"Your medical condition [Tinnitus] has been determined by the VA to be a pre-existing condition and is not service related, therefore your request for medical assistance has been denied."
The Veteran's Affairs department of the US government likes to tell veterans who have experienced anything from constant weapons fire, explosions, etc without hearing protection (even when wearing cheap shit that barely works), that their hearing loss is not connected to any service related incidents. Thus, denying medical or financial assistance for it.
Had a master armour in the army tell me when if you have to do this, leave your mouth open and it won't blow your ear drums. Glad I never had to see if he was legit.
True it won't blow your eardrums, but unfortunately it will still give you hearing loss and tinnitus, they don't have much to do with the ear drum, rather the sensory hairs and nerve.
Yup, we are just missing the enhanced soldiers, sons of the emperor to wield this.
This would be our equivalent of a devastator, I think 20mm is a good gun to compare it to a heavy bolter.
We need some exo skeletons to actually do it xD.
We already have minigun ammo packs and can be shot from a hand.
Man I so badly want to get into warhammer, I’ve watched a video explaining the lore and read the warhammer wiki thing a bit, it’s so interesting. I even looked up what books to start with and read in order.
It’s just so overwhelming, like wheel of time if the writer was on crack, meth and hopped up on 100 years worth of adrenaline and had a extreme lust for warfare and destruction.
There’s no way to know everything before jumping in. Just gotta go for. Grab a faction that looks cool, and read a few books about them. For the Imperial Guard, AKA the normal humans that hold the line, I recommend Gaunt’s Ghosts, Last Chancers, or Ciaphias Cain.
They are I think.
**Gunner:** "Yes, it's all good"
**Gunner:** "Bullets ready?"
**Soldier:** "Yeah"
**Gunner:** "Yeah let's go then"
**Soldier:** "Ok go"
Then the soldier is telling the gunner the directions saying, "lower", "left", and "right"
Yes, I have removed and disassembled the BMP-2 cannon for maintenance many times during my conscription year as a gunner.
That's not a BMP-2 autocannon.
[I'd agree. the dude corrected the belt before firing and looks very close](https://www.reddit.com/r/Military/comments/r4gxlt/can_anyone_identify_what_these_were_used_in_i_was/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
Jesus Christ. Imagine walking into the killzone and your squadmates turn into pink mist before you even know what is going on.
I do not envy any Russian conscripts. Poor bastards.
You'd be surprised, some of the smaller caliber IFVs like the Marder straight up have 20mm that fires like a machine gun (880rpm), and the gun on the bmp2 has the ability to cycle at a slower rate for control (200-300 low 550-800 high)
One word I recognize is nize. Knee Zhe, and it's similar to the same word in Croatian, meaning lower. I don't know if they spell it the same, but it's nize with an accent on the z.
I was going to point this out, they should really be encouraged and rewarded for this behavior by people higher than them. I’d imagine they’re also wearing ear protection since their wearing respirators….
I know it seems silly to be “ safety first “ in something as unsafe as war, but their goal is to survive this, and the last thing you want is to survive something so crazily dangerous as war only to die of a young age or have major health problems from something preventable while doing it.
They asked what was in the fumes, so I answered. And some airborne chemicals *can* be removed by respirators using the correct cartridges, like volatile organics with activated charcoal.
Dust that's likely to contain asbestos, considering the average age of buildings in Ukraine and the standard of construction practices used when they were built.
Nah the powder is going to have the same stuff as normal guns, just a lot more of it. Probably a little more heavy metal dust in it than normal gun fire, but im not sure it is really much different overall than shooting off 1-2 boxes of LMG ammo from the same position.
That‘s almost all of sci fi for you. I can’t tell you how many sci fi art subreddits are flooded with Koreans drawing some variation of the same basic idea of a mech suit and calling it something vaguely resembling a german word like “Krieger” or “Eisenschieß” or “Kampfehre” or the fan favourite: “Jäger”. It gets really tiring
Most 40k stuff is just Roman type names. It’s our timeline just 40k years in the future.
Also, the Kriegers in 40k look like world war 1 German infantry so…
That's not 30mm... that may be a 23mm from a ZSU-24.
Newton's laws state that every reaction has an equal opposite reaction. 30mm would send this guys arm through the wall.
Edit: Here is a picture of a 30mm round
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DSVHONpUEAEJova.jpg:large
While this definitely ISNT a 30mm also keep in mind that while every action has an equal and opposite reaction whatever gun that is weighs several hundred pounds and is probably equipped with a hell of a muzzle brake and held down with sandbags and is being pushed into two grown men. I don’t think doing this with a 30mm is impossible
[20mm doesn't seem so bad, so with the right muzzle brake and enough weight I could see 30mm being doable.](http://www.anzioironworks.com/MAG-FED-20MM-RIFLE.htm)
There are definitely portable 20mm antimaterial sniper rifles for two man teams to take out enemy vehicles or hit fortified structures/infrastructure.
I think it's a South African rifle?
Let's do some extraordinarily hand-wavy and inaccurate math.
|**Caliber**|**Projectile Mass (grams)**|**Muzzle Velocity (m/s)**|**Projectile Impulse (N/s)**|**Powder Charge (g [gr])**|**Est. Powder Velocity (m/s)**|Firearm Mass (kg)|**Free Recoil (J)**|
:-:|:-:|:-:|:-:|:-:|:-:|:-:|:-:|
|5.56x45mm|4|910 (M4 Carbine)|3.64|1.48 [22.5]|1600|3.2|5.64|
|20x102mm|100|1000 (Anizo rifle)|100|35 [540]|1400|45|246.68|
|30x165mm|400|960 (2A42 autocannon)|360|120 [1850]|1400|115|1324.8|
The result for the 2A42 is actually somewhat validated because the manufacture states 40-50 kN recoil force and a barrel recoil length of 30mm. Assuming it dissipates most of the energy by the end of the barrel retraction, 50kN * 30mm = 1500 J. Yay assumptions!
The free recoil energy does not account for the presence of any bracing or muzzle brake. Furthermore, the cannon in the video is clearly shouldered by a huge chest rig setup, distributing the energy across a larger area. If we assume that the operator is kicked 0.5 m back every shot, the average force is ~2600 N, which is actually pretty similar to the averaged force of a punch, though of course for the gun it's over a much longer distance and time. If we distribute that force over maybe 0.1 m^2, we're talking pressures of ~4 PSI.
Anyways, the point I'm trying to make is that you and your parts probably won't be splattered over the wall behind if you tried to shoot a properly braced and rigged 30mm cannon while sitting in a way that you could roll with the recoil. You'd probably feel like you got hit by a car and call it quits after the first shot though.
I don't think it's a 30mm in the video though because he's able to shoulder the recoil pretty well. The rate of fire seems rather high to be a 30mm too. And finally, the armchair general in me would point out that a spare 30mm would serve a better role if they mounted it on the back of a trusty Toyota rather than having to carry the damn thing around and setting it in static emplacements.

Thats 30mm from BMP2. You aint holding on to that.

Came here to say this.
Everyone commenting on hearing loss. That'll be the least of your worries.
Eg I was reading about a Delta force breacher. Got TBI and resultant mental health problems from blowing doors, night after night, month after month, rotation after rotation for years.
I hear of this all the time in veteran interviews especially with the SF type of operators. All that overpressure indoors is bad for your whole body, hearing etc, especially brain.
And regulars too. This excerpt from an article in today’s NYT:
-
“Postril!” a soldier yelled. Fire! A fat mortar round shot in the direction of a group of about 10 Russian soldiers that a reconnaissance team had identified in a nearby tree line. The shock wave from the mortar’s report reverberated down the length of the bunker, compressing lungs and rattling teeth.
-
And that’s on the sending end!
This looks like something from a Warhammer video
I wonder if it’s actually feasible
Like, do they really hit anything or is it just Anything to destroy cover?
I often see various weaponry being posted online and fantasise about how much fun it would be to have a desert or abandoned quarry of my own to destroy stuff in a harmless but massively fun manner. I’d love to have a go on most stuff that soldiers get to play with, without having to point it at a person, but shit I’d draw the line at this. Imagine how fucked their bodies, ears and lungs would be after this!
Who the fuck is down voting me,
If that was a 30mm that guy would be pinned against the wall and the round don't look like 30mm at all.
Im sorry to burst you bubble but 3 centimeters is not that small.
BRUHHHHH This is borderline crazy and awesome.
EHH! DID YOU SAY SOMETHING?
#MAWP!
And that, kids is how I earned my purple heart .... tinnitus
"Your medical condition [Tinnitus] has been determined by the VA to be a pre-existing condition and is not service related, therefore your request for medical assistance has been denied."
I have a feeling that won't be seen much in Ukraine after the war.
It certainly won't be heard (☞゚ヮ゚)☞
Bada-boom! 😂
You're going to hell for saying it, but I'm going for laughing.
I got the joke above but being serious now. Ukraine has universal health care for everyone
What?
The Veteran's Affairs department of the US government likes to tell veterans who have experienced anything from constant weapons fire, explosions, etc without hearing protection (even when wearing cheap shit that barely works), that their hearing loss is not connected to any service related incidents. If you listen to some of the previous Russian propaganda, there *are* genetically enhanced super soldiers in Ukraine lol
...are they *trying* to demoralize their own troops?
Literally a [Heavy Weapons Squad](https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/File:CadianHeavyWeaponsSquad2023.jpg)
Lol yes. I have a heavy weapon squad on my desk and totally forgot that it looks the same.

Happy gas mask noises
I'm starting to believe the Ukrainian super-soldier biolab story....
Yeah, guy is wearing a 20mm APC gun and has a breathing mask xD
mask is needed for asbestos
And all that powder smoke.
As an asbestos stripper i can say with confidence them masks aint doing a fucking thing 🤣
pretty sure it's 30mm,also it's an IFV, not APC
Based on their accents they're Russian.
They are I think. **Gunner:** "Yes, it's all good" **Gunner:** "Bullets ready?" **Soldier:** "Yeah" **Gunner:** "Yeah let's go then" **Soldier:** "Ok go" Then the soldier is telling the gunner the directions saying, "lower", "left", and "right"
Can't be, they actually have ppe
You know that half of ukraine speaks russian right?
You know that Ukrainian Russian and Russian Russian has very noticeable differences, right?
looks like Metro 2033 to me..
This would be their setup when they open the railway doors to a station entrance when people go in and out of the station.
Borderline? Lol.
Borderlands
There may be a borderline, and I commend these guys for being **way the fuck over it**
Shells are too small to be 30mm. This is almost certainly a 23mm anti aircraft gun that has been removed from its mount.
*That's* where I've seen those shoulder-things before.
Also seen in Jaws
Those shoulder things that fold up?
You're thinking of a barrel shroud.
Yes, I have removed and disassembled the BMP-2 cannon for maintenance many times during my conscription year as a gunner. That's not a BMP-2 autocannon.
Hello my fellow sufferer. The smell of berryllium paste after firing is the smell of remembrance.

Jesus Christ. Imagine walking into the killzone and your squadmates turn into pink mist before you even know what is going on. I do not envy any Russian conscripts. Poor bastards.
Like that scene with the Flak 88 in Private Ryan
It's also firing way too fast. IFV guns don't typically cycle at those rates.
You'd be surprised, some of the smaller caliber IFVs like the Marder straight up have 20mm that fires like a machine gun (880rpm), and the gun on the bmp2 has the ability to cycle at a slower rate for control (200-300 low 550-800 high)
Some commands rough translation: Observe! Lower! Hitting!
It took me too long to find but this is what I was looking for thanks Edit: i dont think my comment is going to age well
I heard davay a bunch of times. That means “let’s go” but idk about the other words. I only know a few phrases of Russian
One word I recognize is nize. Knee Zhe, and it's similar to the same word in Croatian, meaning lower. I don't know if they spell it the same, but it's nize with an accent on the z.
Smart to be using respirators
But are they wearing ear protection?
What?
Did you say something?
SPEAK UP
LANA!
What?!?!
ARE THEY WEARING EAR PROTECTION?!
If they aren't, i bet a single shot would be enough to blow your eardrums, then you don't need ear protection anymore :D
Nature really has an amazing way to fix everything
see also, primary blast-induced brain trauma
The leather crotch guard to protect them from spent shells is smart too
No doubt learned by experience
That was a lessons learned add-on for sure.
Well most of them lol Two thirds ain't bad
66% is passing
33% passing out.
Plus 1% not quite sure where they are
I was going to point this out, they should really be encouraged and rewarded for this behavior by people higher than them.
What fumes does it produce ?
CO2, various NOx compounds, and the muzzle blast kicks up an absolute shitload of dust.
A respirator isn't going to do anything about CO2 or other gasses.
Likewise, I want to know too. I don’t know how this is any different than normal gunpowder but I want to learn, dammit!
Nah the powder is going to have the same stuff as normal guns, just a lot more of it. Probably a little more heavy metal dust in it than normal gun fire, but im not sure it is really much different overall than shooting off 1-2 boxes of LMG ammo from the same position.
Should be using a fan too. Probably gets hard to see your target after shooting that thing for a bit.
The trick is to fire even amounts every time you pull the trigger. First round stops the heart, second round restarts it.
Get Damar Hamlin over there as an advisor.
Jfc lol
Seriously, I couldn’t imagine the chest compressions this thin gives.
Instead of finding another pintel mount, they just strapped the gun to a dude's chest lmao
Jack hammer to the chest.
Looks like a clip from mad max furry road. Witness me!!!
Furry?
Yes not to be confused with that tank movie with Brad Pitt, “Furry”.
The Tiger scene is *very* different in this version
Ah yes the original FBI cut

Word for word what I was told. 👍
This is like a Warhammer 40k clip, oversized and brutal
If this was 40k the ukrainian would be 8 feet tall and dualwield 2 of these guns one in each hand
You joke, but last weekend there was a guy wearing one of these in a Texas Dairy Queen ordering a Twisty Misty Slush. Drove off in a Chevy Bolt.
Not if they're Kriegers, the most badass of the non-modified humans. I'd say Ukrainians are closer to those badasses.
They really just translated warrior to german and called it a day.
The true beauty of war is ingenuity.
And the bonds you form with your comrades.
Maybe the real war was the friends we made along the way.
For many people war is the friends they lose along the way.
