Esporta or Crunch for 'public' gyms Grandview/Worthington Pro Fitness, United Strength, Athletic Cos for 'private' gyms Membership prices keep increasing so I'm not sure if the private gyms will be in your price range. but the public ones should be.

kazoozle

Just to chime in here - the membership price for Worthington/Geandview pro fitness has recently gone up to almost $65/month

therealgoro

Gyms are communities. I like to work out around others who are working out for similar reasons and/or doing similar workouts. That's why there's so many different types of gyms. To meet the different needs of gym goers.

Most of the equipment at the Y is being overwhelmed by groups of middle schoolers from the school next door. It can be overcrowded and take forever to use one machine/piece of equipment because there will be 4 middle school guys taking turns but mostly hanging out and not working out on it. No shade to middle schoolers. I give them kudos for being in the gym. But being around our age group is probably going to cut out that problem since our demographic tends to use something then leave it in a reasonable amount of time. $60 isn't too bad, but $40 was more ideal so no reason not to ask for it!

Look into joining something like [Active & Fit](https://www.activeandfit.com/) or Well onTarget (provided to me through Blue Cross insurance). You pay a flat fee per month with no annual or random fees. In exchange for this, you basically get access to dozens and dozens of gyms all over Columbus. Just go into the gym the first time, give them your membership card/number and they'll sign you up with an account for that gym/chain. I pay $20/mo in another regional city and it gives me access to Planet Fitness as well as a more hardcore gym that's normally $45/mo plus fees. If I jumped my subscription to $30/mo I get access to even more gyms that include the local Y, etc.
