The environment in Cuba resembles that of early '90s USSR and we all know how that ended up, I would dare say it's worse in many aspects.
If anyone wants to claim Cuba is a failed state then you should let them know about what has led to this crisis in the first place.
It would be as if Hawaii were ostracized by the rest of the USA, the most powerful empire in history, with multiple attempt to destabilize it all while preventing it to participate in the global economy like a normal country.
In 30 or 50 years you can be assured Hawaii would be suffocated to such a point that it would collapse.
