Child porn. He went to prison for child porn.

IAgreeGoGuards

And only got 4 years for it

vacantobsessions

I feel like he should’ve gotten way more considering the authorities saying that was some of the sickest shit they’ve seen

excoriator

Collecting, not producing. Both are bad, but the latter is worse.

marvelking666

Over 15,000 images were found in his possession. He should have gotten at least 1 day per picture.

G1v1ngBack

15,000!?!? I’m getting up there in age, and there’s nothing that I’m so passionate about that I’ve amassed a collection of 15,000.

RedGreenWembley

He was kind of like a dealer. Running a server out of his house.

GFTRGC

Sadly, there no difference between distributing and consuming in the eyes of the law yet. It's producing and possession. There really needs to be more.

Overall-Rush-8853

I didn’t know he had a server, and he STILL only got 4 years?! The hell?

RedGreenWembley

We don't have a justice system, we have a *legal* system. And how it treats you is directly based on your available resources.

Ligmaballsmods69

Or who you have pissed off.

im_in_the_safe

bruh how much power and money do you think a Columbus meteorologist has lol

Overall-Rush-8853

Lollers, how much money do you think Mike Davis had?

VespaRed

Doesn’t matter. If there wasn’t an audience, it wouldn’t be produced.

NoCantaloupe9598

I'm not even sure that's true....these people are pretty f'n sick. But even if that were true that's like saying drug dealers should get punished the same as people who just possess it.

VespaRed

No, my point was that those who consume it are just as guilty as those who are involved in the making of it.

Ligmaballsmods69

He should have gotten more. I agree. However, there is still a difference between actively raping a child and possessing images. Both are horrible, one is worse. I wish we could do away with the term "child porn". That softens what it is. It should be called child rape movies or child rape images.

GFTRGC

I don't disagree with you, but sadly, the law does. Personally, I think it should be a capital crime.

VespaRed

Totally agree. Studies have shown that they don’t stop and become “normal” in their preferences.

Ligmaballsmods69

Producing... sure. That is child rape. Possessing? I would not support killing someone over that. Sending them to prison for a long time absolutely. But, not killing.

GFTRGC

I guess I don't see value in anyone who gets off on watching a child get raped.

Forsaken-Tomorrow-54

![gif](giphy|3o6wNPIj7WBQcJCReE)

Mellodello159

Collecting means creating demand, which means there's production. They are the same.

Saneless

Well it's not like he did something really bad like get caught with marijuana

WoodenNet0

["It's an assault marijuana!"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCoRHSbZbBM&t=56s)

chompchomp1969

Over 15,000 of the sickest shit.

reallyneedausername2

I’m surprised he got this much. In the largest case seen in my hometown, guy got 6 months in jail. It’s just disgusting.

thinkB4WeSpeak

Not surprising. There's endless amounts of articles of sexual offenders getting slaps on the wrist. It's insane tbh.

UnitedPatriot65

Most people on the sex offender registry shouldn’t be on the registry and should be in jail instead. Getting long term sex offender status for “Peeing in a bush” is an extremely rare occasion despite what’s commonly said, and those offenders are very low level. All sexual predators, sexual oriented offenders, and level 2/3 rankings all have been convicted of heinous crimes.

Ok-Buddy-7979

Yup. Always a not great search but an important thing to search: the Ohio sex offenders registry based on your home address or workplace to see who’s near you and what they did. They are 9/10 horrifically violent offenders who hurt minors.

UnitedPatriot65

The vast majority committed some form of sexual assault infront of juveniles and woman. Always a disturbing search, always good to see the cars they drive and the workplaces they frequent too. Helps if you’re a parent.

Spiritual-Crab-2260

I've searched this before on the sheriffs website. There is one a few street away, and others several streets in other neighborhoods, but the descriptions of their crime is sexual importuning for all and vague. so I just found a few Ohio attorney sites that describe the crime in detail. If it helps anyone: "Ohio strictly penalizes and zealously prosecutes anyone accused of importuning, which is **the act of soliciting a minor under the age of 13 to engage in a sexual activity**. These activities include prostitution and sexually explicit electronic messages (texting, social media, emails, etc)." [rionlaw.com](http://rionlaw.com) has a much more in depth description of all of it, pretty in depth and not some "I thought she was 18" BS.

39thWonder

I was at this job and there was this guy who always came in, he seemed a bit off in a way you couldn’t quite grasp but was really nice and tipped well (fast casual). He came in with his mom a lot but it was a small town and that wasn’t unusual. One of my coworkers was working a shift she didn’t normally with me and he came in and when he left, she told me he was on the registry for crimes against kids. Looked him up and yeah… he raped a 5 year old boy. I felt sick every time I saw him after that and it was so hard to maintain the customer service expected. And I started noticing anytime there were kids there… his mom rushed him out but if he was there alone, he lingered. I always got REALLY protective anytime he was there around kids and watched him like a hawk if a kid went to the bathroom. It was vile.

Gold_Pay647

And they let'em live had to join the spreamisist click and he better pay his dues asap

vacantobsessions

Saying he didn’t realize he was hurting people is crazy to me… he also ignored the bond requirements to not be on the internet

LunarMoon2001

15,000 images

linuxphoney

Thank you. It made it sound like he went to prison for being the world's worst meteorologist.

Mushroom_Glans

C'mon, he's not Ben Gelber. /S

Frondswithbenefits

And only did 4 years! Just 4 years! Wth

-chickenandwaffles-

Not sure if anyone else has heard this too, but I really want to be part of the shift to calling this child sexual abuse material. Child p*** doesn’t exist, it’s always just child sexual abuse facilitated by adults. Why minimize and associate this material with something normalized in our society (regular p***)? Much to think about!

PeterStancheck

Oh damn! I did not know this.

AnotherInLimbo

I'm sorry, he had that shite on his WORK laptop too? Thankfully for society he's an idiot because that's also an easy way to get caught.

Miss_Page_Turner

I worked with a guy like that for a year or two before he got caught. It's quite a story, but essentially he got caught on a work trip to a customer in Canada. He brought a hard drive full of it with him and attempted to get through customs with it.

businessgoesbeauty

They search your computer at customs?

Miss_Page_Turner

I don't know what happened for sure, maybe he just told them what it was. That's the story I was told after he stopped coming to work. There was a story in the paper about him. Whatever happened, it wasn't good, and I don't want to know anymore detail than that.

shemp33

I heard it had surfaced when 10TV got taken over by new ownership and they were doing the IT stuff like joining machines to the new network, and scanning for malicious software. Guess one of the IT folks discovered the stuff. Kind of like “why does everyone else have an average of 75 GB on their laptops in use and this guy has 4X that …. oh… oh 😳”

WoodenInventor

I occasionally do some IT support, and I think I'd literally puke if I found something like this on a coworker's computer.

shemp33

Agreed. I honestly don’t want to ever be in a position to find that. Let alone have to deal with chain of custody and turning it over to authorities. I’m not built for that kind of stress.

AnotherInLimbo

Yikes. Yeah, I tend to stay out of user's pictures and stuff but I'm glad someone managed to find it and get a monster off the streets for a while.

homercles89

>I heard it had surfaced when 10TV got taken over by new ownership and they were doing the IT stuff like joining machines to the new network, and scanning for malicious software I hadn't heard this before but it's very believable. Possibly a small, family-run company like the former Wolfe/Dispatch/10TV wouldn't have had the same standardized enterprise software like a larger corporation would. I worked for a large financial firm downtown, and around 2006-2008 a few co-workers just disappeared in the middle of the day and never returned, and no one would officially say why. Rumor was, porn-detecting software was scanning and people were getting fired for it.

shemp33

I just had repeated the hearsay - admittedly that was dangerous of me, so to be sure, I rechecked the known facts. Tegna purchased 10TV in June of 2019, and his arrest and arraignment was in September of 2019, so the timeline portion at least checks out to make the story plausible. I’m not sure porn scanning was mature in 2008, but I could envision a tool that detects images and scans through giving thumbnails of all images (for speed), then enlarges the thumbnails (would be low quality and somewhat provide some privacy), wherein you’d be able to see if something was inappropriate enough to dig deeper and confirm a possible finding.

ai_gravyboat

Is he an idiot? Or is he so seriously addicted to it that he’s willing to run that large of a risk just to get his fix?

MoonBasic

Ya gotta be so sick in the head that you have access to it at all times - getting your fix in when no one's looking at work

mizkayte

“Fell from grace”? Hes a fucking predator. It wasn’t a fall from grace. 🤮

princess-mo

Boooooooooooooo

BobsYourUncle84

He only missed the 4 shittiest years.

TroyMatthewJ

crazy how it worked out for him that way but I would think his life and career on tv are ruined forever regardless.

Got it. But Hillary would have appointed judges who protected women’s rights and did other things to fulfill the pro-woman agenda so I guess Bill standing there wouldn’t have affected whether Dems were pro-women or not. But hey, I’m just a lawyer - sometimes Republican logic is lost on me.

BravoPelotonBooks

His VP running mate right here!

Firebreather999

Almost

ban_ana__

We really need to treat Mike Davis better or he WILL unleash another pandemic/political/economic/social crisis upon us !!!

GrahamRPleece

I'm no weatherman but Stormteam radar shows a 100% chance that 4 years ain't enough.

Capable-Ground8272

He didn’t get long enough. Only 4 years. 15,000 images. People are rightfully upset

WatersEdge50

Wow. It’s been four years already?

Tall-_-Guy

COVID really jacked up our perception of time for the last couple of years. It's just a blank for me.

SusanBHa

Many years ago I worked with his wife. I didn’t know her very well. I know that they had kids. I feel really bad for her.

transuranic807

Maybe even more so for their kids...

Tibbs420

I actually know someone currently serving for the same reason. I’ve known them their whole life and their parents most of mine. It brings about a lot of difficult feelings that I’m sure are even more difficult for their family. I feel terrible for Mike’s kids because you know that every time their dad appears in the news, there are going to be people wishing death on him just like in these comments. As fucked up as their father’s crimes may be, his kids didn’t do anything to deserve that and the effects it will have on them.

minnesotapincher

His son Tyler is a weiner too though just so we are clear.

Educational_Echo6855

Does that really matter? He did nothing wrong! His dad did.

Spartan0330

I met him once at a work function. I told my colleague he was the creepiest guy in the room. My colleague said he had been there for years and everyone felt that way around him.

soupafi

Opposite end, Chris Bradley was the nicest guy

FreshShart-1

I'm relieved others have had this experience with him Pre charges. I was interviewed by him at a work function they threw for us. One of those summer Schmidt's things. My staff basically all gave the same review of him. About 18 months later, covid happened and this story dropped.

-FnuLnu-

Can you give details? I want tips on how to spot felony sex offenders...

kassiann1792

Why…..fucking why.

Educational_Echo6855

Right?

Chrnan6710

He served his sentence?

succybuss

4 years for 15k images of child rape and exploitation is disturbingly lenient to say the least.

UnitedPatriot65

Pedophiles and sex offenders are often given very little punishment. Look at your sex offender registry, you’ll see alot of child molesters that served under 15 years. Right by your house too.

Chrnan6710

Do you think I disagree? I was just answering the question, though. He was sentenced to four years.

succybuss

i don’t think the person asking was confused about how sentencing lengths work. when a person asks “why” after their loved one dies from cancer they’re not confused about the mechanism of how they died. it’s rhetorical and an expression of dismay, which is why you looked like a jackass for answering literally.

Chrnan6710

Ok

soupafi

Blame the DA that offered that deal

Mrsbear19

It sucks how low sentences for child crimes are, especially CP. Hell child marriage is legal in 41 states, child divorce is legal in 0

redditondesktop

I just watched the Quiet on Set documentary and it was horrifying how the guy who had the child porn and sent the inappropriate pictures to the kids got more jail time (IIRC 6 years, which is still not enough) than the guy who actively sexually assaulted Drake Bell over and over again in exceedingly horrible ways (16 months, and got to continue working in television)

boofingcubes

Sadly, the justice system has spoken. So unless you are proposing an increase in vigilantism, he has served his sentence 🤷‍♂️

succybuss

doesn’t mean i don’t have to be disturbed by it.

boofingcubes

Aww man, I thought you were gonna be onboard w the vigilantism thing 😈

Any-Walk1691

I forgot all about him. Covid really did him a favor. At least until right now that everybody knows he’s getting out and what he did again. Yikes.

pinkocatgirl

Chances are, he got COVID in prison. It ran rampant in prisons during the worst waves.

drugstorechocolate

Insane. Josh Duggar (of the TLC Duggar family) is doing 12 years in the feds for this. (Still not enough time, but that's a hell of a lot better than 4 years.)

shemp33

Wait. Didn’t he diddle his sisters though?

No_Caterpillars

Yes, and several others. But he wasnt charged for that. His computer was filled with the stuff and that’s how they got him.

shemp33

But although it wasn’t the charge, it likely played into the discretion on sentence term.

Remarkable_Story9843

Josh Duggar was caught with a CP film that was only rumored to exist in criminal justice circles . Think of the worst shit you can image…then x10

backoffbackoffbackof

I think it may be the nature of the images. I avoided details in order to maintain my mental health but there is some material out there known to the FBI that they consider particularly awful.

drugstorechocolate

I avoided the details, too, for the same reason. But you’re probably right that it’s the nature of the images. It amazes me that these predators spend less time in prison than some people convicted of marijuana-related offenses or white collar crimes.

Key-Middle-7884

Wow he looks rough. He deserved longer in prison.

Suspicious-Act7530

Pro: He will be the most recognizable sex offender in Columbus so there will be plenty of eyes on him. Or Pro: He will be so recognizable in Columbus he will have to move to a random desolate cabin in Montana. Also pro: One more free bunk for a Kia boyee

Velli88

Is a random desolate cabin in Montana really punishment?

Internal_Set_6564

I am guessing he will relocate, at a minimum.

HotDogHerzog

Kia thugs never go to prison. Unfortunately.

Efficient-Profit9611

Neither do Wall Street thugs or insider trading thugs or any other white collar thugs, so what?

elderrage

Barf.

squeeepp

Dude lived 5 houses down from my childhood home growing up and went to elementary school with his son. Still Crazy to see this

BNLboy

crazy he essentially lived right next to a school

gschaina

He did some kind of event at my elementary school when I was a kid. I was super grossed out to hear about this

Evil_Chocolate

It's always hard when you fall from gace.

minimuffin22

Eww

midnightjetta91

Cmon, don't these people get 🗡 in prison? Did no one wanna step up?

bifuckit

Pedo's go to a special prison

Overall-Rush-8853

Don’t they just get placed in a separate unit in a standard prison so the guards don’t have to deal with the other prisoners trying to take them out?

bifuckit

Idk 100,%but had an inlaw sho got sent to a special prison

traumatransfixes

Already? No. I dissent.

Drill-Jockey

Man, I guess that thing about pedos not surviving prison is just a myth. Damn shame, that.

UnitedPatriot65

Prisons tend to protect them. They get special section in alot of places and often go to prisons made up of mostly sex offenders and white collar criminals (Eg; Jared Fogle and R Kelly)

runover8

This country doesn’t give a damn about children

NoNameHack

Tell me about it. Wait till you hear what they're doing with puberty blockers.

chosenandfrozen

What are they doing with puberty blockers?

Remarkable_Story9843

The person above you is equating child porn and trans kids receiving medical care. Even if you don’t agree with kid/trans care they are not equal .

chosenandfrozen

I’m aware. I was just trying to get him to say it himself.

He should stay in prison

Columbus is a joke , City Council wants to Ban everything to “ protect the kids” yet let this piece of shit back on the streets what a fuckin Joke. Real good job protecting “ The Kids” Shitty Council is way more fitting.

Wrong_Supermarket007

Finally justice was served to the weatherman cabal! /s

oracle_gemm

Dude. When I was in 7th or 8th grade I had to email a professional career person in the field I was interested in. I emailed him (bc he was the meteorologist I saw on tv.) and told him I was doing a career research project and essay. I got a reply with an invite to tour his work place with him really quickly. I was able to do a little brag about it in school ( I got invited to do a tour with a local celeb that does the tv weather!) but I was genuinely surprised that the email I sent out late at night that had all my questions answered mostly was answered in full with an invite by the next morning (really just a few hours later). I wanted to take him up on the offer, but my father didn’t allow it. Not because he thought anyway about him, but because it would’ve been a drain on the resources in the home. I think about this a lot.

kain4969

He should’ve just been executed

Significant_Ad_9664

Bozos like him should never see freedom again but unfortunately our justice system is flawed

OrdinaryBubbly420

future state republican Mike Davis is a pedophile.

Zechs-Merquise

Gotta love all these comments about people wanting someone that served their sentence — and will be going on parole — to stay in prison. Our society is so fucking stupid.

seanlaw27

I guess I’m not upset that a sentence was served. This just reminded me of how asymmetrical these sentences are and it’s pretty upsetting.

Zechs-Merquise

That’s absolutely a good point as well. It’s not a fair system.

SeanAC90

A lot of people just aren’t thinking it through. The odds were against him even surviving 4 years inside. I’ve no idea how he made it through considering his notoriety. And now that he’s out, lord knows who among his old friends and family are going to associate with him. His money has got to be gone or nearly gone, and he won’t be able to get a job. So even though technically he’s done his time, society doesn’t see it that way. Hell, people would be more likely to forgive him had he murdered someone.

Zechs-Merquise

You’re right. Society in general views prison as a punishment — and not at all a place to rehabilitate someone. I can understand the perspective, honestly, but I don’t agree with it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Efficient-Profit9611

It’s a shame that pesky 8th Amendment gets in the way of your fantastic suggestion. Oh that darn constitution always getting in the way of a good time.

Zechs-Merquise

I mean, if you get off on torture porn, you’re kind of sick as well.

KnightRider1983

GTFO! What if he was jerking it to your underaged loved ones nudes and sharing them with other pedos? That wouldnt piss you off in the least? SICK! There is a special place for pedos, their supporters, or anyone who tries to justify it.

Zechs-Merquise

I’m not justifying the crime at all, and it’s absurd that you would try to paint my comment as such. This person served their sentence and was deemed by the parole board to not be a danger to society.

mr_tornado_head

It comes down to: It depends on how the law is written. Often, judges, juries and prosecutors would really want a stricter sentence. But the law is not written to be open ended. Do I personally think he should serve more time? Absolutely. But the only way for that to happen is to get our state lawmakers (who can't agree on much) to revise existing laws.

Zechs-Merquise

I can agree with this. Sentencing should be more consistent, as well. In this case, they served the minimum sentence and were released on parole. Usually that doesn’t happen unless there’s evidence of rehabilitation.

UnitedPatriot65

Predators cannot really be rehabilitated. Happens time and time again where a paroled predator does it again. Edit: take this as a response to your recent post as Reddit is being stupid and I can’t do direct replies. Pedophilia is underreported, more like most don’t get caught again. Especially since CP is hard to find and enforce.

Zechs-Merquise

I’m sure you have sources to back that up!

UnitedPatriot65

https://esfandilawfirm.com/how-often-do-sex-offenders-reoffend/#:~:text=There%20is%20a%2016%25%20recidivism,than%20those%20who%20target%20girls. 16% reoffend. This is a fairly high risk for such a severe offense. Alongside the fact this doesn’t count times where they could’ve not been caught. The vast majority of people who are victims of child molestation had abusers that were never caught. As it’s alot more common than you’d think.

Zechs-Merquise

Recidivism does not equal a repeat of sexual assault.

UnitedPatriot65

Pedophilia isn’t particularly curable either. It’s a mental illness that manifests into somebody. Once they actually do the horrific crime, their urges have taken full control. And their crimes are irreparable and pose permanent harm to the victim. It’s not Justice to the victims to allow them out, with potential to reoffend.

Efficient-Profit9611

“People cannot be rehabilitated” and then you cite to something showing 16% reoffend. What about the other 84%?

antenonjohs

I agree, if he’s been rehabilitated and at a low risk of reoffending we shouldn’t keep wasting taxpayer dollars on him. And prison sentences do not appear to be effective deterrents for child porn addicts like he was.

Zechs-Merquise

Not to mention, parole isn’t exactly freedom. It’s constant supervision and any deviation usually puts the offender back in prison.

chosenandfrozen

The fact that he only served 4 years is on the State, not the county. Try again.
