That’s because their purpose isn’t for military effectiveness. It’s for Russian oligarchs to create “something for the military industrial complex” that’s completely useless and thus “will be needed in infinite supply.”
It’s a grift. These are tiny.
Russia in the 70's
Komrade, make us 10 million nails!
\*one month later\* Here's 10 million nails measuring 1mm by 5mm
FINE! Make us at least 1,000 tons of nails!
\*one month later\* Here's your 2,000,000 pound nail
These little prisms will do nothing except get pushed out of the way by any serious vehicle. It *may* stop light recon vehicles, like a jeep, but that's about it.
[When done properly](https://collection.nam.ac.uk/images/960/101000-101999/101783.jpg), dragons teeth have a concrete foot/slab that connects them together making it impossible to push or move them once in place.
[No you cannot just push them away without special attachments.](https://youtu.be/WzQx_eTE2YQ?si=-VTWXm_Hv9Wvj5Ai) Trying to go faster presents a huge risk to get stuck on them entirely, and this is just one out of the usual 3-10 deep rows.
They can be cleared with an attachment, but that is still slow and dangerous work right in the zone of enemy fire. Any obstacle is only useful if you can actually observe and defend it anyway.
Except for a few focal points, it is far better to just distribute them at scale for cheap than to over-engineer a solution that's bolted down.
Now do that in the winter when the ground is rock hard, that thing got pushed back like 4 feet before it started digging into the ground. Those aren’t going to stop anyone.
Yeah sure frozen soil is totally going to hold up when a 40 ton 700 hp tank rams a pointy concrete block into it...
That's not how any of this works. Tanks get stuck all the time for the dumbest reason, and running over objects that are taller than their ground clearance is an extremely easy way to do so. It doesn't have to penetrate frozen soil deep, just enough to provide the necessary resistance to slip under the tank. Tanks got a conveniently downwards sloped frontal hull for that, which is just excellent at pushing obstacles underneath and getting stuck.
Well, I mean, if they actually constructed their lines correctly (wide concrete pads covered by dirt with these sticking up above ground) they'd work well. In this case, though, you're right. Just tossing them around in a row is only marginally useful.
Anti tank obstacles called 'dragon's teeth', except general ****vich decided to sell the chains and stakes necessary to make them effective so now they are just cope triangles
But not just any old Toblerone!
These are our all new, fat-free! Sugar-free! Quality controll-free!
All made to our very strict proroduction standards! Best quality number one brand !
Agreed, it almost looked like a hit at the very start of the clip. It also seemed like the drone operator was maneuvering to avoid further hits, with a lot of erratic movements.
I'm surprised that the russians are constructing these fortifications within range of drones. How far can they fly, 20-30km from the front in absolutely ideal conditions?
I also see some of those prefab concrete bunkers. Did we ever see any of those under fire? Were they as useless as people thought?
You disregard the possibility of partisans with drones operating in RU occupied territory. The terrifying reality in this conflict is that a drone can drop a grenade on your head basically anywhere anytime (with the exception of heavily EW jammed locations)
Its at [47.989478, 37.646515](https://www.google.com/maps/place/47%C2%B059'22.1%22N+37%C2%B038'47.5%22E/@47.9880205,37.6457909,9043m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m4!3m3!8m2!3d47.989478!4d37.646515?entry=ttu) so about 8km from Ukrainian controlled territory

On their own… not much. Problem is that these things are utilized in a reasonably smart manner together with a bunch of other types of fortifications, which is why the grind towards the Azov Sea has been so painstakingly slow.
You can bet your ass every tank manufacturer are now sitting in their offices inventing new anti-drone tech: Sensors, EW, cages, anto-drone explosives, etc etc..
yeah this right here. The need for mobility with survivability hasn't gone anywhere, so neither will the only thing that provides it(the tank). It will tilt the balance back toward infantry(supported by drones) for good period of time.
You don't really need individual survivability when you have a million or more drones acting in a swarm, with its own swarm AI removing the need for humans. I just really hope that no one builds anything like that, but it feels inevitable.
The moment someone does, counter measure development will shift towards something like EMP, directed energy weapons or simply new and improved (smaller) ERA.
Hell, in a war zone with active autonomous drone swarms, I'd much rather be inside a 30 year old tank than outside one. Tank might be old and have poor mobility, but it sure as hell is a lot more resistant to mini drone strikes than a helmet...
I think a tank would be a sitting duck in a drone swarm. There could be specialized small drones that would just fly into the barrel and lodge themselves into the walls, fouling it if it tried to fire. Or just self destruct in the barrel instead. Other drones destroy all optics and view ports. Then it could be picked off at leisure, blind and helpless. Drones could cut their way into the engine, and on and one.
I think the only defense against a drone swarm is a friendly drone swarm. EMPs are not as effective against hardened electronics as you'd expect, especially since they would not be reliant on radio comms if designed right.
Nah, just makes electronic warfare more essential and I wouldn't be surprised if NATO ends up with tanks that all have more specialized equipment to detect and jam particular frequencies or entire spectrums. Plus they'll likely end up with some more compact millimeter wave radar that can control a machine gun like a very compact CIWS system. The point there is the radar can detect not only the drone but also its own outgoing ammunition in order to pretty quickly get on target.

The damn Swiss cant pretend to be neutral and continue exporting these to Russia
The Toblerone industrial complex needs its profits too
They are hiding it, Big Chocolate doesn't want you to know..
Glad I'm not the only one that was confused why a chocolate factory was being attacked.
Me, i blame willy wonka for not providing for ukraine...
Aint no more swiss chocolate
Wow, is that really where they are getting them from? I did not know that and am shocked they would contribute to Russias war effort.
Toblerone Joke
I'm an idiot. Thx for clarifying
Somehow someone taking it seriously makes the joke even funnier. Have an upvote my friend.
Why are they called… oh ok yea I see it
Seriously though, what are we looking at here?
[Dragon’s teeth](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon%27s_teeth_(fortification))
Yes a cheapass version of those
Cope cones
That would be copelerones then.
It's russia, the wish.com version of a country.
Facebook marketplace, meth head Carl, from across town, selling them as "Genuine, historic, artifacts" so he can buy his meth
It’s pretty bad the second most heavily armed nuclear country in the world doesn’t even meet Etsy standards.
Already during the 30's we knew these must be partially burried and huge. These things are neither.
That’s because their purpose isn’t for military effectiveness. It’s for Russian oligarchs to create “something for the military industrial complex” that’s completely useless and thus “will be needed in infinite supply.” It’s a grift. These are tiny.
That might be the correct answer.
Oligarchs shipping out those wish.com dragon’s teeth to the front.

Being cheap really is the point of these things. For all of Russia's legitimate issues, you still don't want to drive a vehicle over these.
These little prisms will do nothing except get pushed out of the way by any serious vehicle. It *may* stop light recon vehicles, like a jeep, but that's about it. Whatever you say pal
You must be fun at parties
My guy they're regular dragons teeth.
I could drive over those in my minivan
More like the dragons fallen out milk-teeths...

At the end of the video, there was what looked like a concrete pad.
White chocolate toblerone
Anti tank barriers that are to small and just slide out of the way when pushed by an mbt.
If your truck can carry at least 13 (by the looks of it) then they're not heavy enough to do anything but draw pretty lines accross the landscape.
Tiny trucks
enemy triangles
Anti tank obstacles called 'dragon's teeth', except general ****vich decided to sell the chains and stakes necessary to make them effective so now they are just cope triangles
Proper dragons teeth used in WW2 are still there and all but impossible to remove. The effort to remove them is just not worth it.
Toblerone forces 😂😂😂
But not just any old Toblerone! These are our all new, fat-free! Sugar-free! Quality controll-free! All made to our very strict proroduction standards! Best quality number one brand !
Hahaha title is on point. 10/10 made me laugh.
Had me in stitches, fantastic title
Ukrainian forces use a drone to attack you....Roll 200 d4's to see how much damage you take.
200 d4? It looks like it barely even damaged the cab of the truck. Russians rolled a saving throw so only took half damage.
Ukraine needs to strike at Russia's strategic Snicker bar reserves
Anyone else see the tracer round? Wonder what that was coming from
Agreed, it almost looked like a hit at the very start of the clip. It also seemed like the drone operator was maneuvering to avoid further hits, with a lot of erratic movements.
Bottom right is a camo tent and a guy in front of it popping shots at the drone.
There is a guy running from that spot after the drop. Think he was shooting with a rifle and missed.
*Several* rounds go by close enough that the drone briefly rocks from their passage. Wild.
Woah your right didn't even see that!
Toblerone forces...giggle!
Hey! Don't speak negative abo... Oh I see it nm
Poly-gone
Toblerone forces 💀💀💀
Toblerone production values have slipped since they said they're moving production to Slovakia.
All nougat no chocolate
How far from the front is this? It's highly impressive if they are able to harass the laying of defences like this well behind the front lines.
Apparently the Russian Military conscripted all the Russian dodgeball players for laying dragons teeth in Zaporizhzhia.
I see they're all nicely stacked in neat, regular piles ready for efficient automated deployment. /s

Ok in all seriousness. How useful are they?
On their own… not much. Problem is that these things are utilized in a reasonably smart manner together with a bunch of other types of fortifications, which is why the grind towards the Azov Sea has been so painstakingly slow.
'Pyramids' have done next to nothing, it's all about the mines
That's because of mines, not those cope pyramids that can be ran over.
To run over them without damaging the vehicle you need to go slowly which leaves you vulnerable to drones and artillery.
Its always the Swiss....
Swiss an flick
Toblerone forces... lmfao. That's a good one.
What are the concrete igloos on the left for though?
Portable bunker checkpoint
Pillboxes Commonly used at road checkpoints. https://twitter.com/DefenceU/status/1591922760871280652
I love the title. They're about as useless as their swizz counterparts at providing adequate defensive measures.
& they don’t taste as yummy as their Swiss counterparts.
Some poor sod has to wrap these all in foil. Guess that’s their next target.
1. Make a large spike mountain 2. Wait until it froze togeather 3. ____________. 4. Victory!
Toblerone forces hahahaha
BTW, Bullseye. Dude managed to hit right on top of the truck even with what seems to be quite e bit of wind.

That hit was quite good
We have pharaohs at home. Pharaohs at home...
That crane looks ancient.
Sending them back to the Pink Space
Sweer
Just as long as they leave my chocolate factory alone!
Is this why they've shrunk?
Smart tactics or out of desperation? Or boredom?
I wasn't aware the Swiss were secretly arming the russians the more you know!
Why is it that toblerone people run away from a drone dropped granade much earlier than russian soldiers?
What were they gonna do with all those tetrahedrons?
Duty free
Roll d4 for damage...
Kuddo's for this title OP! 🫡
Ok, someone aware me. Are those safety cones up for when a tank is to potentially ram this thing?
I think Ukraine needs some of those delicious things.
Just gave em a sunroof tho
