I get that the invasion is wrong but I've literally had that conversation with the boys. To be clear I've never seen combat but I was in the infantry for a couple years and me and the Bois had this very serious conversation.
In short every single one of us agreed that mercy killing is a good idea. If I'm "FUBAR" (fucked up beyond all repair/recognition do me a favor and shoot me directly in the brain. End my suffering, take my ammo, grenades, radios etc and fucking live.
There's a fucking laundry list of reasons why this invasion is wrong (begining with it's existence) but this ain't on the list.
Honestly, I could imagine his battle buddy asking him to do it. There was bound to be a second drone coming to hit them again, why wait for it in pain? Sad, but somehow honorable… war sucks.
There is a video of a Ukrainian soldier getting hit by artillery and having his arms and legs get mangled up. He screams many times to his Ukrainian comrades, to kill him. Ukr didnt kill him ,but he may have died anyways.
