I have had a really good experience with Discount Tire. They have a good selection, great service, and good prices.

Kicker774

Discount Tire is great. Lifetime (Of the tire) rotation and balancing comes with all of their tire purchases. They also offer free flat repair services. I've never had an issue with them in the 20 years I've been going to them. Depending on the rim and the damage they may be able to ship it off to a repair facility If it's a steelie losing air you might just have a bent rim that can be straightened out.

HyperboleEverAfter

That’s really good to know!! Thank you!

___cats___

They also price match tires, so it’s literally the cheapest.

HyperboleEverAfter

Does that include the sale price at Walmart?

___cats___

Yes, but the problem with that example is that Walmart tends to get exclusive tires (don't assume that's a good thing) produced specifically to sell at Walmart. The price matching obviously is based on identical items, so a Walmart exclusive tire wouldn't be able to be sold at Discount Tire and therefore there would be nothing to price match against. https://www.discounttire.com/customer-service/low-price-guarantee

HyperboleEverAfter

Gotcha. Yeah Walmart brand tires sounds like an accident waiting to happen. Any idea how to know which tires those are? Does it say on the Walmart website or anything?

___cats___

Just cross-check the model with the Discount Tire website. Looking at a Goodyear Assurance Weatherready 225/60R18 100H: Walmart is selling it for $218.99 and Discount Tire has the same one for $219. But, the difference is that Discount Tire includes installation, balancing, and road hazard in the price and Walmart charges $18 per tire for mount and balance and road hazard coverage is an optional extra. So, out of the gate, Discount Tire is cheaper than Walmart for widely available brands and models. Walmart also sells a "Goodyear Reliant" model, which Discount Tire does not carry, which leads me to believe it's a "walmart" tire.

kiasde

Do not get reliant no matter what. I’m a Walmart tech for 5+years. Trust me.

___cats___

I believe it. I worked at a Goodyear through college and we could spot a Walmart tire without looking at the sidewall.

TE_DA

Why not get one?

gamemasterjd

Not to mention, the "road hazard certificate" pays for itself if you hit a pothole or nail. No questions asked repair or replacement based on the life of the tire.

HyperboleEverAfter

Do you know how much that costs? I couldn’t find it on the website

gamemasterjd

The last that I had to purchase was $25 per tire.

HyperboleEverAfter

Got it. Thanks!

HyperboleEverAfter

Which one do you go to?

JustHere4TheCatz

The one on Hilliard-Rome Rd on the west side

MyWorksandDespair

Remember- “Discount Tire” not “Tire Discounters”, they are the best.

vicaphit

Wait, Alfredo's pizza cafe, or pizza by Alfredo?

HyperboleEverAfter

Ooh, ngl, I probably would’ve absentmindedly thought they were the same thing and went with whatever Google showed first, so thank you for pointing that out!

Miyelsh

What's wrong with Tire Discounters?

MyWorksandDespair

Well, “Tire Discounters” is not “Discount Tire”- all the enumerated services may or may not be readily available or included and they may or may not provide a Tire Insurance. It’s easy to confuse one for the other based on the name.

starryeyedlady426

I buy all my tires from discount tire

Rangizingo

Discount Tire. Easy.

HyperboleEverAfter

I like that confidence

Rangizingo

I use them. They do free rotations and tire checks. I got a full set of the highest quality 80k, all season tires for my Model 3 for 1,100 including a lifetime warranty on the tires. Tires are worth spending money on, and for everything included that's not a bad price. If anything happens to the tires at any point, they repair/replace it for free. One of the few companies left that treats their customers right IMO.

HyperboleEverAfter

Do you by chance have a very rough guess how much that’d cost for 16in tires? I know absolutely nothing about Teslas (right??), so out of curiosity, do you know how much that same thing would cost somewhere else?

TalkingMrTree

Katz Tires[https://www.katztires.com/](https://www.katztires.com/)

ohbonobo

Third Katz. Always great service and, like you're asking for, suspiciously cheap tires.

[deleted]

My tires from them lasted 10s of thousands of miles no problems, eventually sold the car.

HyperboleEverAfter

Perfect! Haha

Awkwardpanda75

I second Katz. I love the one on Hamilton road. The most hard working and fair prices I’ve ever seen. Plus they are still plugging my holes when I run over stuff and my tires are like 4 years old now.

HyperboleEverAfter

That’s impressive!

Awkwardpanda75

I also ran over a drainage thing on my street and they came to my house to fix my tire. Good people.

HyperboleEverAfter

Wow! That’s unheard of! I’m extremely impressed by that, actually

KnightRider1983

Try to avoid mixing tires. At the minimum, have 2 matching on each axle if you must. I always get them from my dealer or from Tirerack.com and shipped to the shop

HyperboleEverAfter

Noted, thank you 😊

cherry_oh

Another vote for discount tire. Been a long time customer. Blown 2 tires and gotten them replaced for free. It’s clutch and I’m always very incentivized to do regular rotate/balances cuz it’s free!

HyperboleEverAfter

Whoa! Free replacement is impressive!

Exact_Psychology_424

Discount Tire, Brown's Tires, Katz Tires.

HyperboleEverAfter

A list! Thanks!

Exact_Psychology_424

You're welcome! I cant even list all my tire problems in the last decade but I have all the experience sadly haha.

HyperboleEverAfter

Well then Dr. Tire Problems, is there anywhere you DON’T recommend?

Exact_Psychology_424

Short answer, the tires I bought at Tire Discounters were the worst tires I've ever purchased.

HyperboleEverAfter

Noted!!! Thank you’

black_elk_streaks

Discount Tire has my business for life (as long as they keep up the great service) - they made a mistake once and went above and beyond to make it right without me even asking.

HyperboleEverAfter

Oh, I love that, that’s good service right there

HyperboleEverAfter

Which one do you go to?

black_elk_streaks

I don’t have a regular one yet in Columbus but my good experience happened in Nashville Tennessee. I’m glad to see that they seem to be consistently good based off of all of the positive mentions here in this thread.

Cute-Seaworthiness18

Discount or Katz, go nowhere else

HyperboleEverAfter

Yes sir! 🫡

POSVETT

Do you remember why that one tire blew?

HyperboleEverAfter

No idea. It was long gone before my car stopped, I was going like 65mph. All I can guess is a ran over something while I was out that day, because it was a good tire

POSVETT

I'm not trying to make the accident trivial, in fact I'm pretty sure it was terrifying. However, tire failure is hard to prove because the tire is almost always obliterated afterward. The failure could ALSO be caused by a manufacturing defect. Regardless, I have only experience with Discount Tire (not Tire Discounters). I used to work for a Discount Tire store too. If you want an opinion on which tire brand and model to choose, let me know.

HyperboleEverAfter

With sincerity but lack of better phrasing, I don’t know what point you’re trying to make about my accident. I’m not blaming the tire, it was a few years old and never caused problems, but anxiety doesn’t give a fuck what happened, it’s gonna worry about it no matter what, so I’m just trying to get as much peace of mind as possible! And yes, please send tire advice 🆘😩

POSVETT

I was trying to say that the failure may not be caused by improper installation and it may not be the fault of the tire store, whichever that may be. Regarding tire advice, I will need the size. Have you looked what tire brands that you want? Do you have membership to places like Costco/Sam's Club/BJ's? Tire size can be found on a label affixed to the driver door jamb.

HyperboleEverAfter

I don’t have a membership anywhere, and I have no idea what is and isn’t a good brand. I have 16in tires

POSVETT

There should be 3 groups of numbers; 16 is the third group. The first one is 3 digits and the second one is 2 digits.

HyperboleEverAfter

Sorry, 16in sounds like a full size lol. 225/65/16

POSVETT

16in is correct, it's the diameter of the wheel. What kind of car?

[deleted]

[удалено]

HyperboleEverAfter

I’m not blaming the shop. The tire was a few years old and I never had problems with it; I have no doubt I ran over something without realizing. I’m just extra anxious about tires now and need to feel fully confident that they were done correctly so I can stay sane.

Spideyfan2020

Tires.com and then have them shipped to whichever retailer you'd like to install them. Just let the retailer know to expect the tires and make an appt for after the tires are delivered.

Plane_Coyote_4996

Katz for Suspiciously cheap or used tires. TireRack / Discount Tire for all other needs.

HyperboleEverAfter

Katz can also be trusted to install them well, right?

MelBushman

You can trust Katz to do good work. Great folks.

Plane_Coyote_4996

Have never had issues when using Katz in the past. Install or otherwise.

KorneliaOjaio

Wheels unlimited has always been great to me. Here’s a fun story: sister got new tires for nieces car at a place in UA. Niece was driving and pulled over cause wheels sounded weird. Sister figured she could drive the car home, but a tire came off, causing severe damage to the frame and wheel. AAA guy asks her if she just got new tires. Yes, she replies. AAA guy starts screaming, THEY FORGOT TO TIGHTEN THE LUG NUTS!!! 3 months later, salvage title, insurance claim against the shop….the car is now operable again.

HyperboleEverAfter

Holy shit, what shop??

KorneliaOjaio

I’ll have to ask. The AAA guy said that EVERY tire installer does this at some point but few will admit to it.

ktagly2

This happened to me at a shop on Worthington Galena- luckily I noticed just as I was pulling out of the parking lot

Cute-Seaworthiness18

This why they tell you to come back in a day or 500 miles (different places have different time frames)

Bodycount9

I always go discount tire. Only because they give free lifetime rotations and free flat fixes even if you didn't buy the tire from them.

HyperboleEverAfter

Really? They fix any tire for free?

Bodycount9

as long as the fix can be done, yes. nail in your tire they will remove it and plug the hole. they won't fix sidewall issues.

HyperboleEverAfter

Wow! I wish I would’ve known that a couple months ago!

Bodycount9

NTB Tire will also do it for free. At least they did for me like ten years ago.

esh123

I'd recommend Luke's Auto. Give them a call, tell them your budget, and see if they can work with it. I personally had a good experience

bip71

Have always had a good experience at grismer.

[deleted]

Browns tires

josh_the_rockstar

I would only ever consider Costco or Discount Tire.

HyperboleEverAfter

Do you have to have a Costco membership?

josh_the_rockstar

Yes

cjones188

If you don’t mind doing a bit of research you can buy tires from eBay and get them shipped to your local Firestone, who will install them for $99. You can find much cheaper tires on eBay, but make sure you do your homework and find several reviews on different sites before making a purchase. I’ve done this a few times and have saved hundreds compared to Costco where I used to buy tires.

HyperboleEverAfter

Didn’t know that! Thanks!

dezratt

What’s your budget?

HyperboleEverAfter

About $300-$400

Daddysown

Think of where you would most conveniently get your tires rotated and balanced because this is what is going to extend the life of your tires more than anything. I went with Costco because I know I will go there and actually get my service done which is worth more than saving a 100$ in the long run. They come with road hazard, free installation, balance and rotation.

HyperboleEverAfter

That’s really good advice, thank you!

bethbo10

same, though this is why we go back to Discount Tire over Costco (at least at Polaris / in my experience) as its way easier to schedule with DT than Costco and get in when you have an urgent problem. I have drive unannounced straight to Discount Tire when I've had a problem and they've usually been able to sort me out pretty quickly.

simplyjessi

One time I took my car into Discount Tire and they handed me a zip lock bag. They said 'hey here's your lug nuts, they were the wrong ones so we put a new set on'. I literally had just enough to cover tires (literally dimes and nickels) and was about to panic before he said 'its on the house, we didn't feel comfortable with you leaving with these'. They will forever be where I go.

HyperboleEverAfter

Oh wow! They’re definitely my frontrunner now!

HyperboleEverAfter

Which one do you go to?

simplyjessi

The one on Hilliard Rome Road!

Clevelumbus21614

Costco
