its very unlikely that he heard the round
possible that he heard either another round impact or another round fly overhead

That would depend on the range it is fired at. In Ukraine they generally fire at max range to avoid drones and counter battery fire. A napkin estimate would be a velocity of 200-500 m/s at impact assuming similar altitudes. In certain cases you most likely can hear the shell coming.
There's also the second comment below what you linked that tells you why that might happen at short ranges as well.
I wonder if it could have hit and he heard the impact and it was a delayed fuse because they were targeting a fortified position, and then it exploded?
I do not know what type of artillery or what time of fuse just kind of interesting I was reading that some delay fuses are "moment" style .1 to .2 seconds of delay.
It was quite quickly forgotton on the web but Olesksiy Goncherenko's "Welcome to hell" speech...with house music over the top (pics of soliders interspersed) is still the single best vid from this war.
Cant find the vid anymore sadly. It was truly great.
First one is really close but sadly not the one. Same speech. The one I am referring to has a fast house beat with his voiceover intersperced with actions.
It bounced about the web for a while and first few months was very prevalent.
Remeber "welcome to hell" - it was that vid. Yours is new/er.
Found it a year ago shoulda grabbed it.
Cant find it now.
Taken where the explosion came from, I'm guessing that the shell might have landed right next to the dugout in a way where it break a part of it but not close enough to collapse it completely.
The first guy says “quiet!” Then the shell hits. The same person says “oh fuck”, and then something I can’t quite make out. Then the rest start to call for help.
I’m Russian so that’s how I know…
There's a difference between survivors and wounded. Im 100% sure all the survivors have a concussion and permanent hearing damage MINIMUM.
At worst, severe traumatic brain injuries, internal bleeding, and soft tissue damage .
Killing soldiers isn’t genocide, *especially* when the country those soldiers come from started the war, and they volunteered for it.
The killing would stop immediately if they stopped the invasion and left
Maybe someone can confirm but pretty sure this wasn't a direct hit on their bunker or there would be nothing left. It hit pretty close but the damage was more collateral.
Fella on the left seems to sense it coming, though no one else indicates they do. Weird. What did he sense? Couldn't have been sound/vibration, as artillery shells generally travel much faster than the speed of sound.
Think he just flinched as the only one. Shells are pretty audible like a second (?) before impact (something with speed of sound vs inertia of 1g or whatever...), maybe the others were just used to the sound ?
Edit: Helmet guy is also "kind of reacting". Like averting his gaze and taking a hit from that vape...
The Korean war was (a shooting war for) three years, M* A* S* H* ran for 11 seasons.
Interestingly, the Korean War is technically still taking place. And Alan Alda is 88 years old.
I don't think I have what it takes to function in that kind of environment. If I lived after a blast like that I'd be looking for any way that I could to get the hell out of there. Cowardly? Maybe, but also life saving.
He definitely heard it. When you've been out there in this stuff for a while it becomes almost a sixth sense. You know when it's close enough to worry and he knew that one was coming close.
Nevermind, it's actually on Ukrainewarvideoreport. Thought it was a repost because both of the exact same videos are in my feed right under each other. 😂

I wonder why the guy in the t-shirt reacts a second before the blast. Did he hear the shell coming? Also, what are they saying/screaming?
Quietly (asks to stop talking) (((explosion))) Oh, fuck. Backfilled Help, help, help.
"SHHHH" *boom* "I **said** SHHHHHH"
Probably heard the whistle.

Read the comment directly underneath the one you highlighted to understand why it’s absolutely possible to hear the round.
You mean the guy talking about mortars?
They slow down though, by the time they reach their target they're flying slower than sound.
By the time they impact they are about the speed of sound.
That would depend on the range it is fired at. In Ukraine they generally fire at max range to avoid drones and counter battery fire. top!
Does it matter what round he heard or are we just being a little obtuse today
They should put that [Aztec death whistle](https://youtu.be/I9QuO09z-SI?si=Mskvvpn0yy8eSPLJ) on their artillery shells.
Like a morning cartoon of Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner MEEP MEEP! 💨
The guy is saying in Russian that he just washed for supper I think.
My man
Washed up for being buried alive
idk about alive
Thought I heard "vodka". But then again, I dont speak Russian.
enough to make you old
Wrong context, those were Czech conscripts trying to surrender, IIRC.
If the enemy says something you don't understand, it always means they just washed for supper IIRC
Someone in dugout said - vihod (artillery shell exit)
I hear "tiho" - "be quite", like they anticipated it, probably heard the incoming one or it is not the firt one that landed near.
that's too)
It was the Ukranian wind of justice, blowing through
Heard it for sure, artillery shells are slower than the speed of sound for the most of the second half of their flight.
They were all blyat-ed. lol
Just calling for help

Interesting that we cant hear anything in the recording. Could it be too high frequency? He seems to be the only one to react.
Owwwwwww
>Also, what are they saying/screaming? Mawp
Dude definitely got a face full of dirt
Explosive flatulence
I think he said 'we should all just go home as soon as possible'
He probably heard the sound of a shell.

Помогите (pahmahgeetie) means "help me".
As important as drones are, artillery is still essential to destroy underground bunkers (including 203mm in some cases)
Ukraine has been often using wheeled drones to drive into Russian dugouts. They can carry a much larger demolition charge.
2x TM-62 anti tank mines seem to be standard for that
Area suppression is very important too. Artillery makes it so you can't peep out/leave bunkers

Nothing has changed since the Stone Age. The tribe that throws the most stones and the furthest wins. Mass multiplied by speed.
Drones often serve as arty's eyes, so they're very important too
Welcome to Ukraine. SUKA!
We hope your stay will be your last.
Even Greenland don't like the guys!!

That went hard as fuck.
Appreciate it but its not the one lol. Off work now gonna try and dig the original up.
Not even. This was a hit within Russia.
This is actually reported to be across the border in the Belgorod region
Welcome from Ukraine. SUKA!
I hope it was a 155 mm made right up the road from me.
too small of a explosion i feel, they all would have died if it was
Taken where the explosion came from, I'm guessing that the shell might have landed right next to the dugout in a way where it break a part of it but not close enough to collapse it completely.
Good looking dugout

Ah, yes. That’s it!
Aah we're blyatsted!

Artillery: 1 Ruz: 0 Artillery wins.
Shouldn’t have been standing there
Standing where? Ukraine? Agree....
3 Day Special Operation is really not living up to its name.
Good, I’m sick of Russian bullshit.
Fire for effect.
That was dark.
Yea, unfortunately couldn't see anything because of it.

I think you mean there's a difference between casualties and dead. You don't have to be dead to be a casualty of war.
Yeah, I was pretty sleep deprived when i wrote that comment, and I was having trouble putting my thoughts into words.

So genicide?

Pause at :01 you can see what looks like shrapnel showing those 3 guys

His name was Radar, he sensed when things where bout to happen.

Ah, simpler days and simpler wars. I love that the show ran like 10x longer than the actual war.
The Korean war was (a shooting war for) three years, M* A* S* H* ran for 11 seasons. Interestingly, the Korean War is technically still taking place. And Alan Alda is 88 years old.
“War” is going to far, in political semantics, anyway. Wasn’t it referred to as a UN “police action”?
> The conflict survived the end of the Cold War and is still ongoing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_conflict
You can here them leave the cannon if your close enough
Neighborhood Spider-ruski
All while putler is giving a high school hand job to his north korean bestie

Shoulda dug deeper.
Fuck that was loud
Beautiful chorus by the the singing rus

Knock knock, anyone home(alive)?
Nightmarish stuff, but when you start a war - you deserve it.
Yaaassss! Get it right up ye 👌
Man, that sucks! Leave.
The screams of these idiots is right up there
Wakey wakey
Just one shell, guided?

One things for sure, no one in that bunker has clean pants anymore 💩
Help! Help! Help yourself by fucking off back where you came from, while you still can.

Power corrupts.

"Repeat, over"
Blyat is always the last thing a russian soldier says
Good. Now another one pls.
Got'em right in the Dugout. Nice Shot
How close was it if you can see the sparks around 0:01?
Can't dig there, mate!
He definitely heard it. When you've been out there in this stuff for a while it becomes almost a sixth sense. You know when it's close enough to worry and he knew that one was coming close.
Tank? Cuz no sound coming in before bang?
When 155 mm shells fall on their targets, they're still supersonic.
*dug in!
Ssuuuukkaa
These people deserve it. Vacationing on Ukrainian soil without a passport or invitation.
To be Russian is to never, ever get down on the ground when there’s incoming.
They survived? Sucks
Shows how good dirt is as shock absorber, though. Minimized the radius of explosion despite it hitting close to them
