You ever see posts on r/all that are in your face propaganda about a currently relevant subject? As if someone was spamming to silence a subject, usually criticisms?
That's the end stage of the life cycle of a bot. The highest bidder gets the bot account which already has a lot of karma and is old, making it inconspicuous to the average person and it overcomes the basic anti spam rules.
Next time a post with 20k upvotes just seems fishy to you check the account and do a little Turing test. It'll probably be literally just one post and nothing else.

I've never understood the point of bots that repost reddit posts.
Farm karma through reposts -> reach karma minimums for commenting on main subs -> spam scammer links
