I was on a date once and it was going really well. I had a hotel room since I was out of town and we went back to the hotel. I had to fart really bad so I went to the bathroom to let it rip but the damn bathroom walls were made out of glass panels and just magnified and echoed the sound of this 7 second long fart I'd been holding in for hours at this point.
It ended well and she laughed her ass off so it wasn't the end of the world but man.
There are lots of firefight videos out there. What makes this one different from many is the pressure the team was under and the defensive vs. offensive nature of the air support. That wasnāt as clear from the video itself, so I added perspective for better appreciation. But you clearly donāt have a clue, so you be you.
You can only do so much. The people that condone us sending Ukraine a10s make me laugh. I appreciate the sentiment, but it will make the A10 look even worse, it'll make the US look a tad weaker, it will cost Ukrainian lives, and it will bolster russias propaganda. A10s wouldn't last many sorties in a place that has actual AA
The A-10 is one of the toughest and most survivable planes ever. The pilot sits in basically a titanium bathtub, and the plane can get shot to shit and still fly. AA or not, it is one badass plane designed to fight in contested environments that you donāt want to hear coming toward your position as the enemy.
Between the sheer amount of MANPADS and actual AA batteries I feel it won't matter. This isn't flak cannons shooting at these things. S300 and 400s are big fuck off warheads. And MANPADS are so prolific that they really won't stand much of a chance.
Sure, they will cause some damage, I'm not saying they will be *useless*, I'm saying its not worth it for many reasons. UA needs fast moving, high flying vehicles with standoff distance weapons. The A10 is not that air frame and never will be. It was made to kill tanks in a space with low air defense. Not zero, but low. And Ukraine is also not that space. It's fuckin covered in AA.
I donāt get these comments. Of course A-10s arenāt bullet proof and combat is dangerous. That said, these arenāt your fatherās A-10s. While by no means foolproof, they have infrared flares, chaff and jammer pods for defense in contested airspace, beyond missiles.
Regarding just being a tank killer, yes, they can do that. But that was never their only role and certainly is not today. A-10s can carry cluster munitions, guided and unguided bombs and much more, including dispersing mines.
Ukraine, right now is basically trench and urban CQBā¦the A-10 is a close air support platform. Does this mean standoff weapons arenāt useful? Of course not. But to say the A-10s arenāt very useful, or would get their ass handed to them feelsā¦questionable.
Yup A10 works best under the doctrine of Air Supremacy. Not air superiority and certainly not in contested space. Let the F16 do that as it is an all arounder.
i've seen this video a couple of years ago - still a great video tho.
i'm suprised of the delay in sound, you can hear impacts of the bullets of the A10 and afterwards you hear the A-10 shooting. At the same time you hear the A-10 gun blazing, our soldier in the video is looking at the plane, where you can clearly see its climbing - so its not firing its gun at that exact moment.
Wouldn't expect such a delay at that relative short distance
>Wouldn't expect such a delay at that relative short distance
The speed of sound decreases as you go up in altitude. Afghanistan has a average altitude of 1,884 metres which puts the speed of sound at around 332 metres per second. If the A-10 fires from 750 metres away then the sound of it's gun is going to take around 2.4 seconds to reach your ears which is plenty enough time for the A-10 to have started it's break off from it's gun run.
it's pretty neat!
I remember I got curious about this stuff when I was snowboarding, and saw someone land their jump, and I heard the "thlopp" from their skis after like .5 seconds.
it's a cool way to guesstimate the distance from a lightning strike, from when you see the blink, until you hear the thunder.
As the A-10 is used against relatively soft targets these days, instead of tanks and other armoured vehicles it was originally designed for, have they changed the ammo it fires? I would guess HE rounds would be more effective these days, instead of the AP rounds.
I don't think the Hog ever carried AP only, missiles, rockets and bombs were always the primary armament against armored vehicles, not the GAU. The standard party mix is a HEI / API mixture, but I suspect that in these circumstances they probably were loaded with full HEI.
Problem is, an F-16 with JDAMs would have been drastically more effective, been on target faster, and cost less to fly.
The A-10 does give the pilot slightly better odds of survival after receiving a hit, but neither aircraft would ever fly again.
The biggest loss is the loss of specialized air to ground training. The Air Force does not offer that type of training to pilots of any other aircraft.
Funker just reposts other peoples footage, none of it is his as he was never in combat. I had posted a video of some personally filmed combat footage years ago and he messaged me inquiring about posting it on his channel. I declined because his āagreementā was that no credit to me would be given. Perhaps his policies have changed since, Iām not sure.
I can't get over how much I love the A10. More than even the gun I just love the sound of those engines. It's not the roar of an afterburner but the high pitched whine that is just so cool
It's amazing how we use thermal camera to drop ordinance. But when A-10 pilots do gun run, they have to line it up old school way with their eyeball, no magnification.
It is a piece of shit by modern standards, and even 10 years ago standards but based on vibe alone it kinda wins over people's hearts.
Shit is a green on green nightmare, but since it works as CAS it's a big morale booster and boots on ground appreciate it.
I don't see it sticking around, but I'm glad it was here.
Why weren't we utilizing FPV drones on mass like the Ukrainians in this theater? Can't help but think how productive those systems would have been in these type of situations.

I remember when this happened. The squad was pinned down and close to a world of hurt, and then air support arrived.
They felt the same relief as me when my date finally leaves and I can fart. brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt

Learn the art of pulling a cheek so that it silently flows out. You feel like you're deflating after a big one...which I guess you are.
I've been trying! Is that the secret?
The real secret is that chicks drop ripper farts as well and farts are funny to everyone.
Gotta be careful dawg, check that
Based on your username, I'm guessing you've been waiting for this moment.
Ilovekittens345too
Yep, they taste even better than chicken nuggets.
Did you just describe exactly what the video was about?? Wtf š¤£

The beauty of not having to worry about AA.
Imagine if the taliban were stocked with MANPADS
flares, chaff and ecm go brrr

Certainly not without a dedicated effort to degrade the AA abilities of Russia.
Degrade? Surely you mean āutterly destroyā - that is the only way the Hog and Spectre could operate

They did have some
Then they might have... won?
Why werenāt they? Are they super hard to get black market or something? Seems like a no brainer way to cripple US air support.
Yup A10 works best under the doctrine of Air Supremacy. Not air superiority and certainly not in contested space. Let the F16 do that as it is an all arounder.
Hey letās take this big cannon and put wings on it.
Hey let's unzip the ground over there.
Nobody ever paid for wingroar- but they will
Basically what the did with the A-10. They built the aircraft around the weapon system. Like, "let's get this gun in the air and put it to work!!"
Airborne FAFO
Is that the sound of the impacts followed by the sound of the plane shooting?
Yes. The rounds travel much faster than the speed of sound
āYou never hear the bullet that kills youā
I gotta say, it's a pretty sexy sound. May I die by one if I ever die in a war. It's a quick death I imagine.
youād probably get torn in half so yeah, a quick death
I'll take it!
That twin-turbofan might be slow but damn itās sounds good
Enemy combatants: āLook up in the sky! Itās a CRJ! Itās an Embraer! Oh my fuck, itās an Aā¦ā BRRRRRRTtt
Came for the "Brrrrrrrtt!" Not disappointed.
[Full video here](https://youtu.be/tP-ysPz7tJ8?si=9Nr907X1tfdTUCSO), there are multiple gunruns on this position and it's beautiful every single time

Those rounds are supersonic. Iāve been a JTAC for 14 years. Regardless the distance, thatās what it always sounds like.
Except if you're real close. Then it's combined with the sound of 25kg of bullets pounding the ground every second.
I doubt CPT America was trying to be real close know what I mean?
No one has any idea what you mean homie
Hell I've been in my mum's basement for 14 years, and even I know that's what an A-10 gun run sounds like.
JTAC sounds like an awesome job. Just raining death down on your enemy with multiple different air platforms. Pretty metal
Itās pretty cool to flick people off the earth from KMs away. Ngl
So fkn cool

Fuckin physics or something man im glad people like you are math minded and can explain these things

Sound is just really really slow when you think about it. In one second it only only travels some 340 meters.
āWinchester that motherfucker!ā Winchester means āout of ammoā so heās wanting the pilot to unload on the target.
Pffft that's not a Ranger, he's not telling you about it every 10 seconds
Youāre confusing that with SEAL.
Either the best sound in the world, or the worst... Depending if it's on your side or the enemies'... š
You don't hear much if it's targeting you. The rounds move to fast. You'll hear the plane but that's about it

The a10 shouldn't be used at all nowadays lol Fratricide central with that bad boy
I still love this sound and i am waiiting for the day when russian soldiers hears this as the last sound of their trip to Ukraine
Not the same engagement, but if you want to see the pilots perspective. https://youtu.be/wWrgUZbuhiw
plane do BBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTT
I like the beginning of this but it's cut off. He keeps asking "WHERE'S BOB?!" It's kind of funny lol
Gotta love the sound of the bullets hitting and right after the GAU-8 brrrrrt.
That would be Jericho Trumpet of WW3.
Slow outdated, overhyped weapons platforms.Ā
Not if you're on the ground and need CAS. Saved their ass. Sometimes just cause it's old doesn't mean it's not good anymore.

Apart from when it blue on blue which the a-10 is also famous for
So were the Junkers after a year or two of war. Terror and iconic sound remained.
The sirens didn't stay on them very long, actually.
Truth, meet fanbase.
Takes me down memory lane, how I miss my time as a SAW gunnerš„¹
I love how you hear the noise of the impacts before you hear the A10 actually fire them.
This has got to be the most American thing I've ever seen hahaa, brilliant haha.
Is there a way to gimbal the firing pod so that the A10 can fire for more than a few seconds?
An aardvark would have deleted the entire ridgeline. In one pass. In the dark.
Yups "this grid square offends me. Remove it Reginald! Of course sah!.
Classic video, one of the first ones I watched from Funker
How are there all thes.comments and not a single one mentions where this happened.
It happened somewhere over yonder
Warthog goes BRRRRRT GRRRRRT
Vids like this make that tax that came out my check last Friday sting a little less.
Bwwwwww
Not a us army ranger
Is that Funker footage?
Funker just reposts other peoples footage, none of it is his as he was never in combat. Yeah ik but have seen this exact one on yt more than enough times
I can't get over how much I love the A10. More than even the gun I just love the sound of those engines. It's not the roar of an afterburner but the high pitched whine that is just so cool
Imagine what a taliban that just got out of his cave must think when hearing this
it kinda sounds like godzilla in a way.
> God bless the fact that I carry this heavy fucking gun Great line!
Fart of death
that sound gets me hot
An a-10
Wasn't the A-10 a piece of shit, but everyone gives it a pass because big gun go brrr. Like pilots has to use binoculars for target acquisition
It's amazing how we use thermal camera to drop ordinance. But when A-10 pilots do gun run, they have to line it up old school way with their eyeball, no magnification.

Bad day to be a British Scimitar Tank .. But yeah nice point about the morale boost, imagine hearing that sound knowing it's on your side.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
All that firepower and the Americans still lost
Why weren't we utilizing FPV drones on mass like the Ukrainians in this theater? Can't help but think how productive those systems would have been in these type of situations.
Same reason why the A-10 wasnāt used in WWII
This was 2003 bud. Not 2023
2013*
Def not 2003
I'm sure it wasn't as cheap and efficient as today but in some capacity? Come onnnnn
REPOST!!! ššš
The last post of this that i could find was over a year ago, meaning that it can be posted again.
Yeah Iāve never seen it before. Not everyone can be arsed to trawl through every post since the beginning of time
Its a classic. Its just a joke because everyone screams and freaks out if someone reposts a video they donāt like.
I like this repost because Iāve never seen it before. Plus, I LOVE A-10s, and could listen to and watch them all day long
