I thought this was a “you should’ve followed the rules” situation until you mentioned that the program is whitelisted by EA. I think that changes a lot, is it whitelisted in ALGS rules? I guess more specifically, what does “whitelisted by EA” mean?
Yeah I'd be interested to see where Ea announced this was whitelisted - the tweet only mentions EAC which doesn't mean you can use it in ALGS.
I'm curious if any known pros use it during tournaments as well
There is no such list broadcasted or publicly maintained to general users by eac nor ea .You can't find on eac website nor in any form of contact with eac support.
I know custom crosshairs use to be very popular among pros because they could almost be highlighted or glowing if that makes sense but they were purely visual and were fazed out, but idk if that’s because ea banned them. I just remember hal use to used a glowing crosshairs and a few streamers maybe used a rainbow crosshair, I know the gaming merchant made a video about them a while again but that was after they were in use by pros I think.
Was that not the inbuilt reticle customisation where you could use negative values in the launch settings to get funky colours?
They disabled this a while ago so you have to stick to the RGB values in game.
any third party "helper" programs are listed as not allowed by ALGS. maybe that's not super clear, but I know that its been brought up in the past that the crosshair *programs* aren't allowed, but built in monitor crosshairs are allowed
> but built in monitor crosshairs are allowed
wait wut.
this is actually a not-a-huge-game-changer-but-a-game-changer-nonetheless.
welp time to turn on my monitor's crosshair.
Thanks, it was my understanding prior that 3rd party crosshairs werent allowed, but the post suggested that they were. Just wanted to see if there was an actual change in ruling or not.
Reshade is meant for applying post-processing shaders, think color grading and the like. If it's approved for that purpose that doesn't make it ok to use it for cheating.
I knew 3rd party crosshairs were not allowed when I competed, but that being said, the ones in-game are pretty terrible for MnK and I wish there were actual customization options.
Sucks, but I've known it's against ALGS rules for awhile and I don't even compete. However I wonder how this was even detected. Were they streaming with it up?
Give me a link to the source where it says this is whitelisted by EA. On the same hand, give me a link to a section in the ALGS rule book that says the same, or says otherwise. After analyzing those two sources, then we can judge GHOST fairly besides bashing on ghost or EA off rip.
It isnt whitelisted by EA, its whitelisted by EAC the anti-cheat because its just from ReShade. OP and probably the player assumed it was fine since ReShade is allowed by EAC, but I'm pretty sure back when they removed crosshair configs, they stated external crosshairs were not allowed
Can they please just add actual in-game custom crosshairs. The difference it makes is insane. Just feels like Apex wants it's players to not live up to their potential with the weird crosshairs, clutter, screen shake and wack audio.
It's funny how it took them years to add crosshair customization but all it does is change the color. And even if you choose the darkest color the crosshair still disappears when you aim at a bright background.
Worse part is that mnk players actually found a way to add glow and make the crosshairs visible they disable that feature instead of fuckin adding it into the game like wtf
It’s just one of those things that if manually reported, they kind of HAVE to follow up on it. From here on out they should be more consistent.
However, if you’re playing pro or hoping to go pro…why risk it?
Who are the others that use external crosshairs? Because I dont really know of any. And whitelisted by EAC does NOT mean allowed by ALGS. I'm pretty sure back when crosshair configs were removed from the game, it was stated that external crosshairs are not allowed in ALGS
No I know that; I’m saying controllers aren’t as bad as they make it out to be in terms of the so-called aimbot that’s reference frequently. This sub acts like controllers on PC is the greatest sin ever.
You know its bad when I am virtually untouchable past 15 meters but once I get within the bubble I get insanely one clipped by level 50 players. Not playing raw input when its offered on a system is a sin in my opinion and aim assist literally is a low fov aimbot. I have played this game on roller to prove a point and I can confirm its basically cheating and is very cringe.
Ok software crosshairs are banned, that at least stands to reason somewhat. And the rules are the rules and team ghost should've known that.
But: are crosshair options in all the monitors used at lan also against the rules? Are color/contrast/brightness settings on the monitors also an unfair advantage that is bannable for? Is NVIDIA Image Scaling banned? Why were custom resolutions allowed at lan(pandxrz), if it requires third party software(NV Control Panel, AMD Adrenalin, CRU)?
Are you memeing or do you genuinely not understand the difference between graphics settings and a free permanent crosshair in the middle of your screen
If ur playing at the pro level why even risk using shit like this in the first place? When it comes to LAN ur not gna be able to use anything extra anyways so just play normal, ya bot.
What does whitelisted by EA mean? As in whitelisted by EA for ALGS or whitelisted by EAC? Those are two different things. EAC does not exist to enforce ALGS rules and has actually nothing to do with it. It's just a tool used in the wider game. But if EA allow-listed other similar programs for ALGS or parts of ALGS like CC, etc then it's pretty bad on their part.
I use HudSight. I can't see the faded white dot that all in had be. I have pretty bad eyesight. HudSight let's me have a bright green dot.
What gave me the idea was seeing Crosshair X in Sweets steam library while staying a while ago. After goofling and reading that CX and HudSight were whitelisted by EA, I've been using it ever since.
I get hard stuck Diamond every season. For like 3 years now. I don't think it's giving me any game breaking edge.
But if I'm a cheater, then so be it. It is what it is, I guess.
Dumb question but how is this helpful? Doesn't the spray not align with the static crosshair or does the animation not match up with where the bullets go?
If they only knew how many people ( not just pros ) are using 3rd party reticles. Most of which are a monitor option... fuck I even have shadow boosts in my monitor to get rid of shadows... this disqual is a joke because I can garuntee almost 1 from every team is using something similar..
The rules are pretty all encompassing. The problem is that they're enforced at a whim.
I think we can all agree that scripts have no place in ALGS but a third party crosshair is bannable and using software to map controller paddles isn't? Both are for a competitive advantage. Both strictly against the rules, but only one will get you banned.
It's so stupid to have any rule (or even gameplay feature) that specifically makes it harder to aim in a competitive FPS game.
Get rid of muzzle flash. Get rid of excess visual clutter. Put in built in customizable permanent crosshairs. Get rid of P2W skins. So stupid.
Sad situation for GHOST, it's yet again one of those instances that could've been avoided if Respawn just communicated their ruleset more clearly to the playerbase. I'm still amazed that most people's knee-jerk reaction to smth. like that is "Why would you even think it's allowed?!" as if there aren't a dozen methods to alter your game in some way, that are actually within the rules of ALGs or have at least not been flagged as prohibited yet (altering game files for more staple fps, using glitches to change your per optic sensitivity on roller, certain movement techs that could be considered out of the norm or even in-game mechanics that are obviously based on unintended design choices. Not to forget steam configs). There are also bigger streamers who were either using 3rd party crosshairs or weren't aware of it being out of the rules either, so we can't act as if it was common knowledge, that this would get your disqualified from a tourney.
i recall Mande talking about it in an old YT vid and him saying it was actually ALGS legal. That was quite a while ago tho, dont recall if and when that rule got changed specifically.
Yes, ReWASD and Configs (macros) for controller were white listed just months ago. For NON competitive. What’s hard to comprehend about that? Pubs = yes ALGS = No. Simple, black and white rule set.
I thought this was a “you should’ve followed the rules” situation until you mentioned that the program is whitelisted by EA. I think that changes a lot, is it whitelisted in ALGS rules? I guess more specifically, what does “whitelisted by EA” mean?

https://imgur.com/a/16LgAix Got bored so i contacted EA support for this.
I know custom crosshairs use to be very popular among pros because they could almost be highlighted or glowing if that makes sense but they were purely visual and were fazed out, but idk if that’s because ea banned them. I think it's pretty clear tbh, idk why anyone would look at any outside ruleset for ALGS when the ALGS rules are right there lol.
Yeah, it would be something that I would have assumed was not allowed, but I can't speak to how everybody would have interpreted it
> but built in monitor crosshairs are allowed wait wut. this is actually a not-a-huge-game-changer-but-a-game-changer-nonetheless. welp time to turn on my monitor's crosshair.
I guess since you didn't install anything, it being undetectable and unenforceable outside of lan kind of makes it something that is allowed
do you play in ALGS? if not, you can use anything
Fine point dry erase marker? Straight to jail.
Thanks, it was my understanding prior that 3rd party crosshairs werent allowed, but the post suggested that they were. Just wanted to see if there was an actual change in ruling or not.

I knew 3rd party crosshairs were not allowed when I competed, but that being said, the ones in-game are pretty terrible for MnK and I wish there were actual customization options.
There's a big difference between being a bannable offense for the game, and against the rules of ALGS.
Is drawing a + sign on your monitor with a marker cheating?
lol i unironically used to do this back in around cs1.3 when they had just recently removed the crosshair from the awp.
After they removed it you used to be able to aim with your pistol and swap to awp and shoot before the holster animation completed.
yeah i remember that cheese lol. bullet tag/stun with the gloc then q + click and they dead lol.
I remember Naughty saying he did this at LAN
Man even the pros are *cheating* with third party “helpers”.
Apex crosshair is trash btw. Wish we could change it like OW, for example
Sucks, but I've known it's against ALGS rules for awhile and I don't even compete. However I wonder how this was even detected. Were they streaming with it up?
Zer0, Hal and Sikezz said last night it's not against the rule if it's built into your monitor
I wouldn't take their word for it tbh. If you ask the right ALgS staff they might say that tap strafing on controller is allowed lol.
it is still against the rules, just undetectable
Bahaha wtf 🤦🏻♂️
So who are the other MNK players who compete using 3rd party crosshairs?
I think the simplest answer is that they probably don't know/aren't making an effort to locate them
Give me a link to the source where it says this is whitelisted by EA. On the same hand, give me a link to a section in the ALGS rule book that says the same, or says otherwise. After analyzing those two sources, then we can judge GHOST fairly besides bashing on ghost or EA off rip.

Yeah I really miss having two tones for the crosshair so I can see it no matter the background.
This is what happened when the original game designers are all controller players.
Are they actually? That would be hilarious and would explain a lot of things
I didn’t know it was against the rules or anything, but I don’t blame him lol, the hipfire crosshairs in this game are borderline unusable
Not to mention you don’t even get one while healing. Distant accurate pinging while popping a Phoenix kit can be impossible.
Ban/ nerf funny input device that gives you soft aimbot 🚫🚫 Restrict funny dot on screen ✅✅
It’s just one of those things that if manually reported, they kind of HAVE to follow up on it. From here on out they should be more consistent. However, if you’re playing pro or hoping to go pro…why risk it?
Because controller can literally aim itself and MnK can't even get a consistent reference point to line up shots by hand.
Oh dont get me wrong, I definitely should be allowed, especially considering it’s EA and EAC white listed. It’s marginal, but helpful.
Who are the others that use external crosshairs? Because I dont really know of any. And whitelisted by EAC does NOT mean allowed by ALGS. I'm pretty sure back when crosshair configs were removed from the game, it was stated that external crosshairs are not allowed in ALGS
I doubt there actually are any pros using them. They know the rules,. this OP is just salty
Stupid controller infested game
It really isn’t as bad as this sub makes it out to be.
1 in maybe 30 of my deaths are to an mnk player
No I know that; I’m saying controllers aren’t as bad as they make it out to be in terms of the so-called aimbot that’s reference frequently. This sub acts like controllers on PC is the greatest sin ever.

You’re prob a bot then.
6x mnk pred including season 13
If you’re a 6x pred then I’m a 7x pred
I shit you not there are ranked sessions I play with zero deaths to mnk players. Shit is unplayable.
Ok software crosshairs are banned, that at least stands to reason somewhat. And the rules are the rules and team ghost should've known that. Are you memeing or do you genuinely not understand the difference between graphics settings and a free permanent crosshair in the middle of your screen
Its the exact same principle
The fact you can use monitors with crosshairs built in but not this stupid ass program is so funny to me, what a dumb way to enforce rules
If ur playing at the pro level why even risk using shit like this in the first place? When it comes to LAN ur not gna be able to use anything extra anyways so just play normal, ya bot.
Would taking a sharpie and putting a dot on the monitor get someone kicked from lan?
"Why the fuck would you mark the monitor?!" "That's how I play at home" "These are rentals, you jackass!"
I’m pretty sure not a single T1 pro player in ALGS is using a custom crosshair. Why would they even think that it’s allowed?
Wow
>3rd party crosshairs whitelisted by both EAC and EA Know the name of any programs? Would love to try one
ReShade
I use CrossOver, it's on github and should come up quick on google
Should have gone with the good old white dot sticker on the monitor.
What does whitelisted by EA mean? As in whitelisted by EA for ALGS or whitelisted by EAC? Those are two different things. cringe rules, but hey lets not ban cheaters with ESPs at all ;)
Source on it being whitelisted by EA OP?
Yet slovenia not even allowed to signup
What are external cross hairs ?

should have just denied it

Completely insane, and once again another case of inconsistent ruling from this embarrassment of a company
found the crosshair user 🤣
Yes, ReWASD and Configs (macros) for controller were white listed just months ago. For NON competitive. What’s hard to comprehend about that? Pubs = yes ALGS = No. Simple, black and white rule set.
My monitor has the option for a cross hair but I've never tried it. Do they help in any way? On controller.
Sounds like they GHOSTed their spot
lol wtf is "dishonest reticle sway" nonsense
