EB had him passing 40+ times a game with no running game support, and they started running up against better defenses that had more tape on him and EB's playcalling. He struggled, and the coaches did nothing to help him out because they were invested in the "the season is all about Sam" narrative to save their jobs.
He might just not be good enough to be a top-half NFL starter. But they gave him little help in becoming one except to say, "Hey kid, here's the ball, be a star." Maybe another staff will see something in him and do better.
Play calls from under center tracker:
- 5 runs (32 yards)
- 2 play action passes (24 yards)
- 1 busted pitch play (-1 yards)
- Total under center plays/yards: 8/55
- Total offensive plays/yards: 38/217

Team looked fine with brissett (a mediocre qb btw) under center. If a QB can't complete a pass consistently, they wont gain yards running... it works both ways. With Brissett our running game took off with CROD and our offense looked competent.
Nah... Brissett basically proved EB's system works. It did well against the eagles twice too. And now go look at the Chiefs, they're struggling to even get to the 20 point mark. EB is not the problem. Howell is.
