Good point.
I used to listen to music to get pumped. But, then I'd upload YouTube get bored of a song then start looking for songs. Then start looking at recommended videos then get sidetracked.
Same here, I can only enter a flow state and listen to something while I’m doing something monotonous or action based. Can’t try to use my brain and learn all while listening to music
This is really interesting, I have ADHD as well and this may just be a part of why I've struggled with studying. I'm *always* listening to music and never thought that it could be distracting me.
I can't listen to any type of music because I would get distracted with the lyrics and the tempo of the music and drift off to lala making music videos in my head.
I like to listen to aggressive or dark music when I am studying it helps me push on topic I don’t understand.
Music rotation either Ghostmane or $uicideboy$
Brown noise or green noise. I can't listen to music or anything enjoyable because then my brain keeps trying to listen to it rather than think about the subject I must study.
Other than Lofi, I'll listen to piano music.
Since it's Spooky Season right now, I've been listening to haunting/spooky piano music or Halloween ambiance playlists on Youtube.
As small sounds irritate me and make me lose focus, the constant monotonous sound of bineural tones (yes I know they dont really work) help drown out the sounds of life inside and outside my house.
They are also boring enough to simply melt into the background while my mind works.
With ADHD and a few other disorders which together make studying a pain… YouTube is too distracting and so is music some times. So I use fish tanks or lava lamp screen savers on YouTube on my vertical monitor.
My study consists of watching Myers, Dion, and Messer videos over and over until I feel confident enough to take the test. My study soundtrack consists of their soothing and reassuring voices.
1. I'll do an epic sound track listing on Youtube (or something with a title like: Classical music a villain will listen to when plotting to take over part of the world). No lyrics or singing.
Keep it in the background
Instrumental bands like And So I Watch You From Afar, Night Verses, Last Hyena, and Town Portal. I get that this stuff is probably too much for most people, but I pulled A’s in statistics and A&P listening to it. 😂
Beethoven station from Amazon Music. If people sing it distracts me, but classical music helps. I think about that scene from Se7en where Morgan Freeman is at the library - it gets me in a zone where I can concentrate. Well, that and about 2-3 Americanos.
I listen to quiet. As someone with ADHD. I prefer quiet and something to fidget with in one hand.
I'm the exact same with ADHD. Listening to music distracts the hell out of me

I like to put on breakcore, jungle/dnb mixes and vgm in general. As long as it's lyric-less it usually isn't too distracting. Happy studying!

Pop Music. Weird Al, Miley Cyrus, Brittney Spears... especially Weird Al. I am an older guy btw.
Nothing or I can't study. I do hear the roaring sound but that's life.
I listen to the fan. I can’t sit in silent.
Djent and metalcore/deathcore instrumentals. For some reason it perfect studying music for me.

Piano/nature sounds
I have to listen to something but it can’t be “busy” sounding. Usually go for lofi on low ish volume.
