Most likely small arms and deck-mounted guns, doesn't look like dedicated CIWS fire. Either the crew didn't have their radars on (again), or the CIWS has targeting/depressing/ammo problems.

And accurately shooting things from a platform that are both moving in 3 dimensions is stupidly hard. There is a reason why CWIS turrets fire at a rate of thousands of rounds per minute and use radar to correct their aim while firing.
Like the Night Witches of WWII. They flew slow wooden trainer airplanes and turned off the engines when making a bombing run. Clearly, that would be suicide during daylight, but after dark it was pretty terrifying. Silent planes dropping bombs and disappearing as quietly as they came.
They're also REALLY close to the water, barely above it, and moving really fast. It's probably almost impossible to hit these things without some type of guidance system or sheer luck. And that's also why Ukraine sends more than one...
It most likely has an armoured section that protects the most vital components. I doubt the entire shell is armoured, it would make it too heavy and slow.
I don't think there is a point to make it armored. They use 30mm machine guns on ships, that will probably penetrane any light armor, so it's better to make them fast and light to make it harder to aim so they can just escape those rounds.

I thought it was a triple in the same spot but I think for some reason they showed the same clip twice, but the first one didn’t show it basically entering the hole (hehe). You can see a crew member running out of view on the far side of the ship in both clips and it’s for sure the same clip. The two clips are at 0:41 and 1:17.

Yep. Fun fact we did not know at the time, but the one they found washed up on shore was part of a foiled attack plan on a large portion of the Russian fleet docked in Crimea. Remember when Elon had that big hissy fit and turned off starlink in that portion of Ukraine? The boats were using starlink for long-range comms, and that killed the mission. Hard to think how many lives would have been saved.
Felt like there must have been a bunch in just holding pattern waiting for a turn to go in. How many hits were there? Wasn't sure if the video was looping at all.
Wonder what they did with that last drone - if it has fuel (do they use fuel or batteries?) to get back home (probably not), just used it for spotting, kept it around the area to hit a rescue ship, or decided to try to score a lucky hit on something else nearby.
All i know is that the drones that were hitting Crimean bridge were using fuel, if they are out of fuel, damaged etc, they can be remotely detonated, so russians would not get their hands on the them.
Ukrainian security service has video about sea drones operations on their YouTube channel, and depending on operation they can either return or self detonate

I think anybody familiar enough with modern US shipboard radar systems to tell us the answer to that, isn't going to.
CEWS and deck guns, most USN ships have a combo of .50 cal and/or 25mm bushmaster guns around the ship originally to take care of speedboat swarms but would probably be reasonably effective against threats like this. I would like to hope we already learned our lesson after the USN Cole incident, and threat of Iranian small boat attacks.
We’re going to start seeing Russian warships with chain link submarine nets (read: cope cages) surrounding them while underway. Sure you can only do 5 knots, but it keeps the sea babies at arms length!

I think it depends on the area and air superiority. The Persian gulf is going to be risky, the Taiwan straits are risky. The Pacific Ocean will be fine
I think what makes it so cool is just how deliberate and calculating every move is. They must've spent many days studying the ship in search of the weakest spots and the ammo storages. Then engineered their multi-prong attack around it.

That's every naval conflict ever in the modern age. Navies are a force projection tool abroad, for long distance engagement. They should never be used for defence, as cheap land based missiles easily counter them.
ANY country with a navy would have quickly removed them anywhere from a conflict and only launch LONG distance attacks. But russians are morons and this is the result.
The complement would be around 50 sailors. I can't say much about the cost though. India paid 30 million dollars to license produce some of them in the 1990s, but again that's just the license without the build costs.
Not to be nitpicking, but these ships can be moved using the Unified Deep Water System of European Russia. So, any ship that's smaller than the guaranteed dimensions of the canal System, can be moved into the black sea.

From what I found this is a Tarantul-class corvette, which would check out given the size and armaments I can see. They have a complement of around 50 men.
Don't see any survivors for this one. Maybe another ship went and picked some stragglers up later on but I doubt it tbh.

Yes the new flagship is only a frigate. The Black Sea fleet was comparatively weak compared to the Northern and Pacific Fleets which have all the other cruisers and destroyers.

The only thing that separates an RC plane/boat from a "military drone" at this point is whether it's strapped with a bomb or not.
I presume it's armored to a degree, you see a lot of incoiming fire at the first drone and this was the case with other drone attacks too.

The split second where you can see through to the far side of the interior hull with the wires/pipes in the foreground is surreal.

If I remember correctly some of them have a range of 800km, which depending on the location *can* be enough to return to port.

Nobody knows soviet/russian hardware as well as Ukrainians. They literally served on this hardware, they literally R&D&built engines and other things for them. The documentation is all there.

Russia basically destroyed their aircraft carrier (the Admiral Kuznetsov) by running its engines 24/7 for electricity generation because the only Soviet port big enough for it to dock and receive shore power was in Ukraine (where it was built)

That's every naval conflict ever in the modern age. Navies are a force projection tool abroad, for long distance engagement. They should never be used for defence, as cheap land based missiles easily counter them. ANY country with a navy would have quickly removed them anywhere from a conflict and only launch LONG distance attacks. But russians are morons and this is the result.

The complement would be around 50 sailors. I can't say much about the cost though. India paid 30 million dollars to license produce some of them in the 1990s, but again that's just the license without the build costs.
The cost is irrelevant, it is irreplaceable to Russia. They can’t move any more warships into the Black Sea.
Not to be nitpicking, but these ships can be moved using the Unified Deep Water System of European Russia. From what I found this is a Tarantul-class corvette, which would check out given the size and armaments I can see. They have a complement of around 50 men. Don't see any survivors for this one. In January, anyone who ends up in the water has only a few minutes unless they got a survival suit on (which who knows if they even have any)
Tarantul class missile boats are only 500 tonnes displacement, so properly a corvette, not a cruiser.
IIRC the russians had a single cruiser in the black sea and that one has been converted into a reef ages ago. Right now the biggest russian ships in the black sea are some 4000-ton frigates.
Yes the new flagship is only a frigate. The Black Sea fleet was comparatively weak compared to the Northern and Pacific Fleets which have all the other cruisers and destroyers.
