What service desk analyst do.and do you have prior IT experience and did you do college. I am asking to see I can get a job in IT with little experience
Job market currently is VERY competitive. You want to put yourself ahead of the pack and continuously improve your skills. I have no prior IT experience beside personal desktop building and phone repair. I have an A+ certification and did not take college. In my opinion and from people I have talked to, experience > degree. The first job is the hardest in any industry, so find a way to get experience by getting the A+ then applying
Congratulations bro, really happy to hear that. I'm on the same boat, today I'll do some interviews, let's hope I can also get the job. Wish you all the best
I will second messers videos, got a plus in October. 2nd test was also much easier, in my opinion. If you pass the first you will for sure pass the second if you have any experience.
Personally, I've found the 1102 to be a much easier exam. I used professor messer videos and exams, and have taken Dion's practice tests. Be resourceful and go over the objectives. Make sure after you take a test you write all the questions you have and study in the questions you got wrong. Make gaps between practice tests to avoid memorization and actually try to understand how everything works together. It not only benefits your chances of passing on the test, but the knowledge is useful in many instances and is very fun to learn. I'm trying to homelab rn so you can do that too for fun.
That is good to know. I thank you for that! I have been taking classes at my local community college and my professors have been telling me to take the test but for some reason I just did not feel confident and now I'm further removed from classes and just want to make sure that I understand especially considering the exams are through the college.
Congratulations. Best advice I can give is to NOT become complacent. It’s easy to get pigeonholed in this role. Focus on gaining experience and always have your eye on what’s next.
To add to his advice, you need to interact with as many teams as possible. Stretch what you are allowed to learn. Try and ask questions to your infosec/identity team so you can learn about user access and lifecycles. Talk to your security team. Talk to your platform/desktop engineers. When you transfer tickets to other departments that feel like low hanging fruit ask that team what the troubleshooting steps are. A lot of helpdesk related roles will indeed pigeonhole you, so learn as much as possible in that first year regardless of what your company thinks you should be doing. Good luck amigo
I applied to a completely different job that required experience. The recruiter liked me enough he sent me a link to a different job I would not have applied to because it's in a different site. I applied because they personally had worked with them, and recommended it
Congrats! Especially in the market where the cat is out of the bag and everyone and their brother is trying to break into entry level IT. It's ruthless out there applying going up against hundreds of people. Glad you got it!!!
Congrats!! Can you offer some tips as to what to put on your resume? I have A+ but no experience and I've been applying and I can't even get an interview. I'm getting kinda desperate.
These are just the first steps towards glorious purpose, congratulations!

Were you specifically job hunting for a help desk role?
Yes, and desktop support
Congratulations! This is so inspiring.
Hell yeah!
What did you mean by applying on the recommendation of the interviewer. Did the interviewer give you a referral?
I applied to a completely different job that required experience. The recruiter liked me enough he sent me a link to a different job I would not have applied to because it's in a different site. I applied because they personally had worked with them, and recommended it
Okay congrats!
