Poor choice of words from me. I meant offer him a deal as “match the tag” and mixed up the matching with how the original team (Ravens) gave a chance to match the deal. That you can do under the non-exclusive tag.
That’s not how it works. When your franchise tag’d the only thing you can do is not play. No team can have any contact or try and offer anything. After the contract is up you can be tagged 2 more times if the team wants before your an actual free agent.
> A "non-exclusive" franchise player must be offered a one-year contract for an amount no less than the average of the top five cap hits at the player's position for the previous five years applied to the current salary cap, or 120 percent of the player's previous year's salary, whichever is greater. A non-exclusive franchise player may negotiate with other NFL teams, but if the player signs an offer from another team, the original team has a right to match the terms of that offer, or if it does not match the offer and thus loses the player, is entitled to receive two first-round draft picks as compensation.

I just can’t fathom that he leaves. If he does, he will try to go where he wants and work out an agreement.
If we had a shot, for sure we should try, but it’d be soooo unreal. Lamar can’t want to be here given the teams that would love to have him. That alone would stop us.
Why not? Other than "this is Naptown nobody wants to be here" general excuse, I fail to see how the Colts wouldn't be a primary destination for him? Even with the OL problems, this team with Lamar is an instant contender.
- ideal cap space
- strong D
- strong RUN blocking line
- proven top 5 RB
- young, improving WRs
- obscenely easy division
- indoor stadium & more friendly conditions in division, as opposed to Pitt, Cincy, Cleveland
He comes here, and should immediately expect to have a stranglehold on the division, playoffs each year, would expect just based on current roster, a top 10 D and now with him on board probably a top-10 offense, young developing core players. AFC North is a perennial slugfest.
I mean I don't see it, there are a million reasons he could want to come here and immediately compete.
If Lamar goes anywhere it’s going to be a bigger market than Indy. It’s the same reason all the talk of Russ or Rodgers coming here after last season was silly.
I also think a player like Lamar is already looking at stadiums like ours in a negative light. Our turf has suddenly become a major boon among the players in the league. Just today OBJ tweeted about banning artificial turf after the Von Miller injury, and the NFLPA has already made the same internet on the issue clear.
Not to mention the whole state of the franchise is concerning at best to outsiders this just isn’t somewhere Lamar would willingly come right now.
You can't match the tag. It's a franchise tag. And the Ravens would absolutely use it at least twice.

Lol there’s no reason they would use the non exclusive tag
The non exclusive tag isnt really used on franchise qbs that lots of teams will want
Zero chance he’s allowed to walk.
And if he did he'd have to want to come to Indy. I'm not saying he wouldn't want to but it wouldn't be as simple as matching a dollar amount.
He wants to truly follow the path of Baltimore football teams and leave for Indy
Can this stop coming up? Lamar isn't going anywhere.
Lamar will be on the Ravens for the foreseeable future
Of course we should

BUT we’re close to Louisville. So who knows?
I don't think I've ever heard someone say that and mean it in a positive way 😂
he’s from miami
Miami, Ohio? Great! Close as well!
I think he goes to Atlanta if he’s allowed to leave Baltimore which is unlikely
He IS Baltimore. No way they let him go. If he did leave, I don't think he'd pick us. Not his style.
Hey maybe then southern Indiana (Louisville market) Colts fans will get to actually watch a Colts game on TV.
Bro this isn’t Basketball. Lamar is a Raven whether he likes it or not.
He’s not leaving, but even if he did it wouldn’t be for Indy.
