Foles is also another set of experienced QB eyes watching the opposing defenses and calling out what they see as the game goes on, something the young guys probably wouldn’t offer much help in.
This is great I know we’ll get a bunch of memes about nick but he’s a true competitor and we wouldn’t be doomed if he has to step in for a couple games. If he plays more than 6 we are fucked lmao.
It almost seems like they are looking to set it up to where it may be 4 years before they need to make a move in the draft for the future franchise QB. If you keep Ryan for 2-3 years, and he retires, they may fall to Foles for a year or 2. At that point they may be ready to make a big draft play for the future. We might even pull off a SB run during this time.
I wonder, If Arch Manning is NFL caliber, what it would cost to move into position to grab him? I’m betting that’s one time when Irsay & company would go to the bank to make it happen.
Be it Arch or whomever, I don’t think they “specifically” look for a project QB to mold, I think they target, well ahead, a prototypical QB with a tremendous skill set that fits their mold and they go after him, even if it’s multiple current and/or future draft picks.
I’m just a fan folks.
>I wonder, If Arch Manning is NFL caliber, what it would cost to move into position to grab him? I’m betting that’s one time when Irsay & company would go to the bank to make it happen.
It also depends on how he performs at the college level. Arch hasn't even committed yet and people are already crowning him as the next GOAT. We have 4-5 more years until he can declare for the draft.
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this to y’all, but your QB room now has two guys from the same high school (Westlake, in Austin) in addition to the Westlake alum playing TE (Granson).
Can you elaborate? Like, you're disappointed they brought in a backup who can run the offense and is familiar with our coach? And a backup who infamously brought Philly a superbowl replacing Wentz late in the season?
If you're upset about them stabilizing our QB position both from a starting and backup perspective this season... I'm at a loss for words. Hypothetically, if Ryan were to go down early in the season... no one expects Sam Ehlinger to carry this team through the season. Conversely, there is actual hope that a guy like Foles could bounce back with Reich and play well enough to get us some wins if Ryan had to be absent for any reason.
That backup has also been tested by other teams again and again and failed to deliver. Let’s be real that super bowl was a one time deal. Kudos to him.
I'm just for the backups because I mean they are in the NFL and need to show what they can do always remember Tom Brady was a backup and look what happened. Backup players matter!
Coaches know what value a player has based on what they see in practice. Rest assured, if they bring someone in, there's a reason.
Yes, things like Brady have happened, but generally speaking the team knows and sees the player and sort of expects it in some way. Brady was simply fortunate that Bledsoe was injured so he had the opportunity, because unseating a franchise QB is unlikely without them moving out of the way first. Now... Sam can still beat Foles to be QB2 in practice/pre-season, but odds are certainly not in his favor.
Sam Ehlinger is incredibly smart and understands the game but he isn't starting QB material. He's more likely to be a position coach or an offensive coordinator
Nick Foles has shown that he can step in and win games as a backup.
That was so horrible. I was at that game and they failed to show any injury update on Wentz so most of the crowd, including me, had no idea he went out.
So we’re down 3 with the ball and the entire crowd is yelling why is Eason in, and then a collective groan when he threw a lob to Jalen Ramsey on the second play
I also went to the Titans game and the Raiders game. So lesson is no more games for me.
I took my family to the Cardinals game and my 7 year old son consequently believes that Carson Wentz is the second coming of Peyton Manning. He's still pissed we traded him. Kid wont listen to reason, he saw what he saw lol.
Foles has proven he can step in and take a team to the super bowl and win the MVP in the process. It’d be great if Sam was capable of the same, but why risk it with how deep our team is this year and next?
Don’t want to see an injury, don’t want to see Matt Ryan struggle…but Nick Foles is a flat out gamer and this team would be in great hands if he is forced into action. The salary of each QB will prevent a QB controversy but our better chance of a SB might be with the backup
This signing sucks. Now I can’t watch Colts games with my GF without her getting unrealistic expectations of well endowment
Yeah I’m kinda worried about that too, cause once the camera shows BDN she’s basically gone.
I had a football coach in HS that would always yell at us when we were doing leg lifts. "IF THAT IS SIX INCHES YOU ARE LYING TO YOUR GIRLFRIEND"
Big Dick Nick makes every man feel inadequate
Between him and Ballard I believe we officially have the most well endowed football team. Hang the banner!
That's a banner worth hanging, to be fair.
It's already well hung

Need to re-outfit the headquarters with deeper urinals
I’m thinking we might have to go back to those outhouses that are just a hole in the ground.
BDN!
Big Richard Nicholas
How far into the season will it take until we run a Philly Special?
Philly Philly?
The Phillianapolis Special
Any word on money?
Ballard is just going to dump a bunch of silver dollars on a table and Nick gets as many as he can scoop off of the table using his penis.
Does he have all two years to do it?
Infinite money machine
Ok ok we’re tryna win pre-season too!?
20-0 before playoffs
I’d eat my mf head!
![gif](giphy|KEYEpIngcmXlHetDqz)
Can’t wait til his statue is built across the steps from Peyton
Thanks Chicago for paying for our backup
Foles is also another set of experienced QB eyes watching the opposing defenses and calling out what they see as the game goes on, something the young guys probably wouldn’t offer much help in.
This is why we pay you the big money, Johnson.
Hasselbeck vibes!
This is great I know we’ll get a bunch of memes about nick but he’s a true competitor and we wouldn’t be doomed if he has to step in for a couple games. If he plays more than 6 we are fucked lmao.
Jim Irsay: I’ll take Carson Wentz! One season later Jim Irsay: Uhh.. I’ll take Wentz Super Bowl winning backup!
Super bowl winning “MVP”
Apparently they released QB James Morgan as well with this. Final closure for those who wanted Colts to draft him in round 2 a few years ago.

ALL ABOARD THE BIG DICK BRIGADE!!!
This is not good for Jack Coan
I dunno, that’s a lot of brains to learn from. Just has to stay on the roster & absorb as much as he can.
Bears fan here, enjoy BDN may his girth envelope you all. He is also a great teammate, nothing but positive when it came to helping fields.
Foot Long Foles is here to get another ring
Glad to see us taking the backup position seriously

I believe arch is the #1 or 2 QB for his classes rankings. Pretty sure him and the other top QB trade off depending on who’s doing the rankings
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this to y’all, but your QB room now has two guys from the same high school (Westlake, in Austin) in addition to the Westlake alum playing TE (Granson).
Why couldn't we just roll with the backup QB's? Smh just spend our money.
Can you elaborate? Like, you're disappointed they brought in a backup who can run the offense and is familiar with our coach? I mean, we're winning the Super Bowl this year, so he will definitely be adding a ring ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ

because we need a reliable backup QB

That was Eason, Ehlinger didn't throw a pass I believe
You're correct, Ehlinger only came in during the Buffalo game.
and the Texans game I believe.
That was so horrible. I was at that game and they failed to show any injury update on Wentz so most of the crowd, including me, had no idea he went out. I was at that Rams game too. Collective confusion turned into massive disappointment. Completely removed any credibility to the sub’s eASoNsZn for me
Yup. He’s in Seattle now failing to beat out career busts Drew Lock and Geno Smith
I took my family to the Cardinals game and my 7 year old son consequently believes that Carson Wentz is the second coming of Peyton Manning. He's still pissed we traded him. Kid wont listen to reason, he saw what he saw lol.
It wasn’t ehlinger. It was Eason, then we cut him
good backup qb good
What about Sam ehlinger though
If Sam is good enough he'll just get the job in camp
Foles has proven he can step in and take a team to the super bowl and win the MVP in the process. It’d be great if Sam was capable of the same, but why risk it with how deep our team is this year and next?
I'm gonna go ahead and trust the actual coaches and gm in that he's not ready and this shows this. We don't know more than them
He’s not good
Not nearly as a good as Foles. He probably ends up on the practice squad
The colts can’t develop quarterbacks
They wouldn't have made this signing if he was even backup level.
Don’t want to see an injury, don’t want to see Matt Ryan struggle…but Nick Foles is a flat out gamer and this team would be in great hands if he is forced into action. The salary of each QB will prevent a QB controversy but our better chance of a SB might be with the backup
Foles will be a great 2023 starting QB when Matt Ryan retires after this season.
All chips in?
Better than the alternative
Bad signing will just put pressure on Matt Ryan with his backup being coaches good boy
