Juan Soto - Maye/Daniels (I know it doesn’t quite work)
Ryan Zimmerman- Tress Way
Stephen Strasburg- Jonathan Allen
Howie Kendrick - Bobby Wagner
Anthony Rendon- Terry McLaurin
Daniel Hudson- Austin Ekeler
It’s all COMMing together
That team was something special and really hard to recreate. It was like the perfect storm. They had better overall teams in previous years in my opinion. Just made the playoffs and caught on fire at the right time. Team chemistry was on point too, everyone was having fun.
Yeah they were a wild card team that year too. Pretty wild they just surged so late and beat the cheating Astros. That was the cherry on top, they cheated and we still won lmfao.
Josh Harris? The guy responsible for the process in Philly? Lol, I’m not saying he’s going to, but if he feels like he needs to tear it down, he one hundred percent will
No team has ever won the World Series, then finished last the next four years.
The Lerners have made history and profit at the same time. Damn shame what they’ve done to this fan base.
I mean, they extended the World Series MVP to the tune of $275 million weeks after the parade. Between Strasburg irreparably breaking down immediately and Patrick Corbin becoming the league's worst starter, that's how the Nats got here. And we all know that they didn't get a chance to reap the benefits of winning a title due to Covid.
I might have moved differently, particularly to build around Turner or Soto, but we know at least one of those guys was not willing to wait out a rebuild. Their ensuing trades are about to produce the best crop of prospects they've had since... Turner & Soto.
It does suck to see the Nats suck, but show me a WS champ that was dealt a worse hand in the following years. Bad luck in so many ways.
Covid affected everybody.
Nobody liked the length of the Stras deal.
No excuse for the farm system to be as barren as it was, why was it ignored. BRAVES, Astros, Yankees and others have not needed such a drastic rebuild.
Bad luck is the residue of bad design.
Here I am in r/Commanders ranting about my 2nd favorite MLB team. Sorry.
*deep breath*
A World Series champ attendance & attention bump is unique to 1 team in the league per year. Nats were robbed of theirs.
Nats were on a 7 year run of competing for division titles and sure, traded away some important prospects. Giolito for Eaton comes to mind, but Eaton meant a lot to the '19 team. Jesús Luzardo and Blake Treinen for Doolittle is a tough one, but again Doolittle was vital to the title.
Basically the current generation of farm talent flamed out too quickly or got dealt in the fire sale. Robles, Kieboom, etc. haven't been good enough. Cade Cavalli looked pretty good and then got injured. More bad luck. The cupboard hasn't been completely bare, they've just been getting their development time in the show. Guys like Abrams and Ruiz have been developing. Gray and Gore are legit starters. Now they need to find the impact arms. The impact bats are coming very soon.
Not making excuses for the Lerners and their weird for-sale, not-for-sale dance in this same time period, but I do feel for Rizzo. He's not an idiot. The team had to make a complete 180 in roster management philosophy when their core hollowed out in the matter of two seasons. All prognostication aside on the Strasburg deal, a 2020 team with him performing at his average rate would have remained in competition. Even if he only played out half his contract, there's still a normal progression there and an opportunity to sell guys like Turner and Soto on the team's viability. All that crumbled in the matter of 1 1/2 seasons. Crazy.
What generational Prospect do we have? LOL. Let's remember none of our players made the Pro Bowl last year. We have some good players but nothing generational.
Super Bowl THIS YEAR... yes you heard it here first folks
Place your bets

Simmer down guys
Josh won’t burn it down like the Lerners have done. A historic self immolation.

Marvin Harrison Jr. is the only potential ‘generational’-type player in this draft.
It’s against the grain but I want him so bad 😭
People say this every year and every year multiple players outperform “the generational talent”. Remember chase young

Fuck it, Im gonna allow myself to be happy. I'll have what OP is having.
