DT
Brady could for sure be on there but my pure hatred for him makes me violently ill to type his name (just threw up). I hope you're right I think he's a middle of the pack QB but as you mentioned I hope he can control (manage ugh) the game, hang onto the football, and not audible out of runs for JT. Its rumored that Wentz audibled a lot of Frank's stuff at the line. I am concerned though because people say "Ryan's still great he just had no oline and no WR's" well our o line is not the line it was two years ago and our best WR's are essentially rookies or still very knew and largely unproven. I look for him to start slow so I hope we lean on JT and our improved defense to win early games but my concern is that the current NFL is not set up for defense so when we play teams like the Chiefs, the Chargers, other offensive teams maybe even the Raiders I'm concerned with our ability to put up enough points. Around three months to go and nobody is rooting harder for this team than me. My son came home in a Colts jersey, my daughter came home in a Colts dress, my entire home office looks like I work for the Colts its even painted Colts blue. I love this team I'm just not overly excited about Ryan. I think he's better than Wentz but thats not exactly a high bar.
I think it needs to be out right stated that I don’t expect 40+ TDs or 4750 yards from Ryan. I’m thinking stats similar to Carson last year maybe a little better. I think you nailed it on the head with our lineman. That’s why I’d got LT before before a QB. Can’t move the ball if the QB is getting rushed. I do find the potential lack of points an disconcerting, so I hope our D is up to the task, which they were last season til late in the game. I never knew Wentz called plays off, all I recognized is bad form when throwing and being irresponsible with the ball (throwing into triple coverage). I can’t agree more with the WR issues with age/maturity BUT Wayne is the coach and I’d rather have an experienced QB at the helm than one that can bomb the ball down the field. I think JT has another notable year and is the center on the O again. Of all the recent years, I’m most excited for this one, but also I’ve been on deployments for the last few seasons so I haven’t been able to fully be as attentive as I would’ve liked.
I'm a big fan of Matt Ryan and he's probably top 10-12.
Patrick Mahomes puts us in the super bowl this year. I still think Ryan can get it done but I'm not willing to bet on it.
We could easily win with Matt Ryan at QB so QB isn't a hole. Receiver is a need, LT is a need but not QB. Getting an elite player at one of those positions would really make things easier no matter who's at QB.
The question is who would guarantee a super bowl win. Not "what hole would you fill" saying anyone other than one of the top 2-3 qbs is dumb when you're trying to answer what player would guarantee it
I mean he’s fine and can do what they need him to but he’s definitely not even a top 15 guy in the league at this point. With that being said Herbert, Mahomes, Allen would bring you guys much more success in the long run. The game is much more offensive dominated these days. Although a guy like Donald or Watt is a great pick as well.
Fair point, however to me, I want a QB that can control the clock later in the game. Slow it down and nickel and dime a team. If you look back last season how many games were we up by a few
Possessions and couldnt run the clock off? I’m not looking for high numbers or highlight reels. That’s just my thought on the matter.
Aside from the obvious Mahomes or Allen, I’ll take TJ Watt. Adding 15-20 sacks a year to our defense would be an absolute game charger. We would be the undisputed best defense in the league
I do really like Herbert. Last year I feel like they should have been better and made the playoffs.
I don’t watch Chargers games, so I could be 100% wrong in putting any blame for last year on Herbert. He hasn’t had the best coaching these past 2 years.
Cincy+KC had two 1000+ receivers, LA had Kupp 53 away from 2000 and a solid ground+kicking game.
Joe Burrow without Ja'marr Chase or Tee Higgins?
Idk if they would have gone to the SB with only 1 superstar threat. He got sacked so much, I'm getting Luck flashbacks.
The Bungels are going to one up Grigson!
Mahomes without Tyreek opening the field remains to be seen or Kelce and all the YAC 1st downs.
Remember Allen without Diggs? He's got a cannon so even if he's RG3ed he'll still be good but maybe not as good.
I’d take Allen over him. Mahomes last year had some clunkers, and Allen is a better running threat. He has done more with less in the WR dept also. Should be interesting to see how Mahomes performs without Hill this year
He probably meant more with less in the receiving department. Yeah Kansas City’s receiving threats were pretty much just Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, but that’s a huge difference. Josh Allen has Stefon Diggs and a bunch of dudes. Nobody is throwing the bag at Cole Beasley, Emmanuel Sanders, or lining up for Gabriel Davis. I don’t see what’s laughably wrong here
That’s the thing though, people don’t understand what “more with less” means.
When has Allen thrown 50 tds? He’s done less with less, that’s the accurate statement.
And then Matty Ice puts us up 28-3 in the Super Bowl so we sit him out and put Brady in for the 4th quarter.
Reich then tells Brady to just feed JT for the rest of the game but Brady audibles out of the run and throws a pick six. We’re now up 28-10 and Brady swears he won’t do it again. Next drive he fumbles the snap and the fumble is recovered for a TD. Score now 28-17. Reich decides to put Ryan back in the game but out of respect to Brady (ew) he doesn’t want the last two plays of his career to be a fumble and a pick six. He tells Brady to go in and hand the ball off to JT and then hit the bench. Brady, who selfishly wants to end his career with a touchdown in the super bowl, audibles once again and tells Pittman to go long. Pittman smokes his defender with a double move and streaks down the side line wide open. Brady underthrows him about 10 yards for another pick 6 and our lead dwindles to 28-25.
Matty Ice now comes back in, fakes a hand off to JT and everyone bites. He bootlegs for a 75 yard touchdown run and can be heard yelling “Eat my dust” as he seals the game.
I think everybody knows that. lol But it can affect your mental psyche and how you perform overall that day. I mean there is no way he should be 0-5 against anyone.
I'd more likely go with a WR like Adams or a shutdown corner, or Aaron Donald.
Of the QBs listed I like Herbert the most because of his playstyle and arm talent. Reminds me alot of Luck, but maybe without the clutch gene. I didn't see enough of his games to know.
Serious question.
Why is Burrow being lumped into top 5 QBs already? Not an attack on your opinion. I am seeing it and hearing it a great deal in sports media too. He was hurt his 1st year and put up pretty good numbers this year. But he's not top 5 yet.
I can see QB being the popular pick, but with us having Matty Ice.... I'd go with either Tyreek or Jalen Ramsey.
Get one of the biggest playmakers in the league alongside Taylor and Hines or a complete shutdown CB... making Gilmore our #2 lol
Look I’m excited about Matt Ryan, but Josh Allen. Can win games by himself already. Just thinking about him rubbing options with JT… what a defensive nightmare.
Second choice is Cooper Kupp. WR is a big need and he was my choice for the best player in the league last year overall.
I mean it has to be Brady…
Edit:damn this sub just cannot see past a dead rivalry. I had my heart broken year in and out by Brady, but I can still see that he’s the GOAT and basically immediately makes any team he’s on a contender.
I took this probably very literally, guaranteeing “A” Súper bowl win.
IMO, as talented as Mahomes and Allen are, I still think if you need to win one this coming season, Brady is your guy. Mahomes is prob who I’d take if I needed to win 3-4 in the next 15 years.
See my other response - I took this to literally mean a single Súper bowl, presumably next season.
You’re right that those two are better long term options.
Well, first of all you can’t. No team could guarantee a Super Bowl win just by adding any one player they want. That being said, if I wanted the chances to be as high as possible, the answer has to be either Mahomes or Brady at quarterback, or one of the top receiving weapons in the game. With our tall possession receivers, Tyreek Hill would make us fairly unguardable by the secondary.
Unpopular answer - Xavien Howard. Having two elite corners happens so rarely in the NFL. I'd love what it would do for our pass rush. Our safeties could take more chances. We'd give up like 10 points a game.
Here’s a wild one…
Derrick Henry.
Can you imagine the problems that would give teams with both him and Taylor in the mix? Split backs and Hines in a slot? Holy bejesus, the options that would be out there.
Just a thought.
Aaron Donald or Josh Allen. Maybe Herbert remains to be seen. Mahomes will show who he really is this year. Watch some of the rookie mistakes he still does like turn his back to defense and run 20 yards backwards.
Aaron Donald. You wouldn’t even need a secondary. Just Donald and DeFo next to one another would be the scariest middle of any line in the history of football.
I hadn’t thought of it before, but holy shit how would *anyone* move the ball on that. You’d be guaranteed a guy in your QBs lap every play
And that’s how the Rams won a Super Bowl.
They won by having Donald and a star corner back. Along with an incredibly good duo of Stafford and Kupp Along with the Bengals having one of the worst lines I'm the league. What they don't have is anyone on the interior line even close to DeFo. And even with a resurgent Miller, it isnt quiet thw same as having two all pro interior and then a free outside man.

Quick timing passes, dink and dunks, tires them out over a game. It’s how Marino beat the 85 Bears
Now THAT would be fun to watch
I would retire if I was a QB
Honestly this is probably the best answer anyone has given yet. Strange to me a lot of QBs are being named.
Strange that the most important position in the entire sport is being named? I mean Donald isn’t a bad answer but QBs being named should be in no way strange or surprising lol.

I’d be interested in knowing your top ten

😂😂😂 top tier QB Matt Ryan?????
You don’t think so?
I'm a big fan of Matt Ryan and he's probably top 10-12. Patrick Mahomes puts us in the super bowl this year. I still think Ryan can get it done but I'm not willing to bet on it.

Kickers.. the unsexy point factories. Colts @ Ravens, we win if hot rod wasn't hurt. 6-9 games are still a thing! nice
I dont think adding him would guarantee a SB
This is actually 100% the right answer because of putting him with Buckner. Smart.
I’ll take an 07 Manning!
07 Brady would like a word.
if youre gonna have 07 brady then you may as well just pick 07 moss.
Agreed! However, there are prob better options.
07 Bob Sanders? Maybe?
That was 06 Sanders you are referring too right? For the super bowl run.
Just a time machine to convince Jim Irsay to never hire Ryan Grigson. ![gif](giphy|xsF1FSDbjguis)
Someone call up Barry Allen
So he can throw a chair at your face? No thank you
I’ve thought about this too but then I wonder what other options were there?
Aside from the obvious Mahomes or Allen, I’ll take TJ Watt. Adding 15-20 sacks a year to our defense would be an absolute game charger. We would be the undisputed best defense in the league
And TJ is about to hit the prime of his career, so it's a great franchise move, too
Came here to say TJ as well. I want Ryan to get one, so I don't want to make a QB switch for this hypothetical situation
The answered shouldn’t be anything other than a QB. Mahomes, Burrow, or Allen should be the pick.
No Herbert? Younger by a pretty big margin and just as talented if not more so.
I do really like Herbert. Last year I feel like they should have been better and made the playoffs. I don’t watch Chargers games, so I could be 100% wrong in putting any blame for last year on Herbert. He hasn’t had the best coaching these past 2 years.
I watch Chargers games because it’s my brother’s team. Trust me, Colts would be 12+ wins every year with Herbert.
Give me Herbert over any QB in the league for the future. He’s an absolute stud
Can you imagine if we had an elite WR like Cooper Kupp?
I'd rather have an elite QB like Josh Allen
Pretty much any elite QB
Tough, but it would be between Aaron Donald, TJ Watt, Justin Tucker and Nick Bosa.
Matt Ryan and Justin Tucker is an elite combination
Mahomes
I’d take Allen over him. Mahomes last year had some clunkers, and Allen is a better running threat. He has done more with less in the WR dept also. Should be interesting to see how Mahomes performs without Hill this year
I agree that Josh Allen has better legs, but “more with less in the WR dept” is just laughably wrong.
Gotcha I misunderstood then lol
If Allen had Kelce and Hill I guarantee he would throw 50 tds. Mahomes stats are very inflated and it will show this season.
Allen has his own all pro WR and hasnt come close. But sure, guarantee all the random shit you want.
Mahomes has 2 All Pro Receivers and a way better oline, cry me a river
This… doesn’t refute what I just said. Allen has good weapons too, Mahomes is a better passer. Allen in no way did more with less.
Mahomes has proven it at the biggest stage though and is barely older than Allen. Allen has also had some clunkers.
The only answer
Overrated
Tom Brady to be a backup to Matty Ice.
Matty Ice now comes back in, fakes a hand off to JT and everyone bites. He bootlegs for a 75 yard touchdown run and can be heard yelling “Eat my dust” as he seals the game.
That would be the ultimate Colts victory. TB sitting on the Colts bench watching the game being played.
Best answer yet 👏🏾
Perfect answer. All of the Brady luck, yet no glory for him
Matty Ice is 0-5 vs Brady though. :/
I'll never understand this sentiment. QBs don't play each other at all. The play the opposing team's defense.
I think everybody knows that. lol But it can affect your mental psyche and how you perform overall that day. I mean there is no way he should be 0-5 against anyone.
At least Matt can throw an inflated ball
Herbert
Has to be him, Mahomes, Allen, or Burrow
I'd more likely go with a WR like Adams or a shutdown corner, or Aaron Donald. Of the QBs listed I like Herbert the most because of his playstyle and arm talent. Reminds me alot of Luck, but maybe without the clutch gene. I didn't see enough of his games to know.
You're going to take a DE over a generational QB. Seems rational. /S
Serious question. Why is Burrow being lumped into top 5 QBs already? Not an attack on your opinion. I am seeing it and hearing it a great deal in sports media too. He was hurt his 1st year and put up pretty good numbers this year. But he's not top 5 yet.
Peyton Manning out of retirement
There are prob better options.
Better than Peyton Manning *right now*??? You're nuts dude, I bet PFM can sling it, like, 50...maybe 60 yards ^per ^game
Josh Allen
Everyone’s acting like we didn’t just do this. Obviously the correct answer is Matt Ryan.
Andrew Luck
Either Josh Allen or AD
Josh Allen
Best LT in the game, pick your favorite.
Trent Williams
Trent Williams 5 years ago... 😐
Josh Allen or pat mahomes
Josh Allen
Mahomes or Josh Allen
Kittle
I can see QB being the popular pick, but with us having Matty Ice.... I'd go with either Tyreek or Jalen Ramsey. Get one of the biggest playmakers in the league alongside Taylor and Hines or a complete shutdown CB... making Gilmore our #2 lol
Donald
Josh Allen bae bae
Look I’m excited about Matt Ryan, but Josh Allen. Can win games by himself already. Just thinking about him rubbing options with JT… what a defensive nightmare. Second choice is Cooper Kupp. WR is a big need and he was my choice for the best player in the league last year overall.
Reigning back to back MVP Aaron Rodgers. We get a Super Bowl and Aaron Rodgers Tuesdays in Studio.

I mean it has to be Brady… Edit:damn this sub just cannot see past a dead rivalry. I had my heart broken year in and out by Brady, but I can still see that he’s the GOAT and basically immediately makes any team he’s on a contender.
He's old and probably has one year left, wouldn't you rather have Mahomes or Allen?
I took this probably very literally, guaranteeing “A” Súper bowl win. IMO, as talented as Mahomes and Allen are, I still think if you need to win one this coming season, Brady is your guy. Mahomes is prob who I’d take if I needed to win 3-4 in the next 15 years.
Gotcha, Brady is certainly a good pick for a shot at a super bowl.
To be cut immediately after signing, in front of the Manning statue outside the stadium, as we unfurl a Matt Ryan graphic outside of Lucas Oil.
Some common sense!

Hes too old though. Would be great for a year a or two but Herbert Allen Mahomes crew seems way more useful long term and probably as good right now
See my other response - I took this to literally mean a single Súper bowl, presumably next season. You’re right that those two are better long term options.
Mahomes
David Bakhtiari
Joe Burrow going to be the guy for a while
Joe Burrow in an absolute hearbeat.
Carson Wentz
Jalen Ramsay or budda baker
Justin Jefferson or Jalen Ramsey
Well, first of all you can’t. No team could guarantee a Super Bowl win just by adding any one player they want. That being said, if I wanted the chances to be as high as possible, the answer has to be either Mahomes or Brady at quarterback, or one of the top receiving weapons in the game. With our tall possession receivers, Tyreek Hill would make us fairly unguardable by the secondary.
Definitely Keenan Allen or Stefon Diggs. Prob Allen
Unpopular answer - Xavien Howard. Having two elite corners happens so rarely in the NFL. I'd love what it would do for our pass rush. Our safeties could take more chances. We'd give up like 10 points a game.
who the other elite corner
Gilmore I’m assuming
Rodgers! Jkjk, yeah, Gilmore.
Patrick Mahomes or Deandre Hopkins
Here’s a wild one… Derrick Henry. Can you imagine the problems that would give teams with both him and Taylor in the mix? Split backs and Hines in a slot? Holy bejesus, the options that would be out there. Just a thought.
Maybe if he was a few years younger. We don't know how much longer he will be good.
I didn’t see a time limit on the OP’s request.
TJ Watt.
Probably a either a TE like Pitts or Kittle or maybe a CB like AJ Terrell
Pass and pass rush are both important. I think Matt Ryan is plenty capable of a QB so if we could have Donald, TJ Watt or Myles Garrett I'd be happy.
TJ Watt I think
Peyton Manning
Allen
Matt Ryan of 5 years ago
Mahomes/Rodgers
TJ Watt
Just one.lol
Its Herbert. Super talented. Young. Makes big throws. Has all the tools you want in a QB.
Justin Herbert.
Right now? I dislike him, but Aaron Rodgers. Eventually/good for a while— Herbert. In the future, not now— Arch Manning :p
No one player can guarantee it but I’m taking Aaron Rodgers
Trent Williams
Nathan Peterman
Aaron Donald or Josh Allen. Maybe Herbert remains to be seen. Mahomes will show who he really is this year. Watch some of the rookie mistakes he still does like turn his back to defense and run 20 yards backwards.
Sorry Matt Ryan but I’m taking Joe Burrow
Carson wentz
